She much preferred the idea of traveling with someone else to heading back into the fog completely alone. His offer to take them back down to the bottom of the cliff left Elisande momentarily lost in thought. If he could fly like this, she'd much prefer for him to just fly them over the mists and back to safety. However, she figured that if he was able (or willing) to do so, then he likely would have just proposed that to begin with. No, even if he was capable of it he had already said that he wasn't planning on leaving without finding some kind of loot here. "Let's head back down, then."[break][break]
She took his hand and held on tight as they flew, not willing to risk a plummet of unknown height into the depths of the Forgotten Mists. Only once they had landed and she could feel the ground beneath her feet would he loosen her hold on him before pulling away completely. "Well, I guess that's the easy part out of the way."[break][break]
She stared off into the fog, still unable to see anything farther than a few feet in front of her. "Now let's see..." She looked around, trying to gather her bearings from the descent. If there was one downside to their way down, it was that she couldn't simply retrace her steps, and could only assume they were relatively close to where she had come from to climb the cliff in the first place.[break][break]
"I think the way out is that way." She would point off towards the west, then let out a sigh. "I came a pretty good distance to get to this point, so there's bound to be something interesting between here and there. We'll just have to keep an eye out, which..." Streets replaced with flowing rapids. Skyscrapers that had come crashing down, interwoven with trees and vines and flowers. Some that still stood, rising taller than they ever had before. As she carefully ventured from street to street, walking across the horizontal buildings and bridges made from vines and tree branches to avoid drudging through the flooded streets, Elisande still couldn't believe her eyes. Days ago this was a massive, thriving city. Now it looked like it had been abandoned for eons.[break][break]
Eventually she came to a series of buildings that were still intact, despite the top of them just barely poking out above the water. It was maybe a ten foot drop from the rooftops to the water below. Elisande carefully made her way over to the edge of one of the rooftops, taking a seat with her legs dangling out over the water. She stared off into the distance, taking in this weird mixture of verdant jungle meeting concrete jungle.[break][break]
It was important to keep her guard up here. Even in her short journey so far, Elisande had already seen various different monsters off in the distance. So while she was enthralled by the scenery, she didn't let herself get too lost in thought. Her eyes were constantly scanning for any movement. She was listening carefully to everything going on around her. If anything approached, she would hopefully notice before it got too close. It was surely better than having no idea what happened to either of them, but she imagined it didn't do any favors for putting his mind at ease, especially considering what he was describing of his family home and his sister's school.[break][break]
Elisande listened quietly as he continued on, hoping he might give her anything else to work with. Everything he was saying seemed to be purely speculation based on what he knew about his sister though. She was still keeping an eye out for anyone who might resemble his younger sibling while they walked, but no one seemed to fit the description.[break][break]
She mulled over his list of places he believed his sister could have gone had she not come to the Hub. Elisande had heard rumors that Asia had it pretty bad overall, and Korea in particular had it extremely rough. She couldn't speak on the state of Seoul itself in the aftermath of the tutorials, but it was likely that what happened in Japan wasn't isolated just to the island country. New Orleans she hadn't heard anything about in particular, but if her own tutorial was any indication, a good chunk of the United States outside of Los Angeles was turned into nothing but a barren wasteland. That just left New York, which she heard had been more or less completely destroyed.[break][break]
She kept this all to herself, not wanting to bring him down or make him worry any more than he already was. "You'll find her." She said it matter-of-factly because she truly believed that, or at least wanted to truly believe it. There were no concrete facts or evidence indicating it to be true, and there was nothing else she could say to reassure him, but she nodded confidently as if she had made up her mind on the matter. Elisande would give him an almost offended look in response to this, but she wouldn't say anything. After all, he was entitled to his clearly incorrect opinion. Her opinion on the matter was only solidified by the way the little creature interacted with Delphi. Even so, she wouldn't approach it. If this thing did turn out to be a dangerous murder mole it wouldn't be the first time something diabolically adorable popped up out of the ground, appear to be cute and harmless, then attempt to kill her. It would be the second time. Which wasn't a lot, but it would be weird for it to happen twice already.[break][break]
Fortunately that didn't seem to be the case as Adam simply walked past the creature and no harm came from it. In fact, Elisande only started to enjoy this creature's presence more afterwards. It took all of her willpower to not burst out laughing at the way it followed Adam around and pestered him. "See, even this little guy thinks you could use some company. I knew I was onto something~"[break][break]
It didn't take long for her to once again go quiet though. The sight of the inside of this cave system had her awestruck from the moment it fully came into view. It was like an entirely different world down here. "Wow..." It was all she could get out while she was taking it all in. Only after she had spent a significant period of time being captivated by the scenery did a realization set in.[break][break]
"Soooooo..." She had been sneaking glances over at Adam every once in a while to see if something as amazing as this could at least draw out some emotion other than angst and grumpiness, but her attention now fully fell on him. "When it said to explore the area and retrieve any valuable materials, you don't think it meant to explore the whole area and bring back all valuable materials, right?" She laughed nervously. "Because if so, we'll be here a while." It was another city that was a complete shell of what it once was, albeit this one had most of its buildings still standing. Strangely enough that's what made it even more unsettling for Elisande. With New York it was a very clear destruction, more akin to the damage caused by natural disasters. Shattered terrain, collapsed buildings, nature reclaiming the concrete jungle. With Seoul it was more akin to a systematic eradication of its people. The cityscape remained mostly untouched, and yet it seemed as if the people just vanished without a trace.[break][break]
In fact, Elisande hadn't seen a single other person since arriving here. At least in some of the other places she had come across individuals checking on their homes or trying to pick up the pieces of their old lives. New York was the exception, but given its current state, that wasn't exactly surprising. Perhaps it was just because she had waited longer to come here. Maybe the majority of people in that position had already made their rounds. Or maybe there were no people to do so.[break][break]
Despite the lack of other humans, there were plenty of critters about, and she had passed by quite a few slimes. If nothing else, the city seemed like a good place for people to start if they were going to be engaging with their new lives instead of biding their time. The threats were minimal, and it was one of the only areas she had seen that still looked as it had before this whole thing started.[break][break]
For the time being she aimlessly wandered the city streets, slowly but surely convincing herself that this would be a good "leveling zone" but didn't have much else to offer. While he talked Elisande went about enjoying her meal, taking a few small bites of her sandwich before once again setting it down and focusing on her coffee. She honestly hadn't expected her poking at him to end up being so insightful. If nothing else, she felt she had a slightly better idea of what kind of person he was now. Or at least what kind of person he considered himself to be.[break][break]
"Should I not want to be your type?" She chuckled to herself slightly, her eyes locking with his briefly before looking towards her cup and taking another sip of her coffee. There was the inkling of a smug smile on her face as she took the first bite of her sandwich. If this first taste was any indication of what the rest of the food at the Hub was like, then Elisande certainly wouldn't have any complaints. She was sure there were restaurants that could do better, but this was pretty damn good. If it came down to stopping quickly for a meal while traveling and so on she doubted there were many better options.[break][break]

The pastry remained untouched as she lounged back into the seat, her gaze falling on the people walking by outside. It was strange to see the city streets that she knew had always been so lively to be slightly less crowded.[break][break]
The loss of population from the awakening seemed somewhat offset by the influx of people taking advantage of Los Angeles being one of the world's few remaining safe zones. However, Elisande could still notice a difference. It wasn't the same hustle and bustle of daily life that she had once been familiar with. It was a bunch of people scurrying around, trying to pick up the pieces of shattered lives or start new ones. The lack of damage to the city was not representative of the damage done to its people.[break][break]
She had been so lost in the crowd (and her thoughts) that she had failed to notice someone approaching. The sound of the newcomer's voice was enough to grasp her attention though.[break][break]

There was small talk, and Elisande also had taken the opportunity to look at her star map. If Min-su had felt so inclined, there would have been plenty of opportunities to interact with Delphi. It took the better part of an hour or so to make it to the forest's edge, but it was definitely worth it, at least to Elisande.[break][break] It was even more beautiful up close. What seemed like nothing more than an ordinary forest from a distance was quickly revealed to be anything but as they approached. The leaves of the trees were a multitude of colors, with blue and purple hues scattered throughout the various shades of green. Some trees had no leaves at all, their branches twisting and spiraling into something that looked akin to miniature galaxies coalescing in the canopy. There were smaller floating islands overhead that each had their own little waterfalls, flowing down between the trees to form a small river that flowed towards the heart of the forest. The overgrowth of vines and bushes and flowers twisted and tangled into a chaotic mess of vibrant colors.[break][break] Even with all of the vegetation, there seemed to be plenty of entrances to the forest that were unobstructed. A path of slick, polished stones started at the forest's edge and extended inwards, seeming to follow the twists and turns of the river. From where she was standing Elisande could see at least one place where it split off into a smaller path that seemed to head into a different part of the forest, so she assumed there may be more divergent paths as well. "I can't believe this is real..." Elisande reached out gently to touch a bright pink flower. When she touched it it glowed with a soft pink light, returning to its resting state when she pulled her hand back. Still, it was reassuring to see a smile on his face when she returned. It was even better to hear that he was still interested in exploring the rest of the island as well. Everything here was so astonishingly beautiful. She wanted to see as much of it as possible, and having company for that adventure was comforting.[break][break] His desire to remain on this island for now made sense. Aside from the fact that it would surely take a bit of extra effort to get to any of the surrounding islands (which were a lot higher up and farther away than the platforms she had been jumping to), it seemed like a waste to not explore what was right here in front of them first. It was all equally new and exciting, after all. "Sounds good to me. The forest it is~"[break][break] Elisande chuckled softly when he said he didn't do much. It was true that her and Delphi were the ones to do all of the climbing and jumping, but having someone watching out for her was what gave her that extra little bit of confidence to perform some of those more daring jumps. It reassured her that if she fell, there was someone who could at least attempt to catch her. Or, in the absolute worst case scenario, help get her out of here if she severely injured herself.[break][break] She was about to speak up and give him credit for that, but she was stopped by the clicks and whistles of a celestial dolphin that was now floating around in a way that made it clear it was extremely proud of itself. The sight caused her to simply burst out laughing instead. She didn't have much in terms of protecting her face, so finding some way to manage that was her top priority. Unfortunately there didn't really seem to be much around that she could use aside from strands of bandages that had unraveled from the little mummy like creatures, and having those near her face didn't exactly seem like the best idea.[break][break]
Thankfully Fliss offered an alternative, and while it wasn't the most effective method, it would have to do for now. Before she hopped on the bike she had just barely caught a glimpse of what appeared to be the boss monster they were supposed to defeat. She gave a quick signal to Delphi, causing the dolphin to rapidly swim off in that direction. Only then would she swing her leg over the back of Fliss's bike and climb on.[break][break]
One of her arms wrapped around Fliss's waist as Elisande pressed her face into the other woman's back, holding on tight so that she wouldn't fall off. The other arm came up to rest against the side of her face, hopefully helping to block some of the sand from blowing into her eyes, nose and mouth from that direction. The only major problem was that she couldn't see what was going on very well like this. "Try to line us up with Miyah, if you can find her. If I read everything right I should be able to hit this thing pretty hard, as long as we get a bit closer."[break][break]
Delphi on the other hand was thriving. Being a summoned creature made of starlight, the sandstorm didn't seem to affect it too much. Not only that, but its echolocation was doing wonders for it being able to navigate through the sandstorm. Various clicks and whistles pierced through the air as the celestial dolphin twirled around Miyah and crashed into the enemy, only for Delphi to then swim off and begin to circle around for another attack.
