Streets replaced with flowing rapids. Skyscrapers that had come crashing down, interwoven with trees and vines and flowers. Some that still stood, rising taller than they ever had before. As she carefully ventured from street to street, walking across the horizontal buildings and bridges made from vines and tree branches to avoid drudging through the flooded streets, Elisande still couldn't believe her eyes. Days ago this was a massive, thriving city. Now it looked like it had been abandoned for eons.[break][break]
Eventually she came to a series of buildings that were still intact, despite the top of them just barely poking out above the water. It was maybe a ten foot drop from the rooftops to the water below. Elisande carefully made her way over to the edge of one of the rooftops, taking a seat with her legs dangling out over the water. She stared off into the distance, taking in this weird mixture of verdant jungle meeting concrete jungle.[break][break]
It was important to keep her guard up here. Even in her short journey so far, Elisande had already seen various different monsters off in the distance. So while she was enthralled by the scenery, she didn't let herself get too lost in thought. Her eyes were constantly scanning for any movement. She was listening carefully to everything going on around her. If anything approached, she would hopefully notice before it got too close. After about an hour of wandering, Yuki had found himself in what appeared to be the remnants of an incomplete apartment complex, the whole of it now listing diagonally as if having bashed against its side by a boulder. Disjointed metal jutted out from between shattered concrete, reaching towards its sunken neighbors and scraping against their rooftops.
The height didn’t faze him. The construction did. He’d never been to a massive city, though funnily enough, having it be barren and overwhelmed with nature made it easier for him to acclimate, not to mention easier to explore.
He paused, balance maintained on the high beam thanks to the tail spanning behind him. He had finally encountered someone. Squinting, he couldn’t decipher much of the stranger at this angle, but it appeared to be a girl sitting on the rooftop below, her vibrant pink hair a stark contrast against the bleak landscape.
The shock subsided to unease. It was an uncanny scene. He wasn’t fond of strangers either, but just up and leaving her there left a bad taste in his mouth. At least at this height, he had some leeway if she turned out to be an enemy.
Getting down to a crouch, he braced his hands into the metal and called out: “Oi! You, down there!”

It’s a bit surprising; as if the hair wasn’t out of place enough, she looked like one of those faces currently decking the half-wrecked billboards around the city.
But she was fine. Apparently not lost, just wandering. He heard her voice question his own motives and how exactly he got up at such a height.
He took a second. His eyes flicked to the rest of the path beside him. The rusted girder would lead him a few more rooftops past her. Now that he’d shown some courtesy, he could leave, if he wished.
An ear twitched, hearing something shifting in the ambient symphony of the barren city. Something that had, it seemed, caught his echo.
His shoulders fell as he exhaled. The man stood up, unblinking as he swung one foot forwards into the sheer drop, his body shifting on the way down.
What landed on the rooftop below was not a man. It shook its pelt, the height having been absorbed by a body designed for extreme heights, and thus feeling little of the impact that for an average person would have crushed them at the knees.
The snow leopard stared at her for a second, as if saying 'Like that.' before its eyes looked past her, growling quietly in warning of something’s approach.

There's no other indication of a threat other than the sounds that Yukiharu had initially picked up. The calm doesn't last long, however. Soon enough the sloshing of water as something breaks the surface can be heard. In one fluid motion the creature leaps out of the water and lands before the two, gurgling and growling at them.[break][break] Before them stands a humanoid creature with fish-like scales and fins. It holds a harpoon and a fishing net. While its clearly an aquatic creature, it doesn't seem to be uncomfortable on land. The two don't have time to take much more of a look at it before it strikes, attempting to use the element of surprise to its advantage. She wasn't initially sure if it was some kind of trap or if it was just the man's class. Once he landed and showed no aggression towards her she relaxed a bit, nervousness replaced with awe. It was pretty cool that he was able to do that, and it certainly explained how he was traversing the area so well.[break][break] It wasn't long before she was back on the defensive though. As the monster burst out of the water and landed on the rooftop Elisande prepared for combat. However, she had little time to process everything before she found the tip of the harpoon rapidly getting closer to her chest. As a somewhat panicked reaction her arms came up to protect herself and a flash of light appeared around her.[break][break] [attr="class","elisysbox"] [attr="class","elisysbar"] core ability used[break] [STAR MAP] Eridanus: You are veiled in several torrents of water filled with glittering stars. This river of light will passively buff your [WIL] by 20%. Anyone that damages you with a melee attack will take damage from the 'water' based on your [MAGI]. [break] Rivers of starlight swirled around her as she attempted to dodge the attack. It wasn't enough to get completely out of the way, but she at least managed to prevent the harpoon from piercing her chest. She ended up with a large gash across her bicep that caused her to wince and let out a pained gasp, but it was better than being impaled.[break][break] As soon as the spear drew blood a stream of starlight would surge out from the "water" surrounding her. It crashed into the creature and sent it tumbling across the rooftop, giving her some breathing room for now. She used the time to take a few steps back, but this was bad. Without Delphi accompanying her she had no way to deal any damage to the creature aside from her ability, and this new star map meant she would have to take damage to be helpful in that regard.
