It was a familiar tale. She had experienced the same, with different people in a different place. The key pieces of information she picked up from this were that he was from Japan and supposedly had a crew. Perhaps he was looking for them?[break][break]
With no explanation of what he was doing, the barrier forming around Elisande wasn't exactly comforting immediately. She wasn't quite sure what he had done. When he kicked at her her natural reaction was to step back and guard herself, but as soon as it became apparent that it was a demonstration seemingly meant to put her more at ease she was quick to relax a bit. Even so, she didn't let her guard down. Even with his barriers she didn't want to be taken by surprise by some kind of creature. "What happened to your crew?" In fact, the thought hadn't even crossed her mind. Seeing him get all flustered by the question made it impossible for her to not chuckle under her breath.[break][break]
The actual explanation for how everything worked was simpler than she imagined. The whole thing about stars and rarities went a bit over her head, but she was able to infer enough to make sense of it. A higher number of stars likely meant a higher rarity. The only thing she wasn't making sense of was what determined how rare a creature was. Luckily it wasn't necessary for her to have it completely figured out since it was his class and not hers. That being said, she wouldn't shy away from an opportunity to see how the process worked if given the chance. Helping him hatch his egg seemed like the best way of doing that.[break][break]
As Orvis seemed to be getting comfortable on the beach Elisande would make her way over as well. "I came here a lot when I was growing up. It's a beautiful place." She thought about what he meant by it "feeling real" compared to the rest of the world. It hadn't really fully resonated with her just how different everything else felt until she was standing here on the beach, the familiarity of it all drastically contrasting how weird it was to feel like you were living in a video game. She looked up at him in disbelief as he reoriented himself and got his bearings. In the context of her being able to summon a dolphin made of starlight and some of the other abilities she had seen people use she supposed it wasn't exactly the strangest thing she had seen recently. Elisande was quick to chime in and correct him, not wanting him to worry for her. "Ah, no. My family is fine. I appreciate the offer, though." She hadn't meant to make it seem like she was in the same boat, and was hoping her saying her family was fine would cause him relief rather than resentment.[break][break]
The way he spoke about his younger sister was heartwarming. It was clear even from their small interaction so far that he cared deeply about her. Elisande expected no less considering the fact that he was so desperately searching for her, but it was still nice to hear him talk about their family dynamic and the things they had done together.[break][break]
"She's always going on and on about how much she wanted to travel the world..."[break][break]
Elisande thought a bit on this before speaking up. "Well, perhaps she's trying to kill two birds with one stone? If she really wanted to travel that much, this is an opportunity to do so... albeit one that came at a cost." She paused for a brief moment. "Perhaps she doesn't know where to start looking? She was now on a small floating island that she had barely been able to get to with the help of Delphi. How was she supposed to get back down easily?[break][break]
While she contemplated her options she decided to enjoy the view from her new vantage point. Everything about this place was even more magical from up high. She could still see the roaring waters of the waterfalls crashing down around the main island they were on, but she could also see out over the canopy of the forest. It seemed to stretch on for as far as the eye could see, but there were also a few places where there seemed to be clearings. And off in the distance there were even a few places that looked like they might be natural bridges to some of the other islands.[break][break]
Her planning on how to get down very quickly devolved into her getting lost in the scenery. It was the sound of an eager dolphin that snapped her out of it. Still, with no easy way down in sight, she let out a sigh. "I guess we're heading back the way we came."[break][break]
The way back down was slightly easier, if only for the fact that the height differences of the small land masses she was jumping between were easier to traverse going down than going up. Eventually she would arrive down on the ground and make her way back to Min-su, excitedly holding up the star map with a smile on her face. "Done~"[break][break]
She clapped her hands together. "Now then, back to exploring? I think I have a better idea of the lay of the land now." She pointed over towards the nearby forest. "The forest seems to go on indefinitely, but it looked like there were a bunch of clearings scattered throughout it. We could maybe find something interesting there." She then turned the other way, pointing past the rocky outcrop she had just used to get up to the star map. "And over that way I think I saw a way to get to some of the other islands."[break][break]

As she walked Delphi swam circles through the air around her, twisting and twirling gracefully. Every once in a while the celestial dolphin would swim up towards Adam, circle around him once, then return back to Elisande. Elisande herself would keep a decent distance from Adam, but she made sure she was close enough to not get separated and still be able to talk to him without having to yell.[break][break]

She saw no reason not to listen after seeing him do so. She looked over towards him, then let her gaze follow his own. As the creature popped up out of the ground and she saw him grab his sword Elisande just sighed and shook her head. Almost immediately afterwards a smile crossed her face. "Awwww~ it's so cute! Even so, she thought back to her tutorial. The creatures that had emerged from the sands were cute in their own right... before they revealed just how deadly they could be. With a quick nod of her head she sent Delphi forward, the dolphin slowly swimming right up to the creature. This way they could gauge its reaction and see whether or not it was hostile. When he seemed to indicate that he wanted her to join him Elisande slowly made her way over. She made sure to walk up on the side of him away from where he had just emptied his bladder, and when she arrived she chose to stand rather than sit. She was still in the process of deciding how she felt about his individual, after all.[break][break]
She looked down towards his art display, curious what he was wanting to show her. It seemed like his artistic capabilities weren't exactly top notch, and admittedly she had no idea what she was looking at just at first glance. "What is it?" She was straightforward and to the point with her question. "Also, isn't it a bit impolite to ask something of someone before introducing yourself?"[break][break]
While part of the reason she stayed standing was due to not being completely comfortable with this stranger, the other part was their environment. Elisande kept her eyes peeled for threats, surveying the surroundings as she spoke with him. With all of the overgrowth, ruined buildings and flooded streets, it would be relatively easy for something to approach without being noticed. She just hoped that wouldn't be the case. Elisande had been spending most of her waking hours interacting with the new systems in place and exploring the new world. Today was different. It was a beautiful day in Los Angeles. Warm, but not too hot. Sunny with barely a cloud in the sky. A perfect day to laze about. She slept in a bit, waiting until just before noon to actually get out of bed and get her day started. The absence of coffee was enough to drive Elisande to get up and get ready to go out. Soon enough she was standing in front of her favorite coffee shop, and only moments later she had a drink in hand and a pastry to go with it. She took a seat by the windows near the front of the shop so she could watch the people passing by as she enjoyed her breakfast. A satisfied "ahhh~" escaped her lips as she took the first sip of her coffee. She was no top athlete, but she was confident in her ability to do something like this. She had some experience with gymnastics when she was younger, and she was generally a graceful person. "I think I should be fine, so don't worry."[break][break]
As she got closer she felt a bit of nervous excitement building up within her. Elisande looked back towards him one last time before beginning her climb to give him a reassuring smile, then began her climb. Actually getting to a point where she could leap across to the first floating island was simple enough. Time consuming considering the fact she was taking it slow and being careful, but simple enough. It was a different story once she made it to the point she was going to have to jump.[break][break]
The first leap was easy. The gap between the outcrop and the nearest floating island was fairly small, and it was no different from jumping over a small puddle. She could tell that it would only get more difficult from here, though. The second leap was a bit harder, but she still managed. She landed on a small platform on the side of the next island and managed to climb her way up to the top. "Go ahead and try, Delphi."[break][break]
The dolphin swam off towards the star map, but to both its and Elisande's frustration, it stopped just short. It seemed she would need to get slightly higher. The next island was too far away for her to make the jump on her own however.[break][break]
Elisande took a little while to look around for another way up, but she had no luck. Then she had an idea. She wasn't sure if it was a good idea, but it was an idea. She made her way over towards the edge of the floating island she was on and got a decent idea of the distance she would need. She felt like she could do it. "Okay Delphi, I'm counting on you. Help me out here!"[break][break]
She took a few steps back and got a running start, leaping up into the air and out off of the island as far as she could. It was clearly not enough to get her to the next island. Meanwhile Delphi was circling below, gaining speed as the celestial dolphin surged up towards Elisande. As the reached the zenith of her jump she pushed down with her right foot, just in time for Delphi to be there and give her an upwards push. The combination of her pushing off of Delphi and the dolphin's momentum giving her some extra height just barely landed her on the edge of the next island.[break][break]
Adrenaline rushed through her as she gathered her footing and stepped away from the edge. Without needing to say anything her companion knew what it needed to do. Delphi swam up towards the star map and started to bring it back towards Elisande. Once it was in her hand she gave the dolphin a pat on the head. If it was anything like hers, she imagined most people would have been a bit shaken up by their experience. Aside from a brief excursion just outside the city bounds of Los Angeles, she had yet to really do much exploration of her own.
