The usefulness of the guidebook cannot be stressed, and everyone would be in a better spot if they had one of them. Hikari would surely treasure hers, and will have to read it more in-depth later on once she gets back to the place she is currently staying at. Hopefully, she can one day contribute to its entries, giving a piece of her work to Dee Dee in order to help those who truly need guidance.

"The Double Decker Cheeseburger?" She asked, taking the burger and its accompaniments. In her previous life, she would have never been caught dead with this kind of food. Hikari was proud of her health, and maintained a strict diet which ensured that she got her proper nutritions, while also being able to snack here and there with moderation. A whole meal like this, however? "Let's see how much I enjoy it then. Itadakimasu!" She bit into the burger.

"Oh! This is amazing!" She would exclaim through bites. Hikari's taste buds were on overdrive. She had not known how much she had been craving food that tasted like the old world until she had Dee Dee's cooking. Now she can see why she was so popular with the masses.

As she finished her food, she would respond in kind. "I feel like it's more of a symbiotic relationship. Combat classes need non-combat classes, while non-combat classes need combat classes. We each have our own role to play. What do you think?" She mused at that thought.

Hikari agreed with Dee Dee wholeheartedly. Of course, there were people who had been prepared for this. But those were few and far between. After all, many did not expect for the world to end up the way they did. Even Hikari had not been prepared at all. However, she at least was ready for the change, willing to change, and happy for it too.

"I suppose this is why having a guidebook is so important, which makes your work very much so. After all, these people need that guidance on how to proceed forward, warning them of the dangers, and preparing them for what's to come." It was a task Dee Dee wholeheartedly took, of her own volition as well. Hikari wasn't sure if she herself would have done the same under the same circumstances. Perhaps she was more selfish, though she would not admit it out loud.

"Oh! Of course! I would love to try your famous cooking. I'd love to try your best seller please and thank you!" Hikari smiled as she ordered. Just the thought of Dee Dee's cooking has made her salivate, though she would not outwardly show it. She was hungrier than she thought.

So she had been correct in her assumption. It was another person who had a farming skill of some sort. Bartering worked that way, after all. "That's amazing that players can help players that way. It's unfortunate that my class isn't as helpful as those of your friends', but I suppose my services can be rendered in exchange for goods." She mused.

It seems as though she was perpetually tied to this woman, at least, a part of her was. Perhaps there were relationships one forges that can never be severed in this new world. If so, having Dee Dee as one of them was very welcome. [break][break] "I have read the mission, and am ready. We shall be in your care once again." She bowed slightly, before turning her attention towards the road. She had talked to some of the passers-by while waiting for Dee Dee, and she had uncovered some interesting information regarding the current trade and caravan route and what they might face. [break][break] "I had been speaking to some of the travelers, and it seems that the main concern are goblins who have taken residence along the route. They have been harassing caravans, and raiding the smaller settlements around. It seems as though Paris booming has attracted their unwanted attention." She shifted on her feet, stretching for a moment, before continuing, "It's a roving band, possibly six to eight, and with a leader who's larger than the rest." Easy enough to pick out at least. The bat looked normal to Hikari, though it was certainly larger than what was expected. The fact that there were other types of bats, monster ones, intrigued Hikari. What were their differences? How can one tell what kind of monster bat one was fighting? This world truly held possibilities which Hikari was only scratching the surface of.

"Perhaps this is a new type of monster bat?" She examined the bat further, before moving forwards and following Dee Dee's path. "If I find more, I will be sure to strike it down for your guide book. It might be useful to know the new types of creatures that might be found specifically in Paris." As they continued, Hikari found herself using her Shotsuren once more. With one stroke, she impaled one more bat, which looked eerily the same to the one prior. She herself took note of the bat, which perhaps might be added later to Dee Dee's notes.

As they went deeper and deeper, Hikari slowly remembered the tour she had gone as a teenager. The Parisian catacombs were dangerous to those who did not follow the proper paths. The tour guide had said so, especially with how dangerous some of the paths can get. One can get lost, and never be seen again. There were hallways and passages that were yet mapped, and places where air is too thin to breath in.

"Then shall we delve deeper then?" Hikari smiled, agreeing with Dee Dee as she continued to follow. Of course, she was right. The catacombs so far had had no skulls displayed. It seems there was a reason why they needed to delve deeper. And the deeper they went, the more monsters there will be. She was glad that her Daitsuren was unsheathed now, at-the-ready alongside Shotsuren. "Be careful Dee Dee, I can sense...danger ahead." It smelled foul, and her senses were assaulted with dread and despair.

It seems as though everyone in the world started flocking to the city of love. And where there are people, there needs to be supplies. That was where this mission came in. [break][break] Hikari was unsurprised that this mission popped up as she was strolling through the borders of Paris. Of course the supply lines must be opened, and caravan routes must be established. Therefore, there must needs be a safety net establish along the planned routes by the tradesmen. That was where Hikari and her partner came in. Their task was to make sure that the route was safe and secure, while making note of possible hazards, and clearing them as they go. [break][break] It was simple enough, and Hikari liked being able to explore the world while going on these missions. Why not get paid while learning? She got her fan out, and started cooling herself. She had decided to stay in the shade while waiting for her companion for this mission. However, the heat of the sun can be unbearable at times. Her swords, while usually obeying her fan motions, kept still and floated around her. It stopped those who might think that she was an easy target. [break][break] Breathing a small sigh, she cursed the heat. Well, in any case, it seems as though her partner has arrived. And it was someone she was very used to working with. [break] |

Hikari watched as the woman approached. She felt like she had seen her somewhere before. Was she famous? Had been part of the entourages of those she had mingled with during her previous life. A daughter of some tycoon perhaps? Or possibly a politicians daughter? Maybe even a child of a famous singer or actress? She couldn't put her finger on it, and it bugged her to no end.

When she introduced herself, Hikari smiled in turn and bowed slightly. "Hikari, a pleasure to make your acquaintance." She then turned to the other figure, an odd looking man who introduced himself with what seemed to be a moniker instead of a name. She smiled in turn and bowed towards the man as well. "A pleasure to make yours as well, mister Enigma." She then turned to the woman once again and started asking, "A guild? I'm unsure what a guild entails..." She left that hanging, though now they were all distracted by the other person.

A musician who was seeking last requests. How interesting. She supposed buskers existed in this new world still. After all, some people must have classes that revolved around song and music. Perhaps this person was one of those? Instead of requesting, she would sit back and watch. Her music tastes have always been a bit odd, having been more enthused by musicals and classicals more than anything. "A classical tune would be welcome, indeed." She would whisper to herself more than anything. At the back of her mind, she was still churning the word "guild", however.

A part of Hikari relished in what just transpired. Her anger at those who would take advantage of others was sated for now, and watching them run away, hobbling and crying, made it all the better. This world was lacking in morals, especially with the consequences of crime being few and far between. She would do her part, not only because she felt the need to, but also because she wanted this world to be a safer place for all. Or perhaps she had become deranged? Who knows?

"It was a team effort, Andy." She smiled, and bowed slightly before letting her swords float down and away. She would not let them sheathe without first completing their mission. Her naivete had been robbed when she first stepped into this new world. This was a man eat man world, and she would be the one who eats. At least, that was the plan.

She peered around, before slowly making her way around the shelves. The things left by those who fled were quickly stowed away, hopefully, they were of value. In the end, their mission was their foremost concern. She had little time to idle. The faster they could get this done, the better.

When Andy exclaimed that he had found it, Hikari made her way toward the man. She smiled slightly at their prize, before making their way back. She would finally introduce herself to the knife-wielding man. "You may call me Hikari, Andy. It was a pleasure working with you. Perhaps we may meet one day soon." Once more she gave a bow, before they went towards their client.

She had measured her partner in this mission well. Her assumption that he was more seasoned than he looked proved to be true as he immediately reacted to her attack. The way Andy had dealt with the other man was swift and efficient. In fact, she admired his viciousness and the way he effectively disabled their would-be assailant in one swift act.

"Oh, what do we do now." Hikari smiled as she took her fan, and slashed it forward. Her Shotsuren followed suit, creating a small gust as it flew straight towards the Achilles heel of the one he had incapacitated, eliciting a howl of pain as it gouged deep. She loathed people who took advantage of the innocent, even more on those who preyed on their fellow men. She would suffer none of them, especially not in this world where law and order are dubious already.

Her eyes burned with passion, almost hatred, but with a hint of joy. "What to do with you, indeed. Tell me, do you have any companions? Shall they, come out?" She spoke in such an eerie tone that she herself was surprised. This was truly a change in her, one she kind of enjoyed and reveled in. "Or shall they...run away."

With a grin, she looked around. Her Shotsuren was now hovering beside her. However, what would cause someone to truly fear her visage was the fact that her second sword was now unsheathing itself. This second sword was longer, and more menacing than her first sword.

"If I were you, I would run away as far as possible. Throw everything that you scavenged from this store, and maybe even those you scavenged in other stores. We'll forget this happened, and you'll be good boys and girls in the foreseeable future, hm?" She called out loud, and added, "Or my friend's knives here, as well as my swords, will do more than just maim." Shotsuren, her first sword, gleamed in anticipation, still dripping in blood. Now it was their move.

Hikari listened to Dee Dee, nodding at her every point. She was right, of course, lacking light would not work well for them. It was good that Dee Dee herself came prepared. Hikari had been hoping that her swords would protect her. But then again, she seemed woefully unprepared in comparison to the likes of Dee Dee. Her partner, after all, was way more verse in this.

"Your plans are sound. Thank you, Dee Dee." She bowed towards the woman, before attaching the flashlights to her sword handles. Only Shotsuren was unsheathed for now, although all of her swords now illuminated the path. She smiled as she realized just how useful this would be. Her swords will do her bidding, and she will dance to the tune of her own music.

Starting to follow the woman, Hikari found herself mesmerized by the catacombs. Once more, it was truly a marvel to behold. The history it held was rich. She did not, however, forget Dee Dee's instructions. As they walked, Hikari made sure to tape their path to keep track of their turns. The woman in front of her had been practical. This was a lesson for Hikari as to how to approach missions. Next time, she will come better prepared.

At the sound of bats, Hikari immediately flung her Shotsuren forward, guiding it with her fan.[break][break]
"Hmm..." She mused, "there seems to be quite a few pests here." Her attack had impaled one of the bats which had tried to swoop on her. "I suppose rabies can still be very deadly in these situations." She wasn't sure, but it was likely that disease can still affect people. "Best be careful." She smiled sweetly, continuing her trek forward with Dee Dee. "Please rely on me to guard our rear, Dee Dee. I shall do my best. Keep me updated on what you see in front of us, if you would be so kind."

"I suppose that's very fair. Patience is a virtue we all must have during these times." People would have gone through various things prior to coming to this world. Her own tutorial had been quite traumatic, though Hikari handled the job well. Most other people would have not been alright after having assassinated and killed people, even if they had not been truly real. Perhaps Hikari herself was not alright in that sense, being able to do what she did without remorse.

She smiled at Dee Dee's comment, before responding, "You aren't the only one. I seem to do just fine even after what the tutorial had me and my partner do." She shrugged at the thought. Perhaps there was truly something wrong with her. Who knows? She would not complain about it. Especially if it made her who she was. She was happy to be where she was at right now, especially her circumstances. She would not trade it away.

So it was a combined effort then. That was a relief. That meant that there were a lot of people in this world who were at least of the mind to help others. That meant that there was still good in this world, not just lawless chaos. This was good news, and meant that Hikari can truly build something in this world for herself.

How fast do they grow, and how can you get so many?" Farms produced tomatoes, that was for certain, but with how much Dee Dee was using, it must mean that she had a big supplier. Perhaps a person with powers over plants?

The streets of Paris have not been the same since The Light, and Hikari was seeing it first hand. The shops that she had frequented were not all but gone, and those she had seen sprout up from the ashes were not the same. The Parisians were all but resilient, however. Those who remained made their lives here, as best as they can. Well, as best as one can when it comes to situations like these. There was danger lurking everywhere, and most have to get by with just surviving.

She placed her fan on her chest as she milled about. Her swords were a deterrent for many from approaching her. After all, floating weapons around a person, especially a woman, can be seen as a thread to many. It suited her just fine. Those who would dare approach her, then, would be worth her while. She would not suffer cowards nor catcallers, especially not those who saw themselves as her better, and therefore try to take advantage of her.

Fanning herself elegantly, she slowly made her way around a busier area within the Parisian metropolitan, when she locked eyes with a woman who seemed to be peering everywhere, looking at random strangers as though she was searching for something. Hikari was never one to look away, and therefore locked her gaze with the woman. She gave her a small smile, and a bow. A gesture of greeting, though she wasn't sure why she was being polite. Perhaps it was because the woman looked familiar in some ways. Was she also of Japanese descent?

That was true. Dee Dee had been spot on with that assessment. Of course, those who just came out of tutorials would not truly know what awaited them. And those who were used to being rude and getting their way would harbour the same sentiments until they were otherwise informed. But of course, those people would not be the norm. The norm would be those who arrive into this world fearful and confused.

"You're right, of course." She nodded along, "people who first arrive aren't used to how the world runs. It has become far more dangerous." It truly has, and only those with a will to survive will thrive and grow. "We must make the most out of the situation, of course. For if we do not, then how can we truly live?" Truly a kind soul, Hikari would not hesitate to lift a finger when it comes to Dee Dee's defense. But then again, the woman could defend herself well enough, after all. Now, herself? Perhaps not.

Hikari jolted at the memory of the book she was handed, and quickly took it out of her inventory. "Oh! Yes, this!" She couldn't believe she had forgotten, although to be fair, the altercation had been too entertaining. "A guide, truly." She marveled at the book, "How were you able to compile all of this information? Did you have help from others, or is this your own doing?" There was something to be said about her dedication. She then turned as she found herself by Dee Dee's summons going around once more. "You also seem to have a lot of tomatoes here. Is there a reason for such a theme?"

Hikari smiled as she saw Dee Dee was to be her partner. In truth, she had enjoyed the company of the odd woman. She was certainly dependable, and has the capacity to be a top contender in everything she did. From what Hikari had seen, however, the woman was not the rabid type who hungered to be the strongest. No, she was a kind soul, a helpful spirit, and someone whom Hikari had grown to admire.

"Of course it has, Dee Dee." She bowed, "and I'm glad you are to be my partner." That was the truth, and she would have no other person to guide her than the person who was known to guide those who were new to this world. "Please take care of me, as you have before." She bowed once again.

Turning her attention to the catacombs, she immediately felt the sense of adventure. What was hidden within those dark and empty halls? What would they find? It was all too exciting for Hikari, though she would not let herself show that. No, instead she would smile and let Dee Dee lead the way. She would support her, as per usual.

"Thank you for your concern. I should be fine." She nodded. "In fact, the small hallways work well for me. After all, my swords do all my work, and truly, they work well when enemies are in small places. It becomes a...trap for the monsters as my swords make mince meat of them." Hikari smiled politely, before gesturing forward. "Shall we?"

Hikari gave her a smile, and responded in kind, "The pleasure is mine, miss Akane." She gave the other woman a small bow, before she fully disappeared. What an interesting woman, and her class is so intriguing. Perhaps she can ask her about it one day [break][break] Turning her attention back towards the war fans, Hikari was just about to reach over and grab it when another message was sent to her. It seems she was going to be teleported away, which both irked and relieved Hikari's spirit. Perhaps another day for these war fans. [break][break] Her hopes dashed, she quietly accepted the teleport back to where she had been staying for the night. The tutorial certainly gave her a chance to learn more about how classes worked, and how well items can be useful in certain situations.
