Ollie’s personality flipped like night and day when he thought that Nik was trying to kill his snake. Nik was oblivious to the fact that he was throwing a dagger even if it was going to heal whatever it struck. Nik’s facial expression became shocked and apologetic. “Oh no, I’m sorry Ollie. That is my healing ability. I saw that your snake was injured during that scuffle. I didn’t think it would be wise to carry on this early in our adventure while injured. “

Nikolas had dumped a ton of points into his levels and had just unlocked a new sub-class. He was quite curious about the full potential of this sub-class. First things first, Nik took out his Tome and started to flip through the pages. The status window on the item appeared showing that it had indeed been upgraded and evolved into a new item. He had just opened his status screen to read over the new abilities that he unlocked when the rumble of walls and shifting dust from above diverted his attention.

”What was that?” Stones started to collapse and all of a sudden a rush of dust and debris forced him to close the screens and cover his face. “Ollie?” He shouted out before it settled. Ollie was still right there by him but another figure loomed off in the distance. Nikolas’ eyes strained to make out the figure but they were just too far away from the pair. Everything in his head was telling Nikolas that this was not a good place to be. They needed to get out of there. Most of his abilities were on cooldown at this point too, placing him in quite a precarious of situations. He still had some items handy though, so maybe they would aid in their escape. “Do we run or try to fight it?” He asked timidly towards Ollie. The statue didn’t seem to be the type to let its enemies formulate a plan. No, it was already in action. A spear was whizzing through the air right at the two of them. With no other options at the moment, Nikolas activated his newest ability. He held out his hand a burst of flames crackled to life. The flames formed themselves into a spear. The flaming spear would blast from his palm and race right towards the golem’s own. As the two met in the air, they collided causing a loud bang and a cloud of dust to appear. While Nik had been able to negate the incoming attack, he was down yet another ability. “I don’t know if its going to let us just run away…”

Nikolas was nodding off when a young man approached his table. He sat up and started to shuffle the small trinkets on the table around. A stone eye rolled off the table and onto the streets. "Oh no!" He scrambled to grab the eye and polished it off on his shirt. After his chaotic start, Nikolas tried to compose himself and speak to the potential customer. "Ah, hello and welcome! Oh, the special offer?" Nik stuttered a little as he was trying to find the right words to use. "The special offer is a single trip to a place that many don't ever have the luck to find." He started to place some of the items on the table back into his inventory. "Just down this ally is an apartment that I've rented out for the time being. I can take you there and we can get on with the special offer." He was in the process of shoving a rolling pin into the inventory when it dawned on him that he had not even stated what the offer was and based on how he was presenting it, one might think he was a prostitute or something. Not wanting to lose the customer, he pulled them in close by the shoulder so he could whisper. "It's the Forge. I can take you there." He gave a wink and started to walk away from the customer, looking back just to make sure he was following him. "Come on, this way!"

Okay, so maybe exploring the Mists around the guild base alone wasn’t the wisest move but hey Nik wasn’t claiming to be the smartest man out there. He was however curious as to the region that they were going to make their home. While he had heard some rumors of the mists from the Hub and other adventurers, he had not done too much combat while out here. From what he heard, the Mist was a land filled with robots and undead. The undead was not too big of a concern for him. He could fly and his light seemed to deal double damage to the vampires due to their undead condition before. Would that mean that he could kill them quickly too? He would find out. This excursion was for explorative as well as to test his abilities. Nikolas started to float slightly off the ground for a moment.

“Okay, let’s see what we find out there…” He said as he took off from the floating island he was currently on and started to ascend higher. From up here, he could get a little bit better of a view, even if the mist made it limited. Once up, he saw the small island where the temple was located and the adjacent one where the guild was founded. There were several other islands chained together, seeing how they would be his new neighbors it would be worth popping over onto them first. Nik flew over to the island and landed. His sword and sketchbook were both in hand and ready to go. What monster might he find here?

Nik gritted his teeth. Ten minutes in and he’s already having to use his abilities. Not just his own but one of the ones he had copied. While he was not too sure how this power would play out in a team, he knew he could give himself a nice boost and finish off the remaining statues in one go. He just had to hope there was enough breathing time between the next fight for his cooldowns to fall off. A screen had popped up alerting both Ollie and Nik that Nik’s passive had bumped up in terms of effect. They could each pick one stat and have it risen by +1 rank temporarily. Nik knew immediately the combo he was about to utilize. He placed the point immediately into his [MAGI]. He shouted before his eyes changed to an odd pattern. “Hold still Ollie!” A clock seemed to form on his pupil and the space around him became drastically slower. As it did, an aura engulfed him. His [MAGI] stat was not buffed +1 but by +2! It sored from a C-rank skill to an A-rank one.

A magic circle appeared overhead and thirteen streams of light poured down. The light would quickly weave its way to the stone statues and begin to berate them until the statues were falling apart. Their slowed movements coupled with Nik’s huge boost in power would spell doom for them. As the last statue fell, Nikolas threw a dagger of light toward the serpent that had been taking a beating. As the dagger melted into the flesh of the snake, its wounds would begin to heal. The dust around the men was thick and it warped the light from the few torches lit. Nik wasn’t out of breath but it was a bit of a toll on his stamina to utilize three abilities like that at once. “You two okay?” He said in a careful tone. “Let’s take a moment to collect ourselves. There’s something I need to do…” This temple might have been a lot more difficult than he originally suspected. Perhaps, Nik was taking things a bit too safe. “I think I need to level up some before we go any further. I might not make it at my current level.”

He pulled up his character screen and started to distribute points to his level and stats. Before he was done he had gotten a prompt to pick a sub-class. “A sub-class? What’s this?” Nik selected the option ‘Arcane Alchemist’. The screen pulled up and Nik read what came with this sub-class. His eyes widened as he noticed that it was just not a sub-class that was new for him. The sketchbook in his hand had also upgraded. “Oh wow, this was not what I was expecting.” With his new class, Nik had a new ability at his disposal while down here. He also had some potential to really change the world with this new passive. “Ollie, when we get out of here I think we’ll need to do some business.” He said giving the man a smile.

It had only been a week since the pair had finished that dreaded Temple. It was a challenge but both Ollie and Nikolas made it out alive. Not just that, both walked away with some new gear and in Nikolas’ case a whole new class. His Arcane Alchemist class had unlocked during that trial and boy had he been glad it did. The class gave some great benefits. He knew that once he really unlocked its mysteries he could really change the world for the better.

Standing on a floating island neighboring the Temple of the Architect, Nikolas waited for Ollie’s arrival. He was wearing a simple white-looking hoodie, which was actually his robe in disguise, a blade on his hip, and his trusty sketchbook tucked under his arm. The pair of them had gotten along rather well and there were talks of pairing up for some trade. Why not push that further than just a simple arrangement? Emir had met a guild leader and joined one of those things. Why not Nik? He had half of the medallion needed to kickstart a guild. He had a suspicion Ollie did as well. The two of them with their abilities with items would be unmatched economically. They could really carve out a life for themselves if they played their cards right. He had sent Ollie a message three days before asking him to meet Nik in this area. Both of them had flying skills, so it shouldn’t have been too treacherous for Ollie to find Nik out here.
