Okay, so maybe exploring the Mists around the guild base alone wasn’t the wisest move but hey Nik wasn’t claiming to be the smartest man out there. He was however curious as to the region that they were going to make their home. While he had heard some rumors of the mists from the Hub and other adventurers, he had not done too much combat while out here. From what he heard, the Mist was a land filled with robots and undead. The undead was not too big of a concern for him. He could fly and his light seemed to deal double damage to the vampires due to their undead condition before. Would that mean that he could kill them quickly too? He would find out. This excursion was for explorative as well as to test his abilities. Nikolas started to float slightly off the ground for a moment.

“Okay, let’s see what we find out there…” He said as he took off from the floating island he was currently on and started to ascend higher. From up here, he could get a little bit better of a view, even if the mist made it limited. Once up, he saw the small island where the temple was located and the adjacent one where the guild was founded. There were several other islands chained together, seeing how they would be his new neighbors it would be worth popping over onto them first. Nik flew over to the island and landed. His sword and sketchbook were both in hand and ready to go. What monster might he find here?

A large howl could be heard, bellowing from out, but mixed within it was the musing of something elegant, something beautiful and mystifying. It was alluring almost, and it made one yearn to understand it, to step closer...[break][break] As Nik would land on the island and move closer, battle ready and for good reason, he would find the mist began to part, and clear almost, revealing a spectral elegantly dropped woman, her eyes and mouth were sunken so far that they were nothing but empty black pits. A pool of water seemed to swell and swirl around the bottom of her dress flowing dress that swirled just as the water did, yet dozens of living butterflies adorned her dress, flowing off her and fluttering around.[break][break]  [break] Raising her pale hands slightly she began to spin, and dance, the butterflies flowing off her in a beautiful entrancing dance. Nikolas would find himself becoming colder, the air around him becoming colder filling with an ominous chill. It was as if something dangerous were about happen. The butterflies are able to be destroyed by damage equal to the banshee's [VIT] but more will be summoned at the start of each post. The ability lasts for three posts before a five-post cooldown.[break][break] Debauching Mist - The banshee creates a shroud of mist around her that is equal to her MAGI /2 in meters. Within it, she gains [Stealth] equal to her [SPD]. Additionally, all hostile enemies are given a 25% reduction in [MAGI] and [WIL]. While within the mist those trapped within it will experience illusions and feelings of joy and overindulgence in things that bring them joy so much so to the point that it's obsessive and drives them into sickness. This ability is instant and last 2 posts before a three-post cooldown.[break][break] Song of Demise - The banshee begins to sing though the faint sound of whaling can be heard like a whisper mixed within her enchanting voice. No sooner had he landed on this rock did a ghostly figure. Her scream echoed across the empty mists. “Well, I don’t like the sound of this.” He said with a slight worried grin. Nikolas was not the bravest of souls. He was emboldened by his new abilities and fancy items. This was the real deal and neither Emir or Ollie were around to give him back up. Nikolas stood a few steps back. He drew his blade and met his enemy.

He wasn’t expecting to see a woman standing before him… well floating before him. Nikolas tried to take a moment to assess the situation. “A ghost, not what I was expecting. The temple had statues. I figured I’d find more of those around here.” He glanced down to the pool that she was hovering over, raising an eyebrow at the odd pale butterflies floating from it. “This can’t be good.”

Nikolas raised the hand holding his blade. It was tilted to be completely horizontal. His finger pointed out and he fired off a blast of gold light. It didn’t seem to phase the ghost much, prompting Nikolas to take another step back. “Jeez, this doesn’t bode well.” Nikolas tensed his leg muscles for a moment before kicking off and flying backwards. At the same time he would slash his blade out activating his Four Element ability. A blade of flames roared out and slammed into the banshee as Nikolas placed a bit of distance between the two. What are you going to do next?”

Butterflies swarmed out from the pale woman like embers on a stoked fire. Nikolas braced himself for their inevitable rush at him. He held the blade up while his shield of light wrapped around him. The butterflies bombarded the shield but they were not strong enough to bypass it. He floated there above the ground watching carefully. It seemed that once she was doing this dance she was stuck in place. If he could get up close, he might be able to deal some damage to her at least. “Well, I know you’re not strong enough to get through my defenses.” His grip tightened on his blade. He made a fluid slash through the air. “I’m going to have to risk that I can beat your defenses before you beat mine.” He said under his breath.

Nikolas’ previous attempt to harm the woman was null, it seemed she had quite the defense and he suspected also a reserve of health. He was going to have to burst through her somehow. It was a gamble, but he didn’t have a choice. He pulled up his status screen and quickly dumped his points into his level. As he leveled up he reached level 37. A whole four levels! Was it enough to beat the banshee bitch? His new ability loaded into his kit along with a few new interesting items. “This will do.”

He knew that he could set himself up with a win. First though, he needed to set the stage. Nikolas fired off his class’ core ability. The golden light became a javelin, piercing through the mist. Nikolas then activated his new skill, Managua Camouflage. The light around him began to warp and he took on the appearance of a simple ghoul, floating in the sky. Confused, the Banshee would stop her dance, the butterflies faded as she made screeching calls to the new Nikolas.

How long would this last? Not long enough. She was fooled for now but he knew that this new skill would fade eventually. He floated about watching the banshee with a keen eye. How he wished Emir was here. He could at least deal some quick damage while Nikolas stayed in his supporting role. Just a few more minutes and his passive would come online and he could make his move.

He had a combo in mind. His new abilities, Rewrite Forumla and Elemental Fusion could really play off each other well, he was just going to have to plan this right. If he did, he could do a burst of damage that would be probably enough to stagger her a bit, maybe even enough to make her flee. The butterflies bombarded his golden shield once more. He knew that it could probably withstand one more assault before it would shatter and go on its cooldown. Once it was gone, he was going to have to really think on his toes.

Nikolas saw from the corner of his eye that it seemed as if more ghouls and ghosts were starting to take notice of the banshee and her constant wail. I’ve got to shut this chick up before things take a nosedive. He thought to himself. As he was about to float back to gain some distance he noticed that something happened, his ability kicked online. He selected his [MAGI] stat and saw his rank go from C to B. His eyes shifted and the light around his body started to shimmer away. “Sorry, I’ve got to end this.” The woman began to turn but she was caught in his slowing ability as his [MAGI] rose yet another rank from B to A. He jabbed his dagger right into her heart as his blade slowly fell to the ground. After stabbing her, he would cancel his flight and fall downward.

As he fell, he would grab his blade and slice upward striking the woman. As he did, his [PWR] would dramatically jump up, while not a crazy amount it was enough to still deal her quite the bit of damage. As he kept falling, a magic circle would whip at the woman. Bands of light would grip onto her and drag her downward with Nikolas. He reactivated flight and kicked off flight backward out of the path of the now falling banshee. As he did, he slashed the air with his blade summoning the magical blade of light. “Lucky me for having such high vitality. “ He really was lucky, while he had been firing off abilities he was still feeling fresh. Throwing his base light blast, he further pumped damage into he banshee and would leave her blinded. “Beaten and bruised. Let’s see if you’ve got much life in you left.”

It was not like him to be cruel but he needed her to be still for a moment. As the ropes held her, several others twisted around her neck and spine, coiling around her body like a dozen snakes. Each moment their grip tightened. Thanks to his boosted MAGI, he was able to hold her at bay. For a moment he floated there watching her twist and try to wiggle free. He frowned as two daggers of light appeared in his right hand. One was his Soul Judge the other his basic light ability morphed into a dagger. He threw both at once and watched as they landed in her face. For a moment she was silent but then a shriek echoed throughout the whole island. As she faded away a small chat window appeared before him. [break][break] YOU HAVE SLAIN THE [ISLE HOMER'S BANSHEE] [break][break] He let out a sigh as he floated back to the ground. His abilities slipped into their cooldown stats. He had used quite a bit of power to kill that thing but he was still okay. Victory did not last long for Nikolas. From the mists, pale blue lights appeared. “What now?” he muttered under his breath. The two dagger quickly flickered to life in his right hand. Before he could react, a blast of two blue balls of fire were right on top of him. Nikolas took the damage right to his face causing him to fall to the ground. Thankfully, he had high heath and had not suffered much from the banshee, this did cause a bit of an issue though. He flipped his Soul Judge dagger and stabbed himself in the leg. The healing light restored what little damage was done. Just as he was standing back up another volley appeared. This time, he was ready.

Activating his shoes, Nikolas dashed to the side narrowly avoiding the blast. The two pale lights in the mist mist have been the culprits. He tossed his light dagger to the nearest one while in his other hand a flame roared to life. It cooked around Nikolas’ wrist and extended outward, becoming a whip of flames. He lashed the whip around at the ghostly specters. Fight fire with fire”! the whip slammed into the wisps. Nikolas waited for their response. One had taken decent damage. The other was still roaring with its undead life. Maybe it’s time to try a new trick.” Nikolas had to wait though, it would take a second before he could pump out that kinda power again. It would be best to widely one away and then the other.

As he kept moving his arm, lashing out at the two ethereal flames, his hand summoned two more daggers of light. He threw them both at the injured Wisp and watched the blue flames fade into the mist. One down, one to go. The Wisp let out a blast of fire and met with Nikolas’ shield of light. The cool blue flames subsided and as they did, a golden blade of light sliced right through the creature. While it was not dead, it was about to be completely overwhelmed. Nikolas was starting to run out of steam, he needed to make sure that whatever he did next would end this sucker’s life and find himself some shelter. “Okay, let’s see if you can handle this.” His shoes of light pushed him forward through the mist, bringing the fight directly toward the Wisp. The whip of fire, now solely focused on the single Wisp, was relentless in its assault.

As the Wisp launched its second ball of fire, Nikolas was able to activate his new skill. The ability started to rip away and fade as Nikolas boosted his own [MAGI] to beat that of the incoming enemy. As the fire was ripped away into Nikolas’ own palm, a small glass orb appeared. Within the orb was that fire itself. Nikolas smirked as the orb floated in his free hand. “Weren’t expecting that, huh?” He said as the orb when right to the Wisp and exploded dealing B-rank damage to the monster, Nikolas already using his shoe’s last bit of power had repositioned himself several meters away. The fire from his wrist fading away as he waited for the smoke and mist to clear to show what was left.

As the mist faded, Nikolas stood now on the ground. The cold mist had started to turn to steam. He was sweating and becoming increasingly exhausted. While he had high stamina for long engagements, he wasn’t planning on constantly firing off everything he had. He didn’t know how much more of this he had in him. If he could get rid of this Wisp, he could use ‘mangaka camouflage’ again and slip away to find somewhere to rest, if only for a moment. “Come on, be dead.” He knew it was wishful thinking. He had not got a status screen alerting him to his successful elimination of the beast.

Two daggers of light flickered once more to live in his palm. The smoke and mist had started to subside and a pale blue light was once again seen. It was waning in its brightness, a sign that the Wisp was close to dying. A volley of two blasts of fire once again raced towards Nikolas, only to be slammed once again into his shield of light. He instantly returned fire, throwing both daggers of light at the creature. As they landed, the screen he was waiting for arrived. “Thank god” he said collapsing to the ground and letting how a sigh of relief. He didn’t know how many more volleys he had in him. One thing was clear, he needed to get his stats up. If it wasn’t for his items, Nikolas would have been screwed. His MAGI stat in particular seemed to be lacking. It would be in his best interests for these next few levels to be devoted solely to that stat. After a moment had passed, Nikolas opened up his inventory to see what the monsters dropped, if anything.
