Ygdra’s trip to his house had been less than eventful, if not for that last mysterious incident that had him on all the cardio he was willing to do for the rest of his life. Granted, the incident had failed to deter him from ever coming back and he would have to prepare to confront whatever had decided to take residence on his own territory. Sadly, Ygdra’s level left him grossly underleveled and his class had him unqualified for the task.[break][break]
But it was not extermination nor subjugation that would be the task, but rather, capturing, considering that it was now his home and his house, the monster’s nest was his nest. The question now would be the howdunnit. [break][break]
London hadn’t changed much over the last years, and even in his absence, a drab cloud that always threatened to downpour refused to let go and let even a small dash of sunlight from making the citizens a little less gloomy.
The part of London he’d be perusing was an older part of the city that had survived much of the transgressions that occurred during the end of the world. It was a long street that was riddled with stores along each side of the road, and from antiques and services, they had adapted to what the new system had to offer, and what had been considered folklore and myth, could now be found in a store that sold nicknacks. Ygdra could tell the sun was setting down as the coldness that normally haunted London became colder and colder. He pulled his hakama closer to his skin and rubbed his shoulders to lend them some warmth. There weren’t many souls on the street at this hour since people had learned that it did not go well after sunset. Anywhere outside the safe zones at this hour was riskier than anyone was willing to risk. His sandals echoed with each step. The street lamps began to wake at this hour, and their glow only seemed to offer a fake sense of relief. The signs of each store lent their own multicolored visual to the bleak streets of London and Ygdra took his own time to briefly window shop before moving on to the next store. [break][break]
After getting a hold of what the system had recognized as material for the Forge, perhaps there could be something useful within these stores that could help him tame the mysterious creature within his home. [break][break]
The first store that caught his fancy was a store called The Riddler’s and had a green store with a question mark printed on the door. Despite the glass windows, he couldn’t see anything inside. [break][break]
“How curious…” Ygdra commented as he turned the knob of the door and went inside. “Curious indeed!”

The spiral staircase down the rabbit hole had led him to a rather narrow corridor. As he inspected the entrance, he now remembered he had designed it in such a way that only one person (obviously his built) could comfortably make their way in or out, and thus forcing an entire group to make a single file. If you had to ask why Yggdra designed the entrance in such an uncomfortable way, he would just smile and shrug his shoulders. The truth of the matter was that the things he did there, all of the experiments, the testing and everything in between was meant to be unnerving, horrifying or traumatizing, though Yggdra had never felt that way but still wanted to know how it would feel to the normal folk. But alas, anyone who wasn’t him that came through here never saw the light of day again and after many years since his absence, Ygdra wasn’t sure he’d see the light himself after this trip down memory lane. [break][break]
Like the House and everything in it, it seemed that his laboratory was also left untouched by time. The equipment required for testing, the computers that housed the data were all intact but quite useless without any electricity running through them. Ygdra ran a finger through the metallic skin of his computers and let out a heavy sigh. “I might have to abandon you all, except for…?”
With the cone shaped light of the flashlight, Ygdra began to search for the one thing he came for. It wasn’t something as ostentatious as the test subjects that were now rotting or heavy as the computers that no longer worked. He made his way through a second wave of dead machines, bookshelves, and test tubes. It would take him a while before he stood in front of a relatively large safe. [break][break]
“There you are, old friend…” He caressed the door of the safe, with his cheek close to the metallic skin. “Now, for your insides!”
Ygdra put the numbers in as if he had placed them yesterday. The door of the safe seemed to tremble, like a purring cat when you caressed it the right way. “~Biologia Phantastica. Considering the world’s fucked up and monsters are up and about… It’s time to make this phase of my dream come true.” [break][break]
The book was one of his earlier works, something that his thirteen year old had cooked up during his fairy tale phase. He had this dream of making biologically similar creatures to the ones he had heard in folktale, some of which included tiny people withings, or half human half aquatic creatures. He even dared to include zombies, give them scientific names and ecology. It was a biological dictionary of creatures that he knew would never exist, but with the help of Earth-chan and its interference with the natural order of things, there was a small glimmer of hope. This would be the Necronomicon of the new world. [break][break]
A small noise broke through his train of thoughts, followed by the sound of moving water. Ygdra rolled his eyes at the thought of being chased by some unknown creature, now that he had found what he came for, but as reckless as he might be, was not an imbecile. Before he decided to follow through on his suicidal impulses, Ygdra made a swift getaway, exiting through the narrow exit and up the winding stairs. He’d never done so much cardio in his entire life and by the time he had slammed the door shut to his room, he heard the sloshing sounds retreat further and further away from the door. [break][break]
He’d have to come back when he was stronger, and show whatever it was who was the boss.

Ygdra opened the door to the best years of his life with much anticipation. [break][break]
He expected to be greeted by some monstrous anomaly that had somehow made its way into his room and found his laboratory, mutated and evolved with the system, then attacked him, ending his life in some gruesome manner. But alas, he had to be so lucky and unbelievably boring that his room, just like everything else, to be in tip top shape. His attempt to shed light into the situation, as well as the room, but it seemed that darkness wanted to remain his constant companion, so Ygdra simply turned on the flashlight and continued forth down memory lane. Ygdra’s childhood room had not changed at all since he had left for university. He kept it relatively simple and clean, just like his dorm room but unlike his university days, he had lined the entire room with books after books after books. All about genetic modification down to mythology, folklore and fairy tales. He often liked to cross between fiction and reality, and alternating between the two gave him such a rush of emotions, but he mostly related to the villains within the story, and the foil they had with the main characters. Perhaps that is what he needed in his life, someone to be the foil to what most would consider villainous plans. [break][break]
He passed through shelves of books, running his flashlight across his prized collection until he found the hardcover version of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and took it out of its place. The wiring noise of cogs and wheels scratching each other told him that, for some things, electricity actually worked. Ygdra turned the flashlight to where the sounds were the loudest and found a whole opening up, leading to his underground, yet secret laboratory. [break][break]
“How nostalgic!” Ygdra clapped his hands in glee. “~Down the rabbit hole we go!”

His room was set apart from the rest of the family not just because of privacy, but because it was more convenient to separate himself from them. If they weren’t useful as experimental subjects, Ygdra would rather not associate with them at all. Connections were only needed as far as results went and their benefit towards his goals. He did not need anything more than that to live the way he wanted to, without the rules of the world.[break][break]
The trek on the side of the house was as eerie as the inside of the house. But as long as there was no imminent danger Ygdra was fine with eerie and the unknown. He had closed his flashlight since the light of the moon showed him the path, and his eyes had learned to adjust to the darkness. After what seemed like an eternity, he finally reached the south most part of the house and at the very end of a winding maze, was his small personal space. [break][break]
“How fascinating…” The entrance to the maze seemed untouched by time. It had been made from tall bushes tailored to be shaped like walls, and while they had not lost shape or density, thorny vines had taken to hug every nook and corner of the place. “I wonder if these are the same species as roses…” He whispered as he attempted to touch the vines, but pricked himself. “Hmm…” He sucked on the blood of his finger to stop the bleeding. Doesn’t seem to be endemic to this area or England for that matter… [break][break]
Whilst he would have liked to stay and study this new phenomenon, it was best to leave it alone for now. No use in becoming a pin cushion before actually getting what he needed. He navigated the maze of thorns as if he had been there yesterday all the while making sure not to touch the vines. Ygra soon noticed the humidity increase and fog started to creep in closer and closer, scattering the light of the moon until he finally reached the doorstep of his own room.[break][break]
“The thorns seem to avoid the room huh…” Ygdra glanced around and saw a great divide between the wedge of the maze and the walls of his room. “How curious…”

The trip to the basement was a quick one since he expected some sort of trouble along the way, and the house was eerily quiet. If anything had taken residence in his house during the family’s absence, his entry and cacophony would have drawn them towards his location. But no matter where he shone the flashlight, there was no presence of sentient lifeforms. Or at the very least, they hadn’t made themselves known to him, the intruder. [break][break]
So he had walked ever so casually past the foyer and down the stairs to the first level and he opened the door to the room where the switch for the main generator was located. The door opened with a loud creak before he had slammed it against the wall. The darkness seemed to creep in closer and closer, allowing him only to see what was within the cone shaped light of the flashlight.[break][break]
“Nothing to see but darkness…” He announced, shifting his head left and right hoping to finally see something come at him. But when nothing did, he sighed. “Nothing at all, huh…?”
He slouched towards the switch, opened the casing and turned the level up with a little more effort than necessary. He expected to be greeted by blinding lights but that also was a disappointment. “That was rather anticlimactic. Guess no one paid the electricity bill.” [break][break]
Ygdra gave up on the switch after a few attempts and exited the room. Just then, he flashed the light towards the winding stairs that led below to the further levels of the basement but it seemed as if the darkness consumed the light, preventing Ygdra from seeing anything further than a few more meters. It was so very tempting to just jump below but he had a goal in mind. “Let’s leave suicidal impulses for when we can afford them…” [break][break]
He went back outside and round the mansion, for his room was at the furthest end of the grounds, where had built his labyrinth enclose room.

The House of Elder was not in ruins, but it bore the marks of a ruined family. [break][break]
A house, by any accounts of a normal person, should be filled with laughter, warm hugs and a fire in the hearth. It should smell of home cooked meals, of detergent laundry and noises filled with idle chatter and children screaming. Sounds of a house that made it alive. Yet, while the walls were dusty, full of cobwebs, the house was perfectly intact. Ygdra could see the reflection of the windows from the outside as he trudged up the winding path to the house, but he could not see what it looked like within.[break][break]
He tried to see whether cupping his face to block out the reflection might work but alas, it did not. It was simply too pitch black inside. Ygdra clicked his tongue. “Now this won’t do.”[break][break]
Ygdra turned the knob and opened the door to his house. The door creaked open, a wrecking sound amplified by the lack of natural noise. It was dead quiet inside as if sucked in by the darkness. He placed a hand on his face, as if to filter the dust but really, the smell was a little too pungent for him. He had had his fair share of corpses; the blood stains, the weight of lifelessness and the foul stench of death. This was far more intense…[break][break]
He took one step forward, leaving the door open for the natural light of the moon to illuminate his first step. Ygdra could see clearer now and he was standing right in front of the foyer. The intricate designs on the ceiling of a giant tree sprouting different types of fruit represented the family tree, but also the source of their family income. He ran a finger to trace the thick layer of dust that had settled across the table that held the family picture. It was a rather large, ornate wooden frame with their entire family all lined up.[break][break]
“I wonder just how many of you are still alive…” Ygdra settled his hand on his parents. He was at the forefront of the picture, with his cousins at the very back because his mother was the eldest of the family. If things had gone their way, he was to be the next Head, in spite of his poor born status, as they claimed. It hadn’t been until he graduated with the highest honors that their tune changed from rags to riches. “How many of you shouldn’t live…?”[break][break]
Ygdra let the picture frame drop with a thundering dud and clapped his hands off the dust. “Figures…” He scoffed as he approached the light switch and found the electricity to be turned off. “I’ll have to find the main switch for the generator…”

Seeing the interaction from Seika to Mr. Beast touched a little nerve that irked him just a tad bit. Not because they had known each other already or that Mr. Beast was talking to someone of the opposite species. It did interest him that he felt this way after witnessing their exchange since he had almost never felt this way about anything, and certainly not someone else. His feeling for Mr. Beast were akin to a doctor and his experimental pet rabbit. His muscles were just bonus meat! But he let his thoughts rant some more before he was pulled back to the conversation and to a more logical approach.
Mr. Beast made a notion of having more flying creatures than anything on the Hollow Hills and he did make note of that, though he did hope that mayhaps they’d encounter something rare, something not seen before, and make themselves infamous to the farm. After all, as long as it had meat or laid eggs, it would surely count towards the goal. Only Ygdra would think of dinosaurs as poultry and they were related after all. But perhaps anything of avian nature wasn’t so bad and the heat was indeed bearing down on him. So he let the matter rest and simply joined in on the fun.
After all, his companions would be doing much of the work. “I vote that we do anything as long as it takes us away from the heat! Hopefully a silver lining lends us some respite.”
With that said, Mr. Beast handed him his own taming collar so that he could fully focus on the fight if it did ever break out. Ygdra wanted to ask if Seika had her own collar with her and it was best that he hold on to it, but would cross the bridge when they got there. He was glad they both could be so reliable and more importantly, Seika made him more and more curious about herself and the sword she had with her. “Thank you, Seika-san! Rest assured, I shall strive to be the same, though with that sword I doubt you’d be any dead weight, if any weight at all.” He gave the wolf a kind smile, though his face would still be hidden as he said the words. [break][break]
It seemed obvious that Mr. Beast’s knowledge outweighed his own regarding the ecology of the beasts they were hunting down and would make it a point to observe him in this mission though it was likely that out of the group, he had the most knowledge and Seika had also hinted at being low leveled, if not the same as Ygdra. The hulking man led them across to another hill and into a ravine that was much more obscured from the sunlight. The fog beneath the cliffs made it seem like they were at high altitudes where the bottom seemed to be almost pitch white. It didn’t look like any beast would be rising there; at the very least not any monstrosity that three of them could take on without much casualty. Ygdra now understood what made them so hollow. This fog was somewhat unnatural but felt the coldness that pulled the clouds to make them so heavy. He felt the chills in his body. [break][break]
But maybe it was better this way for a fire of excitement had been lit within him. Seika was right about needing someone to scout ahead and in this thick fog, but he very much doubted that Mr. Beast would agree to any of them coming forth to any danger. But they would still need someone to draw out the little (or big) critters from anywhere within the ravine. [break][break]
“Well, if we are to find or draw any creature from this nature forsaken place, we’ll need to be loud and fast.” He glanced at Seika and her wolf from behind the fan, eyes lit with a little dubious but passionate light. “ Mr. Beast, you might find it in poor taste for me to say so but neither you nor I can run very fast and my frail, poor body cannot move well.” He feigned cracking his back for some effect, if not comedic. “ I suggest the nimble and lightweight Seika-san ride the wolf, who would seem at home running around these parts and taunt a creature. But first we would need to find a dead end where we would have the upper hand.”[break][break]
He paused and gave Mr. Beast some lovey dovey eyes. “You and I can stay out of sight and jump at the beast to try and restrain it while I put on the collar. I suspect you two might need to weaken it a little. But please feel free to object or violently react. We might have to do this three times for the mission to succeed.” [break][break]
He pointed at all three of them one by one with the fan. "One. For. Each. Person."

“Right.” Ygdra nodded at the passerby.
“No, thank you and please enjoy the rest of your day. Apologies for the disturbance.” He gave the stranger a smile as they slowly, painfully faded into the stillness of twilight. The day was very near its end and so was his patience. The doctor was well known for recalling minute details from very long ago but it seemed that things had changed quite a bit even before his long absence.[break][break]
Things did not change very often in the countryside of the UK. His family was very wealthy and renowned for their ancestry as the house that stood on their land was quite old and the House of Elder was as sturdy as tradition itself. According to the recounts of his father, there had been much ado when he proposed to his mother and the entire family had opposed the idea of having a foreigner as the Head of the Elder House. Foolish as he was, he gave up everything, even his Japanese residency to stay with the family, although it had little to no effect considering his job required him to travel all around the globe, leaving his wife to take care of the family affairs. Not that it bothered him at all. Ygdra found solace in the books that he sent.[break][break]
But he wasn’t just traveling back to his birthplace to reminisce about old times or recover some books his father had given him. Soon after he had graduated, Ygdra has spent some of his well-earned funds into infrastructure from his home and some very valuable equipment was hidden beneath his family’s private ground. Obviously no one in his family was any of the wiser to his activities. His private lab was beneath a beautiful labyrinth he had constructed as a sort of prank to his family and he had situated his room right in the middle of this stone passage. His relatives may have been somewhat intelligent but none of them were half as interested in his activities as they were with keeping the family name alive. This was also the very reason why he bore his mother’s family name rather than his father’s Japanese name. [break][break]
Ygdra sighed once more. The last vestiges of sunlight had already gone and soon enough, Ygdra had found himself in his element. But it would take him a while before he could finally find the road that led to his destination. He could make out the details of the mansion where his tiny feet used to run across, where his countless nannies fed him and bathed him.[break][break]
The House of Elder was truly a mansion forgotten in time. It was a very old house, bearing features such as teep, multi-faceted Mansard roof, whereas the walls had wooden planks and rather ornate decorations that made the house quite elegant but rather impractical. The house itself was three stories large and had a number of rooms that were unused, two towers on the east and west wings, as well as a large foyer to welcome any guest.[break][break]
The good news was that none of the lights had been lit up for years. Although none of the rumors he had heard aligned with each other, the common factor between all of them was that something had happened to the Elder family. Apart from the equipment, this was also something he needed to uncover, if only to satisfy his curiosity. Was it here that his parents also met their demise? It seemed so because the grounds seemed like they had been unattended for centuries. Weeds had grown out of control, sprouting from the ground like the claws of a wild beast. In fact, nature had seemingly overrun the entire mansion, with vines hugging the house as if claiming it for itself. But other than dust and cobwebs, the house hadn’t been destroyed and was completely intact.
Ygdra hopped to a brisk walk and opened the gates with an ear-screeching sound, rust grating against rust. [break][break]

The United Kingdom’s countryside always brought back memories, haunting, daunting him to this day. They swirled around him like restless wisps of pale colored flames, each one with a pained but soundless scream of an expression. How fond he was of these memories and were the most dear and near to his heart. The screams, the chill, the trembling and above all else, the stench of death. While he longed for the days of yore, the changes that had occurred were not bad at all. [break][break]
It was a pity that the weather did not share his sentiments today. The dry ground beneath him cracked with each step, and though the sun was barely set on the horizon, dying the blue sky a beautiful scarlet orange, the warmth of its light lingered beneath the chill that was usual of the United Kingdom. While the usual weather brought overcast shadows of silver clouds to threaten anyone with a downpour, his trip back home had been cursed with clear skies and the full brunt of the midday sun. He had had to stop by underneath the shade of several trees, prolonging his passage back to his hometown. Strangely enough, it was a rather quiet promenade with nary a person in sight for the most part. [break][break]
“Not enough of a respite from the heat, but the sun could not set any faster…” Ygdra sighed as he took on step after step, with a small gust of wind playing with his temperature. “I don’t remember it taking this long to reach the house…” [break][break]
But of course he didn’t. It had been years since he had been home and considering that his parents were almost never there, he had made his ‘home’ elsewhere. In fact, home was a term normal people used but no Ygdra. The only place he felt home were the deep recesses of his mind. So why visit now of all things? [break][break]
It hadn’t occurred to Ygdra how things would change after the Light and it was more of a yearning to satisfy his curiosity, rather than piety or filial duty. He could care less how his parents were doing, whether they were alive or dead, or if they had received classes like him as well. But that was a lie. Curiosity was a driving force in his every move but also the bane of his existence. He wanted to experience as many stimuli as possible, but he understood that for him, some experiences were more irritating than others, and vice versa. Certainly, if his parents were alive, he would find it irritating but he did not want them dead either. Perhaps he simply wanted a release from having to act like he cared…? [break][break]
He stretched the back of his neck, attempting to alleviate some built up pressure. “This is quite the unsettling feeling, that’s what it is…” [break][break]

He wasn’t sure what to make of Mr.Beast’s smile and while he thought it was the best rendition of a child’s caricature, Ygdra made it a point that Mr.Beast’s best assets were his personality and his hulking muscles. Those were enough to consider him at the top of his list to one day perform experiments. Just the thought of his body squirming in unholy ways made him smile longingly. [break][break]
“Tis a pity it did not last long, but undoubtedly your performance carried the whole session, Mr.Beast!” He replied quickly seeing Mr. Beast move in closer. The pats on his back weren’t forceful, but neither were they gentle. Just enough for his whole body to feel it. [break][break]

As they exited the room, Mr. Beast casually reminded him that not all monsters were bad and it gave Ygdra an odd feeling in his chest. He did not recall calling monsters bad in a sense, considering that if he knew the truth, the middle aged naturalist would be on the receiving end of all the weapons in the world. It might have been a hobby at the beginning but the sprout grew into an obsession, and fully matured into a magnificent elder tree. That is after all, the reference to his family name. The first one to arrive brought Ygdra to a smile despite the heat. Mr Beast’s physique ripped through his attire, which made him smile even more, considering their task at hand today. But more importantly, he had brought Ragline and a new pet he had never seen before. The serpent was obscured by Mr. Beast’s shadow but Ygdra could peek enough of its size to intrigue him enough. “It’s good to have you, Mr. Beast!” Ygdra got up from his seat to hug Mr. Beast and get a taste of those muscles before the other person arrived but alas he was a second too late. [break][break]
Ygdra’s eyes widened, somewhat obscured by his fedora hat and his expression hidden by his open fan. Despite her unnatural hair color and the fact she was mounted on a rather large wolf, there was something familiar about this woman. Something that reminded him of his mother…[break][break]
“Greetings, my dear.” Ygdra slightly bowed towards her but did not remove his fan. “Considering your question matches that of my friend here, I assume you’re here for the quest I sent out a few days ago. You must be Seika.” He’d done a fair bit of research on those who accepted the quest, not that Mr. Hunky Beastie needed it, but curiosity got the best of him regarding the only member of the team. “ My name is Ygdra Elder, but please call me Yggy and this wonder of a man, is Mr. Beast.” [break][break]
It just came to his attention that both of his companions had pets and he had none. It irked him a bit, more so out of jealousy but in due time, he would also get an awesome looking wolf, not that it fit his aesthetics. He wasn’t too crazy about dogs either considering what he had done to his own dogs back in his youth. But regardless, they were complete now and so the show could go on.[break][break]
“With introductions out of the way, as per the mission, we’re here for otherworldly livestock!” Ygdra folded his fan and raised it to a non-existent chalkboard. “I presume you each received a collar?” He put his fan away and showed him his own collar as a means of verification. “According to my research, we should be able to find a plethora of beasts similar to chickens, sheep, and cows in here. As to what ungodly form they are in, we don't know... yet. But since we have three collars, we should either diversify our targets! More importantly, before we do that…”[break][break]
Ygdra sighed. “ Mr. Beast may already know this but I must warn you Ms. Seika, I have almost no offensive abilities…” Ygdra sighed heavier. “ Well, I do have one but it has a cooldown so I can’t use it often.” He regarded each of them carefully. “ So I must ask the both of you to coordinate on bringing down the beasts. I’ll try to participate as much as I can, though I’ll probably be limited to putting the collars on the beasts and safeguarding them.”[break][break]
He let the words sink into them before they could proceed with the hunting. Learning your teammate’s abilities was a necessary strategy, as important as learning your enemies and even your own.[break][break]

[attr=class,bulk] Life without a steady flow of income is hard, but for Ygdra, life was only starting to become difficult, in a way.[break][break] Before the Light descended on earth, he never had any troubles with money or having to make a living even though he was paid to watch nature by other scientists, record their behavior, assess anomalies or patterns and bring back findings. The pay was good and any new scientific discoveries included his name and royalties to further said research. Nowadays, however, the name of the game had changed and Ygdra was back to square one. Quite figuratively. [break][break] He took one last step before his body couldn’t take the hike anymore. Today’s mission was a rather arduous task and one that he couldn’t complete alone. Since he didn’t have much in the way of offensive or utility skills, he had contacted a few others to help with the ordeal, especially since it included monster taming. The mission statement hadn’t specified where exactly they needed to find such creatures so after much research, Ygdra had decided that the Hollow Hills would be the best place to find what they were looking for. [break][break] The sun was high with near a cloud in sight, which was the perfect temperature for most farming-related animals to begin grazing. Now, Earth-chan might have turned things upside down and over-side ways, but Ygdra was positive that the base roots of monsters (specially the ones they were looking for) were based on the normal, run-of-the-mill animals. He had sent a message to those who had accepted his call to arms to meet up on top of this hillside as base, since it overlooked a clearing with somewhat tall grass, which would be perfect to spot some over-sized pig or chicken. They could rendez-vous here until they could come up with a plan.[break][break] He sat on a nearby rock and opened a holographic message to review the details of the mission:[break][break] Farmers all around the world have been displaced and their livestock have either went missing or died due to the cataclysmic changes that unfolded. Farmers have been wanting livestock that’s a bit…sturdier than ordinary creatures but they lack the strength to procure the monsters themselves; so, with the aid of the system, they’ve started handing out missions to players! Players need to find, defeat, and tame a monster that’s reminiscent of old earthen livestock such as finding giant chickens to lay eggs, boar monsters, or even cattle esque creatures cowgirls? Once a player accepts this mission they are given one monster tamer collar that when equipped onto a defeated monster they immediately become docile towards all human players and they must immediately escort this monster back towards the farmer's residence. Failing to escort the monster back towards the farmer in a reasonable timeframe or utilizing the monsters for the player's own purposes (i.e using the monster to fight in battle) results in an immediate failure of this mission. Ygdra rummaged through his satchel until he found a the monster tamer collar he had received from the farmers he had contacted for the mission. To ensure that the delivery went without a hitch he had position someone to pick it up close, but there was still a little in ways to distance since the farmers were very wary of getting attacked by monster if they came too close for comfort. Ygdra sighed, but he understood. Ygdra gave Mr. Beast the biggest smile he could muster, though there was a little tinge of disappointment in his chest. If he had known things would end so abruptly if he truly tried, he might have feigned stupidity and allowed Mr. Beast to “train” him some more. But alas he did come here to get stronger, if only a little. [break][break]
“Thank you, Mr. Beast! I did know I could do that either but I guess you being there helped a lot.” Ygdra’s expression changed from happy to thoughtful. “ I actually haven’t put any upgrades to my statistics, per se… after all I’m only level 1.” [break][break]
He watched Mr.Beast as a holographic screen suddenly pop up and notify them both of the amount of stats that they would each gain. “Oooh! How bountiful! 10 points to Magic is rather generous forEarth-chan! That’s a very useful sub-class you have there Mr. Beast…” [break][break]
Soon after, they were graced by the sudden change in the room from the specialized gym towards magic to the previous room they had been in before the training started and Ygdra clapped at having to experience it again. It was rather enjoyable for him. But more importantly, as soon as they were back, a welcoming party had been waiting for Mr. Beast. It seems Ragline wasn’t the only pet that Mr. Beast had at his disposal. He greeted them with the same boisterous voice and Ygdra wondered where got all of that energy from, and if possible, could he share some with him. [break][break]
“Oh, please, Mr.Beast, it was nothing impressive. I simply applied scientific phenomena to this new system, which frankly, did all the work.” He tried to laugh like Mr. Beast but his lungs gave in and he choked. “ But, ehem. I couldn’t have done it without you!”[break][break]

It was hard to pay attention towards anything else the moment those bulging biceps made contact with skin. He could feel his body melt and drip into his chest as he leaned back a little to, slightly but not obviously, rest his head between his chest. Now that he was in a much comfortable position, Ygdra closed his eyes and felt Mr.Beast’s words vibrate through his skin. [break][break]
There was some truth to his words, Ygdra agreed. He wasn’t just pure muscle and clearly understood the subject at hand. “Mental work, you say…?” [break][break]
That wasn’t the only thing Ygdra agreed on and it was true that there was no shame in taking things slow. Real slow. He would make sure to consume this man's body and soul, and by that, he meant his teachings. [break][break]
The hands of Mr. Beast was big and squarish but the way he guided and rested his hands on Ygdra’s were gentle but firm. He guided Ygdra’s delicate hands through the motion and he felt a little recoil the moment the spell activated. It was truly the oddest sensation he had ever experienced, and this was a man who had held the beating heart of a patient on the palm of his hand and felt each beat slow down, slower and slower, to a standstill. Ygdra snapped from his train of thoughts the moment Mr. Beast started laughing, and he broke into a very pleasant, relaxed smile. As if his pecs were the most comfortable pillows in the world. His intrusive thoughts went to bite, but Ygdra knew better. [break][break]
“I see, I see, I think I understand now." He nodded to himself pensively. “You’re very good at what you do Mr. Beast!” If imagination and instinct was all it took, then there were so many ways that Ygdra could tackle this situation. The goal was simply to defeat each golem and he had two elements. Since Magic was all about effect, he could perhaps derive the solution from a scientific point of view. [break][break]
Ygdra wanted to stay in his arms a bit longer but also felt they needed to move on with the next step. He fell into deep concentration, trying to imagine what lightning would feel like if it could freeze things. It would be fast, since electricity moved through the air faster than when conducted since there was very little resistance. Shaping ice into solid matter would take some time and the application of condensation would be rather small. So he would apply the freezing point of ice into a discharge of electrical waves, simultaneously applying both effects. [break][break]
Although names didn’t matter, he did have a rather suitable, yet dramatic name for his cooked up spell. [break][break]
“Coiling Frost Ion”[break][break]
He crossed both staffs and upon crossing paths, tendrils of thick, blue lighting, coalescing to point shot forth to target the straw dummy. The blue lightning began to move like a snake, ziggaging erratically at a rather fast pace and struck the dummy, freezing it in an instant and it shattered with a flash of electricity. But the spell wasn’t over yet. [break][break]
Ygdra wanted to take them all in one fell swoop to show Mr. Beast that he wasn’t a complete imbecile. The spell began homing in towards the stick dummy and it began zigzagging around it, hitting it multiple times, like a boa constricting its target, until it also shattered with a flash of sparks. The brick golem would be tricky but Ygdra wasn’t about to let up just yet.[break][break]
“Just a little more…!” [break][break]
The spell now began to coil around the brick golem and while the spell took more time to flash freeze the golem, the spell finally took effect after a few minutes and it shattered with a flash of blue sparks like the rest of them. Ygdra relaxed his hold on the staves. [break][break]

Ygdra would never get over the sensation of how things could so easily… change with just the snap of a finger. He marveled at the way the scenery changed from the rugged gym style room they were in to a more simplistic version, custom-made to tailor his need to increase his capacity in Magic. He soon realized his target had a rather nonsense attitude when Mr. Beast began to explain how the stat worked and moved quickly towards the staves that had magically appeared. [break][break]
But while Ygdra had graduated with Masters and endured years of studying and learning medicine, he still had difficulty in learning things that were not aligned with his interest. Magic was pretty fun and all, he had some difficulty swallowing everything that Mr Beast threw at him as if he had a background in video games. So for now, whilst taking in his hulking figure, he tried to pay attention as hard as he could, without letting his mind wander off to fantasies and daydreams. [break][break]
He vehemently nodded and moved in quickly to mimic Mr. Beast’s actions. [break][break]
The stave that had so called “fire magic” was very simple in design, as were the other staves with their own respective properties. He mentioned that while Power was the main primary offensive force, Magic was the ability to apply certain effects. Hopefully, he understood that correctly. Effect stat was such a vague term to use but he would ask questions later, since Mr. Beast looked cute whilst he was on a roll explaining things. [break][break]
When Mr.Beast shot the dummy made out of straw, he applauded in awe as it burst in small flames and respawned, as if nothing happened. [break][break]
“How very insightful!”[break][break]
Yet as he said that, Ygdra wondered how on Earth-chan did he shoot fire from the stave? No, he was not distracted by his muscles but he did not catch any indication of any reaction, action or exchange in any type of energy between the user and the staff. Was it through the power of imagination or did Mr. Beast simply thought of a fire in the shape of a ball and… shot it? [break][break]
He squinted his eyes again hoping to see with much clarity when he shot the dummy made of sticks, which according to his claim, was a little stronger than the straw dummy. From squinting, his eyes widened as the fireball collided with the material but no explosive force occurred. It seemed to splash against the dummy, coating it in a garment of red flames. After a moment, it went up in flames and respawned.[break][break]
Ygdra sighed. Was there a correlation to the material made to the effectiveness of the Burn side effect? [break][break]
His mind started to race. There was no use in knowing how effective these… effects were without knowing their… effects on live subjects. Would a living creature burst into flames just like the stick golem? How long would they suffer before their demise? [break][break]
Before he could sink deeper into the abyss of his thoughts, several searing shots of fire lit up his eyes but a little to his disappointment, the dummy made of bricks was left fully intact. “Oh, how very curious. Not even scorch marks…”[break][break]
Mr. Beast moved on from the fire stave to the other two elements, Ice and Lighting respectively. He was a little bothered by the term lightning as an element since it was a form of electricity, Electric being the base form of the element. But it seemed Earth-chan was just weird like that. Ygdra took a deep breath and released, as if to prepare himself mentally. [break][break]
“So Ice freezes, low damage. Elec- I mean, Lightning has no side effects but has the strongest damage out. Duly noted, Mr. Beast.” [break][break]
He stretched his shoulders and arms before putting down the stave of fire, and picked up the Ice stave on his right and Lightning on his left. The handles were cool to the touch and weighed a fair amount. It was a good weight to hold. “Uh, Mr. Beast. Which golem should I attack? All three of them?”[break][break]
After a pause, he also gave the musclebound trainer a goofy smile. “Also, how exactly does one make an element shoot out of these things? Do I just will it, is there an incantation or something…?
Then he shamelessly extended his middle aged butt and said jokingly. "Do you mind showing me how?”[break][break]
Ygdra really wanted Mr. Beast to come behind him, wrap his arms around him, hold his hands and do all sorts of things. But mainly, he would be satisfied with knowing how to activate them.
