So, that was where she had seen her prior. Certainly not before the calamity that turned the world into this mess. No. It was during the time when Hana had people visit the guild. Back when the guild was still stationed within the two-story apartment building.

The guild was a bit more quiet now than before. With Hana gone, and other members seemingly vanishing, ANTHEM was a shell of what it once was. But then again, perhaps it was only because of the fact that their headquarters was now in this sprawling mansion. The halls were long and silent. Silent without the multitudes of members that ANTHEM once had.

"Well, you are welcome here nonetheless." She acquiesced, placing the teapot facing her guest and inviting her to pour her own cup. Hikari watched her for a moment, wondering. "Then you must be family. The Uesugi clan were once a multitude. A distant cousin, perhaps?" That would make sense. At some point, their families must have been related. Perhaps not close, not of the main branch. "And therefore you are welcome here in the Uesugi Clan Estate."

Leaning back, she nodded at the woman's state and asked, "You seem to be in a...pinch. Were you here for sanctuary?" The estate was a Safe Zone. The area around was also safe, for the most part. "Or were you here for something else?" If this woman had been here prior, perhaps they were thinking of joining the guild. Which, truly, would be a boon.

"Be sure that you are welcome to rest here for as long as you don't overstay your welcome." Hikari smiled, soft but with an edge. She would rather not deal with those who might take advantage. But who was she to turn away those in need?

Hikari smiled as she tended to the wound of a child. This little girl seemed to have scraped her knee while running. Her father was out there sweeping through the rubble, and her mother was on her way back from being tended to by a healer.

"It's okay. You take care of yourself, okay?" Hikari patted the girl on her head before sending her off to her worried mother. The guild leader of ANTHEM was not someone who had skills to heal people, but she was good enough with bandages. She had to learn, after all. In a world like this, survival skills are a must.

Clearing the mission, she now turned towards the beach and the ruckus that the creatures caused. A foul stench hung in the air still, and she couldn't help but recoil from it. "Now nobody's going to come here..."

With a small sigh, she stood up from her makeshift work area and looked towards the horizon. This was their world now. Full of danger and destruction. There was no going back at all, and Hikari knew that there was little she can do about it. But of their situation, she had some things that she can do.

"Neo-Tokyo first. A base. A city. A safe one for those willing to work together." What she didn't say was: an example of hope.

She turned her attention to the small group that had gathered in front of her. With a smile, she ran forward.

It had been a long time since she had fought hand-to-hand. In fact, she couldn't even remember the last time she held her sword. Usually, having them cause chaos was enough. Because of how her [SPD] stat worked, it made everything she did fast. Too fast. Enemies often don't have time to respond.

But this time, it was different. She wanted to thrill from the fight. Smirking, she dashed through a group of three skunks, lacerating them so much that the System despawned them quickly. It was almost too brutal. "It seems like everything is winding down." Hikari clicked her tongue before turning her attention back towards the area where everyone was congregating. Most of everyone got out alive, it seems.

"And, of course, now they're mounting an attack." Hikari sighed, "Too late, in my opinion." She charged forward, ahead of whatever offense the rest of the people were mounting at this end of the hour. She was unimpressed, and she knew that there was little she could do. The world, while changed, was still the same for the most part.

"One last run through, then we'll leave the rest for these...people." Hikari smiled towards Kairi and Kuro, before slashing her way through the enemies. The skunks were annoying to say the least, but they were formidable against those who were not on-par with their levels. Hikari, however, was reckless. And she had every right to be at this point. The last time she was properly challenged had been within the dungeon. And that turned out well enough for herself and Dee Dee.

Dodging an attack, Hikari slapped the appendage of the skunk and drove her sword through its head.

The effort to kill these monsters was not much, but it was the sheer amount that got on her nerves. She took all of her focus to just keep herself cool and calm. Anger boiled within as she lamented the lost day of relaxation. If this was what the System thought was fun, then they were sorely mistaken.

She dashed forward, her Ancient Pristine Sword in her hand as she hacked another creature. The sword cut through the monster like a hot knife through butter. Hikari relished it, the destruction of something so sinister. She quickly turned facing the rest of the monsters close-by.

By now, the monsters were waning. Hikari found herself staring as the rest of the people on the beach started pushing the horde back. She smiled, before rushing forward once more. The two summons had fallen back to her side as she looked towards making the final push.

"One last one then, hey?" Hikari smiled at her two summons before her five swords spun in one synchronized fashion. The swords cut through the monsters that tried to get close as Hikari turned her sights towards where the largest concentration of monsters were. With a flick of her hand, the five swords traveled towards five different targets, all of which were too slow to react to her [SPD] as they were pierced through.

"Quick, get out of here." Hikari gestured towards a crowd as they panic-ran towards the shoreline.

She was carving a path forward for the families that were still stuck at the beach. Men, women, and children were all stumbling each other. Hikari knew that the rest of the crowd were also doing their best in keeping the creatures at bay. But there were too many skunks, and not enough people who were ready to fight. This was not Hikari's own fight. No, there were people here who had people they wanted to defend. It was a collective effort.

Shotsuren, Daitsuren, Kenmyoren, Murakumo, and Habakiri. Five swords floated around her as she ran forward. The swords cut down anything in her way, hacking and slashing those who came too close, while keeping enemies far away as a threat. The glint of her swords created rays of light that blinded the skunks, which worked well as those around him were able to subdue the weaker ones because of it. It was carnage, and Hikari knew they can only hold out for so long.

"To the shades, quick!" It seems that there had beena response from other people, and many had gathered by the shade in order to mount a defense. And eventually an offense. Hikari, however, did not have time to wait. Or, more so, she didn't want to wait.

As she watched the rest of the group she had been escorting reach the safe area, Hikari turned and ran into the fray.

Hikari swept past everything and everyone. The sand burst through as though a bullet had gone through it, skimming the surface and creating a path forward. She didn't have time to yell out for people to get out of the way. They wouldn't be fast enough anyway. She twisted herself to intercept the skunk, and found herself face to face with it. She grinned.

Her sword was already in its abdomen by the time it knew what was happening. Hikari released her grip and punched it in the face, before kicking its body away while pulling her sword up. It tore through the creature. Blood splattered all over her, as she was once again assaulted by the odious odour.

"Horrid creatures..." Turning her attention to the two children cowering behind her, she smiled. "You're safe now. Run along to your parents." She shooed them away. A quick thank you from them later, they ran towards their parents, who looked to have been trying to find their children in this chaos.

She stood up and looked towards the tree line. There were more pouring out. Kairi and Kuro were at their wit's end as they did their best, but even they were pushed back now. The end was not in sight, and Hikari was becoming more and more frustrated. Her eye twitched as she found herself watching the onslaught.

The skunks were certainly interesting.

The smell that they produced was noxious, and those around her almost ran away just because of the smell. Truthfully, Hikari herself had almost taken her leave. She couldn't hold her breath long enough. But she wouldn't be where she was if she ran away from her problems.

"Those who can fight, get in front. Those who cannot, keep the children out of harm's way." Hikari watched as people scrambled to and for. There were those who had heeded her words. Many didn't. And so Hikari watched those who ran around like headless chickens be picked off by the straggling skunks. Hikari could pay them no mind. They had dug their own graves, as far as she was concerned about the matter. There was a more important task at hand.

Kuro was snapping its jaws as Kairi supported her fellow summon from the air. Kairi made sure to blast those who came too close to Kuro's blind side, which worked as they held off a few skunks. It was, however, Hikari's swords that dealt most of the damage. Passing through in waves, the lines of skunks were ran through with her swords.

She side-stepped a skunk, crinkling her nose at the stench. "Vile beast." Her sword materialized in her hand, summoned from her inventory, and slashed down onto the back of the skunk. A small squeek, and a shrill cry, it died. Hikari paid it no mind. No, there was something else she set her sights on. With a blink, she was running across the sand.

This was supposed to be her day off.

The sounds turned out to be something worse. Something she had not predicted, but she certainly was not surprised much at all. A square box illuminated her vision as she was invited to join and complete a quest. One where, apparently, things were attacking which were very noxious. Well, Hikari was the right person for this task. She never needed to get too close to her enemies, after all.

"Good thing I can do this." Hikari waved her hand as three swords flew forward and impaled themselves into three skunk-looking creatures. They screamed out loud, causing people to realize what was happening. Hikari waved her hand once more, and let her swords float beside her, creating a small vortex of swords.

With a snap of her fingers, Kuro and Kairi appeared in front of her. She held her hand forward as her two dragons raised their heads to be petted. Her two dragons looked towards their summoner before Hikari nodded in ascent. With that, the two dragons surged forward, Kairi into the air and Kuro on the ground.

"This will be...fun." Hikari smiled to herself, before surging forward towards the crowd. "Not one will get past this line." She made a line on the sand in front of her, before setting her eyes back towards the oncoming onslaught. She was ready.

Speaking of, Hikari opened her interface to see if Dee Dee had been seen recently. The Guild Leader of Utopia had been missing for the past few weeks. Hikari herself was not able to find any traces of the woman. That, in and of itself, was quite odd. Often enough, Hikari knew that sightings of Dee Dee creep up as many long for the burgers she makes and sells. But recently, there has been a hush.

Hikari sighed, leaning back into her chair as she reminisced the old days before she became the guild leader. Responsibilities were now an every day occurrence. Whereas before, she could roam and be unshackled, she now had a responsibility to the guild. Well, it was either that or a slow decimation of the guild itself. Hikari felt someone arriving. Well, it was more than just arriving. Rather, this person appeared out of nowhere. The level one Hikari would not have been able to detect this person. That Hikari had been clueless. That Hikari-now was more vigilant, more concerned for her surroundings. She had been through fire and back. [break][break]
"I would love to see the boss, truly." Hikari smiled a small smile, turning her attention to the newcomer. "It's nice to meet you, Noelle. Hikari." She introduced herself, before snapping her fingers as her swords flew around, impaling as many of the elementals as it could while Hikari surveyed from her vantage point. [break][break]
She nodded towards the water. "They're taking people to the water. Probably drowning them for their...god." That word left a distasteful silt in her mouth. There was no god here, she knew. No, this was a monster. One that she was itching to fight. [break][break]
"Do you think it's too much if we let some people...go...perhaps it would hasten the awakening of this Elder Godbro..." She mused out loud, before smirking. "Though perhaps that's not something the System would like for us to do. I'd rather not be on its bad side." [break][break]
Hikari watched as her swords swept past her once more. Daitsuren was out now, four swords flying through the beach in a whirwind of fury and grace. Hikari only watched as she wrecked carnage through an already chaotic scene. Perhaps everything she had gone through had affected her. This was not something a sane person would enjoy, right?

Hikari lounged in the sun, doing her best to enjoy the few moments of respite she had in her now oh-so-busy life. She had not thought that she would take the mantle of guild leadership from Hana. And yet she did. So now she was responsible for a whopping two other people. Though that would change soon enough, she knew. [break][break]
But then again, she really shouldn't expect to relax in a place like this. This was a place where monsters spawned. A place where the event was supposed to happen. And, as expected, it happened. [break][break]
The screams and shouts were her signal. Hikari stood up from her position, leaving behind her cozy chair in favour of fighting. The latter was always welcome. With a flick of her hand, Murakumo, Shotsuren, and Habakiri flew to pierce through three separate Elementals. They were unprepared for it, and therefore took the hits without much fuss. But that action earned her the ire of the rest. Hikari only smiled in return. [break][break]
"A mission to kill these elementals? How thrilling..." She sighed, cracking his neck as she slowly walked forward. Her swords flew around her, ready to attack and defend when needed. Hikari sipped her tea as she lounged below the sakura tree her grandmother had planted. It was a tall, and seemingly always in bloom. The pink flowers twirled in the air as they gently landed into the small lake in front of her property. The building behind her was reflected within it, a pale comparison of its true luxury.

This was the life that Hikari had led. A life of tea parties, of relaxing afternoons, and of days which seemed to never end. But this was an exception nowadays. Far from her previous life, Hikari was now a woman of action. A reflection of who she truly wanted to be.

She placed her tea cup down, and poured herself some more of her Genmaicha. Once a peasant's tea, now it was one of the most prized of the Japanese blends around the world. Hikari enjoyed the simple blend. One that was neither too strong, nor too invasive. She was just about to take another sip of her tea when a knock resounded, and then a request.

Visitors were not expected, but they were always welcome. Perhaps this was one of her informants. She had recently heard of a gang infesting her city for some ungodly reason. A recruit, perhaps? Only one way to find out.

With a wave of her hand, one of her swords hooked itself onto the gate's handle and opened the door for her visitor.

"Do come in." Hikari greeted her guest, watching still from the distance. Her voice carried through the silent grounds. Her table could seat four, and she motioned for the woman to come closer and join her. "I feel like I've seen you before..." Hikari would continue, eyes watching the woman with interest.

Since taking over, Hikari has shifted the main base of operations to her clan's estate in order to have a more solid foothold over Neo-Tokyo. The main task is still to transform the High Risk zone of Neo-Tokyo into a Safe Zone. The previous guild headquarters: an abandoned apartment building on the outskirts of Neo-Tokyo. The compact living space can support more than a dozen occupants at the moment, as the building gained extra floors when the Guild upgraded to Stage Three. Thankfully the structure and furnishings were repaired and utilities fully reconnected when it was chosen as their base, so life here is fairly comfortable. Although this Guild Branch only maintains a small Safe Zone, it can still be used as an alternative point of entry to the city in their attemps to retake control of Tokyo.

Safe Zone: A means to begin, this guild upgrade is a small Safe Zone the size of five city blocks in circumference, centered on the ANTHEM Guild building. The first 10 threads specified as being within this zone in Neo-Tokyo can not be invaded unless the players request it directly. Five of these threads, if they are socials, can be graded as up to D-Rank Missions.[break][break]
With each guild stage upgrade the area of effect for this upgrade vastly expands. [break][break]
Concert Hall: A massive structure summoned inside the newly expanded Safe Zone. Unlike what the name would you bring you to believe this is not a place for music but rather battle practice. While using the monthly Safe Zone threads you can create [Concerts] that are ANTHEM ONLY threads where a simulated monster will be summoned against your party while fitting boss music blares over any other noise that could be made or heard. Dance, fight, and win, gaining Synergies between the active members.[break][break]
Warning though: These simulations can kill players, but only in 'simulation'. A player that dies this way is actually just frozen at 1 hp until the end of the thread. If players die in thread the synergy will be created with -1 Luck for each “death”.[break][break]

Kairi curled into Hikari's frame as she used Habakiri to parry the sword that was aimed at her summon. Murakumo, Shotsuren, and now the unsheathed Daitsuren all encircled her. And with a blink, she was gone. [break][break] [Shadowless Step][break][break] The travel was almost instantaneous. Hikari disappeared and reaappeared behind the enemy, close enough so that all three of her sword immediately stabbed in its direction. Hikari had no remorse for doing this so efficiently, or brutally. She was sure that this enemy had something up their sleeve, anyway. [break][break] With the enemy getting into a very close range, however, she was sure that they would now start feeling [Delirium] take hold. But she was not one to simply put all of her eggs in one basket. [break][break] [Mikazuki][break][break] Kenmyoren, her last sword, unsheathed from behind her and slashed forward, following up her attack. It was a barrage of swords, of light, and of Hikari's arsenal. Well, some of it at least. [break][break] Combat Summary:[break] - Hikari is parrying the attack on Kairi with Habakiri, while the other sword aimed at her would miss because of her passive.
- Hikari would have Kairi curl up on her, and use [Shadowless Step] to reappear behind the enemy.
