Hana SakuyukiWaiting in front of the astral portal, Enigma sent a personal message to Hana to get her on board with the mission at hand. Since they kept working together and were used to working together, Enigma thought that venturing even more into the astral plane would be best to get to the bottom of certain mysteries it harbors. He needed someone to have his back, and he felt like Hana was the one who could carry her weight and provide some backup as well.

Enigma was looking through a few forums on his cell phone as he waited for Hana to show up. Or at the very least, he was hoping that Hana would show up to take on this challenge with him. Though they were just at a race together, hopefully, she still had some guts to take part in the investigation. mission

After only a few minutes, the sound of splashing water was briefly heard before fading away just as quickly. Hana emerged into the clearing just a few moments later, already armored up and ready for battle. "You really are comfortable here, huh?" She pointed a finger towards Enigma and his phone. "Checking the adventurer forums for new recruits?"

She did a circle around the portal, once again intrigued by how it always seemed to point towards her. They'd familiarized themselves with the area around and inside this particular portal during their last visit, but all of this astral stuff was still fairly new to her. "I guess you're planning to explore here a lot more, after getting your Guild set up to focus on stuff like this, right?"

Standing ready nearby, she pressed for a little more information. "So, this mission just wants us to find a spirit, then solve some more puzzles to, uh, exorcise them or something? Put them to rest?" Hana just hoped the puzzles weren't any harder than last time, or as annoying as the challenges during that race.

Hana SakuyukiWhen Hana arrived, Enigma was more surprised a the fact that in such little time, she had become so powerful. He couldn't believe it, after blinking his eyes he was overtaken in such a short period. This proved that Hana was very strong, probably one of the more powerful high-rankers that he met now that she surpassed him. "Would you look at that, you're even stronger than me now. How does it feel to be the number one ranker?"Tommy said this as he gave a few claps and looked at the astral portal. "I guess you can say that I'm comfortable. Every time I go through these portals, I think that everything from before was a bad dream and the actual reality of our lives was misplaced somewhere else. Finding it was our responsibility, but at least we had a chance, right? But at the same time, I know better. "Closing his phone, Enigma shrugs.
"I'm supposed to be throwing a party soon in New York, a recruiting event. I'm sure you did something like that too, throwing a concert of your greatest hits and livestreaming it. "
He didn't know what the challenge would be this time, but he was sure he could handle it.
"Whatever it is, it won't be enough to stop us. "

Hana waved off the compliment, likely blushing inside her helmet. "Oh, uh, it's not a big deal! I've just been saving up, and after doing all that Forging, it seemed like a good time to cash in! And I'm sure there's stronger people out there we're just, like, not aware of. They might be grinding out levels in the wilderness or something, and we just never run into them."

She wasn't sure what to say about his philosophy. But the rest was more interesting to her. "Oh, another party? I'll join in again if you want!" Hana shook her head at the second part. "We've got a few musicians and some good fighters, but nobody with any real ability to help us spread our message like that. Soon, I hope! Maybe after we explore Tokyo properly."

As he got ready, Hana clenched her fists and posed resolutely as well. "Yeah! Alright, I'm first through this time!" Taking a breath, she hopped through the portal...which felt more normal this time. It must be that new skill they'd both gotten after their first trip here. Things looked the same on the other side. Reversed, twisted, alien. But familiar.

Hana Sakuyuki Hana's enthusiasm was contagious, her words carrying a mix of humility and excitement. Enigma's lips curled under the enigmatic mask, hinting at a concealed smile. His eyes, barely visible behind the mask, seemed to glint with amusement at her remark about stronger individuals. "Mysterious powers hidden in the shadows, huh? A classic tale waiting to unfold. The wilderness has a way of nurturing potential beyond the spotlight." His voice, tinged with an air of mystery, accompanied his words. He knew the secrets of the untamed, where strength flourished far from the watchful eyes of the masses. Her willingness to join the party intrigued him, and he responded in a manner that seemed to echo through layers of intrigue, " Parties are a peculiar phenomenon. A chance to bond, to forge alliances amidst the chaos. We shall weave the tapestry of our journey together, one thread at a time."
And then her mention of spreading a message sparked a spark of fascination in Enigma. "Ah, the allure of words that echo like whispers through the corridors of time. To touch hearts and minds, to plant seeds of change. Remember, Tokyo is but a canvas. Your melody may yet harmonize with its rhythm. Uniting all of those people with your music, who woulda thought?" Entering the portal, Tommy would look around and wait for the quest to update.
Quest update: Find the wandering spirit but beware, malevolent spirits representing the unresolved emotions will pursue you even more fiercely the closer you get.

Keeping people separated to surprise them later sounded like something Earth-chan would do. How could they be sure what was going on in all the closed off places of the world anyway? Something else he said spurred on similar thoughts from Hana as well. "Working together is the best thing we can do in this situation, I think. It'd be nice if only the people who wanted to do missions and stuff had to do them, and everyone else could live a relatively normal life."

No time for parties or relaxing now, though. "Tokyo's the first step. For me, at least." Her helmeted head tilted back slightly as she looked up at him, once he was through the portal. "I guess New York's first for you? Then maybe this place here." Hana gestured around, at the portal and this side of it in general.

She shivered, even inside her armor and with her new skill this side of the portal felt slightly uncomfortable. "Where should we start looking? We never found that settlement, last time. Enigma's gloved hand signaled Hana to halt, his voice a soft murmur carrying a hint of guidance. "Saw that?"Coming out of the floor, a wraith started to appear and fly towards them with violent intentions. With the use of his butterfly magic, Enigma generated a wave of butterflies to crash into the wraith and the few others in the distance. "This way, the direction of their pursuit is the right way. Fight and run! The more that shows up, the closer we are. It should stop once we reach the lost spirit. "

Nodding, Hana followed him out of the clearing, through the backwards trail they'd taken before. At the flicker of moment, her signature hammer appeared in her hands, as she looked back and forth warily. "Uh, I saw...something. Maybe."

She took a step back as the ghastly thing lifted straight up out of the ground. She knew to expect ghosts and such, but it was still a strange thing to actually see! Enigma blasted it immediately, though, so Hana hurried after him as he began to move. "That sounds about right. Whatever they're protecting must be something the mission wants us to see!"

Dashing forward, she smashed the first few out of their way with one swing from her hammer. Seeing more in their path as they continued, she freed up one hand to select something new from her inventory. A fan made of feathers, which she unfolded and waved in front of her...a tornado suddenly whirling to life, moving swiftly in front of them to clear the path of more spirits. Even if it didn't entirely dissipate them, they were at least out of their way for a moment!

With them continuing with the occasional attacks that were becoming more and more frequent, it was starting to be clear that the additional resistance meant that they were going the right way. "When is this going to end?!" Enigma said this in frustration as he sent another wave of whimsical energy to cut through about thirty feet of foes that were starting to surround them. However, once he did that, there was a blue wisp in the distance that Enigma started to run for.
"That might be the lost soul, I'll hold them off. Reach the blue wisp to activate the second part of the mission. Just take off and don't look back."Enigma used his power again to fire off two waves of energy to clear out a good chunk of the enemies, or at the very least, knock them away so that they couldn't immediately retalliate. Either way, he wanted to give Hana a chance to reach the wisp.

Hana noticed Enigma had altered direction slightly, turning to match as she smashed a few more ghosts in her path with that hammer, using the spinning motion to give her a bit of extra momentum to catch up. "Alright, be careful!" Pulling on her scarf with one free hand, it seemed to grow larger as it was unwound, obscuring her entire form...before she seemed to vanish completely.

After a moment, the same sound of rushing water that had signaled her arrival could be heard. But much, much louder this time. Hana reappeared, scarf back in place, standing atop her recently upgraded surf board as a massive wave of water burst into existence under it! Lifting her up and carrying her forward rapidly, the wave reshaping into a shark's maw as it chomped through the ghosts in her path.

After bursting through the pack, she turned sharply, water following her. Hesitating for only a moment before reaching out to grasp at the spirit, trying to gain control of it and clear this step of their mission.

After Hana reached the wisp, everything calmed down with the evil spirits vanishing in thin air. With Hana securing the spirit, the quest updated and rifts appeared from all around them as the quest updated.
Quest Update: Elemental realms representing the spirit's past experiences. Each realm is dominated by a different astral element (fire, water, air, earth) and poses challenges associated with that element. The elements are manifestations of the spirit's emotions.
"If the elements itself could represent the emotions of that being, don't let it's size fool you. It's a powerful spirit, something that I never seen before. "
With that, the rift engulfed the two and the spirit and brought them to the Realm of Emberflame. It was landscape of volcanic activity and raging firestorms. The air was thick with smoky haze, and molten rivers flow through the terrain. There was only one objective, and it was to make it to the next rift. "Let's go, watch out for the lava and the creatures here."

The blue wisp dissipated along with the other, more aggressive spirits. Although now there was an insubstantial blue haze trailing behind Hana. "I, uh, guess that's good, right?" She looked at the latest popup that updated their mission status, trying to turn her board aside as jagged, less controlled portals opened all around them. The musician didn't have time to avoid the rift that swallowed them both and spit them out into a new area.

"Uh, is this still the astral plane or whatever? It seems a little more...fiery." Hana just shook her head as she double-checked their instructions. Enigma didn't seem very surprised by all of this, but he did hang around with spirits of some sort. "Alright, well, water beats fire. So hop on." She reached out to pull Enigma up onto her board, much as he'd welcomed her onto the giant butterfly last time.

Taking off, trailing a blue mist as the remnants of the absorbed spirit clung to her, Hana maneuvered her board as best she could. The main problem was all the steam it was creating, as the unending flow of water that pushed it along interacted with the warm ground and air. Not to mention the times she had to pass right over flowing lava!

Observing the board, Enigma couldn't help but comment, "If I recall, isn't that the item you crafted before, when you were foraging? Quite the impressive surfboard." Despite his casual words, a faint blush of embarrassment tinged his cheeks. Holding onto Hana, they initiated their acceleration. With the lava's fiery splashes threatening their journey, Enigma quickly conjured a whimsical shield resembling a protective bubble. The shield deflected the dangerous droplets, ensuring their safety as they sped forward. Focused on maintaining the shield, Enigma reassured Hana, " I'll shield us as best I can, you just concentrate on maneuvering the board."
As they continued, the lava's heat bore down on them, making Enigma keenly aware of the limitations of his arcane black suit. However, time passed relatively quickly, and soon the group approached the astral portal. Just as they reached this checkpoint, a mission update appeared, guiding them to the next stage – the Realm of Zephyr Heights. Here, they were advised to utilize aerial pathways and the power of wind to reach their destination. Turning his attention to Hana, Enigma gave her a nod of encouragement. The dynamics of their journey were evolving, and it was now up to her to navigate the winds of the next realm. He expressed his reliance with a simple admission, "Since I'm quite unfamiliar with surfing, the success of this leg lies entirely with you, Hana."

Thankfully he had defense handled, as she was distracted enough just maneuvering this thing. "Little hot here, huh?" At least she had the armor to keep her somewhat protected. Hana assumed his fancy suit was magical as well. As they pulled up to the next portal and their mission updated again, she hesitated. "Uh, I don't think this thing actually flies. We should've brought Dee Dee and her star! Maybe your butterfly can handle it?"

She continued up to the portal anyway, another jet of water pushing them through. "You think I knew how to surf before I got this? Uh..." As soon as they were through, the board began to fall out from underneath them, before wind pushed it up from underneath. The two of them were simply drifting through the air, as the water the board created sputtered and fell straight down, useless. "Yeah, we're gonna have to bail!"
