The area was much different than what Andy expected from a place called Motor City. It's not unreasonable to think they'd have different tracks set up to race on like in a video game. He didn't expect them to set up a replica of another town, however. It was a nice touch and he was excited to see what else they had in store.

Thankfully his efforts to get the attention of the pair were successful and they both seemed glad to see him. For now at least. Andy just smirked in return to Hana telling him to be careful. He wasn't expecting many problems going forward. Until the race started and he read the mission description. He should have known better than to expect a normal race.

Once his van began moving he could tell he was dragging behind the others. Andy thought himself fast, but when stacked up against a Guild Leader and others who had been loaded in longer he had a clear disadvantage. He'd need more levels soon to make up the difference. If what Jeanne-Marie said was true it shouldn't take long to catch up.

That was a problem for another time though as the voices hounding him didn't allow him to think about much besides the race. Andy quickly decided that blindly listening to the voices was a bad idea. He tried to ignore them the best he could and just focus on driving. Who knows what this system would try to lead him towards? At least this way it was his own decision.

He kept a close eye on the people in front of him to see where they went. There weren't any obvious clues that he could see, unfortunately. Andy ducked down the path with the least amount of people on it despite the voice's objections. Or at least the one that was still there. Not that it stayed for long. The road began shifting and closing behind him. “Only one way to go now.”

When Andy caught wind of a new area where he could test out the vehicle mechanics of the system he was ecstatic. He'd need some way to transport produce when things finally got up and running. What better way to see how things worked? Even if he didn't win he'd still get valuable experience and half of a Forge Key. Not that his competitive streak would allow him to just coast by.

Upon getting to the racing area he'd obtain his Start Button and start looking around at the available vehicles. It wasn't long before he found a few familiar faces. As well as one he hadn't seen before. While trying to get closer to say hello Andy heard that the girls were almost ready. Then, whoever they were speaking to was already driving away. He settled with whistling to try to get their attention and waving at them. “Good luck!”

After greeting the two of them he got back to searching. Eventually, he found a cargo van and decided it would have to do. He couldn't drive any of the larger vehicles without a license. That's something he'd have to do at some point. Just another thing to add to the list of Andy's plans.

It took some time for him to get used to driving a long van. At least using the Start Button was easy enough. When he finally felt confident enough in his abilities he drove up to the starting line. Once again Andy caught sight of the girls and the person they were talking to. “Tough competition.”

Andy wasn't sure what Hana was truly capable of since the rats they fought together didn't give a good measure of her strength. He at least knew Dee Dee was capable and good with vehicles so they'd be a tough pair to beat. Who was the person they were talking to though? He'd have to figure it out after the race.

Andy shivered as he trudged through the ice and snow with Dee Dee at his side. If the snow were much higher she'd likely be unable to move around. Hell as it was he was having a time of it making his way through the landscape even with snowshoes on. What does one expect from Everest though?

If not for everything that's happened he wouldn't have even considered going to Everest before, but here he was trying to hunt down... something. Andy wasn't even sure what he was hoping to find up here. Goats? Snow leopards? A yeti perhaps? Whatever it was he hoped they found it soon so they could get out of here.

Just as he was about to quit Andy heard a roar nearby. “Did you hear that?” After a few moments of listening for an avalanche he moved as quickly as he could toward the source of the noise. Upon reaching his destination he heard a familiar voice yelling from inside. “Damn. Sounds like Argent's in trouble. We better move fast.”

Andy made it to Argent quickly thankfully. He could see her just fine, but what was that thing she was fighting? It was hiding its form somehow and he couldn't make out its shape. If this thing made that roar it was likely some sort of animal. Which means that he could eat it once they kill it. First, he had to figure out what was happening. If he went in guns blazing he was likely to get filled with holes like the last time he partnered up with the assassin. “Argent what is going on?!”

Hikari's attempt to soothe him was surprising after his last experience with the woman. He'd thought she was simply cold and vicious, but maybe there was more to her than he thought. “Thank you Hikari. I think I'll take you up on that.” That wasn't the only surprise, however. Suddenly Hana started jumping around like a rabbit while holding that enormous hammer.

The plan worked well as his companions took down a rat of their own. Once again Hana did something out of the ordinary as the rat she squashed seemingly vanished and was replaced by bits of fur. Where had all the meat gone? Andy didn't have time to worry about that though as there were three more rats to deal with. Well, two since Hana got her hands on a second one.

After seeing their friends get quickly taken down in brutal ways the last two rats began to scurry away. Not that Andy would allow that to happen. It was time to show Hana that she wasn't the only one who could jump around like an anime character. His eyes glowed with a dark red light as a large skinning knife appeared in his other hand. He crouched down on the ground before springing up into the air toward his prey.

While he descended he scanned the rat's body for a red spot to aim for. The arc of his sword spelled out 'Floccinaucinihilipilification' as it swung down into the rat's back along with his skinning knife. It split the fleeing animal in two as Andy landed. “Two left now!”

Andy frowned in response to Mikael's smile. It was sad to see the new world hit the man so hard. “I'm glad we came out here. I think you need this vacation a lot more than I do. You can't constantly be on guard. You'll be stressed out all the time and that's not healthy to do.”

As Kael talked about future missions they seemed interested and somewhat excited. Andy somewhat regretted asking the man to join him. With how much they've been going through lately he didn't want to add more to their plate. Maybe a hunting trip would help boost their spirits. “We can make a rack of ribs at the end! Well, maybe more than one.”

“I've heard there is someone out there who sells animals as part of their Class. There are a lot of people who can grow or raise various things. It may be hard to find an area to start in, but I believe it's possible. There is a Guild opening that I think will be able to help me.” If anyone could do it it would be Jeanne-Marie. He felt bad that the bright smiling man was resorting to just being a mercenary. “I met a girl recently who wanted to find a printing press to spread her handmade books. I'm sure you'll find something that you'll want to do soon Kael.”

Kael's clapping startled Andy as he wasn't expecting such a loud sound so abruptly. He chuckled at himself as he placed his items around the area and began to set up. “I came out here for some business and decided to take a look around after we were done. I had a lot of things to think about, but didn't want to head back yet.” He dug around in his bugs until he found just what they needed. A water filter that he walked over to Kael before getting back to work. “It should be now. I got that for a few points from the system so it should work.”

Andy was shocked by the sudden item tossed at him by the girl. Luckily he was able to grab hold of it before it hit the ground, but he didn't have time to inspect it thoroughly before going through the portal. “I look forward to trying this out Jeanne-Marie!”

After going through the portal he was reminded somewhat of his home in the winter. Although this was much more intense than in his home town Andy couldn't help but feel nostalgic. He wished he brought a jacket though. “Let's do this quickly before somebody gets frostbite. I don't think any of us are healers.” He glanced over to Jeanne-Marie as if to ask her to confirm.

His party members seemed to be confused about how to proceed, but Andy had a plan. “I have an ability that can let me see weak points. I can carve out a portion of the ice, put the egg bombs in there, throw a couple to blow them up, and we'll have chunks of ice already in portable sizes! If not we can continue to make them smaller from there.” As he spoke he was already looking around the area to find the mark Jeanne-Marie mentioned. It seemed Mikael had already found something though and he followed the other man towards the ice shelf.

Andy smiled when Kael chuckled and was glad he brightened up even if just a bit. It seemed like they had been having a hard time since the two last met. They were stiffer. It concerned him and he hoped that this trip would help him somewhat. “New habits? What have you been up to Kael?”

“I've already found a few. There is one to get rid of some Rush Boar that are causing problems and another to gather some Volt Deer horns.” Andy continued forward through the last portion of their hike. “I have some plans to start raising animals for meat in my restaurant when I set it up, but I haven't yet. I went to a festival and set up a temporary food stall to serve the patrons. Hopefully, I'll be able to set up shop soon.”

Soon enough they arrived at a large clearing in the trees that he'd found earlier. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it was just large enough for the two of them plus an area to cook and eat. There was a small stream running through the forest nearby. “So what do you think?”
