Argent seemed far too relaxed about the prospect of running into bandits. There had to be some reason she wasn't taking this seriously and after taking a look at the party screen Andy found out why. She was level 15 and not only that, but he got a special party buff from teaming up with her. There was such a massive gap in their abilities no wonder she wasn't concerned. [break][break] “Lunar Assassin huh? Fancy name.” Andy took a moment to think about what type of meal he'd prepare for someone with such a Class. He smiled as inspiration hit him. “How about a nice rabbit with some dumplings as a side?” There was a myth that he enjoyed that said that a woman lived on the moon with her many rabbits. Maybe he'd add that dish to his menu in the future after working on it. [break][break] “I suppose it's a mix of both. I can make food that gives people buffs, but I can hold my own if I need to. I just came from running a stall at the local festival and I plan on opening my own restaurant soon enough. I've been a bit busy so I haven't had much time to increase my level like I've wanted to. Sounds like you're much more on the combat side of things. Glad to have you around.” [break][break] The peaceful conversation was interrupted by a woman's voice calling out. “Looks like they had reason to worry after all. So much for a leisurely stroll back home,” Andy groaned out as he materialized a meat mallet in his hand. “Think you can take the leader?” Not that he had any doubt she could. She was clearly far more capable than he was, for now at least. [break][break] It seems the bandits weren't very organized despite the ambush. Andy took the opportunity to launch the mallet in his hand at the closest bandit's head in an attempt to knock them off their mount. Maybe he could be a bit more reckless than before since he had a much stronger partner. He took off running after it and created a large skinning knife his hand. A red energy covered from his eyes and the edge of his blade allowing him to see where to aim on his enemy. When he got closer to the riders he lunged out at the one he'd thrown the mallet at in order to stab at a weak point on their chest. |

It wasn't long before Andy noticed someone who was very obviously not a trader approaching the carts. Looks like the other guard was here. As she approached he was still helping load the carts and was at just the right height to catch the dagger at her side. They came much more prepared than he did and that comforted him somewhat. [break][break] She seemed rather chipper too so the walk shouldn't be boring. ”Yeah I'm looking for some help. I hope we don't run into bandits. I'd much rather have a nice walk home. Not that I think it would be too difficult with you around. Seems like you're used to this sort of thing. My name's Andy, by the way.” After placing the last crate onto the cart he sent a party invite to Argent. ”If we're going to be working together we should probably share what we can do. I'm a Savage Chef. I can summon kitchen utensils to fight with. What about you?”[break][break] With the last crate loaded the leader of the traders called for everyone to do their final checks and prepare to leave. ”Looks like we're about to head out. Maybe if this goes well I'll treat you to dinner sometime.” The traders finished their checks and the horses began moving the caravan along the path towards their next destination. Andy really wished he had his own weapon right about now. |

Andy gave a slight chuckle at the name of the shop. ”Kitty's Novel Idea. What an adorable name. I can only hope I come up with something just as good when I get around to setting up shop.” He'd thought up quite a few names, but nothing had stuck so far. [break][break] Unfortunately, it seemed that Kitty was happy with her little automatic cafe. Did she have simpler goals than he? Regardless it seemed like he'd be able to get something out of this when she called for her business manager. Perhaps this trip would be more fruitful than he thought. ”Quite the contrary, Kitty. I believe that you and Miss Jeanne-Marie will be quite of use to me.” A smirk spread across his face as he imagined the possibilities before him. [break][break] Andy took a few steps back into the aisles and grabbed a random book off the shelf. He brought it back up to the counter and placed it in front of Kitty. ”I'll take this today if I could.” He handed over the required sixty points for the book before even looking at the cover. ”Thank you for your time. I imagine you'll be seeing me again soon enough, Miss Kitty with the Novel Ideas.” He bowed his head to her before moving away from the counter to allow the next customer to approach. [break][break] Andy had a feeling this meeting with Jeanne-Marie would make this whole trip worthwhile. |

Andy's bones shook as the screech erupted from the chicken. He managed to do some damage to its leg, but at what cost? He could feel his chest tightening as the energy coursing through him began to feel unstable. His eyes widened as the red glow emanating from them rapidly blinked and faded away. [break][break] Another popup. You have been afflicted with the Fear status condition. Fear? He was afraid of a damn chicken? Ridiculous. How dare this abomination make him feel fear of all things? He's killed and eaten animals plenty of times larger than this thing and yet he's afraid? Despite his rage, he couldn't help but feel his legs and hands shake. [break][break] The chicken attacked his partner once more and Andy...hesitated. Kael was in danger still and he hesitated to protect him. It wasn't until Andy heard him shouting about chicken thighs that he came back to his senses. A dull pain wracked his body, but Kael was taking much worse. Why was this thing so focused on him and almost ignoring Andy? It was odd, but his partner was much better suited to taking the brunt of the damage than he was. Maybe he should be a bit relieved. [break][break] Regardless, Andy had to do something to help him, but was going for the leg again really the right thing? That wouldn't kill it much faster. He'd have to start aiming for more vital areas, but he couldn't find the strength to activate his ability again. So, he struck out almost blindly without much thought. He lashed out with a quick stab to the chicken's thigh and blurted out something silly. ”And I'll cook them on your biceps!” |

Behold, the Master of Festivities![break][break] Andy had heard rumors of an upcoming festival in the States from some locals during his time in Unison Central and decided to investigate. After poking around on the community forum for a bit he found out that they were looking for people to set up booths, among other things, but those didn't matter to him. He started preparing immediately. It took some time, but Andy was able to find someone on the forums to help him set up and run the stall when he got there. [break][break] He made his way through the Waypoint, into the festival, and to his assigned stall where he was supposed to meet his helper. There Andy hung a banner at the top that said “Buffalo Beginnings” in red font over a black background with red horns as dots on the I's and the crosses on the F's. It wasn't much, but it was a start. Below was a banner with the menu and the prices. Buffalo burgers and caribou dogs served with fries, sweet potato fries, coleslaw, or chips. He hoped his assistant could at least handle that much. [break][break] With that done Andy put on his apron and began setting up the rest of the stall so all the ingredients were easy to find. He made his way through the many tasks required to get an outdoor booth up and running. Heating up the stove and fryers, putting the prepared ingredients into the fridge, and placing the items customers would need around the edge. ”I sure hope this goes well.” |

With the festivities over with and his pockets thoroughly lined it was time for Andy to head home. On their way back they decided to check out the supply lines they'd heard about from other vendors. Apparently, they were constantly hiring guards to protect themselves from bandits. If he could surround himself with strong people to make his trip back to Europa smoother and make some extra coin while he's at it then why not? Kill two birds with one stone. Besides, if he was going to use these trade routes to move his goods when he sets up shop he'd have to make sure they were well protected. [break][break] It didn't take long to find the caravan and the person running the show. They were already preparing to head out and directing people on where to load specific crates. Andy almost felt bad about disturbing them to volunteer his services. A brief conversation about the expected route was all it took for the system to give him the popup for the quest. [break][break] Mission Name: Supply Escort[break]
Mission Rank: E[break]
Mission Objective: Follow the caravan along the trade route and protect it from any bandits that may appear.[break][break] Andy accepted the quest and began to help the traders load up the crates onto their carts. Partially to kill time while he waited for the other guards to arrive and also so they could head out right off when they do. As he did so he took a moment to admire the horses that dragged the goods. They were beautiful, but workhorses rarely tasted good due to all the muscle. He hoped that his partner got here soon so he could get home and rest after the long day. |

Andy's curiosity got the better of him. Who would refuse the ability to travel the world through the use of Waypoints? It would make completing his Eat It List much easier despite its ever-growing length. While walking through Unison Central he happened to see a shop marker on his map. It would be worth killing some time there and maybe if he was lucky he could procure some interesting ingredients. [break][break] The little shop was cute, but upon further inspection, it probably didn't have anything Andy particularly needed at the moment. What use could he have for a book now of all times? Anything could happen though. Anyways, he made the trip here so he may as well see what all the fuss is about. [break][break] Upon entering the shop and seeing the way the shop expanded fascinated him. Andy simply had to know how this was possible and how the owner of this shop got it to show up on the map. He began moving through the rows of books towards the counter to find the owner of this establishment. While doing so he saw the other amenities the store provided. The potion cauldron could prove useful, but he instinctively grimaced at the cafe when it caught his eye. Maybe since it was created by the System it wouldn't be so bad, but he wasn't going to take that chance. [break][break] Finding the counter wasn't difficult, but putting up a professional facade while wearing a loose-fitting t-shirt and some jeans may prove to be. Maybe it would be better to ask for a meeting another day. Yes, he'd make plans for a day when he was better prepared. Now he just has to get them to agree. [break][break] Andy stood up straight as he approached the counter and ran his hands over his front to unwrinkle his shirt. ”Hello, would I happen to be talking to the owner of this establishment? I have quite a few questions about the building and I believe we may be able to help each other out.” He glanced over at the automatic cafe for a brief moment before returning his attention to the person behind the counter. He then reached into his pocket and produced a business card to hand to her. ”I'm a chef and I believe I could help you in the future if you're interested.” |

Just his luck that their conversation would be cut short by their enemy appearing from inside the chicken coop. Or that's where he assumed it came from. Unless it rammed straight through the coop to get to Kael, but would it really go that far? Regardless it destroyed the coop so it must be angry at the pair for whatever reason. Was the system causing it to go berserk? The damn thing was fast too, faster than he was at least. It was able to get to Kael before he could intercept it, but maybe it was a good thing that it went after him first. [break][break] But now was not the time to be thinking about such things. Now was the time to help Kael. Although he seemed to be doing rather OK on his own. ”I sure hope this works!” To that end Andy summoned a large skinning knife as he rushed towards the rooster. The knife was much larger than any other utensil he'd had to work with before and felt like a short sword in his hand. He could tell that this unruly blade was meant for more than just cooking. [break][break] Where would be the best place to strike? The head? No there was a rooster who lived for almost two years without its head. Who's to say this pumped-up demon wouldn't be able to do the same? As Andy thought about his next move he could feel energy coursing through his eyes and hand before it flowed out over his blade. His eyes and the edge of his knife glowed a bright red once he got closer to his future meal. He could now see red spots on the body of the rooster with one on the leg that caught his eye. [break][break] They must be the weak points his ability mentioned. His enemy was shorter than he'd expected and the angle to strike out at its leg like he wanted was somewhat awkward. Regardless, Andy swung his knife at the red point on the rooster's left leg in hopes of disabling it. If it couldn't walk then it couldn't fight back, right? ”Fall down and die! Go for the legs Kael! It can't fight back if it's on the ground!” |

Andy was glad that his partner had a sense of humor at least. It would have really sucked to make a bad impression right off. With their enemy having a name like Demonic Rooster there was a good chance the pair was going to have to put their lives in the hand of the other. Going into battle with unresolved tension likely wasn't a good idea. Not that he'd ever had to put his life on the line before. [break][break] “Kael? Like the stuff, people use to make crappy-tasting sludge smoothies? I prefer using it to make chips myself.” 'And I could eat you right up.' Admittedly his partner was a handsome man so maybe dying here wouldn't be too bad, if not for his long list of things he still needed to eat. Which now included a Demonic Rooster. [break][break] ”Yeah looks like we got a pretty thematic enemy huh? A chicken for the chef and a demon for the... savior? Looks like we got a good pair too. I can dish out some damage and you're a tank. Maybe this won't be so bad. How did you end up with a Class like Salvation's Vanguard anyways? You a missionary?”[break][break] Andy took another look around the area when Kael pointed over toward the chicken coop. There didn't seem to be too many choices around. The chicken coop would make sense, but when were things ever easy? ”It's worth checking for a clue at least. It seems kinda small though don't you think? When I hear Demonic Rooster I think of something that's as big as us, if not bigger. Not that I'm hoping for that. Maybe it's just a really angry normal rooster and we're blowing this out of proportion. At least it'll make for a nice meal. He likely got into another fight the previous night while drunk. That would explain the pain he felt as he slowly shifted himself onto his side so he could make his way off the muddy ground. Wait mud? When did it rain? [break][break] ”God damnit. I'm going to have to buy new clothes again,” Andy groaned to himself. Unfortunately, this wasn't an unusual occurrence for the man. His rather abrasive personality tended to cause people to throw a few swings when he drank too much. Although he usually ended up covered in alcohol or blood, not mud, and this was his first time blacking out. ”I guess I finally overdid it. About time, I guess.”[break][break] But the question of how he got here still remained and where exactly here even was. Andy grunted and groan as he finally lifted himself off of the ground. A quick glance around revealed countryside of all things and another man on the ground near him. It seemed he was still passed out for the moment and it was better to let him sleep. After all, he was probably the one that caused the soreness all over his body. If he got special powers then odds are they did too and he didn't want any part of that if he could help it. An upscale burger joint that his parents could just barely afford, but it was what he'd wanted ever since he'd heard about the exotic meats they served there. Once a thread if you kill a staff-made monster, you have the option of trying to harvest the most valuable ingredient from that monster. These items will gain the tag [Ingredient] and can only be used in your dishes. In order to do so, simply flip the coin in Discord and tag staff. Heads, you’ll get the ingredient, tails you will not. You get two chances per monster. Each chance will require a post of you harvesting. While harvesting, you cannot utilize any abilities, skills, or items outside of basic armor defense. The type of ingredient will be based on that monster. [break][break] Three times per month you can summon a Kitchen-based Forge. This will appear as a pair of swinging kitchen doors with a red knife emblem floating above. Upon entering, you'll be met with a sharp-looking chef. You will have to give him two items tagged with [Ingredient]. One of which will be for the entrée and the second for the side. He will cook the first meal up for you for free. Any additional meals cooked during that visit will cost 150 points per meal. If you try to use non [Ingredient] based items, the chef will kick you out of the kitchen. The meals you create often have powerful temporary effects and the rarest of meals could even have long-lasting changes. [break][break] Outside of collecting the rare ingredients, you'll also find that your class does allow for some combat. You're able to summon forth once per post a cooking tool, no larger than a meal mallet, that can be used to deal melee damage equal to your [PWR] stat or you can fire it off up to 10 meters away dealing your [PWR] -1 rank in damage. [break] Field Dressing: You summon forth a large butcher's skinning knife that you can use to deal melee damage equal to your [PWR] once per post. Andy Warbucks
Andy's family was fairly poor when he was growing up. Most things were bought on sale and the budget was tight, but he was fine with this. He was content with the few gifts he got each year on his birthday or Christmas and rarely begged. The community he lived in was good to them thankfully and the neighbors didn't look down on his family for their situation. Life could have been much worse for him as a child if something or another didn't go his way, but he was fairly lucky all things considered.

Buffalo Beginnings
One of the few times Andy's family splurged was the first time they brought him out for dinner on his birthday. What could be an everyday occurrence for others was a cause for celebration for this young child. He'd heard about the kinds of exotic meats that were served by a local burger joint and scanned the menu online for weeks to decide on what he wanted before they got there. A simple buffalo burger was what he ordered after all the buildup. The young boy devoured his burger within minutes and got multiple comments from people nearby, but he didn't let that discourage him. That one buffalo burger was enough to foster a new dream in Andy: to cook and eat every animal possible.

Culinary Current Events
It wasn't long before Andy's newfound love of cooking brought him to culinary school. He was called eccentric by his peers and didn't get along well with most of them. They would be pleasant to each other, but he didn't have anyone he could truly call a friend. It was a lonely road to get to his position as a line cook at a fairly popular fine dining restaurant. The reason Andy wanted the job was because of all the unusual meals they prepared each day. It was a true delight to find others of a similar mind.

Andy was nearly done with his bucket list of meats and he likely would have finished it before he became head chef if not for The Light That Crosses Worlds. Now his list has become even longer with the vast amount of unique species flooding the new world. Do they taste good?...
