[attr="class","alreescroll"] Mission Link[break][break] Alexei peered at the young woman in front of her. She looked to be more prepared than him if he were to be very honest with himself. Truth be told, he wasn't one to be familiar with plants, and he had been hoping that the NPC might point him in the right direction, and maybe even share an image of which plant he was supposed to be looking for. However, the woman in front of him had a book about herbs! [break][break] With a small smile, Alexei drew his hand out for a shake. "My name is Alexei." He started, before turning to the NPC and continuing his thought, "I supposed two hands work better than one, especially when gathering herbs." It would make it easier, Alexei assumed, especially since the woman might already have knowledge about the herbs they would be gathering. [break][break] "Why yes, you both can go out and get me some of the herbs I'm currently out of stock of. They can be found all across town, though might be difficult to spot. Here's an image of the various plants as reference."[break][break] Alexei took a mental note of the various herbs, though he mainly took in two to three that were more distinct than the others. He knew one of them, at least. Purple Coneflower, or Echinacea, was known to thrive in urban areas and was one of the herbs listed. The rest, he might have to consult with the woman who had the book. Alexei turned to the woman in question, and smiled, "Whenever you're ready."[break] |

[attr="class","alreescroll"] Mission Link[break][break] Alexei found himself in the middle of Europe. Specifically, in Switzerland. He had not been here since he had been a child, and so he truly remembered nothing of the place. As he looked around now, Alexei could easily assume that this was not a city where people often fought. The number of people roaming around, chatting, and milling through their day was way more than what he'd seen in London. He could, at the very least, take it easy here. [break][break] However, he had come here for a specific reason. Well, in this part of town at least. He had been told that there was a rather interesting mission in this corner of the city, one that was located and done within the confines of Unison Central. This made it an easier mission that required less of his fighting abilities, which was a relief. He wasn't really too happy about constantly having to fight for his life. [break][break] Alexei approached the NPC who harboured the quest. The man looked to be an herbalist, and was smiling at Alexei as he approached. [break][break] "Good morning. I'm guessing you're here to accept my quest? I'm hoping you're well-acquainted with plants?"[break][break] The NPC greeted him, and just before Alexei moved to accept the quest, he heard someone close-by and instinctively turned towards them. Alexei nodded as he read the message. He would do his best to help out the clean up as Dee Dee and her summons did most of the leg work. He really didn't want to mess anything up, and therefore did not get in their way. Instead, Alexei did his best to help carry items, or do general clean-up. He was, at least, knowledgeable at these because of his stint in the army's cafeteria.

When everything was done, Alexei would smile at Dee Dee. "Thank you again, for everything." He nodded, taking a step away from the woman towards the north. He was hoping he could find some form of shelter there. "I really do hope to see you around. I would say good luck, but I'm sure I need it more than you." Alexei chuckled, "in any case, good luck out there, and stay safe."

Alexei nodded to himself as he took the orders. Throughout it all, he found himself enjoying the meticulous process of taking orders, and sending the orders to Dee Dee. It was reminiscent of his first year in the military, where routine was enforced. It was, in and of itself, a calming task, despite the fact that there were a lot of customers, and some of them were not so happy with the wait.

As the crowd slowly dissipated, Alexei found himself sighing in relief. He turned towards Dee Dee as he read her message. Without pause, he nodded happily, "Of course. I would love to work with out once again. And if you find anything that you might think may be useful, I wouldn't mind trading for it. I don't have much now." He gestured to empty pockets, "but I will do my best to compensate you for things that you might find!"

Looking around, Alexei found himself feeling a bit drowsy. Tired, really. He turned to Dee Dee before bowing slightly. "I believe it's time for me to head off. I will need to find quarters to sleep for the night. However, if you don't mind, perhaps we can go on a mission together once again soon?" Alexei asked hopefully. There was more he could learn from Dee Dee, and she seems capable enough to show him how things are done here in this new world of theirs. It would be very beneficial if Dee Dee helped him out a bit more as he settles into this new world.

[attr="class","alreescroll"] [Tutorial][break][break] Th is wasn't the brightest idea. Truly, it wasn't bright at all. But Alexei's immediate reaction was to take the brunt, while Cyrus did his best to get all of the surveyors out. From what Alexei had gathered, Cyrus was a bit better with supporting, which is what the surveyors might need to get out of the cave alive. A hunrgy polar bear was not going to let its prey leave without a fight. A very nasty, horrid, fight. [break][break] "Come on." Alexei grunted as he had to lunge away from a swipe. This polar bear was no ordinary creature. It's larger than normal state, the sharper fangs and claws made it look more feral. This must be the System's doing. Just as he was about to rush back in, he felt himself feel stronger. That was when he noticed that Cyrus's skill was pouring to him. The man was skilled indeed, and this would give him the boost he would need. [break][break] An idea popped up, and he immediately accessed one of his skills. "Winter Soldier, arise." Without delay, a replica of a man in standard uniform holding a saber appeared beside him. He, or it, was made of ice. Alexei grinned, before ordering it to, "attack from the left", while he took the right. The pincer maneuver, supported by Cyrus' buff, would hopefully be enough to keep ther creature at bay as Cyrus helped the surveyors leave the cave. [break] |

Alexei made his way to Cyrus, and the rest of the group. As he did so, he found himself turning back towards the woman who had taken over Cyrus' burden with the slimes. It seems that the woman was very well-versed in dealing with them. And from the sounds of it, she was just like Cyrus, someone who uses music as their main source of skill. It seems Cyrus was not alone in their affinity for music.

"Cyrus, I'm glad to see you're safe and sound." He did mean it, truly. Cyrus was with him during his tutorial, and he was very grateful with Cyrus' skills. It would have made the tutorial much harder otherwise. "Our run-in with the polar bear made me think that monsters only come in ones, or even in pairs. Such a number would have been a bit harder for us to deal with." He was sure his skill would have done some damage, but even then, it would have still been a pain to deal with so many monsters at once. At least, at their current level that is.

Alexei stretched his hand forward for a shake towards the two ladies. "Alexei. It's nice to meet you." He nodded towards Hana, "and thank you for helping out my friend." Alexei himself would have stepped in, but he wasn't so sure if he would have won that battle, especially with the ease that Hana seemed to have done. "I had thought that cities and towns would be safe zones, but I'm proven wrong myself." This one, he admitted freely. Though he had been warned, Alexei thought that he was much safer here. Looking towards Natalya now, he swore he heard a Russian inflection to her words. It seems he had found a fellow Russian, the very first one. He wouldn't say anything yet however, it might be a breach of etiquette of some sort by doing so.

The status symbol was something he had noticed, but the mystery itself was solved when Cyrus explained it a bit further. It seems like they were as ready as they can ever be. The light from the outside seemed to illuminated the entrance and the immediate vicinity. As they took their first few steps in, however, Alexei noticed a waved red and orange light, as well as people shouting! His vision adjusting to less bright surroundings, he immediately realized that a group of five people were huddled at the very back of the cave, while three of them were waving torches that were barely alit against an enormous hulking polar bear. [break][break] Alexei knew there really was only one way to deal with this, and he was sure he was going to regret it. "Cyrus, I'm counting on you to get those surveyors out as quickly as you can. Use this cloaking skill you have with them." Alexei paused only to ready himself for his task. "I'm going to take the polar bear's attention while you do it. Do not look back." He didn't want the man to see him get mauled, which Alexei was sure would happen. "Go!" He motioned, before roaring at the polar bear, immediately catching the attention of the polar bear. Alexei slowly nodded at her pragmatism. The success of his idea would not be ideal at all, in fact, Alexei was sure that failure would be much higher than his success rate. The dangers were too much, especially depending on the type of creature they would be looking for, as well as their level at that specific point in time.

Shaking his head, Alexei responded slowly and meticulously. "You're right. Perhaps we'll find a better way one day. I would be honoured to support you in this endeavour, as much as you supported me in my very first mission in this place." He gestured around them, before slowly taking his place at the food cart.

Truth be told, Alexei had never truly worked a day in his life. Well, besides school, and his military career, he had never needed to work at all. Charity work was something else, of course, but even then, he never really raised a hand to do manual labour besides for his own career. Taking orders was, however, simple enough. The menial task was repetitive since most of everyone ordered the Chef's Special. It seems that this stand was something of an attraction, locally, perhaps. Not famous, but known well-enough that people often will come by when the stand is up and running. Alexei did his best to support Dee Dee, as she and her summons got busy with their work.

He just hoped that whatever support he was providing, it was helpful enough for Dee Dee. He truly did want to repay her kindness.

Alexei nodded at her message. It was fair, and true. "I could try to help you out, though I'm unsure as to how." He was thinking of his own skills. What can he do to trap a beast? This might be possible if his White Out skill could slow, blind, but not damage, though he was sure the damaging portion of the ability itself is something that is attached and cannot be taken out. His other skill was creating a golem, which can take the aggro from the beast, but might fail, and then attack Dee Dee.

"If I find a way to stun, or wrestle down a creature, I'll be sure to tell you." Alexei responded, before continuing, "Though we can always try weakening it to a point, and then stopping our attacks and try to tame it that way?" That was possibly the better option. "I'm not sure, however, as to how beasts in this world act when injured." He shrugged. Some might be willing to listen, while some might not. The problem is identifying which is which.

As they continued their conversation, Alexei realized that there were more people coming to the stand. It seems that more than a few people were looking towards eating something more sensible than hunted meat. "Would you like for me to help you out by the way?" He asked politely. "I don't really have anything to do at the moment." Plus, it was a way for him to repay the free food.

"That sounds really interesting." Alexei found himself thinking of his own class. He knew it was called the Winter General, and yet, at this point in time, he could only really create one soldier, so to speak. The ice golem he made was his "troop", and so he didn't truly feel that his class was a "General" just yet. Perhaps the system will provide him with more skills that support his team as a leader-based class.

In fact, now that he thought of it, his class worked best when there are other people working with him. Most of the bonuses goes to his team, of course. Alone, he cam fend for himself. With a group, he is able to provide damage-soaking, as well as an ability that slows and blinds their enemies, a marvellous way of defeating them in an easier manner.

"Perhaps you can try it out?" He suggested, though he was sure it was easier said than done. "Though, I suppose you will have to make sure that the creature isn't attacking you or anything." That would certainly make it hard. "Do you have any means to keep creatures at bay while you try to befriend and tame it?" His own class isn't as complicated or as intricate, he felt like.

Alexei nodded, processing what Dee Dee sent to him. The messaging system was really nifty, making this conversation much easier truth be told. Alexei was sure that if not for this system, Dee Dee would be using a pen and paper to write out responses, which was harder to do, especially when in the thick of a mission. The typing makes it faster and easier. And what Dee Dee responded with had a point.

"Of course, he started, "there's no reason we can't work together even if we aren't in the same guild." Working together towards a goal doesn't have to be guild exclusive, after all. No, guild rivalries will only make life within this new world worse for people. "I don't think we were meant to traverse this new world of ours alone, after all. We must be able to work together towards a common goal." They all might have varying goals, but at the core of it all, survival is still an important aspect of this new system and world.

"That's very interesting with your summons." Rereading the messages, he found himself even more curious. "That's really good that your summons also level up when you do, or at least, become stronger throughout. That means that they can stay with you and can be of help even when you hit higher levels." This was an interesting system. "The making friends route seems really challenging, though it can be fruitful if you find a creature that is either strong, or one that you feel a connection to. Have you even experienced that, at least? I myself have not seen many creatures yet, save for the polar bear during my tutorial, and the goblins we encountered." He paused then, thinking about his past few days and the things he'd seen.

Alexei nodded, mind already churning at the possibilities. He was thinking about what could be done, and what a group that focused on helping people can achieve in this place. For Alexei, he felt like this new world was not about winning anything. Being the strongest, the best, or the highest level can be a good goal for people, but Alexei believed that this world wasn't meant for that. It was meant for people to work together towards a goal. And Alexei felt that this can be done by teamwork, elevating each other towards success.

"I think you're right. As the information becomes more available, we'll see more and more guilds popping up." Alexei nodded thoughtfully. Perhaps he will need to find himself a medallion, or half of one. Maybe his rewards from the tutorial might contain one. He will have to take a peek soon.

Looking back at Dee Dee, he continued, "If I ever start a guild, you must let me invite you." Alexei smiled, "you don't have to say yes, of course. But it would be great to have someone as passionate as you with helping people out to be a part of the guild." It was all true, and Alexei hoped she understood his sincerity. He turned the discussion towards another direction with a question of his own. "Now, I'm curious about your summons. You explained how they worked, but I was curious if they...grow with you as you level up? And how do you get more of them, if you do?"

Alexei found himself wondering if creating a guild was worth it in the first place. Working together as a group was important in this world, especially to survive, thrive, and grow. However, having a guild ties one down to one specific group. What if a person does not work well with another guild member and has to leave? That would affect both the guild itself, and the person who was leaving. There were dynamics involved that made everything just a bit more complicated, though having a dedicated group of people you can count on made it worth it, he felt.

The perks, however, interested him. "Knowing the perks might be interesting, especially since if they're good, then we might see more guilds being created left and right." Any advantage should be taken, especially in a dangerous world like this. Anything to make sure that one can survive is important, after all.

"Do you know where one might be able to find a guild medallion? Or perhaps half of one?" He himself had not looked through his rewards yet though he wasn't sure if he had received one. Alexei had been holding off before opening up anything besides what the system hands to him directly. He wasn't sure why. "Perhaps one day I might open up a guild myself." Alexei chuckled, though an idea was already forming in his mind.

Alexei heard something he had never heard of before. Though, he was pretty sure he had read it in Dee Dee's book. Guild. He had spent a few going through Dee Dee's work. This was something that he was sure was one of the chapters he saw, but had not gotten to reading yet. The terms itself was self-explanatory, though he had not thought it was something possible. Then again, this was a system, a world, that ran like a game.

"A guild? Is that the same thing as those you see in games?" Alexei himself never truly gamed. Life was always too busy for him, and his free time was always occupied by other matters relating to his family, and his duties as the only son and heir. He had always envied his friends who had time for leisurely activities. "You can make those here?"

It would be an interesting thing to do, for sure. Alexei suddenly wondered whether there were guilds already established. What were their aims? What were their goals?

"Are there guilds established already here? I'm surprised they're not as blatant as I thought they might be." Alexei thought that he would at least see recruitment signs, posters, or anything really. At the question, Alexei found himself relaxing for a split second. The scene, the people, it all reminded him of his time during one of the officer nights. Officers of a certain rank usually got together at local bars and pubs wherever they were stationed in. These nights were usually spent untangling themselves from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives, unwinding and relaxing, a rare occasion that only happened once a month, if not less.

"Taking a break for the night, yes." Alexei nodded, taking a sip of his shot as he looked towards Heimdall. The man had serious potential, and he had shown it during their mission. His attacks were large-scale, which was both a boon and a curse for anyone working with him. However, there were ways around that. Ways in which you can utilize the large-scale forms of attack, in conjunction with his own mid-ranged skills.

Pausing for a moment to gather his thoughts, he continued, "Hey, I never asked, are you new to this whole thing as well?" Alexei gestured all around him, pointing to the new world, this system, and everything else that has replaced the life they all once had. "If so, how's your experience been so far?" It was a genuine question. His talk with Dee Dee had opened his eyes on just how this world can be sometimes tough on new players such as himself.
