"Symbiotic, you mean." Alexei smiled, correcting the young miss as he kept pace with her. He mulled things over, thinking about what Jeanne had mentioned. He had thought about it prior, of course. Being a part, and joining a guild would have its advantages. Being able to work with a group of people consistently was a perk for sure. Alexei himself had thought of creating his own guild, possibly with another person or two. [break][break]
"I think you have the right idea of starting some sort of a merchant guild." He started, speaking slowly as he formed his thoughts. "There will be people who will flock to you, buying things, selling things, and possibly even looking for something more. Protection, and such." In the real world, mercantile guilds held more than just the economy. The world, everything, revolved around money after all. [break][break]
Alexei paused, raising his brow as he continued, "I can see why you want "muscle" in your guild, so to speak." Mercantile guilds throughout history had their own armies, in some cases, "If you ever establish the guild of yours, make sure to message me through the system. If I am not part of a guild yet, I would be more than happy to join you in your adventure." It was, after all, an adventure is some sense.

At the mention of guildmaster, Alexei paused and smiled. Yes, he knew of what guildmasters were. His meeting with Dee Dee, and subsequently reading Dee Dee's book, gave him a good grasp of systems. Systems that he would not have looked for, nor thought of, if not for his conversations with Dee Dee.[break][break]
"I'm not quite a guildmaster, ma petite madame." Perhaps one day, though he was sure that it would take a long time for him to be able to establish himself. It was better to learn what this world was about first, get the lay of the land, grow, and then thrive. "A merchant guild, you say?" Alexei thought for a moment, "And where do the fighting people come in to this merchant guild? I would think a merchant guild would be focused solely on making money through craft and trade?" [break][break]
Alexei quickly took a step behind Jeanne, watching as she lead the way. "Oh, thank you! I must admit I am still unsure about this forge, though I've seen mention of it somewhere... He paused, trying to remember. Was it somewhere in Dee Dee's book? Perhaps it was in conversation with the woman. It sounded like a place where we can bring items for...repair, possibly improvement.

[attr="class","alreescroll"] [Tutorial][break][break] Alexei felt, more than saw, what was happening around him. He knew that Cyrus must have had at least one more person he needed to coax. The man was good at keeping himself and the other surveyors hidden from the polar bear. As well, the buff that he provided gave Alexei and his golem, a stat boost. It gave Alexei a boost in morale as well.[break][break] Trusting Cyrus' ability to support the surveyors, Alexei took his chance. His golem was attacking from one side, taking the polar bear's attention away from both Cyrus, and himself. Waiting for three seconds to make sure that his golem had the bear's attention, Alexei struck from the other side. [break][break] The golem took a hit to the face, and seem to be crumbling. However, it was also able to stab the polar bear on its torso. That elicited a roar. Alexei took the chance to maneuver himself. He let his training in fencing take over as he slashed forward. Alexei stabbed his saber straight into the the polar bear's side. While his saber was still in the polar bear, he shouted the skill he saw earlier in the menu. "White Out!"[break][break] A rush of ice and snow quickly overwhelmed the polar bear from within. It must have been torturous as the polar bear not only crumpled backward, but also began to freeze over from within. Alexei watched the polar bear crystallize. [break][break] Alexei pulled the saber out, and as he did so, the polar bear shattered into a million pieces. He did not even notice that a small blinking box had been notifying him of his new quest, which had been to kill the polar bear.[break][break] Finally feeling the stress on his body, Alexei found himself collapsing on the floor, buttocks first. He needed a rest after this. Alexei just hoped Cyrus had been able to rescue all of the surveyors. The man's buffs had been his saviour, though it seems like he pushed himself a bit too much. Now that was unexpected. Alexei had thought that it was only the system that had the ability to send out mystery boxes. In truth, that was still the case. However, it seems that this little girl was able to do something with the "pull" of the box. They can alter the item, it seems, which is very useful in its own right. However, the transaction still means that he needed to spend money, or in this place, points.

"I would buy some from you but..." Alexei paused a moment, trying to find the proper words before continuing slowly, "I'm still new to this place, and I was advised to take levels with my points to increase my chance of survival, as well as to access high tier missions and events." That had been a part of what he'd read from Dee Dee's book. It was only through growing strong that he could find his own way, carve his own life, and do what he wanted without needing his family's influence to help him.

Alexei sighed, before looking back at the young girl, smiling kindly. "So, yes. I'm currently investing in levels, so to speak." He paused, before answering her second question, as well as asking his own in return, "I'm a leader class, it seems. At least, that is what the system says. However, I'm curious, what's this forge you're talking about?" He'd never heard of a forge. Is that a specific place to craft items?

First impressions always mattered. That was what his father had taught him at a very young age. Jeanne's impression on Alexei was of his younger self, when people would call him patsan, and he would respond that he should be addressed as sudar. A young lord and heir were taught manners alongside their ABCs, after all. And so when he was outside, at school, and with his peers, he held himself with the proper decorum that of which is expected of him.

Alexei bowed in apology, a proper curtsy. "I apologize, ma petite madame." He looked at her with a small smile, "A careless mistake that this gentleman made, that which I hope you can forgive." Alexei continued. The girl looked to be very young, indeed.

"My name is Alexei." With introductions done, he continued, "And I was merely passing by when I spotted your stall." He wasn't sure if he should say what he was thinking, and then thought it no harm. "I was curious as to how someone could be selling mystery boxes. I had thought that it was something that the...System held, and distributed either during level-up." That had been his experience, at least.

Alexei rounded a bend as he surveyed his surroundings. It seems that the cities and towns of the world had changed. The face of the world was not what it used to be, and Alexei was just starting to get a hang of it. Truly, the man was at odds with the fact that everything felt the same, and yet could not be so different from before.

This was the marketplace, it looked like. There was some hustle and bustle around, but Alexei himself kept to the side. He didn't want to be swept into the simple chaos that is the market. He knew that there was money to be made in a world such as these, and NPCs and players alike set themselves up in congregated areas to maximize exposure, and therefore prospective business.

Turning around, he was just about to leave the place when a small voice caught his ear. Was that a child? He turned to his left, and found himself looking at a stall where a little girl was...selling boxes. Curiousity killed the cat. Alexei took a stride, and found himself smiling at the young girl, before speaking softly. "Ma petite mademoiselle, I'm surprised someone as young as you is in the business of peddling wares." Alexei noticed the French intonation in her voice, and decided to advance in a familiar manner. Though his French was not up-to-par when compared with a native speaker, he had learned enough for it to be passable in both conversation and academic usage.

Their presence must've disturbed their haven, which had been a portion of New York that had been abandoned. The place was desolate, and therefore was a prime breeding place for these monsters. The weaker ones who might not survive in the more dangerous places. Monsters, after all, can also hunt other monsters. [break][break] Heimdall dispatched three, while Alexei himself tried his best to dodge the acid being spat. He was able to dodge two, but caught one by the shoulder. The only reason he knew it was acid was because of how it fizzled onto his new coat, before the system itself notified him that his cloak was now "refreshing". Sighing, he waved his sword, poising himself as three charged him at in haste. [break][break] His shoulder felt slightly burnt, but he denied himself the pain as his enemies came closer. Alexei needed them closer still, grouped together perfectly for him. Three. Two. One. He swiped his sword forward, and a another wave of his skill White Out tore through the slimes, freezing the three and shattering them into pieces. [break][break] Alexei was expecting more, and he was not denied the satisfaction of being correct. "More." He whispered to himself, as he found two slimes jumping their way to engage him in combat. However, from what he'd seen, he was given ordinary things, far from the items that Heimdall got. They looked to be sleek, and very durable, something that was to be held with great importance. Luck, as it seems, did not run in him, unfortunately. [break][break] He watched as the man took towards the five slimes coming towards them. In two moves, his companion was able to dispatch both of the slimes that came forward first. It was quick and efficient, something that Alexei knew Heimdall was very capable of. Thumbing his own saber, Alexei quickly moved forward when provided the signal. [break][break] "White Out." Alexei whispered as he slashed his sword forward. The snow and ice that raced through the small area caught the last three, freezing them meticulously, before they shattered into small pieces. "it seems like we attracted attention." Alexei nodded towards the horizon, as more slimes charged forward. Especially in a city like this, there is safety in numbers." That was, at least, what was explained to him by Dee Dee's book. "So, we can expect them in fives or sixes minimum. I've seen at least fifteen gather together, though I'm sure that was only because of that man's ability." Alexei chuckled softly at the memory of Cyrus and his guitar playing. [break][break] "New weapons?" Alexei nodded towards Heimdall's daggers. "They look well-made! I'm guessing they have special properties, just like my saber." His own saber was the source of his skills, and therefore was very important to him. Though, it seems like the dagger themselves weren't a part of the man's class. Perhaps he got it as a drop. "I trust you. Take the lead, and I'll support you from behind." He can also create his golem if and when needed, though he was sure they would be fine relying on his saber and other skill. The man was an interesting fellow, and the way he handled things was the same as Alexei's own. The am reminded him of his comrades in the army more than anything, which is always comforting to say the least. [break][break] "I suppose you're right." Alexei shrugged, before turning his attention to Heimdall, "However, we work well together, so I don't see any harm in teaming up." There were few that Alexei trusted in this place to have his back, but Heimdall was slowly becoming one of them. Plus, from what he'd seen, killing slimes would be eaiser with both Heimdall and his own skills put together. [break][break] "Just so you know, slimes like to group up and attack together." When the woman touched the plant, it disappeared from sight and this message appeared. The bar confused Alexei for a moment before he realized that it tracked their progress. That made everything so much easier. [break][break] "That does make it easier." Alexei nodded, before looking around to see if there were any other Echinacea plants around. They usually grow in groups, and some might sprout just around with how the medicinal plant interacts with its surroundings. Spotting another one just to the left, Alexei took a few steps towards it and touched the plant. Just like with his companion, the plant disappeared, and the bar filled just a bit more. [break][break] Moving forward, he peered along the road. "Let's move up. We might be able to see some more over there." Alexei pointed towards a clearing. It would still be within the borders of the city itself, though definitely a path less trodden by most people. "In any case, I'll definitely stop by. I've not seen a proper book since...arriving here. And certainly not a magic one." Alexei found himself just a bit excited about the prospects! [break] |

He had been pre-occupied with visiting places, and participating in the sparing missions he had seen or pointed towards. The thought of a bookshop actually being in business delighted him. Perhaps when he finds a permanent place to stay in, he can finally rebuild his once-vast collection. [break][break] "I'm glad that even in the midst of this," he gestured around them, "the spirit of literature is still alive." Alexei nodded gladly, "Perhaps I should visit once we're done with this. I often indulge myself in mystery novels." He could still remember his personal library, one which had been his solace during his most turbulent times. [break][break] Alexei realized they made great strides and were now edging their way to the outskirts. Peering forward, he found himself smiling as he spotted the only plant he knew from the list. "Look, that's Echinacea." Alexei took a knee and gazed at the clump of Coneflowers growing on a patch of soil. "This is one of them, right?" He reached over, but before he even touched the flower, he held himself back and asked, "Is there a specific way we need to do to harvest this medicinal plant?" He himself knew that his preference for isolation was sometimes very unnerving to those who want to spend time with him. But, as they say, there are some things that must be done. In this case, herb gathering! [break][break] He watched as she took pictures, and found himself amazed. He hadn't thought that cameras worked in this place, nor had he experienced its use. Alexei pocketed that information for next time, and instead focused on the task at hand. He consoled himself with the fact that the woman had photos of what they were supposed to find. He also only just realized that the woman had not introduced herself. [break][break] "Right." Alexei nodded, turning his attention away from the NPC and towards the streets. Instead of heading to the area where he had just gone through, the busy parts of the city itself, he faced himself towards the outskirts of the city, where there was less traffic. "The outskirts would be good, I think." Alexei nodded to himself, "shall we?"[break][break] Taking a step forward, he led the way. He supposed it might be better this way. Alexei will lead the way, while he supported the woman in identifying and collecting the plants. Speaking of, he turned back towards her and asked gently, "It seems that you're very prepared, and I'm glad I'm with you on this mission. I'm curious, however, where did you find that book?" Alexei himself had been reading Dee Dee's book, and have not found any others. Perhaps he can finally restart his novel collection here in this new world of theirs. [break] |
