[attr="class","alreescroll"] [Mission Link][break][break] Alexei felt himself grow just a bit more powerful in the past few days. It seems that all the work he has put in with completing the few missions he had been on had finally bore fruit. He had been prompted with leveling up, and he had taken the opportunity to invest his stats, as well as grab some mysterious loot, which provided him with more gear. So now, he was wearing a worn jacket and some new boots, alongside his saber, which glinted in the sun. [break][break] Bringing up the system interface, Alexei realized that he was at the spot he had been pointed towards. It seems that this place, New York City, had seen an uptick in slime population. Specifically along the coast, the slime population has slowly risen from controllable to semi-uncontrollable. Alexei knew, from Dee Dee's book, that these slimes must be water-based, which served well for his own skills, which were ice-based. Cool them down, and shatter them. Simple and easy. [break][break] Just as he was about to accept the mission and set out with the task, another information panel appeared. It seems that he was to be doing this with another person. That was well enough since another person would make this mission so much easier. The added benefit was the fact that another person in the group would surely make the extermination of these slimes so much faster. As well, from what he has read so far, his passive is leader-based, which means that working with people was what he was supposed to do. Providing a soaking up of damage of up to 10% three times isn't something to scoff at, apparently. [break][break] Leaning onto a cracked and almost-destroyed wall, Alexei waited for the arrival of his partner for this mission. He just hoped they didn't take too long to arrive. [break] |

It had been about a day since Heimdall had leveled up as he expected he felt himself get stronger. However, what was a surprise to him was the mysterious boxes he had chosen which gave him a pair of daggers that would be useful when working with others in close spaces. He also gained an overcoat that would turn into a breastplate whenever he willed it to do so, which was pretty great. With his newfound power and gear, Heimdall would continue his journey through North America, arriving in New York City. The red-haired man had visited the city once in the old world, but it was too overcrowded for his taste. However, that didn't seem to be the case anymore, which he supposed made sense given the current state of the continent nowadays.

As he got closer to the coastline, he'd look to his left as the system interface appeared next to him, alerting him that there was a mission nearby. Heimdall would quickly scan over it. The mission seemed simple enough just kill some slimes that we were getting out of hand, which the class should have no problem with, seeing as it used the power of the fire giants. After accepting the mission, the system would once again alert him that someone else would be joining him before giving directions to where his partner was. Upon arriving at the spot, a small smile would form across his lips as he spotted who it was. "Alexei, my friend, if we keep meeting like this, people will start to talk."

The man was an interesting fellow, and the way he handled things was the same as Alexei's own. The am reminded him of his comrades in the army more than anything, which is always comforting to say the least. [break][break] "I suppose you're right." Alexei shrugged, before turning his attention to Heimdall, "However, we work well together, so I don't see any harm in teaming up." There were few that Alexei trusted in this place to have his back, but Heimdall was slowly becoming one of them. Plus, from what he'd seen, killing slimes would be eaiser with both Heimdall and his own skills put together. [break][break] "Just so you know, slimes like to group up and attack together." He continued, turning now towards the direction where the slimes would be found. "They come in waves, so I think you're skill set would be useful in this case." There was truth in this, and Alexei shrugged non-chalantly, "You might need to take the lead with your large area attacks, while I pick off the ones that come out." It worked well enough last time, perhaps it might work again this time around. [break] |

Heimdall would nod his head in agreement to the other man's comment. There was no denying the two of them worked great as a team with the way their skills worked together. It almost made Heimdall wonder if the world itself was having them meet each other as much as they did because of that fact. After all, if it could force them into this new world and give them what is basically superpowers, it surely could do something as simple as making two people meet more often. That's true. It's better to fight with others rather than alone. Even more so when you've both worked together before." The red-haired man would listen as Alexie gave some details on the monsters they'd be fighting this time.

"Sounds like this isn't your first time fighting slimes. Do you know how many are in a wave and how many waves we're likely to run into?" While the information would be nice to have, Heimdall wasn't too worried if the other man didn't have answers to his question as he was confident enough that the two of them could handle however many there was the two of them could handle it. As Alexei mentioned that he might have to take the lead in the fight, a small smile would cross the red-haired man's lips. "Sure, I don't mind taking the lead this time. However, I won't start off with my skills right away. I want to try out these daggers first."

Especially in a city like this, there is safety in numbers." That was, at least, what was explained to him by Dee Dee's book. "So, we can expect them in fives or sixes minimum. I've seen at least fifteen gather together, though I'm sure that was only because of that man's ability." Alexei chuckled softly at the memory of Cyrus and his guitar playing. [break][break] "New weapons?" Alexei nodded towards Heimdall's daggers. "They look well-made! I'm guessing they have special properties, just like my saber." His own saber was the source of his skills, and therefore was very important to him. Though, it seems like the dagger themselves weren't a part of the man's class. Perhaps he got it as a drop. "I trust you. Take the lead, and I'll support you from behind." He can also create his golem if and when needed, though he was sure they would be fine relying on his saber and other skill. [break][break] "I think I see some over there." Pointing towards a corner, Alexei spotted a small group bouncing their way around. It seems that these slimes weren't as frightened of the human population as they were supposed to be. [break] |

Heimdall listened as the other man spoke about what he knew about slimes. He was certainly able to understand how such large groups of slimes could give new players who lacked the skills to deal with multiple foes at once such a hard time. However, the duo lacked no such problem, which meant that, in theory, it would be a walk in the park for them. Even with that being the case, Heimdall still would have preferred not to fight fifteen at once, as it was unlikely his skill's AoE was even large enough to hit that many at once. As Alexei asked if the daggers were a new weapon, the red-haired man nodded his head. "Yup, I got them from a mysterious box for leveling up, same with the overcoat I'm wearing. However, I'm not exactly sure what they can do just yet other than the fact my coat can turn into a breastplate and serve as armor."

It didn't take long after heading out for the two men to run across their first group of slimes. As Alexei pointed them out, Heimdall's gaze shifted to slimes as he counted five in total. Wasting no time, he'd start heading towards them, pulling out his daggers as he did. Once he was within a few feet of the slimes, the monsters would notice the man. The creatures would start to rush him, and as two of them got within range, Heimdall would quickly lash out with both daggers cutting deep into two of the slimes ending their lives swiftly. He would then roll out of the way before calling out to his teammate. "You can use that fancy attack now!"

However, from what he'd seen, he was given ordinary things, far from the items that Heimdall got. They looked to be sleek, and very durable, something that was to be held with great importance. Luck, as it seems, did not run in him, unfortunately. [break][break] He watched as the man took towards the five slimes coming towards them. In two moves, his companion was able to dispatch both of the slimes that came forward first. It was quick and efficient, something that Alexei knew Heimdall was very capable of. Thumbing his own saber, Alexei quickly moved forward when provided the signal. [break][break] "White Out." Alexei whispered as he slashed his sword forward. The snow and ice that raced through the small area caught the last three, freezing them meticulously, before they shattered into small pieces. "it seems like we attracted attention." The red-haired mage didn't have to wait long for Alexei to use whiteout and watched as the last three slimes turned to ice a few inches away from him before shattering. Heimdall had certainly cut it close with almost being in the range of the other man's attack and, as such, was able to feel the air around him drop in temperature. This, of course, didn't bother him much as his home country was known for being cold almost year-round. That being said, he was, of course, still glad that the ice attack didn't hit him, as, based on what happened to the slimes, he wouldn't have been in for a great time if that had happened. With their current group of foes slain, Heimdall was getting ready to make his way back over to his partner but would stop in his tracks as the man-made mentioned that they had attracted more of the slimes and they were gaining on the men fast.

"Well, at least they saved us the trouble of finding them. However, there sure is a lot of them." As Heimdall finished counting a total of ten slimes, two of them seemed to have ranged attacks as they both spit acid at Heimdall. Luckily the red-haired mage was able to turn his overcoat into it's breastplate form just in time to take the brunt of the attack. The two attacks managed to break his armor; however, it had done its job and protected him from any real harm. As a response, Heimdall would grab one of the embers in his hand, crushing it into ash. He would then call down the power of the fire giants. "giantsflame." The burst of flame would then hit one of the slimes that had used its ranged attack on his causing an explosion of flames to erupt, engulfing two additional slimes and reducing all three to nothing but ash to blow away in the wind.

Their presence must've disturbed their haven, which had been a portion of New York that had been abandoned. The place was desolate, and therefore was a prime breeding place for these monsters. The weaker ones who might not survive in the more dangerous places. Monsters, after all, can also hunt other monsters. [break][break] Heimdall dispatched three, while Alexei himself tried his best to dodge the acid being spat. He was able to dodge two, but caught one by the shoulder. The only reason he knew it was acid was because of how it fizzled onto his new coat, before the system itself notified him that his cloak was now "refreshing". Sighing, he waved his sword, poising himself as three charged him at in haste. [break][break] His shoulder felt slightly burnt, but he denied himself the pain as his enemies came closer. Alexei needed them closer still, grouped together perfectly for him. Three. Two. One. He swiped his sword forward, and a another wave of his skill White Out tore through the slimes, freezing the three and shattering them into pieces. [break][break] Alexei was expecting more, and he was not denied the satisfaction of being correct. "More." He whispered to himself, as he found two slimes jumping their way to engage him in combat.
