In her continuing exploration of the expanded Safe Zone around the ANTHEM Guild base, Hana had realized something. While she'd done a quick patrol of the streets, and even checked out a few buildings, she'd overlooked an important part of of the city. The subway! So today it was time to fix that mistake.

The entrance seemed safe enough, so after cautiously descending the stairs she took in the expansive, empty underground. Besides the excessive neon and some futuristic upgrades to the ticket machines and turnstiles, not to mention the vending machines, it was all so familiar. Although she'd absolutely never seen things this empty.

Confirming the initial area was safe, she made her way to the platform. "Well, there's definitely no trains coming anytime soon. So..." Retrieving her surfboard from her inventory, she began to ride it down the tracks towards the next station inside the Guild Safe Zone, a wave forming to continuously push her forward.

"Woah! Is that Hikiari's new pet? Cool!" Hana seemed quite impressed by the winged snake, distracted by it for a few moments before she realized the Waddle-Dee was attempting to take the egg from her. She looked away for a moment to hand it over with a smile, watching Dee Dee's companions carefully tend to the fragile objects.

Taking the offered tomato with one hand, she used the other to transfer points to Dee Dee through the system menu, before giving her a thumbs up in return! "I'd love to come and visit, sure! We haven't really done much work this far out, the Safe Zone just extended out here recently. People are starting to reappear, but mostly near the Guild base." Hana turned to look back the way they'd come from, before nodding at the group. "Probably safer, for now. Just in case."

"Oh, did you find more of those dragon cows? I guess they were a highlight of that area..." Hana tilted her head, remembering their mission there. "Hmm, I've still got that treasure map I need to use up there. I should visit again sometime."

Things were looking up in Neo-Tokyo these days. The Safe Zone around ANTHEM's Guild base was expanding steadily, and Hana was celebrating the Guild's upgrade to Stage Three by inviting over two of the other Guild leaders. She'd already shown off their modest base, so this time they were taking a tour of the small section of the city they'd reclaimed.

Hikari had also been invited along, as she had some business to discuss with Dee Dee, the Utopia Guild leader. An egg, just about to hatch, that needed the Summoner's expert care to help increase the strength of whatever creature was about to appear. "That's a pretty good idea, actually..."

Stopping their walking tour in the middle of a small plaza still decorated with traces of the glaring neon lights that were so common closer to the heart of the city, Hana paused by the statue of a small dog while accessing her inventory. "Me and Enigma just got some eggs from this weird mission we did."

She produced the large, water-themed egg to display it to Dee Dee. "Think you could keep an eye on mine, too? I'll transfer you some points for the hassle." Hana grinned, before looking towards Enigma. "You too, right?"

Hana let herself bounce into the air a final time before sound waves began to pulse from the boots of her armor, letting her float and ignore the rubbery state of the floor. It looked like they had the two creatures handled...which meant it was time for three more to appear. Of course.

She could see foes approaching her and Hikari, as well as trying to slip past them to go after the two less melee-ready members of the party. Hana couldn't be everywhere at once to help, though. Or could she? The beat she was creating suddenly began to speed up as she rushed to rejoin the others.

Unfortunately, the musician rushed right into the grasp of one of the cuff monsters! And then...another Hana was grabbed by another one of them? After a moment both copies of Hana disappeared in a shower of sparkles, making it clear they were only distractions, just like the many other duplicates flying around the room, all seemingly dancing along in time to the music.

The strange creatures now all thankfully seemed more intent on bouncing at or grabbing for Hana's clones than attacking the rest of them. She simply repositioned, not interfering with Hikari's dance or Jonas' song.

Once Hikari had gotten settled in at the apartment complex that ANTHEM had taken over as a base, Hana had gotten to know her a little better. Eventually the subject of their former residences had come up. Mostly in size comparison, as neither was used to such cramped quarters. However, both had appreciated the complete freedom of their own entirely private space.

The next step was revealing exactly why they'd both had such large living spaces before...and Hana had to admit, Hikari had her beat. Her family and Emir's probably would've gotten along. And, while Hana had done her Tutorial in Japan and been able to confirm her family's home and the studio she frequented were both missing before realizing how dangerous the area was and fleeing, Hikari apparently hadn't been at all interested in returning home to investigate.

So, after a very anxious drive, the two were now on foot, covering the last few blocks. The new hairpin Hana had received from her fellow Guild leader was already coming in handy, letting her keep up with the normally much stealthier Hikari. Once the pair turned the final corner, the musician stopped dead in her tracks to gawk.

"Wow! What a mansion!" Hikari had, perhaps, undersold the size of her home just a bit. Or maybe she didn't realize how out of the ordinary it was? "It's, like, a whole compound!" Hana stared from across the street, brushing sakura petals away from her glasses. She needed a few minutes just to take in the size, trying to figure out how best to approach entering the place and checking it for unwanted residents. Speaking of...

"Psst, Hikari...I think some weirdo is trying to break in!" She leaned in, whispering conspiratorially, while pointing towards an oddly dressed figure near one of the walls surrounding the estate.

Hana fell back as the creature crumbled apart, damaged armor disappearing soon after she wound up sitting on the floor. "Oof...just in time..." She just sat there near Enigma's feet, catching her breath as the large sprite reformed to address them. Well. It mostly reformed.

"Um, nice to meet you..." Hana couldn't quite bow from her spot on the floor, but she didn't have the energy to get back up either. "Sorry about, uh. Everything." She winced as the doctor was brought up. "Enigma's Guild has, like, facilities for bad guys. So I thought I'd turn him over to them." The musician gestured up at the masked man with one hand.

She quieted down after that, letting Enigma have his say. He really did overthink these things. The answer seemed obvious to her. Well, he got there eventually, it just took a while. "Yeah, we wanna save them! I'm sorry you won't be able to leave the Crimson Realm with us too..."

Hana finally managed to drag herself to her feet, standing near Enigma. Giving the elemental a proper, if tired, bow. "I promise to help keep them safe. Maybe when they trust us more, they'll lead us to your friends anyway, right?" She smiled at the idea.

"Maybe we shouldn't have listened to the mad scientist? I don't think that helped!" Hana winced inside her armor as the beast made its intentions clear. "Maybe if we beat it all the sprites will pop back out like before?" She could hope, at least.

As Enigma reflected the dust away from him, Hana quickly equipped her shield and raised her arm...but the humming bubble of sound it created wasn't going to last for long. At least Enigma's summon was able to vacuum up the flood of water, so she didn't have to worry about that!

Following him in, she passed Enigma as he paused to fire, suddenly dropping to her knees to slide forward as her partner felt a sudden, familiar boost in his abilities. Hana was knocked out of her powerslide by the protective bubble bursting, the dust now beginning to eat at her armor. The musician recovered quickly, rolling forward to continue her approach as Enigma punched over her head to strike the creature.

"You know what that means...curtain call!" Hana got off one final frantic chord from her crystalline guitar before it disappeared to free up her hands. "NO ENCORE!" Shifting up to one knee, slamming her fist into the beast slightly below Enigma's own punches. A speaker popped out of her gauntlet, blasting it with sound waves...although the metal was already peeling back to reveal the glove underneath...

Hana hopped off her board, returning it to her inventory as she looked between the two, watching them argue. "Aww, just because he's squishy doesn't mean he's not powerful! You just gotta raise some of those other stats sometimes." A lot of people seemed to focus entirely on their main damage dealing stats, which could be dangerous if you didn't defeat all the enemies before they had a chance to target you in return.

"Oh, Arcana. Sorry!" She bowed apologetically, before the topic of what everyone was doing here came up. "Super spy?" Hana blinked a few times, before the rest of their questions helped her figure out what they meant. "Oh, Enimga! Yeah, his Guild got put in charge of conducting surveys in this area for the new event. Kinda like the trade Guild handed the last one." The musician nodded.

"Enigma helped me with the last one, so I got the new skill and everything!" Hana raised a hand, snapping her fingers as she partially faded out of view, becoming translucent. "Ooooh, spooky, right?" She waved the hand through the singer's new hat, passing right through it harmlessly. "Are you both surveying the same species, or did you not pick one out yet?"

She floated an inch or so off the ground towards the two, waiting to hear what they were officially up to. "I'm happy to help out with a mission and survey and stuff. I know my way around this area pretty well now!"

Hana had already done all the introductory missions once, and investigated some spirits for that survey. The last thing on the list involved assisting someone else with their own survey, meeting some new fantastical species. Both Enigma and Dee Dee had already finished theirs, and even Hikari was done with her trip. So, here she was, surfing around the zone looking for any familiar faces out on a mission.

She heard something familiar before seeing it, though. Not the voice, or the song, but the way the air hummed when those particular powers were used. Hana looked back and forth, adjusting her glasses, before spotting the figure sitting near the docks. Maybe they'd arrived on the boat that'd just left? Or maybe they'd been sitting there waiting for the arrival of the person walking over to them.

Nope, the new person was yelling at the one seated, so they probably weren't friends! Deciding to investigate who might be harassing one of her Guild members, Hana picked up speed, surfboard propelling itself across the water towards the two. "Hey Jonas! Oh, and...uh...Kana!" They'd only met briefly, and it'd been a while as well.

The two watched the musician move across the water on the self-propelled board, before it just as casually continued streaming water behind and underneath to carry itself up onto dry land towards them. She gave them both a friendly wave and a big smile, but kept quiet to let Jonas sing. And give them both a moment to explain.

Hana gripped her guitar, hefting it up to use as a weapon, ready for a fight. Then the sprites decided to fly out on their own, which didn't end well. She began to hurry after them, even as Enigma and the doctor shouted for her to help smash up the machine. "I'll get to that in a sec! First things first!"

Guitar vanishing for the moment, she used one free hand to firmly punch the mad scientist right in his very punchable face, before retrieving a key with her other hand. Much like Enigma had to start this adventure, she turned it in open air, a door appearing and opening for her. "Enjoy the refreshments, I'll deal with you after!" A firm shove, and Dr. Kwan would be sent inside, before Hana retracted the key to make the door disappear again.

"Don't worry, he'll be fine. Probably." Now she could turn her attention to the malfunctioning device, guitar reappearing as she moved to attack. Swinging the crystalline weapon as sonic waves slashed into the strange contraption, hoping that would be enough to free their new allies.

Hana glanced around for a moment, before remembering this transformation from last time. The clones had all similarly altered in appearance, even if they didn't really have any stats or abilities to improve. "Oh yeah, this thing. You can handle offense then!" Her duplicates had defense covered.

She nodded as he urged her on, accelerating into the final stretch. Dodging and weaving around fallen drones and chunks of road damaged by all the explosions. Hana was getting used to winning these races, actually! Her clones slowly disappeared, allowing the racers following them to catch up and cross the finish line as well. No reason to slow them down any further now that she'd claimed first place.

The musician gave Enigma a thumbs up as he nodded at her in return. "Now that the easy races are out of the way, we can really tune up a vehicle properly and give the advanced ones a try! How does that sound?"

Their vehicle rushed forward as all the magnets switched off after they passed, leaving the pursuing competitors struggling to catch up. Hana was even able to pass the few in front of her thanks to the burst of speed she'd picked up. Now they just had to maintain this lead.

"Alright, last lap! Time for the speed burst!" Hana reached over to turn up the volume on the car's radio, as music began to blare. Not from the radio, of course, just from Hana herself. This was followed by the now familiar sight of her compact car doubling, tripling, rapidly multiplying as the road was completely packed with cloned vehicles.

Speeding along at the head of this newly created pack, the duplicates blocked the rest of the drivers from catching up while also distracting the drones. Hana bobbed in her seat to the beat she was pumping out, unconsciously weaving left and right in time to the music. The drones were wasting shots taking out clones, and any that tried to divebomb them or set up blockades also simply crashed into expendable copies. All they had to do was keep this up for a few more minutes while the cloned cars cleared the path for them!

"Magnets? How do they work?" Hana scanned all around her, trying to make sense of things. Letting out a yelp as their vehicle was jerked one way, then shoved the other direction. It was a real struggle just to attempt to go straight!

As usual, the other drivers were having an even worse time of it. They passed several stuck to the wall. Or ceiling. Or simply bouncing back and forth, trapped in an endless loop. "Wait a sec. The signs aren't the direction we need to turn..." The musician closely examined a few more of the glowing neon warnings before confirming her suspicions.

"They're the direction the magnets are gonna go!" Hana swerved suddenly...right into the pull of a magnet, which yanked them forward, boosting their speed. "So that means if we...and then..." She was doing her best to plot a course. Sling-shotting back and forth between magnets, letting them bounce and shove her forward as she blew past the other races. Of course, after seeing her demonstration, several were already altering course to mimic their progress...
