What the hell was all this?! The once tropical island that his Guild inhabited suddenly looked like the top of Mount Everest! To top it all off boxes were falling from the sky! Kurai could swear that Earth-Chan was trying to kill them. With the event taking over his current place of residence, how could he not become involved? “Damn thing. It isn't enough to change the weather now we have to worry about getting knocked in the head by who knows what.” Kurai spat and sputtered as he moved around the island picking up presents by himself. Seere didn't even want to be summoned due to the snow and cold. Looking around why would they want to be? "The hells is all this?" Elara had just wanted a nice little getaway from the monster fighting and the nonsense, and had spent the better part of her morning reading a scavenged book she'd thought to grab during her brief time in New York. She'd sat fully clothed with a little bit of sunblock on, that little bit of extra zinc-y white left on her nose not as some kind of statement of style but fully forgotten by the time she'd finished her exposed hands and ankles. She had new shoes finally, her old ones taken from the old world having gained an odd sort of mildew smell from all the gross places Eel had been so far, but also just from being apocalypse'd in a thunderstorm.

So now here, just a bit away under the shade of a tree (and a beach umbrella), not on the sand but close enough to it to feel some of that residual heat, Elara was frustrated to find more Earth-chan shenanigans taking over her little getaway. Snow and ice seemed to cut across the landscape, creating a harsh contrast in biome, and in spite of the still-warm ground she sat on felt a cool winter's air blow past her.

Elara glanced around, expecting an attack or something suddenly dangerous, but could notice only a few newly apparated penguins milling about and a bunch of bunches in various wrapping and sizes falling from the sky. Then she got the mission briefing in that usual blue window. She begrudgingly accepted. Eel spotted another human shape in the distance apparently picking up the presents, not one of the local creatures as far as she could tell, and not a penguin either. She packed up her book into a small pack and opted to leave her shoulder-slung travel back empty of the beach set she'd brought; it was free anyways, and this would leave more room for presents.

"Howdy!" The woman called out a little wary, moving towards the stranger who was probably on the same job as her. Unless there were folks out here trying to steal the presents? Elara spent a few good seconds pondering what it could mean to steal from Earth during this facsimile of a holiday, but opted against it, still continuing to close the distance to the other person. Eel had already seen how problematic it could be to do anything even remotely against the cruel deity's wishes. She got within a reasonable speaking range, a few presents already placed into her beach-bag, with a few letters to 'Santa' she'd found as well.

"Owowow! What's going on?"
Panya had been getting pelted by the raining presents from above. She summoned her sarcophagus to shield herself from the fallout while staring up at the present boxes of all sizes and shapes. The archeologist was confounded by what was happening in the Draco Islands as presents and boxes of all sizes bombarded anybody unfortunate enough to be caught standing underneath. The large makeshift shield had offered Panya some adequate coverage from the raining projectiles. Her free hand plucked one of the parcels from the ground and observed its packaging.
"How odd. It's just a normal present from the looks of it. Nothing really out of the ordinary."
She shook it a few times before throwing it into her inventory and continuing to investigate the rest of the presents. Her little curious self had began to pick up every present that she had come across and stuff it into her bag. Panya continued running around and grabbing as many presents as she could before running into a familiar face. The woman's expression lightened while waving over towards the spikey haired rebel.
"Kurai! It's wonderful to see you again. Do you need some cover?" she offered, offering him a place underneath her sarcophagus before the other woman nearby would call over for the both of them. Panya waved over in greeting, sometimes collecting a present or two in the meanwhile.

As expected from this sort of event it didn't take long for others to show up. Along with the festive creatures now wandering the once-tropical area, there were groups of people gathering presents. A few of them even decided to approach him. Seeing Panya again brought his mood up somewhat as he moved under her makeshift umbrella. “Good to see you too. Seems we keep getting paired up for these ridiculous events. Looks like this one will be easier than the last at least.” Kurai grumbled as he continued to pick up gifts from the ground and give them a shake. When he heard someone else nearby calling out to them Kurai turned his attention to her with a raised eyebrow. He hadn't seen this person before so maybe they wanted help completing the mission. “No. This is my first time seeing them.” He waved the woman over under the sarcophagus. “Hey. Name's Kurai and the strong woman is Panya. Want a hand dealing with the mission?”It was then that the group could hear a devilish cackle come from something nearby. Turning to see what it was Kurai saw a pair of elves rushing at the group. One of them was dressed in a white coat that you'd see doctors wear complete with a nametag that said 'Hermey'. They wielded a dentist's drill in one hand and pliers in the other. “What the hell is that?...” While Kurai was questioning if what he was seeing was real another elf came from behind to shove him out from under the cover and to the ground before zipping away. “Son of a bitch! There's two of them!” After picking himself up he noticed the one that hit him was wearing a pair of golden shoes with white wings on the heel. Kurai let out a frustrated yell before whipping his right hand in its direction sending out a torrent of what looked like black electricity with red streaks at the elf. Thankfully it connected knocking the bastard back as well as causing the electricity to cling to and course through their body. “That'll slow the fucker down...”De/buffs: Utopia Bandanna (+20% VIT and WIL. How had she missed the second person with a damned coffin- no, sarcophagus? Elara had to chalk it up to some winter madness or some nonsense, or perhaps the sudden onset of snow caused hallucination. Regardless, there were two strangers to flag down now instead of one, and Eels found herself closing in on the two with her bag of presents in two. The mention of help was welcome, though she wasn't sure picking up gifts was necessarily above her skill level, regardless of what the popup had said. Still...

"Sure, wouldn't mind teaming up. Is this all we're supposed to do?" Elara gestured to the wrapped boxes and packages raining down, like heavy snowflakes ungraciously plummeting to earth. Despite the way they fell, the presents didn't seem to deform or get destroyed as they hit the ground, but as a blue rectangle about three feet long fell on Eel long-ways she wasn't surprised to find that they did in fact hurt. She still grabbed the thing and dragged it that last bit of the way before a blur passed in front of her, halting her advance. "Oh."

A holiday elf in a white coat. It seemed Earth-chan was not above producing damn near anything if it suited their whimsy. What a strange place the planet had become. Elara sighed as she scanned the drill in one hand, feeling a sympathetic pain in one tooth in memory of a past visit to the dentist. "No, that's none of my business." She considered just leaving and going back to her little vacation, but that blur passed by again and brushed her bag. It felt a few letters-to-santa lighter.

"Oh, it's your business all right! Thinking you can take my job and-" The fellow had slowed enough to get zapped by one of the friendly folk's lightning, slowing them further. Elara was able to see the elf's attire now, in a skintight suit with boots adorned by wings, evocative of... something?

"Ooooh. Hermey-" She noted the nametag on the coat. "-and Hermeys? Goofy." Elara slung the bag over a shoulder and settled it as best she could. Ideally she would make her way to the other two people defending themselves and they could fight these elves as a group, but Hermeys had her cut off. She had to engage with the speedster for now. Eel shuffled and moved close enough, keeping eyes on each opponent. Once close enough her eyes would flash with a dark otherworldly blueish black, her visage taking on an emaciated quality for just a moment to anyone looking, hair stark white, eye sockets sunken, skin pulled taught and gray like a corpse with just as much bone exposed, protruding in likeness to a cervidae. It was gone as quick as it had started, and Hermeys would hopefully be remorseful of all his wrongs, however that might manifest, while also being fucking terrified of Eel and too scared to approach her again. If the elf dared look at her again, he and only he would see that gaunt face glaring back, hungry for something worse than his flesh.

The sarcophagus had provided the two with ample opportunity to escape the hailstorm of presents. It was big enough to cover them both, although Panya did worry for the mummy that had been inside of it. Would he be cranky by having his beauty rest interrupted by this constant banging of presents? Who was to say, but his bandage wrappings were fairly helpful! "I agree," she beamed at Kurai, "Much better than fighting that huge skeleton from last time."The other woman had finally noticed the both of them. The ever timid one, Panya fled behind Kurai as her self confidence had all but faded. She still covered the both of them from raining presents as a blush came to her cheeks from his comment about being a strong woman. "Wuh-Well, actually, this doesn't weigh that much...at least to me, anyway. It's nice to meet you though." Could anybody else pick this thing up but her? It had never really been tested on the count of people being smashed by it. Just then, the most peculiar sight came before the trio. Two elves, rushing forward with weapons in hand! Were rather, dentist equipment. The archeologist pursed her lips together while she mused over the current events. Was this some sort of joke by Earth-chan? She continued picking up presents, now carrying 8 in total before they had rushed Kurai and the other woman. They focused on the speedster while Panya decided to focus on the doctor. Her weapon came down on the elf's head, or so she had been assuming what would happen. In actuality, he used a sword assembled out of gift wrapped boxes to defend against the attack. Panya's eyes widened in surprise as their blows connected. "Oh my. Usually they're defeated at this point." She readied her sarcophagus for another swing as the two did their battle while the others were busy with the speedster. Panya's stats were fairly close to his own, although they each had gotten some shots in with the other. His sword managed to cut her chest a bit, tearing the shirt she had on. With Panya focused on the dentist elf he and Elara could handle the speedster. The tanky woman wasn't well suited to dealing with them anyway. Not that he was either with how slow he was, but at least he could hamper their speed somewhat. The new skill he acquired would be a huge help as it grew black twisted goat horns from the top of his head. With the fast Hermey startled by Elara's spooky face, Kurai was able to close the gap quite easily without them running away. He launched forward at the elf and grabbed onto their arm once he was in range. The pentacle on the back of his hand glowed with an intense red aura as it was branded into the speedster's flesh and drained their life away. The elf screamed out in pain before slipping from Kurai's grasp and running from the group. “Doing good Panya! How's it going with the weirdo?”De/buffs: Utopia Bandanna (+20% VIT and WIL. "We're chilling, maybe literally..." Elara murmured to herself as Kurai got a good hit in, and Hermeys seemed fit to go lick his wounds elsewhere, or maybe he was just repositioning, waiting for all those debuffs to wear off before racing back to ruin Eel's day further and steal the last letters to Santa she'd found. Speaking of, a few letters seemed to flutter in place from where Hermeys had taken off, a cartoon-esque afterimage forming in the shape of the paper. As Elara took a moment to appreciate the absurdity, another large gift plummeted from the sky and hit her square between the shoulder blades, knocking her flat to the ground.

"Guh-" she sputtered and scrambled, trying to get to her feet before some prick of an elf could come steal her gifts, but the speedster didn't come back. Least, not yet. Whatever, maybe never, hopefully gone forever. Elara felt dizzy. "Friggin'..." She stood and straightened, fully aware the group was still being accosted by former-dentist turned attempted-murderer Hermey. Had to dust this second elf so they could gather these presents in peace.

Elara hefted the bag at her back and put hands in front of her in her version of a battle stance and pressed forward toward the wayward elf. She skirted the sideline of the skirmish and swiped at Hermey, sending an ephemeral skull similar in appearance to the one her face illumed into straight at him. It would fly and bite at Hermey, teeth like they were filed on rocks and bone clamping down and tearing at flesh, but leaving no physical damage behind, just lingering pain and whatever damage it did to the ego. Hermey would feel intense regret and remorse, probably over talking a client into a root canal they hadn't really needed or fitting someone with recycled crowns.

The sound of dentistry and ancient Egyptian history was fast underway! Panya slowly had been trying to overpower the dentist elf as the two had come to blows. The whirring of a dentist drilled clashed against Panya's sarcophagus as the archeologist had been doing her best to hold her own. "Th-That's good! I'm just peachy over here!" She swung her makeshift battering ram to push the elf away again. He eyed the other two currently fighting his friend and would begin to make his way over to them, taking off in a dead sprint. Panya clutched the lid to her coffin and opened it partially as an eerie mist came out, and something inside would begin to stir. A bandage wrapping rolled out and onto the floor for Panya to use, although it wasn't her intent. Instead, she pointed the opened sarcophagus top towards the running elf and... "Oh, no you don't!"Several bandages had stretched out to coil around the dentist elf's legs and midsection, with Panya gripping her weapon. "I'm not letting you..." she slowly swung him back around overhead and sent the elf slamming back away from the ground. "...get away that easy!" If all had gone according to plan, he'd be embedded into the ground and fully incapacitated. But unfortunately, luck wasn't on Panya's side. "H-Huh?!" The elf landed on his two feet and instead of being defeated, grabbed the wrappings and tugged on them from her. Panya held on tight and grunted while standing her ground. The elf had then quickly began to spin her around in a circle above him, clutching onto her weapon for dear life while. "WAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUGH!" With the speedster Hermey running Kurai was about to turn his focus to the dentist who was assaulting his friend. Until he saw a present hit Elara square on the head and burst out laughing. As if Earth-Chan themselves saw this and dealt out instant karma a large box fell upon his head as well. After yelling out in pain he held the top of his head with one hand while the other shook a fist at the sky. “Fuck off and die!”[break][break] As if his luck wasn't bad enough already Kurai now had to deal with a woman carrying an unimaginably heavy sarcophagus flying his way. It was then that Seere decided it was time to step in. A pentacle drawn with silver light appeared under their summoner's feet. The silver silhouette of a knight appeared from it before manifesting into their earthly body and shoving him aside. The demon held their arms out to grab Panya but was crushed by the weight of her weapon his attempts. After the pair was done sliding across the ground they spoke through gritted teeth. “Are you OK, Lady Panya?”[break][break] While Seere was worrying about Panya's well-being, Kurai recovered from the save and was back on his feet. “Damn thing. You won't get away with this!” How dare they use her as a weapon! He shot a blast of black lightning crackling with red energy streaks at the elf. "Oh shit-" Elara ducked and dove face first into the snow to dodge the whirling antique and attached Panya; she hadn't even realized dentists could be so strong. Was it the ether? "No, dentists don't even use ether anymore." Ether was more likely to paralyze someone anyway. Elara stayed in the snow, still improperly dressed for the occasion and shivering, some from adrenaline and some from the aforementioned cold, and she couldn't help but feel very out of her depth here. Hermey didn't even seem to feel bad about his morally bankrupt career as a dentist, let alone attacking some people just trying to collect presents.

"Maybe he processes guilt through violence." *Woosh* Something went sailing past Elara, large enough that it took up most of her peripheral. Hermey had let go and sent his makeshift weapon hurtling through the air. A large part of Eel wanted to just give up, walk away, go back to her vacation. But the larger part wanted to be helpful, to be of service, and what was service without gathering gifts, presumably for kids in a post-apocalypse? She managed to quell her shakey hands and walk towards Hermey, fists raised.

"Alright prick, square up." Elara swung into the air, more of a clawing motion than a punch, too far from Hermey to be a proper hit but releasing that same desiccated face at him, biting into his face and tearing not at flesh but his soul, or sin, or whatever spiritual medium you use to describe the inner self. In turn Hermey turned to meet Elara's terrified gaze, his eyes red and wet with tears. Wait, he actually did feel guilty? "Stop making me feel bad, malpractice insurance exists for a reason! It's not even my fault I forgot to use anesthetic!"

The disaccredited dentist flung his own fist forward, his in a proper ball, but also nowhere close enough to Elara to hit her. Didn't matter though, this elf was strong enough to project a shockwave from the sheer force of his swing, slamming into Eel and sending her ass and back first into a snowdrift, sputtering and coughing. Everything was white, and it took a moment for Elara to wriggle around and realize she wasn't dead, just buried. "Oh, rib probably broken-" she wheezed. Then she stayed there in that drift for a bit more, presents still plodding down into the snow around her. Somewhere out there, Hermeys was still feeling shitty about something.

Panya flailed more and more while she was careening towards Kurai by his lonesome. The blue haired summoner caught wind of the cruise missle that was heading straight for him and used his magic to summon Seere to the scene. The demonic prince managed to wrap his arms around the archeologist, but was crushed beneath her massive weapon. The power behind the swing had caused him to be crushed underneath the weight of her sarcophagus but saved Panya. Her vision was still circling around when Seere asked her if she was alright. "O-Oh...Seere, I didn't know there were 5 of you." she said, five versions of the demon prince visible to her as she laid down and exhaled. The other two had fared well in their fight against the dentist, as Kurai managed to slow him down some with that fancy lightning attack. the other woman even gave him some of the workaround while Panya slowly got back onto her feet with some help by Seere. Panya was lucky that Seere was one of the rather good-natured demons. Instead of getting angry at the woman for almost harming their summoner, they were amused by her comment. Humans could be quite ridiculous at times. She could only hope there were more of the demon to help her on her feet. “Perhaps one day.”[break][break] Eels was a pretty scary woman between the visuals of her class and the way she could cause psychological damage with her attacks. She was even keeping the speedster from approaching them during the fight with the dentist. Once this was over Kurai would have to talk with her. If he was right she could prove to be a good ally. [break][break] Unfortunately, while he was planning for the future Eels took a heavy hit from the elf before he could help protect her. “Let's see how you like it you bastard!” A blast of black energy shot from his hand at the enemy to distract it from the whip coiling around its ankle. With a forceful yank from Kurai, the dentist lost its footing allowing Panya's attack to flatten it on the ground. [break][break] After a few moments, the elf still hadn't moved from the hole and he breathed a sigh of relief. Between breaths he managed to pant out, “I think it's over.” The one with the boots glared at them from afar, but didn't dare to get close. Elara was content to let the fight play out while she rested in the snow bank. She huffed and hacked a bit, but eventually her wheezing breathing became something a bit more close to normal. The rest of the group having teamed up to put down that maleficent Hermey down seemed to help, given that he was still wracked with guilt, and Elara felt her ability take effect for the first time since being apocalypse'd. It wasn't a full recovery, but ever-so-slightly whatever was damaged in her chest knit itself back together just a bit, easing that awful weight that had made it so hard to even consider standing back up. With a groan she hauled herself into an upright position, crouching in the snow still.

"Clothes are soaked now..." She scanned the area, noting that her comrades for the moment seemed not too worse for wear. There was even a new addition to the squad, though Eel had no idea when they'd shown up. Probably when she was seeing stars. Scanning further she was able to spot Hermeys, the petulant mailmin turned villain. He seemed content to wait on the sidelines, though by Elara's count her anathemic visage would be wearing off any moment now. She made a point to muster her best glare, aided by the pain she was still feeling, and flipped him the bird for good measure.

With some effort Elara stood and shook what snow hadn't melted into her clothes from her, a prodigious amount still clinging to her hair. Wordlessly- but with a few groans- she continued what they'd started; gathering presents and the odd letter that fluttered down to the ground. Most of them got a little wet from the snow, but Eel didn't spot too much running ink. Slowly working her way towards the others, picking up what she could. Lot of small parcels around now that they weren't in so much danger of being smashed by a gift mid-fight. Probably just gift cards left.

"Yeah, I think we just grab stuff now." Elara cradled all too many presents, having removed her jacket and using it as a sling to accompany the beach bag on her back. "Wait, does this mean Santa is a real thing now?" Elara considered if there were any merit to writing to the holiday Saint. Given Globe-chan's sense of humor, there probably was a mystical person in a bushy beard handing out gifts on a sleigh.

One smashing attack later and the elf dentist would no longer be much of a bother to them. She looked down at the hole that had been created on account of her attack and gasped audibly. The poor thing likely had his skull crushed in from the force of the attack, not counting whatever the other two's attacks had done to him. "Sorry, but you were trying to attack us!" Panya apologized to the elf before the conversation changed onto more pressing matters. The group now had all of these presents and nobody to turn them into. It was quite the quandry indeed, seeing as how there was only one man who could possible take them at this time of year. She reached down to pick up a half crushed present with the bow remaining only a little stomped underneath somebody's shoe and smiled. Alongside Elara, Panya plucked each one from the ground and then working on the smaller gifts along the ground. Once all of them appeared to be picked up, only envelopes were left, containing a gift most foul. Gift cards...The archeologist's head craned over to Elara once she asked if Santa was real. "What do you mean "if he's real?" she asked with full sincerity. "Of course he's always been real. And he'll most certainly be needing these presents to spread holiday cheer."
