Lowell groaned as he opened and rubbed his eyes. The last time he recalled, he was visiting his old childhood home to see his parents during his summer break from graduate school, and before he went out with them for a family dinner, a strange live stream of someone named Earth-chan suddenly played on his phone and told him and the viewers that they would play the game. Not only that, a strange window that seemed to come out from a video game appeared, telling him to choose a job class of some sort. He was confused at first, yet the names reminded him too much of his love of werewolves. It looked suspicious, yet he couldn't help but play along out of curiosity.

And because of his curiosity, he ended up killing more than a metaphorical cat.

Looking around, he noticed his surroundings were blocked by a concrete maze with a night sky above him. He also noticed he wasn't alone as he saw a young woman with her. She asked several questions the moment she saw him. Questions that he couldn't answer because of the same situation he was in. "Beats me. I just tap on that strange holographic game window and before I knew it, I'm here." He sighed as he scratched the back of his head. By the look of this strange area, he had a bad feeling about it. However, he stopped and raised his left eyebrow when he heard the last question. "Wolf? What wo-"

Just as he could finish his question, Lowell looked down and screamed. Below him was a wolf. But it wasn't a normal wolf as its black fur seemed to move like smoke. Yet it didn't seem hostile to Lowell and the young woman. Rather, it sat there while staring at them with its glowing yellow eyes as if it was waiting for a command from one of them. He would have guessed it might belong to her, but her question said otherwise. He silently patted its head to his surprise, it seemed to love it. "I...think so. I don't know where he came from, but he seemed super friendly." He then started to look around their surroundings. "Anyways, since we have a guide of some sort, we may need to figure out how or why we're here in the first place. Not to mention where are we anyway."

Lowell couldn't help but chuckle at the man's surprising greeting. He wasn't as ham as him, but he might as well respond since his Shade Howler was already howling to the man after that. "If we didn't, then we wouldn't risk ourselves in these waters!"

Again, he was unsure what lies in Ender Island. But that didn't mean he was ready to throw in the towel once they reached their destination. Besides, with a few more people coming onto the waters, he wasn't afraid of the island anymore. "Well, I don't want to waste time before something comes out. How about some introductions first?" Lowell suggested. "Name's Lowell. I'm a bit new, but I'm specialized in summoning shadow-based wolves."

He turned to everyone else, hoping they might also make their introductions. It would be awkward if he was the only one who did so without any prompt from everyone else.

Ender Island. Lowell heard about this island a few days after he left the tutorial. He was surprised how the geography of this strange world was a bit different since he never remembered this island existed back home. He was concerned if he and his wolves would be able to deal with the monsters at his current level. Despite his worries, he might as well try it out and get stronger. Otherwise, he would regret it later.

As he tried to control his sailboat, his Howling Shade backed away upon noticing an island coming closer, seemingly scared at the atmosphere around them. This was strange since his first wolf was never fearful of anything around it. But this gave Lowell an idea of what he would expect in this strange island and his worries were justified. Now if only he has a few more people. With only one Howling Shade by his side, there was no way he could...

Lowell gasped when he heard his wolf howling at him. "Geez, you almost scared me, buddy. What's the matter now?" It pointed to their left and Lowell noticed a dark-skinned man in another boat nearby. This was too big of a coincidence, but he was relieved to see another person on this sea route. But after seeing his shade's reaction to the island, he might as well make contact with the stranger. "Hey!" He called out. "Are you heading to that island as well?"

Those were the descriptions you could describe a werewolf. While many feared its presence, Lowell grew interested in them. Because of his interest, he followed his parents' footsteps by majoring in folklore and mythology. It wasn't much of an obsession as his research was mainly focused on the werewolf's true origins from real mythology and legends. He is also aware of tropes related to the many werewolf movies he watched and tends to compare them during his research into them.

But there were times he dreamed he was a werewolf himself. Well, he didn't really want to be one. It was impossible in real life. He was aware of that fact. Yet there were times he had to roleplay as one during his MMO sessions with his friends. He even drew himself as a werewolf, much to their amusement.

However, the whole reason he got into werewolves was his childhood memory of watching his favorite cartoon starring a friendly wolf. While he was aware most werewolves were not as friendly as a children's show, he wished he could be like that wolf who would protect his loved ones and others from harm.

The Shade Caller is the one who hunts with their pack of shades. Feeling the longing of past hunts and a hunger to chase, you will almost assuredly catch your prey. Every third post, after the first, you make in a thread you summon out a [Howling Shade], a jet black wolf that seems to be made of shadows, up to a maximum of six [You begin each thread with one Howling Shade]. These wolves share your [PWR], [SPD], but only receive 25% of your [WIL] as [VIT] and [DEF]. They can be as far as your [WIL] / 3 meters before they simply disappear into nothing. [break][break]
Once per post you can command the wolves summoned to make an attack at [PWR] -1.[break][break]
Additionally once per post, you can swap places with a summoned [Shade Howler], or have it apparate from a different one’s shadow regardless of where it was before.[break][break]

While transformed you can release a howl towards the sky and call forth your pack at an accelerated pace, gaining an additional [Howling Shade] immediately if you have less then the maximum. Pocket Sand Three times per thread you can toss a handful of this sand towards one target, and if their SPD rank is lower than yours they become [blind] for one post. Anything that is [blind] cannot use attacks, abilities, effects, or items that require them to see and choose a target. Anything that already cannot see cannot become [blind]. After use it takes five posts for your pocket to refill with enough sand to be useful again. [break][break]
Guidebook This book has a very clearly hand made look to it. Written on the front is the title, "Waddle-Dee Dee's Beginner’s Guide to the System!" There’s also an illustration of a Waddle Dee version of Dee Dee waving, along with a word bubble overhead that says, "Let's Learn Together!" On the back cover are the words "Don't Panic!" written in big friendly letters. Inside is a description of the system interface and the system itself, including functions like the messaging system, shop, guilds, area map, forum access, and a host of other things that any beginner might need to know. It’s all explained without jargon and as clearly as possible, making it easy to understand. Towards the back was a glossary of terms that the owner of the book might overhear other people use. In the very back was a bestiary describing enemies and simple tactics to beat them, accompanied by hand made drawings, including some depicting Dee Dee and others battling the beasts. [break][break]
Utopian Bandanna This simple bandanna comes in any combination of the Guild's blue and gold color scheme you choose, and adjusts in size to fit its owner. Once worn in whatever manner you prefer, it will remain secure until you choose to remove it. Wearing this gives you a permanent +20% buff to VIT and WIL, as well as resistance to Slashing, Piercing, Bludgeoning, and Fire damage equal to your VIT + WIL. For some reason, pets and animals of all types seem to love playing with this thing, and those belonging to Guild members can often be spotted wearing their own mundane versions. [break][break]
Guild Ration Probably the best meal you've ever had as a ration, nice. While not in combat you can spend one post consuming this item to recover 10% of your VIT, leaving behind only an accessory packet and gusseted pouch. You may only bring one Guild Ration into any mission/dungeon/etc. with item limitations, but it does not count against any item limits. [break][break]
Oversized Santa Coat This red and white jacket is obviously meant for someone much larger than yourself. Still, it's comfortable and quite warm, and can absorb your DEF +1 rank of damage before being too tattered to provide this protection. After a two post cooldown the coat will be ready to protect you again, but it only repairs itself once per thread. Additionally, you reduce all cold damage by -1 rank, and chilled or freezing status effects end one post earlier. When equipped you can also move without penalty in hindering terrain caused by ice or snow. [break][break]
Glasses of Seeing Stylish, and sleek, these pair of glasses are to die for! While wearing these glasses, you can manually adjust the frame and turn the lenses into binoculars, giving you the vision of a hawk! See things far away as though they were close, though be careful not to move while using these. The world might just spin and make you tumble![break][break]
Token of Friendship A simple bronze coin depicting a handshake on one side and a smiling Earth-chan on the other. This is a crafting material for the forge.[break][break]

A Man with Pure in Heart
On his first impression, Lowell seems to be a werewolf otaku if a topic related to it comes up. However, he is more than a geek with a one-track mind. He's a kind young man who is willing to help out everyone without a price. He isn't the type to brag about his achievements too much and prefers to act than talk to get the job done. While he's not very stern, he often gives brutal critique to others, hoping they may learn from their mistakes or simply be aware of themselves. Though it may take a while for him to realize that not everyone can accept his brutal honesty.[break][break]
Lowell possesses a logical mind combined with his werewolf knowledge along with MMOs, webtoons, and general tropes that allows him to outsmart his opponents. He also adapts to his new surroundings very easily and tends to learn more first before jumping into action. When it comes to physicality, he possesses a willpower that lets him endure pain for a few hours and resists the temptations given to him.[break][break]
But if there are any weaknesses to him, it's that he's too stubborn to quit. He sometimes stops thinking when danger comes to him or anyone close and rushes in without having second thoughts. His recklessness tends to go worse when facing monsters and criminals whom he cannot forgive. He is also self-aware of himself hurting others by accident sometimes, so he tries to go alone to mitigate any casualties.[break][break]
And the Autumn Moon is Bright
Lowell would have been a normal guy from New York who grew up with normal fascinations with toys and wrestling. However, living with his historian parents gave him a strange interest in a certain folklore.[break][break]
As a child, he became interested in wolves after watching a cartoon involving a friendly wolf. In high school, his fascination grew even more when he watched a werewolf horror movie with his friends. Wanting to know more about the true origins of this legend, he decided to follow his parents' footsteps and research on mythologies related to werewolves.[break][break]
While he was taking a break from his history major in college, he took an interest in MMORPGs with one of his classmates. This not only attracted a few college friends but gave him life outside of his werewolf obsession. He also took up judo and karate lessons thanks to one of his friends' recommendations to keep up with his physical health. He didn't forget about his parents as he visited them from college during breaks to share his thesis and research with each other not only on werewolves but other mythologies such as Egyptian and Norse.[break][break]
However, his life began to change when he was visiting his parents during a summer break when a certain Earth-like entity appeared...
