Hikari knew that baiting the boars will be difficult for the woman, but she wanted her to experience it as well. Her swords were ready, if there were any issues, but she was confident that Lottie could and would do her part. She was a tenacious one. [break][break] The silence could cut through glass. Hikari watched as Lottie made her move. She stayed back, letting Kairi fly up into the air to better see the surroundings. The Angelic Serpent was her eyes and ears. Kairi would tell her if they were coming. [break][break] It didn't take long when the rumbling started. Kairi hissed and made a little roaring sound, signaling Hikari to get ready. And she did. She gripped Murakumo and Habakiri in both hands as she waited for Lottie. When she was in sight, Hikari pounced upwards. Kairi offered her own body as a platform, which Hikari used to get even higher. [break][break] She had timed it perfectly. Once she saw all of the boars fall into the pit, Hikari raised her swords and spoke, "Mikazuki." Immediately, Kenmyoren was unsheathed. It didn't take long for her to float down just high enough for her largest sword to slash in a wide arc, slicing through each and every boar in the now-cramped hole. The rush boars grew quiet, her sword now dripping in blood. [break][break] "Well, that went well enough." She smiled at Lottie as she landed beside the woman. As light as a feather. "They shouldn't be bothering the local villages anymore. And, if we're lucky, we might be able to get some extra rewards for selling them the meat." That was unlikely, of course, but Hikari will try. Hikari nodded at Dee Dee's comment. She wasn't surprised that Dee Dee had such utility. It was in her nature to be the helpful one, after all. Oh, Hikari can be helpful too. She had proven that to herself time and time again. But she wasn't one to go out of her way, unlike Dee Dee.

She took in their surroundings, before starting their way through. This was going to be a bit more of a challenge, it seems. However, Hikari was sure they would manage. The previous maze was full of tricks. The question was, would this one have many tricks too? It was possible. Or perhaps this one had more deadly traps?

Their first turn brought them to the usual fork, but in this case, there were three paths to choose. She stood there for a moment, before holding up her finger as she tested the airflow. it took a few moments before she felt a soft breeze through the middle.

"Down centre, Dee Dee." She motioned for the girl to follow as she led the path. Immediately, Hikari unsheathed both of her swords as they started their way down. "I'm afraid the traps here will be a bit more cruel. Or perhaps more whimsical..." There was no telling with Earth-chan and the System, after all.

Hikari sliced through the air and felt the small shockwave her swords created. Murakumo and Habakiri were new to her, tested and proven, but she knew there was something more about the swords. An untapped potential within them. Perhaps she needed to utilize the other abilities of the swords more. They were paired for a reason, after all. Two swords as one item.

She raised her swords again, ready to engage in another deadly dance before a notification popped up in front of her. A mission? She had not thought she would encounter one, but it seems there was one that was ongoing in these parts. And from the looks of it, it was to be a simple one.

"Alright, come, Kairi. We have a mission, it seems." Hikari accepted the mission prompt, and was quickly notified of her partner's message. "And it seems we also have a proactive teammate." She nodded, before letting the Angelic Serpent coil around her, as though it were a fur shawl.

It took Hikari little time to get to the zone itself, and from what she could see, this was the general area of where they would find the coffee.

A few moments later, Hikari heard someone approaching. She looked back and waved a hello.

She didn't look strong, but when using her swords, she was nearly unparalleled. Nearly. There was always room for growth, after all. I'm sure you will get to where you want to be sooner than you think. Keep your chin up, and let everything be a learning experience." Hikari walked through the shanty town, unimpressed. The place looked like one she would never visit in her spare time, though she knew most towns looked like this these days. The days of beautiful towns and wonderful hills are gone. Of course, there were still places that had those. The lucky few.
Her focus of attention, however, was the merchant.
She knew from experience that the merchant carried items of great power. Or, at least, items that were useful. She held out her hand to shake the man's own, before requesting, "I would like to purchase one Demonic chests and two Holy Mystery chests, please and thank you. With my Luck Potions still going, of course." She bowed slightly to the gentleman.

She wasn't someone who would do manual labour, not on her life. No, they needed a better plan, or at the very least, an easier way to make a hole. Speaking of... [break][break] "Look over there." Hikari pointed to a lone tree just a ways past the tree line. It looked old and rotten. As though it had seen too many storms unsheltered by its fellow trees. "That's our hole." She marched her way toward the tree, before waving for Lottie to stand back. [break][break] Unsheathing Murakumo and Habakiri, she struck a pose as she readied herself. "This'll hurt you more than it hurts me." Hikari swung both blades blunt edge forward. It slammed into the tree, uprooting and lifting it up from its position, before crashing far away from where it once stood. Hikari nodded to herself, before sheathing her blades. With a flick of her fan, Daitsuren unsheathed itself and went to work. [break][break] Her second longest sword, Daitsuren, started carving around the foundation of the tree, hollowing it out further and creating a much larger hole. The tree's foundation had been deep, due to its age, but was also already dying. As her sword did the work, she looked towards Lottie and smiled, "I understand your frustration. I get hot-blooded myself when it comes to combat. Perhaps one day we can stand side-by-side against an onslaught of enemies." The thought made Hikari smile, hungrily perhaps? [break] |

"Well, there will probably be at least five, if not closer to ten, rush boars. They're tough, fast, but very clumsy. I can go in and deal with them, but I think it might be good to set up a trap for them, and then deal with the stragglers. What do you think?" [break][break] Perhaps it wasn't a good idea to ask about the riot police bit. Hikari knew some people had a history, and she was not one to pry. Yet. "Since this is a C-Rank mission, each of those boars will likely deal the same rank damage. I'm unsure if it's a good idea for you to go and tank all of them at once." Hikari paused a moment, eyes scanning the surroundings. "We can excavate a hole and have them fall through. You can deal with the stragglers while I take care of those who fell in." Hikari was about to follow Hana when the howl caught her attention. Did they have a dog? Perhaps. She remembered their father wanting more security, and perhaps he had acquired guard dogs prior to the Light? She wasn't sure, and so became immediately alert. When the howl sounded again, and a roar echoed through the front door, she was immediately on guard.

The first thing she saw was large three-headed dog. Well, it was a dog, but not quite. Not when all of it looked to be made of machine with neon lights outlining its features. It was well-crafted, and intimidating. A combination which spelled trouble for them.

"Get back, Kurai." She would announce as she used one of her abilities: Absolute Terror. The shield materialized in front of them, and took the brunt of the freezing breathe it has spewed. The shield shimmered, before lashing out to deal one instance of debuff to the dog. The second instance would come as Hikari flicked her wrist, and Daitsuren shot forward and slammed itself into the right leg of the creature.

She turned to her brother and nodded, "I'll create an opening, you jump in to deal as much damage as you can." With that, she pounced forward, zipping through the icy sheet, and delivering a strike to the giant dog's torso, causing one of its head to try to bite her, only for it to miss as Hikari dodged deftly to the side with her faster speed.

"Try this one for size." She closed her fist, and a spectral claw reached forward and slashed through the giant three-headed dog's exterior, causing damage as it howled in pain. She saw Hana had simultaneously done damage. Surprisingly, the giant three-headed dog was still standing, and growing even more menacing with each strike it took.

Hikari nodded in response, already planning what she would do to the manour. "I'm hoping to turn it into a proper home and base. But, that's after we get it fixed up, of course." It was an uphill battle, that one. "I wanted to provide an environment where Sylvia and her cat summons might feel more familiar with. I'm sure they're as excited as me to see the place." And have it redone. She wasn't going to keep the things her father had laid hands on, or had a hand in designing. It was her last revenge.

Her attention was quickly turned to Hana's summon. Just as Hana had mentioned, the creature was shy at first. The complexity of these being always astounded Hikari. Even Kairi, who was often so cuddly and attached to her, was ferocious when faced with challenges. Specifically when those challenges involved creatures that threatened Hikari.

"Hello Suiu." Hikari waved, before letting Kairi manifest. The Angelic Serpent coiled around her body, before leaning forward as though to say hi to Suiu. "Yes, we do have a servant's wing, which should make housing Sylvia and her fellow summons very easy." She turned to Hana and nodded. "I'm glad we found another person to join us. Hopefully we get to do something about this...soon." She waved her hand around Neo-Tokyo, before smiling. She knew it was her guild master's goal, and just as Hana has helped her, she would help the woman in kind with her goals.

The Mountain's Heart Dungeon Part Two: Inner Maze

Hikari stepped through to the next portion of the dungeon. She had been excited to see what awaited them, and could only marvel at what she saw. If she thought that the previous maze was intriguing, this maze made her feel astounded. The place looked colossal, and intimidating. It radiated power, and mystery. Hikari paused as she took the high ceilings, the high walls of the maze, and the suspended lights which glowed the place up. Literally.

"It seems we stepped through to the real maze, Dee Dee." She said out loud, before looking towards her companion. "I'm sure we'll get through just fine, though just in case, we better have our escape ropes ready, hm?" Hikari opened her inventory before looking at what she brought. Nodding to herself, and keeping he escape rope handy, she unsheathed her swords.

The maze was going to be much harder, she knew, but she was ready for the challenge.

Deep down, she knew she was trying to prove something to herself, and perhaps to her father. Hikari was going to rise out of his shadow, and be the heir she never thought she could be. And then, she would raze her father's legacy and build her own. She was not a piece of prize to be given to the highest bidder, nor a bargaining chip. No, she was something more now, and she was happy for it.

Earth-chan decided to play a trick on me this year for Halloween." She let her hand rest on one of her swords, before turning her attention to the forest. [break][break] "I hope you're ready. I've been seeing the trees shake from just beyond this clearing. I think the boars are a bit more on the edge today for some reason." Hikari narrowed her eyes at the forest. "I'm hoping no villager tried to cross them, or that we find no remnants of an ill-informed supply caravan through this way." [break][break] She started to walk towards the forest, before looking back. "My name is Hikari. And this Angelic Serpent is Kairi." Kairi looked towards their companion, eyeing them for a second, before settling on her master's shoulder once more. "I hope we work well together, Miss Lottie." She gave the woman a small bow. [break][break] Hikari's steps would be light, fleet-footed, and soundless. She wanted their approach, or at least hers, to be a surprise for the boars. "Have you done this before, Miss Lottie? It was serene and idyllic, a place where she couldn't think of retiring at all. Yet, there was a beauty here that drew her in. Perhaps it was all of the missions and the dungeon she had recently completed. The mess and mayhem she keeps encountering are draining her. A lower-level mission would do her good. At least, that was her thought process. [break][break] In truth, she was here for the fun of it. A little exercise to get herself going once more. She held her two swords, Murakumo and Habakiri to her side, while her three swords floated around her. It felt like it was just yesterday when her steel had first tasted blood. Now, Daitsuren and Kenmyoren thirsted for it. Even Murakumo and Habakiri were humming in anticipation. [break][break] "Soon." She whispered, before raising her hand, and letting Kairi manifest and be summoned. The Angelic Serpent crooned and settled on her shoulders, wrapped as though it were a fur shawl. She petted her summon, "I think you can be useful today, my sweet." Hikari stroked Kairi chin, before looking up. [break][break] It seems her companion for the mission was here. She had been told by the System that another person had accepted the mission alongside her. It was always nice to meet new people, of course. Hikari settled on a smile as the person approached. Hikari smiled at Sylvia and Sakura, before offering them a response. "Neo-Tokyo is even busier now than it once was. And the lights...well, it wasn't neon prior, I promise you that." She looked towards the city and its gleam. It was both enticing and dangerous at the same time. A trap for any unsuspecting wanderer who thought they were safe there. There was a reason that even Hikari kept herself in this guild space. There was a chance that a monster she could not handle might spawn on top of her. It was just what Earth-chan would do to her unsuspecting victims.

She turned to Hana, and chuckled softly, "Well, once we've fully recovered the place, I'm sure that Miss Sylvia and Sakura would feel more at home there with me." The manor was almost ready, perhaps a few more repairs, and cleaning up the place would make it habitable once more. And, of course, making sure that there were no more enemies within and around the vicinity to worry about.

The woman watched in careful anticipation as Sylvia had not mentioned that Sakura was her summon. In fact, she wanted to see how Sylvia would react to being recruited. Hopefully, the woman would say yes. It would be nice to add a new face to their guild, continue to build and grow their numbers, and eventually retake Neo-Tokyo as their own. Hikari was ready to carve out a piece of her most beloved and most despised city for her own. And can anyone blame her?

She stopped a moment, thinking of the right words to use, "The best way to deal with a prank like this is to show them that it does not bother you at all." And while it did bother her, she was not one to show Earth-chan, or the System, that she cared much for their silly games. "And the people who teased must just be very jealous of you. You are beautiful Hana." And she meant it.
