She supposed that fighting them was counted as observing them. After all, she would get to know just how well they fought, their strengths, and most importantly, their weakness. She drew Murakumo, and nodded towards Akane. She would provide the frontline for now, while Akane did her thing. The woman was an assassin, and so Hikari assumed she would need some sort of cover to deal the most damage.

With Murakumo in hand, she started sprinting. However, she made little to no sound. Her items made it so, and she felt the rush of adrenaline as she got closer and closer. She made sure to bank towards the demon's blindside, before unsheathing her sword fully and striking out.

Murakumo struck the closest one to her, the demon having been so consumed with its argument. Or was it a discussion? She turned just in time to block the slash that came from the other demon. The shock value of her attack was not as effective as she expected, though she can feel her aura slowly encroaching on these two.

Hikari grinned, before leaping backwards. She would watch Akane do her thing, before she rushed in once more. What the demon spat at her as she retreated, however, was gold. "Are you here to stop the ritual? Well you're too late! The stone is almost set!"

Looking behind the demons, Hikari could finally see a floating stone with a crown embedded onto it. The crowned-stone floated in the middle of a ritual circle. These two must be its guardians.

"It is good to see you alive." She nodded towards the old man, though she was unsure whether he should be on this track. Racing was something that was incredibly difficult, and the chances of crashing are sky-high. Hikari felt that this was especially so with this track, and what they will be facing. However, she kept herself quiet about those thoughts. After all, the old man decided to do this, and so should know the risks.

Hikari turned her attention towards the lights. They began flashing consecutively, meaning that the race was about to begin. She smiled, and revved her engine. She could feel her own stats influencing her vehicle, as though it were linked to her own system. That was, at least, a godsend. It meant that she could go fast. Very fast.

"I plan on winning this, though if you need help, you only need to ask." Hikari once more nodded to the old man. She would not see someone die if she can help it. Well, at least those that she knew. "I can't promise much, but I'll do my best depending ont he situation." She would not sacrifice her win, if it came to that, but she would keep an eye out for the old man.

Red, orange, green! They were off! Hikari immediately punched through a gap, and took the lead. Their first challenge? A fiery desert.

Once more, she was here in this motor city. Hikari was not one to obsess over cars, though she did enjoy her family's collection of supercars. However, what she had now was less than a super car. Well, it drove like one, but it certainly did not have the same style and design.

The mission she encountered seemed interested, though. She looked at the message, and nodded to herself. Quickly maneuvering her mini cooper towards the starting zone, she pressed the pedal to give herself a small boost. The cooper took it in stride, especially since this vehicle seemed to work with her own stats.

Pulling ahead of the rest of the folks gathering, Hikari took a spot closer to the starting line. She maneuvered her way past the more amateurish drivers, having learned from the best of the best. After all, having a small fleet of supercars meant that she needed to be able to drive them safely ad responsibly. As responsibly as a wealthy heiress could, at least. As she put herself into gear, she turned and found herself staring at a familiar face once more. How welcome this was, she just was not sure just yet.

Hikari watched with fascination as the entire interaction went down. She was sure that the man would not stand up to his wife. And yet, he did. She was slightly proud of him. The fact that he had been able to do that showed his mettle, if not a bit too late. His daughter's life had already been ruined, after all.

Sighing, Hikari turned her attention to the system reward response. She nodded to herself, and was about to head out towards the portal when the old man spoke. She looked towards him, and gave him a short curt bow.

"And you take care of yourself out there. I hope we see each other once again in fair weather." Alive, and breathing. That was the goal. Because there was so much to live for, and death was so final.

What they found was interesting, and what they saw made Hikari smirk just a little. It seems that there was more to this than meets the eye. And for once in her life, she was watching a family drama that was worse than her own. She felt bad for the woman and wanted to help her. And yet, this was a matter of the afterlife, something that did not concern her at all. To that effect, it seems that the system had other plans.

The mission was simple enough, if not tedious. Hikari internally sighed, though her face became more determined. The women were irking her now, and she was feeling very bad for the woman they had been helping. The mothers reminded her of her own father, controlling, horrid, and rude. She would banish them in a heartbeat, and so she would do this extra quest.

She held out Murakumo, and started to make her way through the room. The first thing that caught her eye was the portrait. Specifically, the ones that the women came out of.

Sitting at the bottom of the portrait was a gem, small but very significant. Unlike everything in this room, it was pristine, as though dust cannot touch it. With a flourish, Hikari unsheathed Murakumo, and stabbed the jewel. It cracked, and exploded into tiny pieces that rained down around her. She heard the scream before she felt the vibrations. It seems she struck a chord. "A piece of jewel, possibly a conduit. Quick!" She turned to Rojin, "Check the other portraits!" Hikari went towards the man's before realizing there was another. She stabbed it, and just like the other one, it exploded. Two down, "One for each of them!" Two more to go.

There is always more to do, unfortunately. But then again, more to do means that this mission was going to get more interesting. She was up for more interesting missions. Life has been a bit dull recently, unfortunately.

Using the side of the bridge as a platform, she parkoured herself up, landing softly while gliding. Hikari nodded at Rojin for his compliment, if one could call it that. "Perhaps this might be the final destination. Though..." She stared into the portal, and shook her head. Something was very ominous about that tower.

Instead of up, they were going down. A ring. Unbinding. Unto Death. Death won't be waiting for them in the clear blue sky. No, death lurked in the shadows, ready to gobble up every single living thing in this universe. It was the cycle, unending, and binding. She held her sword, and followed down.

The path was winding, and Hikari could feel the mustiness of the air around them. And yet, they still kept going. Until they didn't. The spirit went through a wooden door, arched, and old. Hikari stopped just in front of it, and turned to Rojin. "Ready whenever you are." She held her sword, and was ready to slowly go through at Rojin's ascent.

Instead of responding to the old man, she held out her hand to brush he grime away from the words etched onto the wall. She wanted to make sure that she read it all right. There was a sticky feel to the wall itself, and it made Hikari shudder. She would wipe her hand on a handkerchief she kept close, before tossing the now-grimy kerchief away.

"A Pillar of Love, Unending. Even unto death, Unbinding." She sent the message through the system, with the now-riddle complete. "Perhaps it has something to do with the pillars of the bridge." Hikari suggested, remembering that at the head of the bridge, there were pillars that stood on either side. Bridges, after all, were symbolic to a crossing. A crossing to where? Perhaps to the other side?

Hikari made her way around the area, gently kneeling towards the running river. It was slower than usual, but the banks around suggested a faster current during a different day, a different season. She held out her hand, and paused just before it touched the water's surface. Would she find something in there?

"Can you ask the spirit if the word "pillar" means anything to her?" Hikari called up to the old man. A Pillar of Love, Unending. That was what she had read. The pillar portion must be important, and perhaps it would lead them to the missing item.

Hikari shrugged, "It's common practice for me to make sure that there aren't any ambushes lying in wait for me." She emphasized the "me" part. After all, she had to think of herself first, before others. She wasn't a martyr, after all. No, self-preservation was her first thought. She was of no use to anyone if she was dead, after all. "Places like these make it easy for
the system to take advantage of our being careless." Hikari would rather not be a statistic.

She drowned out whatever the old man was saying, learning from her previous experience that this was the better strategy. If she were to try and argue with the old man, she would just end up losing her cool once more. And she wasn't one to lose her cool easily. Instead, Hikari floated down slowly, taking care to land with grace, before staring at a carving of some sorts.

"I was hoping to scout ahead. My items make it easy for me to do so." She responded to the old man off-handedly, taking a peek at what lay before her. The bridge itself was steady enough, and her lithe form left no impression on it whatsoever. She listened to the old man's words, as well as waited for the woman. After all, the spirit was an integral part of this mission. But more important was their safety. It would do well for them not to be surprised at all.

After the old man's spiel, she looked down towards where he was gazing. The bridge anchors were usual hangouts for people trying to get away from prying eyes. They were also places were monsters lay in wait to attack. After all, the shaded covering and its out-of-the-way environment made it the best hiding place.

"It's either this bridge, or there." She nodded towards the bridge anchors. "We would not have been sent here if we were to go farther away. Nor are there any other major landmarks around." Hikari paused, before shrugging. "I can head down first if you'd like. As I've said before, my skill set makes me the best for scouting." She looked towards the old man with a questioning gaze.

At the very least, the old man did not make any more comments about her. She wasn't sure just how much she could take, though her patience has been known to be legendary. Truthfully, she did not think ill of the old man. His name being "old man" to begin with. Rather, she just did not enjoy the unmitigated comments that the old man made. He certainly had no filter, and that was something that will get him in trouble sooner or later.

Nevertheless, here they were. After the old man collected his own thoughts, he approached the ghost. Hikari followed suit and listened intently to the request of the ghost. She seemed to be missing her ring, and was wrought without it. As suggested by the old man, the only way they could do this was to go through the portal. She stepped up then, smiling. "We shall retrieve your ring." Hikari nodded, before following Rojin towards the portal.

When she stepped through, she found herself in a forest. Directly in front of them was a bridge, and below it was a steadily following stream. It was not a river, but it was not a creek which dried up in the summer. The steady flow was evidence enough of that. "Perhaps...it fell over the bridge?" She peered towards the bridge and sighed, "And of course, something is perhaps awaiting us?" Hikari grabbed her sword, and slowly made her way over, keeping herself on her toes, while unsheathing Murakumo steadily to parry any attack that might come her way. "Let's take it steadily."

As they neared a portal, Hikari smiled. She saw their quarry, and was about to make a move, before an idea popped up in her head. "I believe we are also tasked with observing some of the species we may find. I believe spirits count as one? Or at least, ghosts do." She watched as the spirit floated, as though not affected by gravity. Now she wondered whether they manifested physically, so as to be able to be touched, or would they need to be attacked magically for full effectiveness. Of course, her mind immediately turned towards combat.

Making mental notes of what she observed, she continued, "If you've gathered enough notes, we can go ahead and talk to them." She opened up her system menu and filed away quick notes. She then looked towards Rojin, hoping he would finish soon. Then they can get this mission started in earnest.

The last one had been interesting, though lacking in the combat she had been hoping to have. But then again, she should be grateful. No combat meant no danger. Hikari guessed that a lot of the things must be tied to one's class, and one of which is the types of rewards that are more curated for one's class. Certainly, her own class did not revolve around having summons, which meant that she never really got anything that was for any type of summoned creatures. But perhaps once she hatches the egg, she just might be able to gain more items for it. Truthfully, she was hoping for it.

"Perhaps once the system sees that I have my own summon, it might start providing me with items that are geared towards it." She smiled brightly, though she knew that it was never good to trust the system. After all, it destroyed the world, and made it in its own image. An image that was ruthless and without care nor concern for its inhabitants.

"And of course! If you ever find any items that you might not need, I just might be interested in taking it off your hands!" Hikari nodded, though she wasn't sure what to expect. What kind of items were these? She knew Dee Dee had used them before, but she never was really interested in them. "Do you have examples, perhaps?" She would ask, face turning slightly in question.

A forest walk. That was always a good way to spend the day. Well, for the most part. There was the fact that Hikari had been on high alert since leaving the elves, and also the fact that she had been mulling over the information they had gotten over and over in her mind. It seems the elves were at pseudo-war with another species, not seemingly an all-out war, but certainly, they were certainly at odds. This was important information.

"Oh my." She stopped and looked at what they had uncovered. A tree, giant and seemingly magical. She turned to face the tablet which had caught the eye of his group. And paused to read it slowly:[break][break]
I am always hungry and will die if not fed, but whatever I touch will soon turn red. What am I?[break][break]
She smiled, "What am I indeed? How quaint of a riddle this one is." Hikari turned her attention back towards the tree, before unsheathing her sword. Taking a stray rock from the forest floor, she struck Shotsuren, creating sparks that shot towards the tree. "Fire."

The giant tree did not go ablaze, but instead, it glowed! And surrounding it, as though it was carved with magic, were runes which now glowed and stirred.

"I suppose..." She turned to her companions, "This must be a sign of some sort." Hikari turned back, holding her hand out as though to touch the now-glowing tree.
