Mission Name: The Lost Spirit's Requiem
Mission Rank: C Rank
Mission Description: An ancient spirit has been spotted wandering aimlessly between realms, trapped in a state of unrest. This spirit possesses vital knowledge that could unlock the secrets of the Devil’s Triangle portals. Your mission is to locate this lost spirit and guide it through its unresolved past and emotional turmoil. By assisting the spirit in finding closure, the team can gain access to the spirit's knowledge about the portals and how they function. The journey will involve venturing slightly into the astral realm, facing trials and obstacles connected to the spirit's past, and finally, conducting a ritual to help the spirit find peace. In return, the spirit will provide invaluable information about the portals.
Mission Rewards: "Half Forge Key" (Devil’s Triangle), Completing this mission will give players the “[Astral] Tag” Skill and other potential awards.

Well Here he was, he had read about events, and he needed more memories to burn for his class, many would think that would be horrifying, but to Rojin.. it really wasn't much to different then how he came into the world, no memories, maybe scraps of things, but other then that nothing much, so here he was doing one of these missions and as he accepted and made his way to the location needed, he got the most annoying of messages as he got to the island in question as a blue screen popped up for him "Partymember found" He grimaced as he read this but shook his head as he walked on, continuing on as he waved away the screen "Bah Blast this system and it's doing what it wants at times.. I don't need some damn child making things a problem of me... and here I thought that maybe this will be a quite one but not with the noisy people I have seen wandering around.." he grumbled as he continued walking. Hikari took her time, walking along the path which should lead her to the start of the mission. Truth be told, she had not been sure if she should take another mission here. The last one had been interesting, though lacking in the combat she had been hoping to have. But then again, she should be grateful. No combat meant no danger. Which means she wasn't in danger of dying.

She sighed, hand resting on Murakumo on her waist as she continued her path. In her other hand was her new fan, one she purchased from her fellow guild mate, Nubia. It strengthened her further, affecting her PWR stat in conjunction with Murakumo. This was an important factor for her when it came to choosing items to use. The fact that this item was also a fan made it even more thematic for Hikari.

Turning a small corner, she found herself staring at a familiar face. She sighed internally, though showed no other emotion outside save for her small smile. She bowed, "Hello again, Mister Rojin. I hope we might finish this mission without any incident." She turned her attention towards their destination. "Shall we?"

Walking along Rojin was at least pleased that the person that was meant to be in his party wasn't showing up yet so he could enjoy the silence while they were not there, the longer the better he figured, at least it meant he wouldn't have to deal with anyone till they arrive.... god damn it they arrived... wait they seemed familiar "Hmm.. I think I have seen you before... matters little I will eventually forget... Though..." he looked at her, and to her eyes, as she spoke and he grimaced "I remember you now..... Spare the false words... we are well aware of how we feel about each other, and you already know I do not take kindly to false courtesy" he said to her as he walked along with her. As they walked Rojin looked over the mission info and gave an annoyed sigh "Well lets get this over with..." he said as they walked to an area near a portal and that's where they seen it a Spirit hovering by a portal, seemingly weeping and Rojin Rolled his eyes a moment they had a lot to do apparently, and he looked to Hikari "Well.. might as well use that polite manner of talking for something and go ask them what's wrong eh?" he said. As they neared a portal, Hikari smiled. She saw their quarry, and was about to make a move, before an idea popped up in her head. "I believe we are also tasked with observing some of the species we may find. I believe spirits count as one? Or at least, ghosts do." She watched as the spirit floated, as though not affected by gravity. Now she wondered whether they manifested physically, so as to be able to be touched, or would they need to be attacked magically for full effectiveness. Of course, her mind immediately turned towards combat.

Making mental notes of what she observed, she continued, "If you've gathered enough notes, we can go ahead and talk to them." She opened up her system menu and filed away quick notes. She then looked towards Rojin, hoping he would finish soon. Then they can get this mission started in earnest.

Rojin remembered the event and at least it was something that wasn't to bothersome, so he started to take some notes using the system, the sprit seemed to be transparent somewhat but it seemed to react to the way it was sitting but he had no clue if that was from the sprit or that it could interact ether way it wasn't to much his concern, so once he took some notes he looked over to Hikari "well we will have a lot of things to deal with annoyingly..." he muttered as he walked forward to greet the ghost. "Hey you there... what are you crying about" he said in a gruff tone as he walked up to the ghost. The Ghost looked up the ghost of a woman "My.. my ring... I can't find my ring... It was given to me by my fiancé will I don't want to go anywhere if I don't have my ring...But I don't know where it is! I think I might have dropped it somewhere!" the woman wailed. Rojin rolled his eyes and looked to the portal "From what I understand this portal will take us where we need to go... though I don't know first hand..." he grumbled as he looked to Hikari "Lets get this done with" he said as he headed for the portal "Will get the thing..." he muttered to the ghost. At the very least, the old man did not make any more comments about her. She wasn't sure just how much she could take, though her patience has been known to be legendary. Truthfully, she did not think ill of the old man. His name being "old man" to begin with. Rather, she just did not enjoy the unmitigated comments that the old man made. He certainly had no filter, and that was something that will get him in trouble sooner or later.

Nevertheless, here they were. After the old man collected his own thoughts, he approached the ghost. Hikari followed suit and listened intently to the request of the ghost. She seemed to be missing her ring, and was wrought without it. As suggested by the old man, the only way they could do this was to go through the portal. She stepped up then, smiling. "We shall retrieve your ring." Hikari nodded, before following Rojin towards the portal.

When she stepped through, she found herself in a forest. Directly in front of them was a bridge, and below it was a steadily following stream. It was not a river, but it was not a creek which dried up in the summer. The steady flow was evidence enough of that. "Perhaps...it fell over the bridge?" She peered towards the bridge and sighed, "And of course, something is perhaps awaiting us?" Hikari grabbed her sword, and slowly made her way over, keeping herself on her toes, while unsheathing Murakumo steadily to parry any attack that might come her way. "Let's take it steadily."

Rojin walked through the portal, the Woman following along and as they stepped out he seen the bridge and the drop, then looked to HIkari for a moment as she talked and she started to head to the Bridge when Rojin rolled his eyes "I often wonder how you young people have even managed to survive all this... you are so ready to go into the unknown that you don't even stop to think and look at what information you may have... open that window thing and look at the job we got and you will see we are not going anywhere yet... We are missing someone" he said with a slightly annoyed town. It was then that the spirit of the woman seemingly appeared out of no where and floated forward "This place... I remember this place... We came here often... but.. why.. I don't remember.. only that his place was important..." the ghost spoke as it looked around, stopping before going near the bridge and slowly sinking to sit on a large rock "Oh... if only I could remember". Rojin looked to the ghost a grimace on his face then he shook his head and walked over to Hikari "We are not here to find the right... not yet I think... this spirit is lost.. missing something.. has regrets and forgot things, I think we are to guide it and have it remember where it's ring is and to give it closure.. not actually find the ring itself.. so.. now that we have an Idea what we are looking for... we have to find it and remind this spirit I suppose..." he looked to Hikari. "Seems we have to find whatever it is that may hint to the reason this place was important to her and her fiance... the thing she forgot about why.. now then.. that could be near anything so lets get looking... " he said as he walked to the bridge and looked down "Look for places two people could go without to much trouble.. she doesn't seem to be the adventurous type.." he muttered to her as she looked over the bridge anchors. "I was hoping to scout ahead. My items make it easy for me to do so." She responded to the old man off-handedly, taking a peek at what lay before her. The bridge itself was steady enough, and her lithe form left no impression on it whatsoever. She listened to the old man's words, as well as waited for the woman. After all, the spirit was an integral part of this mission. But more important was their safety. It would do well for them not to be surprised at all.

After the old man's spiel, she looked down towards where he was gazing. The bridge anchors were usual hangouts for people trying to get away from prying eyes. They were also places were monsters lay in wait to attack. After all, the shaded covering and its out-of-the-way environment made it the best hiding place.

"It's either this bridge, or there." She nodded towards the bridge anchors. "We would not have been sent here if we were to go farther away. Nor are there any other major landmarks around." Hikari paused, before shrugging. "I can head down first if you'd like. As I've said before, my skill set makes me the best for scouting." She looked towards the old man with a questioning gaze.

Rojin looked down at the anchor area then to Hikari as she spoke "There is no point scouting ahead if we are already at out destination, whatever it is we are meant to be looking for is around here somewhere.. given another situation maybe that would be helpful but at the moment your better served to wait and see what we need to do rather then trapeze on ahead without even realizing what we are doing.. still though" he looked down to the anchor area once more, not much he could see from up here and going down would be a bother for him, he could do it granted but just as he was thinking that Hikari spoke up once more and he sighed a moment before looking back up at her as she finished talking. "That's what I was trying to tell you.. but I guess you won't listen unless it's you coming up with these observations eh?" he quipped "Young people... Beh..."finally he started to walk out onto the bridge to look it over as he waved off Hikari "Yeah go check down there, your younger and I am smart enough to know that it would likely take me longer to go down there and check it then you... I'll check here..." he muttered a bit after that complaining about quite a many things as he started to look over the bridge, the floor panels, the railings, anything that could have something like a carving or some trinket.. anything that might be a hint as to what made this place special for the spirit and her fiancée. Hikari shrugged, "It's common practice for me to make sure that there aren't any ambushes lying in wait for me." She emphasized the "me" part. After all, she had to think of herself first, before others. She wasn't a martyr, after all. No, self-preservation was her first thought. She was of no use to anyone if she was dead, after all. "Places like these make it easy for
the system to take advantage of our being careless." Hikari would rather not be a statistic.

She drowned out whatever the old man was saying, learning from her previous experience that this was the better strategy. If she were to try and argue with the old man, she would just end up losing her cool once more. And she wasn't one to lose her cool easily. Instead, Hikari floated down slowly, taking care to land with grace, before staring at a carving of some sorts.

Rojin didn't find much on the bridge, he really didn't expect to, if they were young they likely would try to be all secretive like it some how made things better or something, He grumbled as he checked though as annoying as this all was it was better to do the job properly then not do it at all, even if it annoyed the living hell out of him to do so. He continued checking and after a bit he heard Hikari called up from the anchors and he looked down over the edge of the bridge "Could just say you found something first.... maybe say the whole message... for all we know one word isn't enough to get anything". He grumbled but did so anyway since the Woman clearly wasn't one to even bother doing things the right way the first time, and so he walked over to the crying ghost "Hey... the word pillar mean anything to you?" he asked fully expecting the answer he got. "What?....no... why would it?" the ghost looked up from it's crying very confused but hey bright side? It stopped that annoying crying. "figured..." Rojin shook his head and walked back over to the bridge and shouted down "Hey how about instead of giving me a word without context you give me the full message if there is one? I doubt you just found the word pillar like written down there... or was that all that came to mind looking at the Anchor and you just decided to take a shot in the dark?" he shook his head once more, if there was a message context was important, a single word would mean nothing to anyone, then again if there wasn't a message then this Hikari person was wasting his time with her inane guess work rather then clue searching "In stead of just taking shots in the dark how about you look for an actual clue eh?" he called down once more as he started to look at the trees in tha area next for any clues. Instead of responding to the old man, she held out her hand to brush he grime away from the words etched onto the wall. She wanted to make sure that she read it all right. There was a sticky feel to the wall itself, and it made Hikari shudder. She would wipe her hand on a handkerchief she kept close, before tossing the now-grimy kerchief away.

"A Pillar of Love, Unending. Even unto death, Unbinding." She sent the message through the system, with the now-riddle complete. "Perhaps it has something to do with the pillars of the bridge." Hikari suggested, remembering that at the head of the bridge, there were pillars that stood on either side. Bridges, after all, were symbolic to a crossing. A crossing to where? Perhaps to the other side?

Hikari made her way around the area, gently kneeling towards the running river. It was slower than usual, but the banks around suggested a faster current during a different day, a different season. She held out her hand, and paused just before it touched the water's surface. Would she find something in there?

The old man continued to look at the bridge and the trees around it, still looking for some sign or clue, then the woman called up with more of what was there and he nodded a bit "Ya see now... NOW there is context for someone to latch on to if it's important or not... next time don't stop at one word and get all the info first then pass it along for questions.. then we wouldn't be doing all this back and forth... As for the Pillars of the bridge I was checking the posts and the like before, checked the trees around to nothing there.. the pillars at the ends had nothing ether... whatever it means it's likely something they would know.. if it's even from her Fiancé.." he called down as he walked back over to the woman. "Okay so got the whole thing this time.. lousy kid didn't even look hard enough to get it all before telling me to ask.. anyway.. does the message 'A pillar of love, Unending. Even unto Death, unbinding' mean anything to you?" he asked using the whole message this time. The female ghost sat there thinking it over, some recognition on her face but she seemed to be mulling it over in her mind and she sat there a moment still thinking then she looked up "Wait... yes... YES I know.. this.." she stood up and walked to the bridge and then looked off the side, the view on the side of the bridge clearing as if a hazy memory was clearing up, Both Rojin and Hikari could both see much much farther now, as if any obstacles had ether moved out of the way or simply ceased to exist and there they could see a large tower in the distance as another portal opened up "Yes.. there.. it.. it should be there..." the ghost said as she rushed to the portal and stepped through. Rojin shook his head and looked down to Hikari "See.. full message far better then a single word.. Regardless of the mess up there on that.. I am not so old that I can't give credit for work done" he nodded to Hikari "Decent work... would have taken longer if I had to climb my old bones down there and then back up again.. now lets go and see what else needs doing... that message hasn't popped up that lets us know we are done so clearly there is more to do..." and with that he made his way to the portal. on the other side, was the base of the large tower, the door opened as they could see the spirit going down some stairs rather then up them and Rojin would raise an eyebrow "Strange... but suppose we must follow..." he said as he started to go down after the spirit. Using the side of the bridge as a platform, she parkoured herself up, landing softly while gliding. Hikari nodded at Rojin for his compliment, if one could call it that. "Perhaps this might be the final destination. Though..." She stared into the portal, and shook her head. Something was very ominous about that tower.

Instead of up, they were going down. A ring. Unbinding. Unto Death. Death won't be waiting for them in the clear blue sky. No, death lurked in the shadows, ready to gobble up every single living thing in this universe. It was the cycle, unending, and binding. She held her sword, and followed down.

The path was winding, and Hikari could feel the mustiness of the air around them. And yet, they still kept going. Until they didn't. The spirit went through a wooden door, arched, and old. Hikari stopped just in front of it, and turned to Rojin. "Ready whenever you are." She held her sword, and was ready to slowly go through at Rojin's ascent.

Looking to the Door Rojin looked it over a moment, it seemed slightly out of place, everything else here was rough, the brick the floor, but this door looked well made, varnished, made smooth and even slightly polished, though dusty with age, "Interesting... well lets get this over with.." he said as he opened the door into what seemed to be the interior of a mausoleum. The strangest feature of it though was the fact that it was furnished as if to have living occupants, though everything was covered in a fine layer or dust, it would be comfortable otherwise, but rather then a large bed they could see it was instead two tombs set side by side, and rather then a headboard it was a tombstone with names carved in it, and a ring inset into the stone above both graves. "My ring... I found it" the spirit exclaimed as she rushed to the tombs, but then several Portraits in the room started to glow with a malevolent light before from each different spirits came out, making four in total two male two female two of them having a resemblance to the spirit of the woman they had been helping, and one spoke. "Get away from there... Death Do us part... and your both dead now... leave that decrepit spirit you have a new lease an afterlife to get to... and while you may have disobeyed me in life I Will make sure you do so in your afterlife!" the woman yelled at her as she grabbed the spirit of her daughter by the arm and started to pull her away. The one that was clearly her father looking away from the sight clearly ashamed... of his wife or his daughter though was uncertain. The other two likely parents of the fiancé moved down "They were never even married in the first place.. and yet look.. he used MY money to build this place... hiding it under the tower that was meant to be a monument for us.. and he does THIS instead... for once I would have to agree with this woman... YOU don't belong here..." the second woman spoke as she too grabbed the younger spirit by the other arm. However rather then looking away in shame the second husband looked at Rojin and Hikari then to the two older woman spirits trying to pull the younger one away and out of the room before he moved over Rojin and HIkari. "Well.. Seems my wife and the miss there are in agreement for once on something.. and poor Raylond seems about as henpecked even in death as we was in life.. as for me.. that old wind bag said it herself death do us part and I for one can't stand to see my son's Fiancé being treated like this.. Fatherhood doesn't end after death after all.. now.. I know you can't Touch us.. but... I know my wife.. well I guess Ex-now.. she likely put SOMETHING in this room to bind us to this place JUST to do this... and I wouldn't put it past Greta to do the same.. look for those things and break them please.. if not for me and poor Raylond over there then for my son and his Fiancé" the ghost nodded as he then went to the ghost of Raylond "Get up man you heard the wind bag your not married to her anymore you both died.. but stand up for your damn daughter at least!" he smacked the other ghost upside the head before moving over and trying to pull his ex-wife's spirit off the spirit of the girl. that's when the Mission screen popped up and updated for Hikari and Rojin Mission updateobjective: Ms.Wurst and Ms.Bren have both hidden two items in the Mausoleum to bind their souls and those of their husbands to this place to keep the two children apart even in death... find these two items and break them or remove them from the mausoleum Before they drag the poor girl away and seal her spirit out of the Mausoleum forever. Looking it over Rojin's face creased into a smile "Well well.. we could just leave this as is..." he looked over to the womans spirit struggling against the two older womans spirits "After all they are both dead now.. holding on to something like that is foolish.." he then look to Hikari then back to the mission. "But we have a job to do.. besides.. as much as I hate love stories.. I hate pushy people that try to control everything even more.. and seeing them freak out over having failed what is a very long and thought out plan? that just sounds much more enjoyable doesn't it?" the cruel smile on the old man's face grew as he looked around "Get to finding those things.. and you better not slack off, you find it you smash it got it? I don't care if it's a priceless artifact.. or some pretty trinket... or even something we could possibly use later.. I don't want those bitter old Bitches plan working and I don't wanna chance not getting it out of here in time... so break the dam thing once you found it..." he pointed to the portraits and they had crests under them. "People like them.. they would be arrogant enough to want to put their crest on it somewhere.. so look for the ones that have the old women's crests on them... that's the best lead we have to Identify them... unless you got a better Idea that doesn't require us just smashing everything.. I say that's a last resort but I doubt we could get through everything here before they drag her out of here..." he then headed off in one direction and started searching. Hikari [/b] |
