It was over in a flash of light and blood. Emir had been able to slice through the wolves without any issue. Nikolas has a cold chill run down his spine watching the man work. His mind drifted back to that notice he got earlier, he realized then that the ability he was copying wasn’t from the Night Walker class like his other abilities. Had Emir unlocked a sub-class? “Emir, that skill of yours. What was that exactly? I’ve never seen you have anything like that.” He asked with a curious tone.

He walked over to Emir and grabbed his arm to inspect and see if there were any cuts or damages that he needed to mend. “You seem to be getting better and better at surviving in this world. Maybe you were destined for all this to happen.” He said as he continued to poke and prod Emir. “Let’s head back to the base camp and let them know about us getting things cleared up here. I’m sure there are others with classes more suited for structure building than either of us.”

Nikolas really did not have an opinion either way. He was interested to see how Mr. Enigma handled the situation. He crossed his arms and waited. Once the choice was made and reason given, Nikolas couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. He wouldn’t have noticed the marks along the walls and ground if it wasn’t pointed out to him. Maybe, Mr. Enigma was a seasoned adventurer? “Sounds like a good plan to me.”

The two entered that chamber and kept walking. While Nikolas’ footsteps echoed no other sound could be heard. Perhaps Mr. Enigma’s class was an assassin based one? He did mention invisibility in his kit. “So, is this your first time down here? I came once. Briefly. With a merchant friend but business pulled me away and I haven’t been able to get in contact with him in a bit.” He tried to keep his voice somewhat low but also had to talk. Silence wasn’t a Nikolas thing. He was bubbly and chatty. Even in this dark and depressing cave he was still anxious with dead air.

Back again. He really was testing his luck. What would he be able to score today? He meanderd through the wares and even picked up the large gold egg. He was close to buying it when a small crumbled piece of paper caught his eye. Upon looking it appeared to be a piece of a treasure map. “Oh?” He placed the egg back down and held the paper. “Well, treasure seems moe fun than carrying an egg around.” He was walking towards the merchant when a Skill card with a treasure chest floating on it caught his other eye. “Well, treasure is in my future I guess.” He took the card and map piece to the merchant. “I’ll be taking these.”

"I'm not so sure I've done that." Nikolas gave a pause for a small laugh. "You are the one that knew of me before I even knew you were behind me. I'm sure you've got an ace up your sleeve. Or two." The pair walked over to the cave. Nikolas was still a bit wary of going in there with a stranger but he didn’t have too many other options. He would just need to be mindful of not only the monsters but the human that was down there with him. “I’ll let you go first since you are the key to us getting in.” He waited for Enigma to bypass the lock screen zone and would follow close by.

Thankfully, he was wearing his robe. A small orb of light emerged and floated between the two men. The rocky cavern would twist and warp but eventually came to two points. Nikolas looked over to the man. “Well, which way are you feeling?”

Nikolas wasn’t expecting such a response. This guy did his homework. There were millions of people in the world and somehow he knew about a small shop and it’s owner in Unison Central. Very odd and mysterious. Nikolas debating internally while listening to the man’s abilities. “Butterflies? That’s an interesting theme. I’m sure you throw people off with that one.” he said with an air of humor and kindness in his voice. Sliding from his rocky seat, he met the man and took a cigarette from the case before lighting it with a small orb of light he produced from his finger tip.

He took a drag before an expression of euphoria washed over him. His posture laxed as he lifted his head and let out a stream of smoke. “Awful habit, smoking. It got me through my undergrad though. That and cheap cherry vodka with spirite.” he smiled while lowering the cigarette. “Well, I know there’s a risk in giving such information so I’ll thank you for letting me know so much about you on our first encounter. I’ll blame it on the flattery you just gave me but I guess I can give you some insight to my class.” taking another quick drag, Nikolas stomped out the cigarette around its halfway point.

“I think if I indulged anymore I’d have to go find a pack of my own.” he smiled hoping the man didn’t take offense to a waste of a cigarette. “So first things first. My class is a Fragment. I am more of a supportive role as you’ll soon find out. I utilize light as you might have noticed a moment ago. I wouldn’t call it divine in nature but it does come with some substantial buffs and healing abilities. Basic light manipulation is the nuts and bolts though. I also have a sub-class. My alchemy class. It lets me operate my shop. Not much in terms of raw combat outside of my ability to manipulate the four basic elements. Ah, avatar the last air bender kinda feels if that makes sense. I’m not a push over but if I’m honest, I’m not a brave champion. Don’t expect me to rush head first into a fight. I’ve got my fair share of tools too.” he left the explanation at that. He didn’t want to discuss his copy powers. Letting him know about the fragment was enough in Nikolas’ opinion. It was a rare thing and one he didn’t spread openly. Would the man accept this answer was yet to be seen.

He was lost in thought, too busy trying to get the shading on the cavern's entrance just right. He had spent the last few moments creating a rough draft of the cave entrance. While he was satisfied with the overall image, something about the shadows just was not working for him. He was about to give up in frustration and swap to a different picture when the sound of a man's voice behind him caused the hairs on the back of his neck to rise. Turning around, Nikolas saw a single man standing there. He was wearing a queer mask and seemed to be staring directly at Nikolas. He closed his tome and turned around, still sitting but now facing his visitor.

"You know who I am? That's a bit ominous thing to say, Mr. Enigma." Nikolas eyed him carefully. Killing other humans to take their items and gear was not an uncommon practice. Murder was common before everybody had superpowers now people could kill without even needing to exert more than an eyebrow raise. Based on his proposal, it would be ideal for the two of them to work together. Nikolas could not get into the dungeon alone and he doubted anybody could get too deep without a party. He was confident in his own abilities to slip in and out if need be but who's to say there wasn't a dragon down there waiting to eat them? He had no reason to not accept the offer other than the feeling that this man was hiding something. Wearing a mask upon first meeting somebody tend to make those red flags go off in Nikolas' head.

He saw the screening invite appear before him and opted to accept. Worst-case scenario, Nikolas could pass as a monster and leave this guy on his own. "Sure, I can agree to those terms. I'm not really trying to buy a key and since you know who I am you must know I have a shop. I need decent wares to keep customers coming in. I'm sure a dungeon would be full of some pretty cool things. Don't you agree? Well, if we're going to party up, I guess we should have a basic understanding of each other's strengths and weaknesses?" He posed the question to the mysterious man in reality, to get an understanding of who he was.

Nikolas stood there waiting for Emir’s response but he wasn’t expecting to be tackled with a tight hug. Nikolas embraced the man and a smile covered his face. “Good! I’m glad. I wasn’t sure with that sinister aura it was giving off it would fit your cheerful nature.” As Nikolas was picked up and spun a round he let out a bout of laughter. “Emir! What are you doing?” Once he was firmly back on the ground he looked into his friend’s eyes for a moment, not even realizing his face was turning redder than the forge’s flames.

“Ah, of course! I’d love to go. I just need to grab my coat.” Nikolas shuffled to grab the rain jacket draped over the kitchen chair. As he touched it, the fabric wiggled and wormed for a moment as the jacket morphed into that of a simple hoodie. Nikolas slipped it over top of his shirt. Noticing his hair was now a frizzy mess, he frantically tried to brush it with his fingers so that it would fall normally. He didn’t want to look like he had just been electrocuted in front of Emir. One last look in the hallway mirror and Nikolas’ attention returned to his guest. “Where are you taking me? Hopefully, somewhere with some drinks and maybe a bite to eat.” He gave a wink.

The Mountain's Heart. The first confirmed dungeon in the world. Nikolas had been here briefly before with Ollie but he was pulled away before they could really get to exploring. A shame, Ollie was a decent companion, and the two classes paired well with each other. He had come back here to do a little bit of exploring. While he knew he wasn’t the strongest in terms of fighting, he was a slippery bitch and could take a hit. He was wearing a simple white hoodie that was his robe in disguise. He opted not to bring his shoes with him today but grabbed his compact mirror. While the shoes did give him a nice boost to his speed, the mirror offered counter capabilities. It really saved him on that boat to Enders, it might come in handy here. Of course, his Tome and X-Calibur were both resting on his hip. He had found a crafter who made a nifty little holder for his tome. It made carrying it around much easier. The last major thing he had with him was a new wallet he had picked up. While it offered no bonus in a fight, it did say that it helped find more points and Nikolas always could use some points.

He stood outside the mouth of a cavern in the middle of the Hollow Hills. He had totally forgotten that neither he nor Ollie had the right requirements to enter the cavern before. Ollie had to use some sort of key. An error screen bared him for going further. He crossed his arms and pouted a bit. “Well shoot. I came all this way for nothing.” He found a shaded spot nearby to sit and collect his thoughts. Maybe he could DM Emir and get him to come and bring a key. He didn’t want to bother his friend though, so that made him a bit hesitant to call. Their day in Unison the other week still lingered on his mind. Earth-chan really knew what he was doing pairing the two of them up in their tutorial. He sighed and pulled out his tome. Drawing always helped him gather thoughts. Even if he couldn’t find a solution, perhaps some group might be coming to explore the dungeon and he could tag along.

"If you don't have the points for the whole experience, I'm sure we can look to working something out. I'm also open to trading items too. I find great use in nearly everything out there in the world. You see that ice cube over there? It's shaped like Ice Cube the Rapper and has some powerful debuffs. Simply delightful isn't it?" He walked towards where the door to the stalk room would have been if he had extra wares. "If you're ready, let's head on down to the Forge. But I have to say this every time. Just trade me the items and let me handle the smith. She doesn't talk and I don't think she likes the fact that I have a key to her house at all times. She still crafts me up some good gear though." He had already turned the knob on the door and opened it up to reveal the Forge's hallway. He waited for Summer to enter before he followed suit. Once they were at the Forge, he would take the items from Summer and give them to the smith.

The sound of the small bell above the door prompted Nikolas to look up from his sketchbook. A rather beautiful woman was poking her head in. "Summer? You're not supposed to be here for another six days or so." A dad joke to lighten the mood. Nikolas closed his tome and stood up. He was very casual with just a simple white t-shirt and acid wash jeans on. There was a small cardigan resting on the chair behind him but he found that he smudged too often when wearing it. He waved the girl to come on in while giving her a large grin. "Sorry, poor tastes in jokes. Come on in."

Nikolas moved from behind the counter and walked over to the girl. He took notice of her jacket and gave it a curious look. Something about it seemed familiar in some sense. "I'm Nikolas and welcome to my shop. You mentioned a need to upgrade your gear. Well, I've got some decent items laying about that might help you out, or if you've got the points we could always go to the Forge for a quick crafting expedition."

[attr="class","nik2reescroll"] Nikolas flew right to the center of the playground and motioned with his arm. The firey whip swung, smashing into the playground and plenty of slime that had made the place their home. As the whip swung, it would catch various items on fire. The slimes were thrown into a state of chaos. While they were never known for their intelligence, Nikolas thought they might have some sense to them. As the fire spread, Nikolas saw that the other parties were closing in on the playground as well. The slimes were all being corralled to the flames. Sizzling sounds and what might have been slime screams could be heard. Nikolas kept lashing out with his whip. Finally, the slimes seemed to all fade away. While some of their ooze still covered the whole park, it didn't seem like there were any monsters left. [break][break] Still on top of the playground, Nikolas floated down to the tallest platform. The plastic had begun to melt and parts of it were on fire but his shield of light kept that at bay for him. Nikolas was trying to find the cause for the monsters. A rather large black backpack could be seen on the ground beneath the tower. Using the Light Shoes, Nikolas was able to quickly grab the bag and be back in the air. Upon further inspection the bag appeared to be an item [break][break] Bag of Slime

A bag crafted by [////]. The bag is able to hold up to 50 low-ranking slime monsters! Don't forget to zip it up or they will leak out. [break][break] "Somebody crafted this and placed it here in the park? But why?" Nikolas didn't like this. What if nobody noticed all the slimes and they were able to hurt somebody? He would go back to the main hunting party and show them the bag. One of the men offered to take it to some dealer he knew. Might be able to figure out who produced it at least. Nikolas was hesitant to give it over but ended up doing so for the greater good. With that, the mission was done and Nikolas was given a nice little bit of points. [break] |

"You two stick close to each other. Start to make your way back to the barrier. I'll make sure none of the slimes over here head in that direction." As he finished a bright light pierced the dark park. Tentecalas of light poured out and started to berate the slime that was moving from the playground. How so many were able to get into the Safe Zone was a bit scary. Did somebody plant them here?

Nikolas summoned both daggers again and threw them at a pair of slimes that were lurking in the tree above him. Thank goodness in this new world he was given some decent abilities. If this was the old Nikolas, he would have turned tail and run by now. The light beams were thinning that heard of slime but there were plenty left. Every now and then, a blast of a different colored light could be seen elsewhere in the park. The other hunters were doing their job it seemed. "Okay, let's see what we're dealing with." He floated up in the air to get a better view of the park. What he saw, was not all entirely shocking but it wasn't pleasing at all to see either. There seemed to be several groups forming to fight off clusters of slime. From what he could tell, most seemed like they would be fine as is. The playground did seem to be the main source of them though. A bright flame roared to light next to Nikolas as his arm stretched out. A long whip of flames hung beneath him in the air.

The man with the barrier opened a small portion and the group was able to quickly file in before their entrance was sealed. "Well, guess we are not going anywhere." Nik said with a bit of a cheerful tone. While he was not nervous, it seemed that the others gathered were. He didn't know their levels or classes but seeing how so few of them had actual gear it was obvious that they were all lower level. He would have to keep an eye on them all. Thank goodness he had kept his ring on. It would come in handy if he needed to up his healing output. As he walked into the park's forest there were no clear signs that this was a slime nest. It was not until he reached the playground that he noticed a large cluster or ooze starting to cover trees and bushes. Even the trashcan nearby seemed to be dripping with fresh ooze. A scream from one of the people that entered prompted Nikolas to instinctively summon two daggers of light in his hand.

Before he could make a move, from the trash can a slime emerged. Quickly, Nikolas threw the dagger made from his core while holding tight to Soul Judge. The dagger slid right into the slime's body and quickly reduced it to nothing more than a cluster of pixels. Once that threat was done, he moved toward were the scream could be heard. Two of the other hunters were cornered. One was being partially consumed by a slime, the other was trying to ward them off with a hand ignited with flames. Nikolas threw the Soul Judge at the slime devouring the person and watched it die. Two slimes dead without even a drop of ooze on his jacket.

Nikolas flipped the sign of his shop to closed for the moment. He locked the door and walked down the street. Night was starting to set and the lights of fires and other oddities started to dot the buildings of the city. It was rather dead tonight. Perhaps it was due to being a cooler spring evening that many didn't want to be out in the cold. Lucky for Nik, his robe was able to morph into a warm winter jacket.

As he turned the street corner, there was a small group of people standing there all discussing something. Nearby, another man stood at the entrance to a nearby park. He seemed to be placing some kind of barrier. Not a normal sight to see but nothing too concerning. As Nikolas walked passed them, one of the men spoke up and called out to him. Nikolas, walked towards the group and began to engage them in conversation. It seemed, that the man making the barrier was keeping a large number of slime in the park at bay. It seems that the slimes were able to enter the Safe Zone through some underground means but that's not the issue. The issue is that the slime has multiplied and continues to do so. Soon enough, they're going to be too dangerous to just keep at bay with a barrier. The people gathered here were all here to aid in the clearing of the nest. Nikolas didn't see any issue in helping. His level was far above the average slime and the mission prompt that was given by the world was only an E-rank. Surely, he could manage.
