[break][break] Xibalba wasn’t exactly into sports. Other than fighting, which often included firing guns, swinging his sword and outright drawing the blood of his enemies (and sometimes his allies) the man had not known how to do any other physical activity. Something like volleyball was such a first world sport, and for most of his life, he had been living in third-world countries. That was like… two worlds away. [break][break] He sighed and scratched the back of his head. How did he get into this mess exactly? [break][break] Partially through no fault of his own but the system. The world ran on missions now to get money but his fighting spirit would fall deeper and deeper since the system had deemed him so low, he was still level 1. In terms of rank, he wasn’t even a foot soldier and it annoyed him to have to start from the beginning despite his age. Why couldn’t he be level 45 when he had lived in the world for that long? [break][break] His frown, on a face like him, could’ve killed the crowd that had gathered. [break][break] The midday sun was high in the sky and no clouds meant that he’d get the full intensity of the afternoon heat. So he had taken off his entire attire and stood in the middle of the beach, on a makeshift, yet standard volleyball court, with a net in the middle. The mission was to defeat some gym brosーwhatever that meant for Xibalba, he had no clueー in a volleyball fight, because there was no other sport that could be played on the sand. “ This is all kinds of messed up, but whatever. A man never backs down from a fight.” [break][break] One thing he noticed though was the insufferable amount of ladies that had decided to corral them. He did finally see what gym bro meant as four, muscle bound men parted the sea of women and entered the court on the opposite side. Xibalba’s eyebrows twitched in disgust as they made different poses, bulking all kinds of muscle, sending the woman in the crowd into a frenzy of shrills and screams. [break][break] “ Nope. Not doing that. Stop it, you hormone crazed bitches.” Xibalba grumbled under his breath.[break][break] One of the muscle bound brutes stopped posing and noticed the glare that Xibalba was throwing at them. “ You’re supposed to be our next opponent? HA!” He slapped his musclebound thigh and pointed at Xibalba. “ Aren’t you supposed to be at home for the aged? You want to challenge us by yourself, bro?" [break][break] Xibalba sighed. He was definitely old and he could sit down from all this bullshit. But a mission was a mission and hitting with the ball hard enough to send whatever demon had come to possess them into hell would cause the mission to fail. [break][break] “ Yeup. But I’m not alone, bro.” He said with a smirk on his face, though he hoped he hadn’t forgotten to send out invites to other people to join the mission. This system bullshit sucked like hell. This beach was a clear sign that the end was upon this world. Unnatural hues and malignant skies coated the land and sent a thread of deep seated fear through Dantalion's soul. He closed his eyes for a moment and reminded himself that once the sinners were purged the new world would be far more beautiful than this; pure and clean. He let out a soft breath and opened his eyes, finding himself still seated on a boardwalk bench staring at golden sands and strangely coloured waters.

His presence was hidden thanks to the magical armour that he wore, the hood pulled up to shade his eyes. The nature of the armour kept him cool in the oppressive summer heat which he thanked the divines for. So it was when a crowd started to gather that Dantalion stood up and slid through the people, invisible, like an undersea predator hunting through currents and reefs. He had heard tell of people seemingly being possessed and needing to be defeated in games to free the mortal vessel, tales like that were old and usually the sign of trickster demons. It would definitely help his position to rid himself of them, that much was true.

Shortly after that thought he made it to the front of the crowd, seeing someone facing off against four possessed and getting insulted. With a soft sigh he accepted the invite to the mission and sent a party invite to the singular individual before stepping forwards and letting his [Hidden] status drop, revealing him seemingly stepping out of thin air. "Fear the lone predator for the pack is never far behind." He intoned sharply. His blonde hair was pulled away from a sharp face and glacier-blue eyes and he lifted one arm to adjust the gauntlet of his armour. Pitch-black metal with royal blue cloth peeking out, the armour had long almost blade-like edges and clawed fingertips and sat easily on his frame.

"Name's Dantalion, let's show these fools the error of their ways." He told his companion with a wicked grin, rolling out his neck and shoulders. He wouldn't summon a weapon just yet, he wanted to see what the situation would be like before he bothered, after all he couldn't exactly kill the beach-bros, the possession would just pass on.

Sunny skies, hazy air, highly saturated colors? Yep, it was time to go back to the burning sand kingdom that was Nadir Beach. Morgana had been a little bit busy doing anything but standing in the middle of the way and fawning over such useless things like the male form. Beach bimbos stood attached to some of the muscle bound gym bros that most definitely weren't using them at all. [break][break]
Such things were far beyond the gothic witch. She just enjoyed her colorful alcoholic drink with a sippy straw. The perfect little beach break as the aspiring spawn of darkness sat in a lounge chair away from all that mess, even when invited for the mission. [break][break]
"Nah, not interested." [break][break]
Morgana raised a hand to gently tap away the notification. Black fingernails danced around the notification screen and went back to enjoying her drink. Then it came again, then again. Once more. Every single time Morgana hit decline, two more windows popped up. This cartoon routine went on for a couple of seconds before groaning. [break][break]
"Piss off, you oversized testicle. I'm on break." [break][break]
Morgana leaned back in her chair only for Earth-chan to teleport her directly above Xibalba's side of the volleyball field and come crashing down in a blur of spilled alcohol and sand. Morgana had reserved some of the drink still, though most of it had splashed across her face, much to the amusement of the crowd. She groaned and stood back up, the pale goth looking back over to the leader of the bunch.[break][break]
She wasn't entirely muscular like the rest of the party, but the goth did have the ability to hove rin midair, used solely to sit down in midair while growling in a silent rage. [break][break]

After hearing that a new area had opened, Kurai thought he was in for a nice relaxing day at the beach. Of course, Earth-Chan had other plans. No place is truly peaceful in this new world after all. He was napping on a beach chair next to the ocean under the shade of his umbrella when he heard the commotion of the crowd. Shortly after a mission popped up in front of him he groaned before pulling his sunglasses down to read what it was. It sounded terrible. Just as he was reaching to decline the mission the menagerie of demons began to speak all at once. The cacophony of voices hurt his head, but the message was clear: they wanted him to accept the mission. Kurai let out a low growl and gave himself a light slap on the side of the head. “Alright already! Shut up will you?! I'll take care of it!” After pressing his finger against the accept button he pulled himself off his recliner. His head must have hurt worse than he thought because he could have sworn he saw little gray aliens blending in with the crowd surrounding the volleyball court. After pushing his way through the crowd the young man eyed his new companions before sending a party invite to them. Two of them seemed prepared for what awaited them. Maybe overly so since one of them was dressed in full armor. How is he not unbearably hot dressed like that? Kurai was only in a pair of blue swim trunks and could feel the sun bearing down on his pale body through the sunscreen. He waved at the group as he walked onto the field. “Yo! You're in luck! Looks like you've got me on your side!” Even though Kurai agreed with the goth woman's complaining he felt he should at least put on a brave face if he had to work with these people. They all seemed capable of handling themselves but as he looked over to his enemies, the gym bros decided to become birds all of a sudden, with their cackling and laughing drowning the cheering of the crowd. [break][break] “ Bro!” One of the said muscle bound men said to the others.[break][break] “ Bro!” The other responded. [break][break] “ Brooo!!” It's like they started their own competition. [break][break] The old man sighed. “ Welcome all to this fucked up volleyball tournament.”[break][break] While he did not share their sentiment, each member of the team was unique in their own way. The one that stood out the most was the gothic chic who, by some unholy means, was floating a few feet just above the air. She would be quite useful in blocking and hitting the ball. The man who introduced himself as Dalton wore heavy armor and while Xibalba was fully on board with the armor, since it looked cool as hell, he also knew that armor and heat did not go very well together and that he must be cooking inside.[break][break] The last person to arrive had been Kurai, a lanky figure who suggested they served first, and Xibalba wondered if any of them had the slightest idea about how to play the game, let alone the sport. He had watched the sports channels a couple of times but nothing had really caught his interest except for maybe a few of them involving guns and fights. There were very few times that he watched volleyball, and most of it he remembered having a good night sleep.[break][break] “ It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out.” He growled with excitement. [break][break] Suddenly, a tall chair rose from the ground, made of sand and wood, materializing an umpire that was also made from sand. It had stars for eyes, shells for teeth and had the body of a middle aged man, beer belly and all. It released a whistle like a roar from a hole in its face. “ Players at the ready! Get into position! Non-gym bros serve first!”[break][break] “ Well, that answers who ‘serves’ first. Though I’m not sure what that means…”[break][break] The umpire released another whistle like tone. “ Definition of Serving: Put the ball in play! Simply hit the ball on the other side to begin the match.” Xibalba blinked a few times. It was nice for the system to provide minimal support for those who didn’t know how to play. “ All right then. I’ll serve…” [break][break] A black volleyball materialized in his hands the moment Xibalba manifested the intent of making the first move. He threw the ball up and down to test its realness, and he could feel the weight each it dropped. Now, he wasn’t exactly sure how heavy they should be but this definitely weighed more than usual. Once he got into position on the right corner of the volleyball field, he threw the ball up in the air and raising his left hand, he hit it as hard as he could, ensuring that the ball would arc and fly straight for the opposition. A large man who seemed like a warrior type, a young gothic woman who could seemingly float in midair and a young man that gave off a deeply strange energy as far Dantalion's senses were concerned. He pursed his lips for a moment before shaking himself out as the umpire arrived and the match was about to begin. He hadn't played volleyball since he was a kid with some of his not-quite siblings at the beach. Though that was a very long time ago now and in a different world. He hoped his family had been sent to paradise already, only he needed to be here for this, the sins of a dying world would be his to bear.

"I'll focus on offense." Tali spoke firmly, crouching slightly and getting ready to move, his eyes latched onto the ball that the older man was holding. Then the ball went up in a slow arc and Dantalion burst forwards, a spraying of sand blasting out behind his boots as he moved and then leaped upwards, slapping his hand down onto the ball and spiking it straight towards the opponents. The beachbros were only barely ready for it and three of them went diving in order to deflect the ball causing it to come back in a slow arc towards Tali's side of the field.

Tali hit the ground and rolled straight back onto his feet, back down in a crouch and waiting for another set up to begin another spike or an opportunity to offer it up to someone else. He wasn't sure of everyone else's stats but his power was pretty reasonable and his speed was... Okay enough to help in this situation.

Ugh, the muscle bound hunks were busy putting on a display of manhood and testosterone that was eno8gh to make a bodybuilder convention jealous. She crossed her arms at the display, leaning back while hovering above the air and doing a flip before laying down in mid air, as if she were on a bed. "Are we in a locker room with a ruler or on a volleyball court? Hurry up, you future chicken nuggets." SHe groaned, through began to wonder if there was any good food around the docks. The area around them, was sectioned off and the red outline meant that nobody was leaving anytime soon. [break][break]
Once everybody was all set, the game began. Morgana took her place in front of the net. She continued to lounge in the air and awaited for the first pitch. The creepy old pirate guy was first to serve everybody up, launching the ball back in the air. The blonde guy went to hit the ball over, causing the other birds to scramble and hit it over. With the ball at the apex of its height, the goth rose a hand in the direction of the ball at play.[break][break]
"Yoink." she said playfully, bringing the projectile near her as it began to spin around her. Raising into the air, she aim at a gap in the birds and pantomimed throwing the ball. The ball was thrown at fast speeds into the area below before their opponents could do anything. [break][break]

Kurai was surprised when a chair that looked like a lifeguard's tower rose from the ground. It even had a man on top shouting instructions! He was amazed that Earth-bitch bothered to send someone to explain the rules. Normally they'd just let them flounder and lose then laugh at them for being incompetent. “Hey ref. So uh... How do we win?” Was he really the only one that bothered to think of how to complete the mission or were the others just going to wing it? “First to three wins!” “Easy enough. That's not even a tenth of a real game.”[break][break] As cringy as the bird bros were at least they focused on the game once it finally started. It seemed Kurai didn't have to do much initially since the others mostly took over the game. The heavily armored man going on the offense right off the bat and the floating goth woman getting an easy point due to an unexpected power. He let out a whistle before speaking. “Woooooow. Nice. So who are you all anyway? My name's Kurai.”[break][break] Once the gym bros on the other side got hold of the ball Kurai held his hands up in expectance. “ Yo our serve! Hand it over!” The birds grumbled a bit before throwing it over the net to the young man who caught it in his waiting hands. Being here like this with a ball in his hands reminded him of his early school days back when he played the role of good son dutifully. It seemed like that was two lifetimes ago now. [break][break] When Kurai got off the court and was at a sufficient distance to serve he placed his hand on his chest. The red pentagram on his hand glowed as it branded itself onto his chest. Silver armor appeared on both of his cheeks complete with a dark gray horn on either side of his head. This newest ability of Seere's was quite handy. That wasn't the extent of his transformation however as a thin black tail with a heart shape on the tip sprouted from his lower back. [break][break] Kurai ran to the side of the court in a flash with his buffs. As he did so he tossed the ball up into the air and jumped to follow it. His serve was more like a spike with the speed it flew over the net. Only the bro closest to the center was able to react in time to potentially block the shot, but the young man quickly took care of that. One look at his face and the bro was all it took to activate his skill. The demonic face they saw inflicted them with the [Fear] status effect causing them to cower in place before they could defend the serve. [break][break] After landing on the ground Kurai smirked and placed his hands on his hips. “Looks like this'll be a quick game.”[break][break] Buffs: Utopia Bandanna (+20% VIT and WIL. All the while the girl named Morgana had mystical powers that would be considered borderline cheating while the boy named Kurai was stranger still. Had he changed outfits? [break][break] “ Nice to meet you, er Kurai, was it? We can talk later after we’ve kicked their spectral assess from this plane of existence!” [break][break] He was yelling more due to frustration than anything else, feeling that he wasn’t picking up enough of his weight around for this game. It was apparent that the gymbros thought the same.[break][break] “ Bro, they’re strong.”[break][break] “ We can’t win this way, bro.”[break][break] “ Bro…”[break][break] “ Bro!”[break][break] “ Bro0o0ooo…”[break][break] Soon their chanting started to echo the crowd, and the buff bros began to glow an eerie green. The entire field seemed to darken and in a fluorescent flash, the entire gymbro volleyball team had combined into one 10 foot tall gymbro with 3 pairs of arms and 4 legs. “ Referee!” Xibalba screamed with all his might, eyes bulging. “ I-IS THAT EVEN ALLOWED?”[break][break] The sandman referee blew its whistle and nodded. “ THE SYSTEM ALLOWS IT!” [break][break] Xibalba flipped off the referee as he backed into the volleyball court. Since it was their turn again to serve, the old man cautiously took the ball and went back to the furthest part of the sandy court. He thought of serving it the same way as he had before but since we were using some skills, and they combined to form one giant monstrosity, he figured it would be fine. He activated the core ability that granted him more strength, covering him in a flame so dark the only thing you could see was a purple light that formed around his eyes. These flames did not burn, but represented his hatred. [break][break] More importantly, he hit the ball at an angle, so that it would swerve and miss the giant gymbro by an inch. His teammates were free follow up, however they wanted. Hopefully, that extra power behind the ball would make it difficult even for the gymbros to deflect properly. [break][break]

Well that was certainly not very sportsmanlike but he'd seen weirder in his time, even if this one came close. With the Brocatoncheires active on the field, it would seem that using abilities were fair game now. That suited Dantalion just fine, the quicker this mission was over the better, then he could find out a bit more about the sinners that surrounded him. Interesting though they might be, if they were on this world then they were either sinners or lost Martyrs and either way they had to die in the end to bring about a new world. For now though, they were at least fairly amusing company.

With Xibalba's serve, it seemed to almost work before the massive Abromination slid past, slapping the ball upwards with one set of arms and then, due to its height and power, immediately spiking it with another set of arms. Tali had started moving the moment the Beast of Many Bros began its slide. Appearing in his left hand seemingly from nothing was a gleaming silver warbow with a string of azure light, that selfsame light flaring into existence in his right eye. Tali slid in under the ball, knocking it up only slightly before activating his ability causing three shadowy figures to dive out of his shadow.

The first seemed to be made of firesmoke, crackling with embers and a pair of blazing red eyes, it launched the ball to the side to the second shadow. This one was wrapped in a burial shroud of flowing black cloth and had pale ghostlight for eyes and launched the ball upwards. The last was almost made of tarsmoke, thick and inky, with two dull black orbs like obsidian for eyes and it knocked the ball even higher.

Dantalion was almost tempted to say a one-liner but he hadn't fallen so far as that just yet. Instead golden filigree exploded into life along the length of the bow that he carried and the string turned to purest white. When he drew back the arrow it was ringed by a golden halo and he fired it up at the ball. When it struck he immediately teleported to the position of the arrow and from on-high he spiked the ball straight down like a meteor. That should be more than enough but with three extra team members on the field the ground force should be just fine as well.

Their celebration of rubbing the birds face into the ground over their bad luck to come across a trump card such as her was short lived, as the gym brat birds all appeared fuming over the fact that they were thoroughly outmatched by their squad of players in this game. "Whatever, let's beat these things in volleyball so I can get my drink." Weird ass pirate man was back up to serve and he didn't really disappoint them any with a serve like that. Morgana couldn't exactly help given her location on the field. She was just chilling up front, doing her best not to appear too ghastly pale. This left Morgana with some decision to make with how she could help the team out. Sure the telekinesis thing could help, but would they have an answer for that? Those four arms probably could take care of that on their own, which meant she had to do something that wasn't built around spicing up the ball. Kurai was astounded when the gym bros joined together to form some sort of giant monster. It was no surprise when the ref allowed it, but that didn't make him any less frustrated. What was supposed to be an easy game turned into something annoying. Damned sore losers. Not what he could say much as he got frustrated when things didn't go his way either. Xibalba served once more and did well, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough to get past the multi-armed behemoth. Dantalion took the lead next with a great display of power. The man must have been here for quite a while. He could probably come in handy. Finally, Morgana pulled out the big 'guns'. She used every gym bro's greatest weakness: boobs. The amalgam was too distracted by her 'charm' to notice the ball heading for their end of the court. They were dumbfounded and drooling as they flexed their enormous arms to show off how strong they were for her. Kurai didn't even have to do anything as the last point was scored. When the referee called out that the game was over he threw a fist in the air. “Woohoo! Finally, this is over with!
