Once the illusion was gone Andy could see Hana and Dee Dee's vehicle slowing down in front of him. It seemed like the man who they were talking about before was slowing down as well. Despite this, he still couldn't catch up to them. [break][break] If his vehicle had been going at its normal speed he could have used his ability to match their pace, but not having a license has its drawbacks. Andy could feel his energy being drained through the steering wheel as he drove. It was siphoning his Magic to fuel the vehicle and slowing down significantly to do so. He activated his Dash and Dine ability to try and offset the Speed debuff. At least it was something. [break][break] The popup for the third lap appeared and the landscape shifted once again. The guardian statues appeared not long after asking annoying questions. Luckily working in a hectic environment like a kitchen allowed him to keep his cool and think under pressure. Hopefully, the riddles would be easy enough that he could answer. [break][break] “The shorter I am, the bigger I am. What am I?” “A temper!” Andy took another egg and threw it at the statue. It crumbled away when the explosion hit its head. Looks like they were pretty weak if he answered correctly. Now he just had to deal with the others. [break][break] “I have three eyes, but cannot see. I command with each blink, but I cannot think. What am I?” “A traffic light!” A third egg dispatched another statue. Almost there. Just a few more. [break][break] “Reaching stiffly for the sky, I bare my fingers when it's cold. In warmth, I wear an emerald glove, and in between I dress in gold. What am I?” “What the hell that makes no sense!” “Wrong answer. A deciduous tree.” He still didn't understand what it meant. Andy quickly slammed on the brakes and hid behind the sphinx. He managed to avoid the large evergreen tree that appeared out of thin air thankfully by crossing behind the creature. [break][break] The statue looked back at his van and lifted a back paw. Again he wished he had one of the larger vehicles. He could just ram it and take it down. For now, he had to settle with throwing an egg bomb to knock the paw off its course. Andy then threw the last two bombs in his possession at the statue. It didn't take it down right off, but it distracted it enough for it to run straight into a wall it hadn't noticed during the fight. He quickly swerved to avoid it and laughed as he continued forward. |

At the pats and squeezes to her shoulder, Hana glanced over again and smiled. She'd wiped most of the tears away, and the flow seemed to have stopped, now that they'd passed the lake and began heading into the final lap. With a thumbs up in return after Dee Dee's assistance, she focused on the road again. At least all of her duplicates seemed to have minds of their own, weaving around through traffic to distract the other drivers, causing them to brake or turn away, letting Hana surge forward.

"Puzzles!? Aww, seriously!?" Hana sounded quite upset by the prospect. As the flying statues began to appear, she attempted to swerve and avoid them, but they were insistently hounding her car. "Why is a raven like a writing desk?" One was floating nearby, demanding an answer, while the musician fumed.

"Shut up! I'm not doing this! This is supposed to be a race!" She had to turn sharply again to avoid the attack that followed, car bouncing from the impact to the road inches away. "Alright, that's it. Time for a shortcut!" Reaching one arm out of her window, she slapped at the roof of her car as something appeared on top. It appeared to be...a large speaker.

As her headset popped into place, she took a deep breath. Shrieking into the mic in frustration. A squeal of feedback ripped from the speaker, followed by the amplified cry. A wave of sound sending the next guardian flying...and possibly several other vehicles as well. Hana's car zipped forward in a little bubble of sound, more statues bouncing off of the field as she accelerated.

Dee Dee was glad to see she had helped if only a little, and as they cleared the lake fully Dee Dee kept her eyes open at the other drivers, one had already tried to attack them so who knows who else would try? But as she did so the prompt for the next leg of the race popped up and Dee Dee read it, well that was going to be interesting, Question time during a race? Talk about a lightning round! This was going to be a bit of a worry for Dee Dee and as the first guardian came forward for Hana one came for Dee Dee, seems her being there meant extra worries for Hana... That was until Hana released quite the Feedback sound and Dee Dee had to cover her hears, the good news was it was brief and that is sent the guardian flying away from the sudden burst of sound, the good news was it didn't seem to hurt too to much, but she assumed that was thanks to Hana being able to control it.. or maybe it was just a function of the ability or skill she used? ether way it seemed to work but still some guardians approached Dee Dee's side of the car but stayed a bit away from at a safe distance. Before it could ask a question Dee Dee's Word bubble popped up "are answers in Text okay?" she hoped they would be last she she wanted was for the guardians that were hanging outside the bubble Hana had made to be made stronger cause of her. Thankfully the Statue replied "This is acceptable" and Dee dee was quite happy to hear that it would be allowed. "I cannot be Felt, Seen, heard, nor do I make a smell, I hide behind you, and where you cannot see, Yet I can also fill pits, I am there when you die, and my presence scares children.. what am I?" Dee Dee blinked a moment, this sounded familiar though the words were switched about but it still sounded right so she tilted her head and answered with the word Bubble "The Dark?" The statue seemed to shake and then made it's attack, but Dee Dee already had her wand out and she blasted it making it fall to pieces. Thanks to Hana's shield only one more Guardian could actually make it over to them likely the first one having been blasted away by Hana ability activation, so she only had to answer one more, "If Time Flies like an arrow.. What does Fruit flies like?" Dee Dee blinked at this question and she was confused but she didn't want to not answer so with a moments thought she let out a little giggle as she figured the answer she thought up was silly but it was funny as her Word bubble popped "A Banana?" the Statue started to shake and rumble, and then it started to laugh before crumbling from it's own laughing vibrations, Well that was a sight to see. By that point though the two of them managed to get out of the area with the guardians and Dee Dee looked about to see if anyone else was going to try to take a shot at them, but at the moment it seemed they were to busy or to drained, dealing with or having dealt with the guardians, well those that remained in the race anyway. Last Lap: Give it everything you got! - Only up to fifth place is needed, everyone else will fail the race, eliminate the competition!
All that was In front of Enigma was road as his speed came back, with him veering off of the butterfly and sending it behind him to knock into two cars behind him to deal Psionic damage equal to his magic stat. The main point was to damage the vehicles and cause the two riders behind him to lose control as he sped up toward the last stretch, more or less up to where Hana and Dee Dee were who took the lead. Completing the race was Enigma's only objective, as long as he wasn't behind fifth place, he wouldn't attack or act desperate. However, he gave out a whistle to see his companions so further ahead, it looked like they had no setbacks whatsoever. This Race wasn't kind to Enigma though, it looked like he was aiming for third place. However, how did the others do?

Andy was far too distracted with the illusion and sphinxes to notice Hana's copies of her car running around the track. Until they started wreaking havoc and crashing other drivers that is. Despite the fact he was somewhat impressed with the brutality of her driving he was annoyed he now had to dodge the wrecks she caused. [break][break] As if catching up to Hana wasn't hard enough she then activated her own Speed buff to get even further ahead. Luckily he was out of range of the blast, but the other wrecks she caused with her screaming weren't doing Andy any good. Once again he had to swerve around the crashes to make it through the track. At least Dee Dee wasn't causing any problems. [break][break] Andy was glad when the popup for the final lap appeared. The race was almost over and he could collect his prize. It seems Hana wasn't the only one wreaking havoc as the man the girls were talking to caused a crash as well. Not that he wouldn't do the same if he had some bombs left, but for now the moment he was more focused on finishing the race. The other two could thin the herd for him. "I cannot believe this. This is so unfair." Hana was sulking, after receiving the second place award she was sharing with Dee Dee and her companions. She wasn't mad about sharing, though. They'd entered as a team after all.

No, up on the first place stand, collecting all the adulation was...one of her clones. She'd been using them to cover the racetrack all around her, including in front of her. When the dust had cleared, only one was left. And it'd beaten her across the finish line.

After collecting the price, the Crystal Heart, her clone walked off stage, waving to the crowd one final time...before vanishing as Hana's ability went back on cooldown. The race organizers looked exasperated for several long moments, before simply scooping up the prize from where it had fallen and hurrying away backstage.

Dee Dee was waving at the crowd, quite happy to be in second place. granted her being there was because she was sharing the same vehicle as Hana, but still they counted it and so Dee Dee was quite happy to accept her reward for making it in second, even BombDee, Kramer and Jimmy were giving little rewards, granted theirs were food which they were enjoying but still they were quite happy with it. Looking over to Hana Dee Dee let out the smallest of Giggles at her reaction to what she said "I mean you still technically came in first right?" she asked with her Word bubble while patting her on the arm and giving her a tomato "May I offer you a Tomato in this trying time?" the bubble continued, at least they were all safe and the race had finished with no one injured, Maybe Dee Dee would try one of the races herself sometime? But she would want a License before doing that, but at least she had Vehicles to use for the Races so she was all set that way. And by the looks of things the officials didn't mind being able to take back the reward for later races, so in the end it all worked out, they still got their rewards for the race, but she opened her Trade window and sent Andy, Hana, And Tommy a copy of her new Guidebook "Look at the bright side you still get points and you get your own Copy of the new and improved Waddle-dee dee's beginners guide to the system! Enigma got off his motorcycle and folded his arms. It was a bit rough to realize that Hana managed to not only secure first place but second place all on her own as well with the illusion ability that she had at her disposal. It almost made Enigma wonder if he could do something like that in the future. Maybe some illusionary roadblocks in the way could have trashed the vehicles of the other challenges in order or him to get a leg up on the competition. But right now, he just had to accept the fact that he was third best. Tommy walked over to Hana and Dee Dee, genuinely surprised. "I know that eventually, my winning streak would run out, but to think it would be today. Congratulations, you were the better racer today."Thinking it over some more, Hana didn't slow down at all in this race. "Maybe racing is in your blood? You found another niche, and you had a good co-partner to boot. " He figured that Dee Dee provided some level of support in her way, Enigma was sure that those summons had abilities that proved useful in the end. There was also another racer in a medium-sized car, which turned out to be Andy. "There was also some unexpected competition as well, but as long as five of us make it past the final lap of the race, we can all walk away with half of a forged key."

Andy couldn't help but laugh when he saw that Hana lost to her clone. It was tragic really. In a way he couldn't believe the judges allowed it to happen. “Sorry. Sorry. You're right. That's unfair. I-” Then Dee Dee memed on the other girl and he burst out laughing again. The only way this race could have ended better was if he had won. [break][break] He may not have gotten the big prize, but he got what he came here for and then some. Once Andy stopped laughing he looked over Dee Dee's Guidebook and whistled. “Impressive. Looks like you've put in quite a bit of work since we last talked. I like it. Good job Dee Dee.”[break][break] The man in the mask wasn't too friendly, but at least he wasn't cold. Andy assumed he meant him when they mentioned unexpected competition. “I'm not too sure I could be considered competition to you quite yet. You were pretty good out there. I'm just lucky the two of you did as much damage as you did. Seems like I still have quite a ways to go. 'Till next time everyone!” It was best to stay humble in front of a new friend. |

This is crafting material for The Forge! [break][break] Dee Dee's Guidebook - This book has a very clearly hand made look to it. Written on the front is the title, "Waddle-Dee Dee's Beginner’s Guide to the System!" There’s also an illustration of a Waddle Dee version of Dee Dee waving, along with a word bubble overhead that says, "Let's Learn Together!" On the back cover are the words "Don't Panic!" written in big friendly letters. Inside is a description of the system interface and the system itself, including functions like the messaging system, shop, guilds, area map, forum access, and a host of other things that any beginner might need to know. It’s all explained without jargon and as clearly as possible, making it easy to understand. Towards the back was a glossary of terms that the owner of the book might overhear other people use.
