Jonas froze as he saw what was waiting for him inside the room. He found a pale woman just as he intended, but not the one he wanted. The green and lavender lights entranced him to the point he was unaware of Arcana until her shield appeared in front of him. What had he just seen? That was a dead body, right? There's no way. It couldn't be.

He blinked and suddenly Jonas was back to reality as Arcana yanked him away from the skeletons approaching the doorway. “Run! She's not just a bitch! She's a bitch AND a lich!” As they made their way to the stairs he could hear the skeletons pounding on the shield. Last time it was able to hold off a few of them, but he didn't remember how long it lasted. Even if it held off the skeletons there's no guarantee it would hold the lich as well.

The pair made their way to the stairs and began climbing. “Damn that thing isn't going to let us go. Why are we going up? Don't we have to kill that thing to get out of here? She won't follow us if she expects her skeletons to bring us to her!”

Her pale skin clashes against the wave of black hair flowing down her shoulders. Every movement brings with it the sound of clacking bone as she seeks to regain the youth that was taken from her. Her voice is dry and she's prone to coughing fits every now and again. A bright lavender color is visible from her chest when her magic is used. [break][break] [Basic] Attacks - 1 rank [PWR][break][break] Siphon Life - Through her twisted magic, the Lich drains the life from her target, stealing their [VIT] based on her [MAGI] stat. Her weakened state makes this once feared spell a fraction of it's former glory and take 2 posts to begin affecting its target. [break][break] Summon Brittle Skeleton - Summons a small group of three skeleton minions. These are laughably weak when alone, but grow in strength as more are created. Each skeleton is Level 01 with a 3 in every stat.[break][break] - x - x - x - x - x - [break][break] The party was on the run, with the risen skeletons crashing into Arcana's card while pulling Jonas away. Their words didn't deter the woman from following them. She stride was slow but methodical. She walked along normally before snapping her fingers again. Just as before, several skeletons would begin to rise from the ground in front of the two at the top of the stairs. The other three skeletons were running after them from behind. [break][break] "You can't run. Why even try?" The lich said, her tone stoic and robotic. She looked at the two on the stairs while holding her arm at them, her palm glowing green. But she was interrupted by another cough, increasing in severity as the soft green light covered by cloth would be visible to the both of them. It was her heart, or rather, what was left of it. The organ was almost crystallized at this point, beating irregularly as the woman managed to steady herself. [break][break] Her arm still raised, the Lich then cast [Siphon Life] as the two would begin to feel a minor health drain begin to affect them, no doubt fueled by the woman. It was only minor though, and her trouble maintaining the effect of the spell was probably the reason why they only felt sluggish. The effects on her were slowly showing, her form slowly becoming more healthy looking as her pale skin was becoming a peachy color. Before she could finish, Arin stopped when she saw several more skeletons rise at the top of the stairs. Looking back, the rest of them were still chasing them from behind she noticed a strange green light on the lich's chest. "Well, she's not only a bitch and a lich, she's too conniving, too. Is she trying to force me to do collateral damage here?!"[break][break]
Suddenly, she felt faint as she started to stubble while holding her head. She raised her head a bit high enough to notice the lich's arm still raised and her skin's pale complexion becoming more peachy. "Damn it! She's draining our health! I-If this keeps up..."[break][break]
Arin knew using The Fool would bypass the skeletons blocking the stairs. But with her health siphoned bit by bit, there was no way they had the energy to run. Plus, she wasn't sure if her Coins could block magic attacks like this one. Lastly, using her Wands was out of the question unless they wanted to get caught in the explosion.[break][break]

As they ran Jonas was looking behind them to keep an eye on the lich and her skeletons. Sure enough, the shield didn't hold them for long. While he was grateful for Arcana's help, she could be really rude. “Fine. It's not like I'm going to be much better.” Sound wasn't exactly the most controllable element after all. Getting to the roof and being able to fight in the open was the best idea.

Suddenly Arcana stopped and he nearly bumped into her. When Jonas looked to the top of the stairs he saw why. The lich had summoned even more skeletons to block them from their goal. “Damn I guess her brain isn't rotting anymore.” That wasn't the only problem though as out of nowhere he could feel the energy leaving his body. He wasn't sure what happened, but the lich must have done something to them as his companion was feeling it too.

Upon being prompted by Arcana he looked back towards the skeletons and the lich behind them. Like she said they couldn't fight in a tight space like this. The only place to go was up. Jonas turned back towards the enemies blocking the top of the stairs. He then quickly moved in front of the woman holding his hand. “Get ready to run again as soon as I shoot.”

When Jonas opened his mouth the high-pitched screech that came out quickly condensed into a bright ball of energy that filled the stairway. Not even a second after it shot forward so did he. Hopefully, with Arcana in tow, he bolted up the stairs behind the ball. If all went to plan the attack would knock the skeletons back, or at least knock them down, and allow the pair to get past onto the roof.

They'd make their escape towards the room as the lady had been somewhat restored from her spell. She looked more healthy now, able to move around without constant clicks and clacks as she'd raise more Skeletons to take the place of the old ones "After them!" She commanded, as her minions would begin to take off after the two. [break][break] Meanwhile, with the duo racing up the stairs, the clattering of bones behind them was growing bigger and bigger. The woman was summoning more. Sure, they were weak and pretty fragile, but there would come a point where they'd be overrun if they didn't start culling the heard or finding a way to do just that. "I'll drain you of every last drop of life until you're nothing but bones and dust!" She bellowed from below, walking at a quickened pace up the stairs behind her army of skeletons. They were climbing over one another to get to the pair, rattling all around. She was aware this was a tutorial, yet it was already spelling their doom due to the lich draining most of their energy. Thankfully, it was short-lived thanks to Jonas firing a magic note that broke through the skeleton blockade. Without a word, Arin mustered all of her remaining strength to run and join him in escaping from the lich. This allowed them to climb up possibly a few more floors. Even though they managed to break through the skeletons in front of them Arcana and Jonas weren't out of the woods yet. The group behind them continued to grow as they ran. The lich grew visibly healthier as their energy drained. Things weren't looking good for the pair as they continued up the stairs. He could have sworn that the building looked smaller from the outside. “Where the hell did all of these stairs come from?!”

Suddenly Arcana grabbed his wrist and pulled out a card. “You know what all your cards do now, right?” Jonas wasn't sure what to make of her grin, but obviously, she had some sort of plan. Or at least he hoped she did. He didn't have an idea besides continuing to run. Not like offering her an idea would dissuade the rude girl from whatever she thought up. “Fine do what you have to do. Things can't get much worse.”

Her pale skin clashes against the wave of black hair flowing down her shoulders. Every movement brings with it the sound of clacking bone as she seeks to regain the youth that was taken from her. Her voice is dry and she's prone to coughing fits every now and again. A bright lavender color is visible from her chest when her magic is used. [break][break] [Basic] Attacks - 1 rank [PWR][break][break] Siphon Life - Through her twisted magic, the Lich drains the life from her target, stealing their [VIT] based on her [MAGI] stat. Her weakened state makes this once feared spell a fraction of it's former glory and take 2 posts to begin affecting its target. [break][break] Summon Brittle Skeleton - Summons a small group of three skeleton minions. These are laughably weak when alone, but grow in strength as more are created. Each skeleton is Level 01 with a 3 in every stat.[break][break] - x - x - x - x - x - [break][break] The musical note had broken through the skeleton wall, offering the two an escape while their pursuer would growl under her dry breath. "Fools!" She stomped once as the skeletons would jump back up to their feet that had acted as the barrier between them and their escape. "After them!" She couldn't use her life draining ability with them so far away, but as they knew that, she'd have to resort to other means to corral these two. [break][break] Skeletons burst forth from more and more places. Their spawn rate was slowly increasing from the life that Lich had managed to drain out of Arcana and Jonas. They were as frail as ever, but they were starting to gain ground on them, even with their increased speed. Tens of footsteps were joining them as skeletons and more would be joining the two during their ascent. Yet once again, a wall of skeletal minions blocked the way. They burst from the stairwell, blocking the way as each one threatened to destroy more and more of the way up. [break][break] "And where do you think you're going?"[break][break] The Lich was carried by several of her minions, fashioned into a skeletal chair with some heads still locked onto the two brats. She stepped down, the energy drained giving her a pale but much younger appearance now, somewhere in her mid twenties. "No more games. Jonas was waiting for whatever it was that Arcana had planned. Before she could another batch of skeletons burst through the wall to block their way up again. Whatever was happening had better happen fast as the ever-growing horde of skeletons was making their way up the stairs.

Not to mention the lich itself kept on draining their life force. If this lasted much longer the two of them were likely to just drop dead. Though that wouldn't happen any time soon if he had anything to say about it. Jonas hummed the victory theme from an old video game and rainbow-colored music notes floated from his mouth. They circled the pair of them before being absorbed by their bodies. Suddenly their energy came back to them to buy them some more time for Arcana's plan.

Until they changed that is. Out of nowhere, she claimed that the lich could take their lives! She then summoned a giant suit of armor to attack the mass of skeletons coming up the stairs. What even was this plan?! “What the hell do you think you're doing telling her that?! Screw this!” It was time to stop running. This was getting them nowhere. Literally.

It was time to take the fight to the lich. The suit of armor may be large, but still, Jonas managed to slip past it to make his way to the skeletons as well. One of the benefits of being somewhat small. He swung his fist at the first skeleton he could get to. With how many there were surely he'd hit something. Whatever it was the sound echoed through the area causing a shockwave that rippled down through staircase to hopefully hit the lich as well.

[break][break] [Basic] Attacks - 1 rank [PWR][break][break] Siphon Life - Through her twisted magic, the Lich drains the life from her target, stealing their [VIT] based on her [MAGI] stat. Her weakened state makes this once feared spell a fraction of it's former glory and take 2 posts to begin affecting its target. [break][break] Summon Brittle Skeleton - Summons a small group of three skeleton minions. These are laughably weak when alone, but grow in strength as more are created. Each skeleton is Level 01 with a 3 in every stat.[break][break] - x - x - x - x - x - [break][break] With Arcana's summoning of the Jester from her cards, the sudden bout of retaliation had caught the Lich off guard. The swing of the Jester had destroyed enough Skeletons to pushed all the way to her, albeit somewhat weakened. The additional force of Jonas' swing had made it so she backed up a little, though finally looking healthy enough to fight back. "Y-You...broke through my army?" She asked, plainly confused by the sudden fight her drained targets were putting up. She'd raise her hand, bringing up six more skeletons as they'd continue forth to Arcana and Jonas. [break][break] "IDIOTS! FOOLS!" barked the Lich, stomping her foot on the ground as she'd have to start over and focus on casting her draining spell once more. Not only she was amazed at her summon's power, but she was also a bit scared that she let it go wild here a bit more. Even so, there was no turning back at this. She would have gone with the safe route to increase their chances, but she knew it was time to go on the full offense.[break][break]
As soon she got to her feet, Arin glared at Jonas when he chided her for her seemingly nonsensical plan. "Give me a break! I tried to play nice for both of us, but that witch has no intentions to let that happen." Arin then pointed her finger at the lich next and said to her, "You did this on yourself, bitch. I was hoping not to cause any more chaos around here. Too bad you're playing with fire."[break][break]
The Jester roared before it charged towards the six skeletons in front of it and swung its lance to them, hopefully to eradicate them completely. Regardless of it broke through the army, Arin took out another card from her tarot deck and tossed it to the remaining army or to the lich before it exploded in magic. She could feel her energy draining again, so there was no way she could waste her time with the army once more or worry about the recoil it may cause to the hallway around them.[break][break]
Unknown to her, the armored jester's body began to fade. This was getting ridiculous. The skeletons kept spawning again every time they took them out and the lich looked like it'd barely taken any damage. If it took any at all. Jonas was fed up with this bullshit. This was supposed to be a fucking tutorial and it had long outgrown its welcome. The whole situation had the potential to be fun when they first started, but now it was just a pain in the ass that never seemed to stop.

“Sure I'll give you a fucking break!” Jonas yelled as he plunged his fist down into the staircase they were standing on. If there was one thing he knew it was how destructive sound could be. The wave of sound burst forward through the hall toward the newly born skeletons and the lich once more.

That wasn't his only aim, however. The vibrations that permeated the stairs quickly broke down the materials they were made of. Hairline fractures turned into massive cracks until the staircase collapsed beneath the weight of the undead. Arcana and Jonas weren't safe from this however as the ground beneath their feet crumbled away as well.

This process takes a single post on concentration, but after which, will summon a hulking Skeleton comprised of lesser ones. These are Level 5 with all D rank stats. [break][break] - x - x - x - x - x - [break][break] Taken by surprise, the Lich's undead minions are demolished entirely by the appearance of the armored jester. She braces herself for the incoming assault, and gets a face full of jestery violence for her efforts. Yet it wasn't until Jonas would activate his soundwaves that the entire house would creak as a result. Minor cracks had worsened into huge, visible ones that had caused the entire house to let out such shrill creaks of pain. The staircase had fallen apart, with the remaining skeletons falling to depths unknown. [break][break] "Y-You idiots!" The Lich said, damaged as the floor beneath them had given away. The party all fell down to the next level, but to their surprise, the other floors hadn't fared well against the vibrations and had all given away. It was one fast trip towards the main floor. It was growing closer and closer. Without a way to cushion the fall, it looked to be game over. [break][break] Regardless of how they broke the fall, Jonas and Arcana would find a pile of bones below them, no doubt the remains of the skeleton army that had been dismantled from the fall. The Lich, however, had not fared so well. She staggered up, a large rib pierced through her. Her breathing was labored, painful even. But sitting there, visible for the two of them to see was an ethereal blue heart that was beating irregularly. [break][break] "You come into MY world, destroy MY home! And try to kill ME!" The woman said, her flesh beginning to melt away partially as the flesh around her was on fire. Her heart was visible as day, vulnerable for the two to attack. She'd raise a bone hand, draining the life out of the two again, but this time was much more fierce and left them drained even further. [Drain Life][break][break] She slammed her foot on the ground as the skeletons behind her would begin to rumble, and hands connected together with other pieces, forming larger and more complex intersections. "I'll drain you until there's nothing left! But just as she would succumb to her brief despair, she noticed the very same armored jester was falling with them. This time, she gasped to see it was starting to disappear, but there was no way she would let it do so without one last command.[break][break]
"Hey! Don't just stand there! Save us before we become pancakes!" Her Jester relented as it not only caught its summoner but also Jonas nearby. As soon as it landed with its two feet, the Jester fell to its knees before it disappeared completely. This caused both Arin and Jonas to fall on the pile of bones, much to Arin's frustration as she rubbed on her bruised back. "Ow... Dammit... Didn't think that through..." She then turned to Jonas, now seething after what happened. "You see why I have to avoid using Wands?! Argh... We almost die if it wasn't for my ability."[break][break]
It didn't take long for Arin to hear the lich's accusations of destroying her home. In her defense, it was their mission to defeat the lich and escape this tutorial. But after what she almost did to them, she finally reached the limit of her patience. "How hypocritical of you to make that accusation. Sure, we had to mess up your home, but we're trying to stay alive here, lady! It's called "survival" and you draining our lives isn't much different than our will to live! But the only thing that's different is how you play our lives like food and us preserving it! I rather let your home be rubble than let you drain our lives like juice!"[break][break]
With that declaration, Arin took out another Wands card from her tarot deck and tossed it to funnel into another big magical explosion. She would try to summon her Jester again, but she noticed from her UI that it would take a while until her ability's cooldown expired. She turned to Jonas and said, "You're up, Mr. Musical!"
