Mikael found himself spinning a sign outside of an Ice Cream Shop.

He wasn't sure what got him here. Well, he was. If he were being truly honest, then he would admit that he had been homeless for the past few days. Sleeping on the streets had been horrible. The mice and rats can be very deadly. Even more so, there were quite a number of people who were always looking to take advantage of others in dire circumstances. It was in one of these moments where Kael suddenly found himself being woken up by an elderly man. And here he was now, spinning the sign to the old man's shop as he shouted, "I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!".

Truthfully, he felt that the slogan was bad. It was...morbid, in a way. Yet, the old man promised him food and possible shelter during the cold nights if he worked on promoting his shop. And so here he was, waving his the sign as he did his best to comically advertise the store. Life was tough, and he was sure if couldn't get any worse.[break][break]

Until it did.[break][break]

He was just about to do another twirl when he suddenly bumped into another person. It had been accidental, to be sure. However, his large frame certainly was not the best one to collide with. At least, that was what the children at the orphanage who called him a "tree trunk" had told him. [break][break]

"I'm so sorry!" Kael immediately cried out, holding out a had, worry etched on his face, "Here, let me help you up!" He tried to flash his best smile, hoping the person wasn't hurt at all!

Another day of living in Unison Central. Vanilla had been getting used to the life of a shopkeeper, spending a majority of the day just helping get others what they wanted and more. It was simple, and what was better than life being simple? Still, the woman did have to admit that the exciting times before settling down had been a bit more exciting, looking back on them. The fear of the unknown was a great driving force, and it became fairly obvious that she had much preferred something other than the monotony of life after Earth chan had taken everyone. So be it that she closed the shop for lunch and decided to take a walk down the road with her head in the clouds. She huffed, lost in her own thoughts while turning the corner as her feet continued on. She worried about Vanessa, having wondered if she had loaded in whenever. Would they ever meet again, or were they fated t be torn apart like the star crossed lovers like they were. Although Vanilla wasn't entirely set on accepting that she would be missing forever, there was still some hope that-

She ran face first into somebody, being pushed off as the woman fell down onto the ground, stunned from the impact. a stranger's voice rang out and helped the small woman back up to her two feet, where she would shake her head while trying to brush off her little slip up. "Sorry!" she said in an accent that was asking the man for a spot of tea with their fish and chips from being so British. "I wasn't paying attention. Just...My mind in the gutters...Heh." She laughed anxiously, looking up at the man towering above her as the woman cleared her throat and gazed around at the streets around them.

"It's a bit of a strange world to be hawking ice cream in. I remember that happening back before this game started, but now? It makes me feel a bit more at home." Vanilla smiled, fumbling with the oversized red glasses that had slid down her nose. She pushed them back up before extending her hand to the man. "But if you did want to make it up, maybe we'll call it even with some ice cream?"

"That's okay!" Kael did his best friendly smile, "I sometimes forget how wide my frame is, and will bump into people accidentally, especially in University!" That was always his problem, the halls of his University were so tight that he most usually needed to barge through throngs of people. "I have to be careful, so it's certainly my fault!"[break][break]

He looked towards his sign, and found himself chuckling at her words. "You're right, and maybe that's part of the reason why I took this side job." Kael grinned, thinking back to the days where all he worried about during a nice summer day was when the ice cream truck was going to pass by their neighbourhood. Look at where they were at now, and the world that they're living in. What a cruel trick of Fate indeed.[break][break]

At the mention of getting ice cream, Kael perked up. "Yes! Why don't I get you a cone." He shed his uniform in a quick fashion before leading the woman toward the store, which was just behind them. It was not so full, save for some children who were just about done with their ordering. "You look like a waffle cone person. Vanilla, perhaps?" Kael tried to guess her favourite flavour, before turning to the counter and waving at the old man who ran the store. "Employees discount, so get whatever you'd like! My treat!" Kael grinned, already looking forward to his own order: Bubblegum flavour on a waffle cone!
