The fight had begun with only a few words from the enemy, but Xibalba was oblivious to the enemy’s taunts, and considering it wasn’t a very good insult, it just flew past over his head. However, if there was one thing the oversized petting zoo was right about was that they needed to smile more. This battle would go down in history as the bloodiest, most gruesome of fights and looking at his comrades, he could already start seeing red.[break][break] It was one of the youngin’s who had started the attack. They outnumbered the enemy by one more person but his instincts told him that it would be a terrible, uphill battle. Something about their enemies’ confidence didn’t seem right to him but he couldn’t put his blade on what exactly that was… but he wasn’t exactly known for complicated thoughts so he set the matter aside until he was presented with more clues. For now, it seemed as if a storm was coming. The oversized turkey made an attack on them, firing razor sharp feathers over a large area, whilst the pillbug made a roll on the little girl. There were far more threatening looking people but the muscle had to go for a specific target. [break][break] Two young ones decided to attack the bird, with the guy shielding the girl with the gun. Or did she use him as a shield for the attack? While it was a shame the guy with the sporty outfit, he had to admit the girl had guts. Which gave him an idea. If they all formed a line, only one of them would get hurt. Xibalba raised an eyebrow. It didn't look like the girl's idea would work so he left them to deal with the bird while he directly rushed to the pill bug. This would mean getting hit by the razor like feathers. "Fuck it! I'm not letting some shitty feathers get the best of me!" The feathers ripped into his clothes and his skin, and although their damage wasn't much, the system notified him of something called Defense Break, and that he would also be afflicted with Bleed. He shook his head off any other thought and went straight for his pray, leaving droplets of blood in his wake. Xibalba wasn’t going to aim exactly for the main body pillbug, no he’d aim for their… connection. Xibalba raised his talwar, the prized possession of his core, and rushed to bring his blade down on the chain, hopefully with enough strength to bring it down. In an instant, he activated his core’s ability, drawing a blade to exchange the tulwar to a more powerful blade that he had received. While it wasn’t a malignant blade, just the same, it was bathed in red. Its name was Bloodletter, a beautiful one-sided blade with a rectangular tip. It seemed as if the blade itself slushed and moved with heavy liquid akin to blood. [break][break] Now, Xibalba attempted to time it perfectly so that the severance would happen in between the contact point of the bug, though at the speed that the pillbug was moving, it would quite easily miss. He was coming at a vertical angle, where the chain and the pillbug were heading straight for the little girl at horizontal direction. He didn't know if the bullet shot by by the girl would have any effect, since there was no indication she had called out an ability or not. If anything, if he couldn’t apply that bleed to the damned roach he would be fine if he could severe or at least disrupt the attack. He didn’t know how tough the chain would be but he wasn’t made to make difficult decisions. [break][break] [break] {Summary}Xibalba receives On Hell's Wings damage E-Rank, causing defense break and F-Rank Bleed for one post. Rushes to intercept Crusty's attack on Faith, using drawing blade on both the pill and it's chain. Xibalba switches to Bloodletter, dealing D rank damage t and as part of Drawing Wrath, should give Crusty Rank F Bleed for 2 posts after the attack hits. Hoping to severe the chain or interrupt it long enough for Faith to attack. [break][break]

But after that ridiculous “battle” with the gym bros and their volleyball game, he had been infected by a strange feeling of festivity and wanting to participate in the spirit of Nadir Beach, in spite of the ongoing alien activity, Xibalba soon would become adorned with all things well… beach themed.[break][break] From sun hats, goofy glasses, beach shirts, and floppy sandals, he definitely fit the vibe of a beach goer now. On his right hand, he had snacks he had never tried before, which included chips, corn dogs and an assortment of beverages. You see, he might be familiar with sand and the heat, but everything else you could find on the beach was a rarity for Xibalba. [break][break] He was in the middle of downing a corn dog down his throat without chewing when he received the message from Kurai. It was an invitation for another mission, and it was something right up his alley.[break][break] He said something along the lines of ‘Well the children are the future’ and proceeded to eat everything else before accepting the mission. By the time he was done, his rock hard abs had melted into a rounded belly that protruded from his open shirt. It bounced up and down as he made his way to where Kurai had been sitting down by the bench. [break][break] “ Heyー” He let out an unholy burp. “ ~Bro!”[break][break] Xibalba thought it’d be funny to adopt the language of the locals. As they always said, when in Rome. “ Wassup?!! You here for another mission bro? That’s flyyy!”[break][break] He wasn’t sure what he was saying was right, but his heart was, at the very least in the right place. He flopped beside Kurai on the bench, whilst rubbing his belly. [break][break]

They all seemed capable of handling themselves but as he looked over to his enemies, the gym bros decided to become birds all of a sudden, with their cackling and laughing drowning the cheering of the crowd. [break][break] “ Bro!” One of the said muscle bound men said to the others.[break][break] “ Bro!” The other responded. [break][break] “ Brooo!!” It's like they started their own competition. [break][break] The old man sighed. “ Welcome all to this fucked up volleyball tournament.”[break][break] While he did not share their sentiment, each member of the team was unique in their own way. The one that stood out the most was the gothic chic who, by some unholy means, was floating a few feet just above the air. She would be quite useful in blocking and hitting the ball. The man who introduced himself as Dalton wore heavy armor and while Xibalba was fully on board with the armor, since it looked cool as hell, he also knew that armor and heat did not go very well together and that he must be cooking inside.[break][break] The last person to arrive had been Kurai, a lanky figure who suggested they served first, and Xibalba wondered if any of them had the slightest idea about how to play the game, let alone the sport. He had watched the sports channels a couple of times but nothing had really caught his interest except for maybe a few of them involving guns and fights. There were very few times that he watched volleyball, and most of it he remembered having a good night sleep.[break][break] “ It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out.” He growled with excitement. [break][break] Suddenly, a tall chair rose from the ground, made of sand and wood, materializing an umpire that was also made from sand. It had stars for eyes, shells for teeth and had the body of a middle aged man, beer belly and all. It released a whistle like a roar from a hole in its face. “ Players at the ready! Get into position! Non-gym bros serve first!”[break][break] “ Well, that answers who ‘serves’ first. Though I’m not sure what that means…”[break][break] The umpire released another whistle like tone. “ Definition of Serving: Put the ball in play! Simply hit the ball on the other side to begin the match.” Xibalba blinked a few times. It was nice for the system to provide minimal support for those who didn’t know how to play. “ All right then. I’ll serve…” [break][break] A black volleyball materialized in his hands the moment Xibalba manifested the intent of making the first move. He threw the ball up and down to test its realness, and he could feel the weight each it dropped. Now, he wasn’t exactly sure how heavy they should be but this definitely weighed more than usual. Once he got into position on the right corner of the volleyball field, he threw the ball up in the air and raising his left hand, he hit it as hard as he could, ensuring that the ball would arc and fly straight for the opposition. He struggled to understand some of what she said, but understood enough so that communication was not impaired. He wasn’t entirely opposed to the idea of being called Mr. Bakarat, since it had a manly, respectful air to his rancid, bloodstained aura. It sounded like he had lived a much simpler life, with a 9 to 5 day job. More importantly, he had never heard of anyone referring to his motherland in such a biblical way. Perhaps Ms. Esther was christian in some way? There would be no continuing the conversation they were having until the situation at hand wasn’t resolved. Esther had mentioned the skull had been some sort of alarm and this ear piercing cacophony would probably attract a whole lot of the ghosts that had been chasing them thus far. He saw and felt Esther yell something he couldn’t quite hear well, but by the fierce look on her face, it had had the desired effect. The only noises left were the ringing on his ears. “ Thank you, Ms. Esther!” Xibalba shook his head rapidly to straighten his ears. “ Pity if I had gone deaf. What do you think was that loud…?” He didn’t need to finish his sentence to know what was about to happen, it was anything but good. Despite quieting down somewhat fast, the noise had done a very good job at attracting whatever obscenities were lurking around. Xibalba’s ears twitched as the bone cackling alerted him of his good old friend behind them. Meanwhile, another specter loomed right in front of them, Shadows played a role in obscuring its appearance but he knew there were many behind the darkness that sheltered them.[break][break] “ Fuck!” He growled, spitting on the side to curse this unholy ground. “ Seems like this is our last stand, eh?” [break][break] While his tone was aloof but also disgruntled, all Xibalba could think of was how to get his hands on a weapon. Even if their chances of survival were slim, they weren’t going down until the fat lady sang its last chords. Just so, with the swipe of her hand, Esther seemed to make a knife appear out of nowhere. Xibalba’s eyes bulged. “ Hooow did you do thaaat, Ms. Esther?!! What sorcery is this…?! Are you a magician?!” He had his back to her, since the new monster appeared and he’d chosen to face this new one, since it seemed a lot stronger. “ Also, I’m not one to complain given our situation but… why aー”[break][break] Xibalba had tried to mimic Esther’s hand gesture to see if he could also summon anything and to his surprise, another one of those holographic messages. [break][break] Would you like to summon the Hated One? [break][break] Xibalba squinted his eyes to see if he could understand better, but decided to throw caution out the window (as if he had any in the first place) and slapped the holographic message with the palm of his hand. Incidentally, his hand did click on the Accept button and a black blaze suddenly appeared out of nowhere, materializing a majestic tulwar sheathed in a scarlet red scabbard. Xibalba gently took the blade from the air and it snug fit in his hand. “ Woah! What a beauty you are. The Hated One does not befit you at all…”[break][break] Turning his head to Esther. “ It seemed we are now both armed, but please stay close to me, Ms. Esther! Things are about to get messy!”[break][break]

I’ve always had difficulty pronouncing your names.” [break][break] Xibalba nodded side to side, his eyes gleaming with excitement and hunger. He didn’t mind the not killing part since it would only spoil the mood and the fighting would end. The only thing from going insane right now was the thrill of a good fight and if this girl and her sword could provide that then he would abide by whatever rules she wanted to follow. “ Your name will be Sika until you satisfy me and my blade…”[break][break] With that said, Seika didn’t hesitate to draw her blade. He was half expecting her to come swinging at him with her blade, but alas, using skills in a swordfight wasn’t something that he considered cheating, but he thought it was in poor taste. She sent a wave of slash towards him and for a split second, Xibalba thought of dodging but then years of battle and experience brought to life a rather dubious tactic. He was known to be reckless after all. [break][break] He somersaulted up in the air to avoid the surge of light but just as he did, the wave exploded into numerous blades that dealt damage to his backside. This propelled him forward towards Seika, whose broad attack would hopefully leave her open wide to the swing off his sword. It would come from above with the full force of his weight. Right there and then, he would also trigger an ability from his core set, one that filled his entire body with the wrathful energy of his being. His eyes became dripped in a deep purple and from the tip of his sword to his entire body, he would generate a vicious scarlet aura that would enhance his attacks by one rank, effectively increasing his power for some time. But was seriously low on funds and he was near the Nadir Beach area so he had no choice but play the system’s game. Now, Xibalba wasn’t reckless though he often found himself in situations that could be called reckless. After all, he very much believed in the whole “no pain no gain” motto. But if he had any inclination to danger, he understood that a B-Rank mission for someone of his level, in spite of all his experience in the field of battle, was far beyond his means. [break][break] But here was, trodding through the sandy beaches of Nadir, with wooden sandals, shorts, a white button up shirt and his black, frock coat over his shoulders. The sun was just rising above the blue horizon, donning the sky a beautiful pinkish orange and there were a few clouds in sight. It was hard to believe that such a scenery could be the prelude to a much dangerous event.[break][break] The mission called for a bunch of heroes to save the world by stopping a ritual of some elementals to bring forth a big baddie.[break][break] “ That sounds simple enough…” He commented while reading the mission statement. Xibalba had gotten somewhat better at navigating the system so he was now a little more comfortable with interacting with the holographic panels. “ What the hell is a Giant Surf Elemental?” Xibalba growled in frustration, but more annoyed than anything. He squinted at the panel as if it was going to make things better. [break][break] After reading the mission back and forth, Xibalba arrived at a spot in the beach where the system had designated it as the point of start. There he also spotted a young girl. Why the fuck are they all so young? Two specters, one of which they had left behind, only to bump into another one. This is the one that had interrupted Xibalba’s thoughts. As they had turned a new corner, a new kind of what-the-fuckery had appeared. Unfortunately, XIbalba hadn’t been able to stop in time and fully turned the corner before halting to a stop, his face full of regret, forming a comical “ Uh-oh”. [break][break] The skull security camera turned to face Xibalba with a sickening rattle and let out a bellow-like shriek. Turns out, it wasn’t just on the lookout but this shriek would alert any ghostly apparition to gather rapidly within the area. Whether it was the alcohol or his mood, there was likely a chance that he’d bite the bait. “ I hope you’re better with the sword than you are at introducing yourself, dearie.” With one last gulp of the battle, he threw it over the shoulder and properly faced his new opponent. “I’ve seen plenty of samurai in my time but never a young, soft girl like you, with a sword at hand. You look like you still suckle your momma’s milk.” Then, he took one step towards her, and then another. “ Aren’t samurai all about discipline and shit? Other than fighting, which often included firing guns, swinging his sword and outright drawing the blood of his enemies (and sometimes his allies) the man had not known how to do any other physical activity. Something like volleyball was such a first world sport, and for most of his life, he had been living in third-world countries. That was like… two worlds away. [break][break] He sighed and scratched the back of his head. How did he get into this mess exactly? [break][break] Partially through no fault of his own but the system. The world ran on missions now to get money but his fighting spirit would fall deeper and deeper since the system had deemed him so low, he was still level 1. In terms of rank, he wasn’t even a foot soldier and it annoyed him to have to start from the beginning despite his age. Why couldn’t he be level 45 when he had lived in the world for that long? [break][break] His frown, on a face like him, could’ve killed the crowd that had gathered. [break][break] The midday sun was high in the sky and no clouds meant that he’d get the full intensity of the afternoon heat. So he had taken off his entire attire and stood in the middle of the beach, on a makeshift, yet standard volleyball court, with a net in the middle. The mission was to defeat some gym brosーwhatever that meant for Xibalba, he had no clueー in a volleyball fight, because there was no other sport that could be played on the sand. “ This is all kinds of messed up, but whatever. A man never backs down from a fight.” [break][break] One thing he noticed though was the insufferable amount of ladies that had decided to corral them. He did finally see what gym bro meant as four, muscle bound men parted the sea of women and entered the court on the opposite side. Xibalba’s eyebrows twitched in disgust as they made different poses, bulking all kinds of muscle, sending the woman in the crowd into a frenzy of shrills and screams. [break][break] “ Nope. Not doing that. Stop it, you hormone crazed bitches.” Xibalba grumbled under his breath.[break][break] One of the muscle bound brutes stopped posing and noticed the glare that Xibalba was throwing at them. “ You’re supposed to be our next opponent? HA!” He slapped his musclebound thigh and pointed at Xibalba. “ Aren’t you supposed to be at home for the aged? You want to challenge us by yourself, bro?" [break][break] Xibalba sighed. He was definitely old and he could sit down from all this bullshit. So the only thing that would make him forget the pain and sorrow of surviving was the edge, or thrill in his words, of the fight. It hadn’t been too long since he had loaded into this messed up, flipped upside down world, where things of fantasy and myth had taken up and distorted what Xibalba required off a fight. Sure the thrill was there, but there wasn’t any rawness to it and there were far more wordsーno, wait, rules was the proper term. There were far too many rules and it disgusted Xibalba how everything was so… game-like. [break][break] “ Truly the only things that haven’t changed are you, my friend…” With that he took a swing at the bottle of wine he had picked up at a liquor store. “ France still has the best alcohol in the world!” [break][break] It was a rainy day in Paris, obscuring what should have been a lovely, scarlet sunset. Instead, the sky decided to paint the clouds a deep, crimson red. A few scattered rain drops would soon escalate to a downright downpour, but Xibalba did not care to get wet. He stood in the empty streets of Paris, near the Eiffel Tower, where the open area was vast and wide. The red wine had dripped from his chin, down his neck and into his white polo shirt, staining it red, as if blood had splashed. Over it, he wore a decorated straight jacket that hung by his shoulders and black sleek pants with leather shoes. His one and only blade, a Tulwar named “The Hated One” hung from his belt, neatly inside his scabbard.[break][break] “ Fuck! I want to draw my blade and fight…” He screamed at nobody, hoping the gods of the underworld would answer his curses. “ I wonder if Paris has any good fucking swordsmen left…?” [break][break]

He was still weaponless, which he cursed but he was glad for the interruption. A fight without a weapon against an unknown entity was not a fight that Xilbalba had enjoyed anyway. [break][break] He was also curious what exactly stole the specter’s attention but like the specter, he hadn’t seen anyone either. Not yet, perhaps. Before he could react in any way possible, he saw another person; a woman, signaling him to move and follow her lead. Now, Xibalba had issues with following any female for the sole reason that anyone with eyes had only a few things in mind for him. They either wanted sex and bare his children, or they wanted his head (either of the two) and he had learned enough about them to keep his distance. No one touched his blade but himself. [break][break] “ Oh, fuck it.” He whispered under his breath, and quickly jumped into a sprint to catch up to the woman. “ I’m kind of glad I’m not alone in this shithole, wherever this is.” He replied and spat on the ground in disgust. [break][break] He noticed several things about the stranger, and one of things he noticed was how young she was in comparison to an old man like him but she looked like she was someone in the know. “ Say, what are we exactly doing here and do you know what that fucking thing was?” [break][break] He paused for a moment and gave the woman a grin. “ Sorry. He wasn’t expecting the monster to sound so… feminine, yet oddly weird. As if they had something in their mouth that they couldn’t figure out how to remove. Stranger yet, the response had received dared to challenge him to draw out his weapon. If this monster knew no fear, he would cut it up until they did. [break][break] The rattling of chains told Xibalba that whatever was coming was doing it rather slowly. He took one step forward to make his battle stance but his right arm grasped nothing but thin air. The old man was weaponless and had just daunted an unknown enemy towards him. He had another blade in his pants but that would do absolutely nothing for his situation. [break][break] “ Fuck!” He exclaimed in rage. “ To be weaponless at this time! Curses! Damn it all to fucking hell!!” [break][break] He looked around him for anything to use as a weapon. Anything sharp or blunt. There was a lot of debris but throwing rocks wasn’t his best suite. “Where are all the fucking guns?!” He roared, hoping someone with what he needed, or wanted, would come by and just drop it all on his hands. [break][break] The rattling noises reached their full and then stopped. But Xibalba was too busy searching for something long and hard to grab on. The specter had the gait of a Frenchman, but there was nothing of man from this ghostly apparition. From the eerie glow of its bones, to the hollow of its eyes, this monster craved that which it could not have, but others possessed. Its otherworldly instinct drove it blindly to consume, hoping to end this eternal curse. [break][break] Its swipe was slow, but deadly to the touch, and soon Xibalba would suffer the same fate if fate did not intervene. [break][break]

More often than not, it would be the blood of his enemies, and sometimes he’d just hallucinate the blood of his friends. The doctor that had diagnosed him with PSTD may have joined those hallucinations but he had held back for the sake of the people that he would heal, and thus Xibalba saw him better alive than dead. [break][break] Right now, however, he couldn’t tell between reality and hallucination. [break][break] “ Is this what hell looks like or have I been drinking too…?” [break][break] He rubbed his head to clear the headache away, but instead a holographic message popped up. It flicked between green to red. Whatever it was, Xibalba noted that the hallucinations were getting weirder and weirder. [break][break] “ Class, huh?” He looked over the message and could only under the gist. “ I don’t care for classes. I wasn’t a good learner anyways.” [break][break] Xibalba tried to wave the message box away, but instead his hand grazed one of three class options. Even though he tried to wave it away, it forced Xibalba to read it anyway. “ Malice Collector…? What the fuck is that supposed to be?” [break][break] His voice echoed throughout the still, stagnant air. Now that he saw his surroundings with a clearer mind, he recognized the bars, the light barely filtering on his cell. He was incarcerated in jail. Had one of the opposing enemies caught him? “ No fucking way…” Xibalba stood up and kicked the door of the cell open, sending a cacophony of banging metal all across the emptiness. “ So noisy!” He said, clicking his tongue, and kicking the door away. [break][break] Another message popped up. It said…[break][break] Escape. [break] “ No one tells me what to do. You have to a have fucking lousy warden to keep the cell of a prisoner unlocked!” His voice was hoarse but with grit and power. As the echoes died down, Xibalba picked up strange sounds. Rasping and then a humming somewhere in this jailhouse. He wasn’t alone.[break][break] “ Hey!” He shouted, his body tenses and ready to fight. “ Come out or my blade will be coming out of your ass!” [break][break]
