At being mentioned, she came back to in a short daze while her mind started to replay events that had been happening up to this point. What were they doing again? Why were they picking up presents? [break][break] Oh, right...It was Christmas time with Dalton and Jin. [break][break] "Fine." [break][break] Soyeon replied quickly and looked to Noel. She gave a beaming smile to ensure that nobody would need to worry about her. Maybe a bit too much. "I'm fine. I just lost myself in a thought is all." [break][break] Don't let them know. This isn't their business. [break][break] Their present collection had been so rudely interrupted by a couple of elves that had been rushing at the group from afar. Dalton and Jin were both under attack while Soyeon watched from afar. She detested not being able to fight directly but leaped to aid Dalton out of instinct. The boy took care of his attacker in no time flat as she breathed a sigh of relief. [break][break] Jin seemed to do much of the same and led them to the side sections of the arena. Were they going to spend the mission being attacked by killer elves? It certainly seemed so. [break][break] "Something Christmas spirit these guys have." Soyeon remarked as one crawled from behind them and latched onto her leg. She yelped and swung one present box at the creature out of trying to shoo it away. The resulting sonic boom sent the elf flying high away while the box unfolded itself to reveal... [break][break] "A bat." she said incredulously. Dalton cowered behind her in a way Hana used to when she had a nightmare. SO it was only natural that she continued to coax the boy down. It wasn't too becoming of a boy his age to be to timid and shy, but every customer was welcome to a hug in her eyes. [break][break] It was just part of being a mother herself that made her default to this. [break][break] He whispered to her while the other man spoke up about not knowing each other. It was pretty true, given how neither of the three of them seemed to know what was going on. Soyeon would once again, have to speak up for Dalton and herself but thought nothing of it. He had his troubles and all she could do was to help him get through the,. [break][break] "No, I've never met him before in my life." she whispered back just as their friend stood up and declared this as not being a dream. It could have fooled her though. Usually her drunk dreams were just as vivid as this one, save for the hangover that came after them. [break][break] "I'm Soyeon, and this is Dalton." Her hand playing with the other boy motioned to the smaller, more meek individual, "It's a pleasure to meet you." [break][break] Their current status wasn't the best update to get. No weapons and no items. It was a recipe for disaster waiting to happen! This stupid dream was being a real stickler tonight. She fussed over checking her own inventory before a piercing roar came from nearby. Just like the ones in her RPGs. It was definitely a boss monster or a dragon! [break][break] Although a bit let down at being told that they weren't off to slay it, Soyeon did understand why. They weren't well equipped to go picking fights, and the mission wasn't to do that. So she watched as their guide went around the corner with a smile. [break][break] "Dalton, sweetie, everything's gunna be okay~" Soyeon smiled and let go of him while following in the steps of the other person. "Think of it as...an adventure!"[break][break] She caught up with Jin and dragged Dalton along if needed. They had to pass this little mission before anything happened to them! So exciting! What a nice dream this was with such company. The real Dalton was going to love her story on this one! Unlike the previous time they had interacted, she was more sober and able to fuction well now that she hadn't drank in a while. This would be a cake walk anyway! [break][break] She held onto the gift that Dalton had given her and gave it a once over. But she was just as cheerful as ever to get started. "I'll always help you out! Now let's go get those presents to...San..." [break][break] She faltered, looking at a stray teddy bear lying across from them whose button eyes stared up at the sky. They were those overly expensive plushies that did a million different things. But the fur color, the patch on the belly, and even the collector's tag on the ear were a match. [break][break] It was the very one she bought for Hana a year ago. [break][break] Soyeon walked over and picked it up wearing an expression of pain. She clutched the toy in her hand with shaking hands as a brief moment of clarity came to her. The thoughts and worries she had been pushed back since she woke up in here. All other sounds didn't matter to her. Not Dalton, not Jin, not even how other presents smacked into her head could shake her from this. [break][break] It was a reminder of the failure of a mother she was. [break][break] After some time standing in place and staring at the toy, Soyeon snapped back into reality. "Hm?" Her head beat like a drum while putting the stuffed bear underneath her arm where it would stay. "It's this dream again! Except it's some weird maze instead of a medieval looking town." She said it as a matter of fact and seemed proud of it. If allowed to ramble on about the topic, she could have been even more drunk, at least until somebody familiar came. [break][break] She heard Dalton's voice as her mind went on autopilot. Within seconds of him tackled her and shaking her around, she was ready. Soyeon carefully stroked the boy's hair with the gentle hand a mother could possess. Dream or no dream, her instincts couldn't be ignored. [break][break] "Aw, Dalton. There there." Any hint of a hangover was gone as she stood up and began to work on calming him down. Even her aloof tone had become more guiding and soft as if she was speaking to a loved one. "It'll be okay! I'm just dreaming is all."[break][break] She coddled Dalton some more before a screen popped up in front of her face. It was all RPG-like that made her fawn over how awesome it was in here! Soyeon read the message in full from its sender, Earth-chan. They seemed pretty mysterious, so maybe this was just some kind of weird Dragon Quest induced dream! [break][break] "Survive for an hour and find our way out of a maze before a monster comes to eat us, huh?" Soyeon thought to herself with a hand on Dalton's shoulder. Maybe it was for his sake or hers, it was hard to tell sometimes. But if there was one thing this irresponsible woman knew, it was knowing when to step up to challenge! [break][break] "Let's game on! I'll get us some loot and on with this dream! Right Dalton?" With so many items and skills being handed out to players all over this new world, it was inevitable that there would be a few duds, or at least mismatched recipients. Soyeon's XChange allows players to trade in items and skills they’re not using for coins, or points. Or coin points. Coints.[break][break]
The Coint value of an item or skill varies with their power, and will not be communicated until after the exchange process is completed. Coints are transferred directly to the player’s inventory after they initiate the exchange process with Soyeon. There is no limit to the number of items or skills you can exchange for Coints.[break][break]
Coints can then be spent with Soyeon to create new, more specialized items and skills. The more Coints are used at once, the more powerful the resulting item or skill. More Coints can also be spent to specify some properties of the resulting creation. Items created in this way gain the tag [Minted]. Skills created in this way gain the tag [Guided]. [break][break]

Soyeon's entire being lives for her gaming and tabletop store that's been on the verge of bankruptcy for quite some time. In its prime, this home away from home was nothing short of paradise to her. She wasn't exactly one to enjoy running a business at first, but once she opened her doors for the first month and saw those awaiting faces, she's loved helping others discover their passion for gaming of all types! As people entered the store, she dutifully helped them find what it was that they wanted. Even the most mundane of tasks were done with the upmost of care, be it restocking shelves with newer products, reserving stock in advance for regulars, or seeing to the younger guests. Soyeon felt that, in her store, anybody could be welcomed. [break][break]
She regularly ran events like game nights, midnight releases, and more all for the people she enjoyed serving. It gave her life a purpose and welcomed more into her home. Coints are transferred directly to the player’s inventory after they initiate the exchange process with you. There is no limit to the number of items or skills you can exchange for Coints. Coints can then be spent with you to create new, more specialized items and skills. The more Coints are used at once, the more powerful the resulting item or skill. backstory
Soyeon was one of three children born to a small Korean family that had owned a flower shop passed down from generation to generation. Her father had taken care of the logistics part while Soyeon's mother operated the store for the majority of her career after graduating high school. Her siblings and her had been expected to inherit the shop one day when the time came. It was an idea that had made her dread growing up, as her interests lied in other hobbies, such as gaming. She had been with her older brother's friends one day when they sat down to play an electronic video game that had just realized. The colors and otherworldly pictures popping up on the screen to the young child had captivated her. She whined and begged to play and soon become infatuated with all things gaming! Her parents had criticized her decision to partake in the hobby and were adamant about refusing to buy her a game system, believing it would harm her grades. And so, Soyeon would sate her desires at friends' houses. [break][break]
The lack of digital media had made really losing herself into her games rather difficult as she could only watch in envy as others were able to get the newest mobile consoles. But all was not lost, for one of her friends had introduced her to the world of tabletop! It introduced her to such fantastic worlds and allowed her creative side to flourish in a more conservative household. Her love for all things related to her hobby continued to grow more and more. It was around this time that she began to think about her future after school. Running a flower shop sounded boring, but a gaming shop? [break][break]
Now that was up her alley. [break][break]
Business Life
After she graduated from school, Soyeon worked at the flower shop to gain additional funds while her siblings all went off in different directions. She continued to make promise after promise to her parents to appease them for a bit longer until she was around the age of 25. She met a man named Gavin, who had promised to help her make her dream gaming store that could sell all the things she wanted, and even threw together some money of his own. Their friendship had eventually led to a romance between the two while coming up with enough money. Once she broke the news to her parents, Soyeon walked away and moved away to hopefully brighter futures [break][break]
Gavin and Soyeon settled into a small but cozy apartment where they established the new business of Joystix, a games store that would house Soyeon's hobby shop. The goal was to sell not only video games but tabletop games, card games, and more, as well as trade-ins and the like. The store had its humble roots at a corner store near a more desolate area of the city, but would soon move into a proper storefront as it grew over the coming years. [break][break]
The lovers eloped and soon, the two would stand at the altar with Soyeon expecting when she was just turning 27. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Hana, whom she loved more than anything in the world. The woman shared her love of games and everything with her baby. When not busy serving regular customers, she had been more than happy to watch after Hana during the day shifts. Customers had always enjoyed her welcoming presence as she could make even the most jaded customer feel tended to. The behind the scenes stuff took years to get used to, but they were slowly understanding the ins and outs of business. Tournaments, game nights, events of all kinds were ran regularly! The initial success and comfort of their flagship store had given the ample opportunity to expand. One such location was quite the distance away that Gavin ultimately took over the secondary location. This breakthrough eventually allowed them to expand all across the most of the country. The Joystix brand was a name that anybody could trust for high quality entertainment and community! [break][break]

Tragedy struck as Gavin became the victim of an on hit collision coming home from work one night. The crash had taken a number on them, and sapped the family of their profit. Soyeon spared no expense for his recovery, opening credit lines, borrowing money, anything to help. But it just wasn't enough for Gavin, as he passed away a short day later from his injuries. The debt had wrecked havoc upon the shop's finances, as she couldn't afford to keep the doors running and making money. Out of a sense of community, she continued running Joystix at a net loss until she could no longer do so. [break][break]
The grief had pushed her past her breaking point. She often fell onto alcohol as a way to ignore the pain and try to find some way of saving the business, but to no avail. Hana had been her top priority and she never did anything to endanger her, but money was often tight. Her customers had done their best to offer help and more, but without Gavin, the store seemed more empty. Soyeon seemed less cheery, and the store was without somebody to manage money and stock. Her workspace behind the desk was cluttered and often filled with empty beer bottles or trash from snacking during times she was stressed. [break][break]
