Around her were various computers, all running and seemingly interconnected. She had not seen this many tech in one place, all working, and all seemingly in good shape. [break][break] "It's my class, if you must know. I am able to get all of this working, and supply electricity to technology, because of my class." [break][break] "A non-combat class for a non-combat person. Fair enough." Perhaps this was why she needed another person to do her task. "Now, you had said something about research notes, and a...possible rogue AI?" She asked, eyes looking intently at the woman to glean any sort of ill will. For the most part, the woman looked tired. Tired and in need of a new decorator. [break][break] "There is a research lab close-by. It was why this city was built. A cover-up for the activity that was happening around these parts. I need you to get my research notes within though...it seems one of the robots my team was building has achieved...sentience on its own." The woman paused, before adjusting her glasses. "Retrieve my notes, and I promise to reward you. Both in money and information." [break][break] Hikari nodded. "Help me revive the guard dog at my home, and I will agree to this task." There was a small doorbell to the side, which housed a camera and a red blinking light. So there was power running through this city? These electrical things would not be working otherwise, right? Unless... [break][break] "State your business, please. And don't try anything, you will be electrocuted before you can say 'mama'."[break][break] Hikari turned to the camera and nodded. "You had sent word of this mission, and I answered. My name is Hikari." There was a pregnant pause before the door opened and let Hikari in. She nodded towards the camera, before making her way slowly into the nondescript building. She had been wondering how a scientist could live in this place, possibly alone. Now she had the answer. Electricity. [break][break] Heading up to the highest floor was the only option. And she ascended, she realized that this building, while small, was even smaller inside. It was wedged in-between two larger buildings, and while the place had room inside, every single hallway was blocked by stacks and stacks of furniture. As though someone was actively trying to make the space smaller. Easier to defend. [break][break] "Thank you for responding to my pleas." A voice called out from the top of the staircase. A woman in white robes, haggard-looking, but with determination in her eyes. [break] |

Having spent most of her waking time in Neo-Tokyo has made her less familiar in such a sparsely populated area. The fact that she could not even see anybody in what would be the city centre of the city was unfathomable. Was this area really a dead zone? [break][break] She checked her map and nodded to herself. She was almost to the rendezvous point. [break][break] The buildings around her were half-crumbling, while the vines and trees were slowly overrunning the area. Even the streets were unsafe, its paving having already been torn apart by the undergrowth. Hikari could feel the hum of power in the area, but this power was less magical and more natural. There was some form of energy that made these plants thrive and grow faster than they should. A wild and natural sort of power. [break][break] Those questions will be answered another time. She was focused on traipsing through the crumbled and dying streets, and towards the small building just around the corner. There was nothing indicating that there was life besides those natural to the earth that was present, but Hikari did not doubt the information she got. With a determined look on her face, she made her way towards the low-lying building. [break] |

The buildings were overrun with thicket that has now reclaimed the land. Nature has once again started to dominate this part of the world, and nobody in their right mind would step foot in such a place. Rife with dangerous animals and rumours of deadly AI, it's no wonder that this place has been abandoned by most save for a few. The daring and the foolish. [break][break] She was here for one thing, and one thing only. Information about cybernetics and AI. [break][break] The experience she had recently with the AI mechanoids in her own familial home got to her. She found them very useful when it came to deterring those who thought that her home was easy pickings. As well, she had grown a curiosity about the applicability of such AI in defending safe areas. And she was here because of the woman who might have answers to her questions. [break][break] But first, she must make the trek down into the ruinous city. The woman is holed up in some alcove of sorts. At least, that was what she had been told. The scientist had a mission for her, and in return, she hoped to learn more about AI, and possibly utilize it for her advantage. Hikari noted that the spiders were small, easily dispatched, and certainly not a challenge to her. It was, however, fun in a way. There was no stress of death here, only a job that needed to be done. And it also offered her a way to practice wielding her swords in various ways. Perhaps using them two-handed was the best, but one at a time might work as well, especially if she wanted to use her fan a bit more offensively.

With a sigh, she sheathed Habakiri, and focused on using Murakumo. The sword was sleek, and very much light in her hands. She danced around the small hoard of spiders, glancing blow after blow each of the small spiders. Her fan felt a bit off in her hands, especially since she was so used to her other sword there.

It was then that she felt a strong trembling. "Jonas, Sylvia, I believe we have a larger spider coming our way. Maybe two." She wasn't sure about the numbers, but they certainly will be a bit more challenging. The little ones have come and gone.

"I hope you're feeling alright, Sylvia?" She asked the maid, having seen her slip in her peripheral vision. "Best let me take these spiders head-on while you both support me. Unless you both would like to test your abilities while I hang back? I'm happy to do either." She wanted her guild mates to grow as well, so she was open to being the tertiary line of defense, their support if need be.

They needed to make sure that all of these men and women were incapacitated. None of them could leave, none of them should be allowed to escape the judgment that they have wrought unto themselves. [break][break] With a quick flourish of her blades, their blades glinting from the fluorescent lights above, Hikari moved forward. Her fan flicked left and right, controlling both Murakumo and Habakiri in incapacitating two of the men who were facing her. The last one had been holding what looked to be a gun towards her. Or was it a water gun? The sinister smile, now wiped away with fear, only told Hikari that this woman was not someone she should be wary of. [break][break] "Will you surrender, miss? Or shall I..." The woman trembled slightly, eyes wide as she seemed to think about lowering her gun. It was her face that told her many things, secrets unraveled, and cowardice took hold. But before the woman could even surrender, the groaning of her comrades roused her. "I see..." Hikari sighed as the woman held her gun- water gun, aloft. [break][break] Hikari flicked her fan, and before the first blast could be had, Daitsuren smacked the woman on the nape of her neck with its hilt. It knocked her out immediately. [break][break] She turned to Dee Dee, who seemed to be done with what she was doing. "Dee Dee, I believe the next floor is the last. I can sneak upstairs and find out more information about the floor if you think that's a good idea?" She could sneak and out without fail, she knew. Especially with her ability to teleport. A high ceiling was what she was expecting, especially since the layout of the building looked almost warehouse-like. A huge penthouse with high vaulted ceilings were almost a given. But she would make the decision depending on what Dee Dee thinks is best. She was her teammate after all. [break] |

Perhaps spending time with people like Dee Dee and Hana were getting to her psyche. For a moment, her blade was ready to slice into the man's throat. Instead, she backhanded the man and knocked the hilt of her sword to his forehead, making sure he wouldn't be getting up soon. [break][break] A sound made her look back, and immediately, she got to dodging. Weaving left and right, the woman who was attacking her seemed almost too overconfident at the start, before their shock started overriding their confident smirk. Hikari snapped her fingers, and immediately, Murakumo and Habakiri sliced through the weapon clean, and then knocked her from behind, causing what most likely will be the worst concussion the woman will face in her lifetime. She might not be aiming to kill, but she certainly was not taking it easy on these people. [break][break] Looking around, she found herself staring at the other members of the gang knocked out courtesy of Dee Dee and the gang. She smiled at them before flicking her fan open. "We have company, though we should head up as soon as possible to stop them from preparing too much, don't you agree?" She was still flying, her feet having never touched the ground this whole time. "Let me lead. Follow close, but stay hidden. You'll know when to strike." After all, Hikari planned on having all the attention. [break][break] She rushed upstairs to reveal five more enemies on the second landing, all of them ready and waiting. So much so that when she first appeared, an axe flew past her, hitting the wall behind her in a thud. She wasted no time, her menacing aura only made her enemies look at her in fear as she disappeared! [break][break] Shadowless Step, a very useful skill. Hikari appeared behind the group who were so confused that they were left gaping at each other. Hikari took advantage and immediately let Murakumo and Habakiri slam into the closest too, blunt end first so that they wouldn't draw too much blood, only enough to knock them out and have them unable to move properly. With all of the men now facing Hikari, this would be the best moment for Dee Dee to strike! [break] |

She steeled herself, and smiled. [break][break] "I shall take the front then. You've got my back." She let Kairi coil into her arms, before nodding to her summon. "Kairi, best stay behind me, cover my back with Dee Dee and her friends." Hikari will take front and center, before walking slowly and deliberately towards the building. Three stories, which means they needed to clear three floors, and the boss is probably on the third floor. [break][break] Once she got to five meters of the building, she immediately manifested black wings from her back, lifting herself up in the air. Pointing both of her swords forward, she rushed into the door, breaking and splintering it into little pieces. The crash sent waves into the entrance as she immediately took stock of those inside. [break][break] Five people, two by the door and three by the staircase seated around a table playing what looks to be cards. She sneered at all of them, their faces covered by their arms as the dust slowly settled. "Say your prayers." She whispered, still hovering over them with her wings carrying her, before rushing towards the first with both Murakumo and Habakiri, dealing the first strike in this fight. [break] |

Perhaps it was the type of items the woman seemed to be getting? Or maybe it was the woman's choice to dress like so. She liked the colours, though it certainly was not Hikari's style. She smiled nonetheless. [break][break] "Dee Dee, you look quite fashionable. Colourful, and cheerful." Like the woman's personality, at least. Perhaps that was it. Hikari knew her personality was not the most colourful. Some might call it grim, really. "I don't think we'll be fighting against strong enemies, but certainly there will be many of them, which is why it's this difficulty." Acknowledging the B ranking of the mission. [break][break] She gazed towards the building and nodded. "We can go in gun's blazing, taking them by surprised. Or we can sneak in and take them out quietly. Though..." Hikari nodded and bowed towards Jonas slightly, "Thank you." She knew that the people whom she would meet and work with are probably hoarding their level-up tokens. Or have used them already. Perhaps Jonas would have a better time finding people for her. It would be good to stock up on those when she can, after all.

At the arrival of Sylvia and her maids, Hikari smiled. "I hope your accommodations have been decent so far, Miss Sylvia. I hope that we can secure my property soon so that you and your fellow maids might have a more familiar setting to live in." Her home was currently being looked into by Hana and herself, hopefully turning it into their branch. There were points involved, as well as manpower. Both of which they were going to need to be hands-on about.

When Jonas started explaining their task, Hikari listened and nodded. The man knew what he was doing, and was definitely more confident about himself. She was glad to see such growth in her guild mates and hoped that she might see more of them at higher-ranked missions sooner rather than later.

"That's a good plan." Hikari let both Murakumo and Habakiri unsheathe beside her, before she followed Jonas into the home. When Jonas started to play his song to attract the spiders, Hikari smiled softly. "A good tune. A sad tune." She whispered, before she noticed that water was now surrounding them. She saw in a small window that her SPD stat was boosted even further. "You seem to hold many surprises, Mister Jonas." She nodded at the young man, before turning her attention back at their task. When the first spiders appeared, Murakumo and Habakiri were immediately upon them.

Hikari marveled at the amount of swords that were now floating alongside her. While Shotsuren, Daitsuren, and Kenmyoren were constant companions, with her new item attached to both of her prized swords, now both Murakumo and Habakiri were also floating alongside her, not needing her to hold them at all. No, they now moved at her behest, and they were as lethal as they were before, if not more.

The woman smiled to herself. It was a soft smile, one that was becoming more regular with each level she gained. Though, she knew she could do better. Hana's words had struck her since she had last spoken to her guild master. Perhaps it was time to gain levels and work on her defenses. That was a priority, right?

Sighing to herself, she stepped through the portal to reveal Paris. It was good that she was taking missions. Leveling up has become more and more taxing when it comes to points, and she simply could not fathom having to use so many points just to level up. She had been blessed to have gotten the five free level-ups, which she might use later on. Perhaps she can find someone else to buy the tokens from? The Christmas Event was still going on, after all, and she must not be the only one who rolled something good from it.

"Jonas." She called to her guildmate as she approached. Kairi appeared out of nowhere, once again draping herself on Hikari, covering most of the woman in its body. The Angelic Serpent preened and nodded toward Jonas at Hikari's greeting. "Kairi says hello." As she approached, she found herself asking, "Did you, perhaps, gain the free level-up tokens from the Christmas Event that Earth-chan has going right now? Or know of someone who might want to sell theirs?" Hikari opened up her inventory and nodded, "I'm looking to purchase more..." She trailed off, before looking around them. "Perhaps after we take care of this mission." Hikari added, before looking around for Sylvia.

When Dee Dee was carried off, Hikari almost ran after them. But instead, she waited, and looked to her companions. If they weren't in too much of a panic, then she shouldn't be too. After all, they were more experienced at this than she was. Hikari was here to learn and observe, and perhaps delve deeper into the happenings of this world.

Enigma's words as they prepared to leave made Hikari pause a moment. It made sense, higher leveled people should have ways to travel, especially flight. Hikari herself had a dress that made it possible for her to do so, but in a limited capacity. And so, when Hana reached out a hand, Hikari took it.

"A dress of mine let's be move in the air, but only for a limited time." She apologetically nodded in thanks to Hana. "Perhaps it is something I should consider later on." Another thought for another day. For now, they were following as close as they can to Dee Dee and the fairies.

When they arrived, Hikari was immediately taken aback by the natural beauty surrounding them. She looked around, amazed at how nature can be so captivating. She was happy that the fairies were at least friendly. "Oh, you've met their leaders before?" She looked towards Hana, and shook her head, "I've only met demons in my time, and they're not a friendly bunch." Hikari remembered their encounter, and now thinking about it, perhaps she should try to investigate them more at a later date. Especially since it seems like she's gotten aspects of the species attached to her now with her horns. "May I..." She reached out, letting one of the fairies onto her palm as it looked at her inquisitively.

Thinking it over for a moment, Hikari looked towards Kurai and smiled. "I could really use a good bowl of ramen when we finish this." She grinned at her brother. "Perhaps we can find a ramen stand. Like the good days when we snuck out." Those were truly the good days, when they escaped their nannies and guards to enjoy life in some fashion. Just teenagers doing teenager things.

Looking towards Hana, she acknowledged her guild leader's question before thinking it over. "Father always kept his office in the west wing." Hikari pointed towards the far side, its traditional design marred by the futuristic self-dimming windows. "He did that to get away from us kid- I mean, to make sure that he kept his privacy." That was a bad slip-up.

"Ah, in any case, I'm ready to get this done." She looked towards Kurai and smiled. "You're more than welcome to join us for ramen as well, Hana. If you're free, of course." Hikari was being polite, and of course, getting to know her guild leader more might be a good idea regardless.

When they got to the centre of the home. Hikari pointed right. "This way." She let Hana lead, her swords already ready as she took up the rear. They were vulnerable on two fronts, and she trusted Hana to keep the front end while she could take up the rear where they might get ambushed by god knows what.

In a blink of an eye, the fighting was done. Hikari lifted her swords, before resheathing them once more. She looked towards Hana and Dee, before nodding. It seems that she had been correct. Hana coming into the fray with her music-based abilities made the fight that much easier. She knew that her specialty was one-on-one combat, which is to be expected with her swords. It just amazed her how much her guild master can do. A true inspiration!

Speaking of, she walked towards Dee Dee, grabbing the gifts left behind. She took however much she can and placed them into her inventory, while letting Kairi rest around her. Hikari beamed with pride as Kairi seemed to be handling herself well. Her summon had been flying around and supporting her team mates. Some of the elves had the idea to try and yank her down from her flying state, but to no avail. Every time they try to pounce high, she flew even higher and shot at the reaching elf with her blast, causing it to crash down.

Her attention towards her summon, however, was cut short by a few elves heading towards her. It seems they had not learned their lesson. But before Hikari would engage, she noticed them start to dance. To music. She looked towards Hana, whom she knew was the one doing this, and nodded. It seems her guild leader was in the field.

Leaving them to her guild master, Hikari pounced to the side. More than a handful of elves were doing their best to not engage her. She smiled, knowing that it must be her Halo that was causing them to pause. She took advantage and struck with both of her swords, taking out another one. She sent Daitsuren forward, flung by her hand as it found its mark, striking another elf.

Spinning around, she found herself staring at the reindeer at the centre. Dee Dee and her summons were furiously fighting, and she knew Hana was more than likely going to dive into the fray sooner or later. With a grin, she rushed forward, her dark wings still carrying her forward, her feet never touching the floor. "Let me see how strong this reindeer is..." She spoke out, before whirling with her two swords.
