They were too carefree here. They looked to be enjoying themselves, being rambunctious, and not caring about anything in the world. These five were all armed, and yet they didn't look like they ever saw combat at all. No, they looked more like new players than anything.

And Johnny was the ringleader. Charismatic, and exuding a charm that easily captivated those around him, Hikari watched from a distance as he showed himself to be the de facto leader of this small merry band of thieves. She had to stop herself from jumping down and taking them all. No, she had told Dee Dee she would only gather information about their target, and that was all she would do.

Instead, she looked at their patterns. It looks like they go to a bar close by, rundown, but certainly, a spot where they all got drunk. What was worse was the fact that people from all over seemed to arrive at the same time as Johnny. And she recognized their garb as those worn by the one's Dee Dee and her had confronted. So THIS was their meeting area. Not only did she figure out the time and place, but also the best way to get rid of this problem once and for all.

Hikari bowed towards Dee Dee, a small smile gracing her serene face. "You must not worry for me, Miss Dee Dee. I do not enjoy this. Killing is not something anybody should enjoy." She acquiesced. "It is, however, a fact. I have come to terms with it, especially when it is my life against another's. I do not enjoy it, but that doesn't mean I will hold back when it is my life, or the lives of those I care about, that's at stake." She had conviction, and the will to go through the worst. But she would not be corrupted. How can one be corrupted when they themselves are already corrupt?

"Do be careful out there, Dee Dee." She dropped the "miss", not realizing it until afterwards. "I shall do my best in this reconnaissance of mine, and you shall do your best in whatever it is you need to plan for. We will, however, be successful with this mission." Hikari had little doubt of that.

The lights were now dimming, and Hikari was not one to be caught out late in this unfamiliar territory. "Shall we both head to the town? Perhaps we can share a meal before we head off our separate ways?"

Instead, she focused on slowly gliding down. She decided to touch down just above the rest, keeping herself balanced on a fallen beam that served as one of the foundations of this side of the building. It was solid and didn't move at all when she had touched down. Judging by its position, it was one of the few things here she could trust not to break down. [break][break] She made sure to start going through the packets, keeping in mind the dates on them. Expired coffee might still be drinkable, but they were not up to par when it comes to quality. And Hikari was not one to do a mission half-arsed. No, she would do it right, especially since she would probably be one of the ones who would be drinking this coffee they found. [break][break] As she finalized her pickings, putting them into her inventory, she looked towards the old man with a serene look. "No. I quite prefer being nice. You just bring out the worst in people, which is a talent in and of itself." She turned her attention away, making Shotsuren float to her side and using the sword as a platform to leap up. She then waved the sword forward, sending it crashing to the ground, exposing the protruding spikes that were concealed beneath delicate rubble. "Do be careful."[break] |

She could see the movements first. These people were certainly not the smartest bunch around. The boards they used to cover up the windows were just that, boards. Therefore, when it shifts, especially as the weather gets colder or hotter, sometimes cracks can form. And from one of these cracks, Hikari could see shadows moving back and forth.

Hikari didn't move a muscle. Instead, she checked the time. It seems that these people were night owls. Or at least, they were more active during the night. Hikari did not spot any movements in the morning, nor in the early and late afternoon. Perhaps this was for a specific reason. After all, to be a thief, one works best during the night. Perhaps this was one of those scenarios. They would hunt and prowl when people would least be able to identify them.

Her patience paid off, however. As she began to settle in for a long night, she found the front door slowly opening. It then slowly revealed five people, one of whom was a boisterous man who seemed to be too happy for his own good. He was loud, obnoxious, and seemed to be carrying too many weapons for his own good. That must be Johnny, she assumed. And when his companions shouted his name in their drunken stupor, her assumptions were proven true.

Her quick movements spared little to no effect on anything she touched. In fact, she wasn't even touching any of the surface anymore. She was gliding, Murakumo's sheathed form providing the cloud covering that was now obscuring her. It was one of the reasons why she had started tuning out from the old man, with him seemingly not knowing what she was doing, what she was capable of, nor bothering to look up to see her gliding without touching anything at all. There was a reason why the mission was dangerous, and she would certainly not bet on her life like that. [break][break] "I suggest we start looking for the coffee. I find myself growing tired of you by the minute." She looked towards the old man with little emotion. "I certainly hope you will pull your share of the weight in this mission soon." Hikari added, before turning her attention away once more. [break][break] There! She found a stack of fallen shelves that had brown packets strewn all over and around it. She had seen those packs before, and knew what they were instantly. Hikari glided towards them, intending to scoop up the packets. She did not trust the floor of the warehouse, nor the structural integrity of the walls. As demonstrated by the old man, and her own investigations prior to starting this mission, trusting this warehouse's structural integrity would be the death of her. [break] |

As she got to the top of the building, Hikari found herself staring at the building just across. It looked to be abandoned, but it certainly was far from that. No, this was the base of the man known as "Johnny". She took note of the surrounding areas, trying to find nooks and crannies that would be useful for an ambush, finding so many that she didn't even bother to count. Ambushing someone was easy in this terrain. The hard part was finding the proper time to do so.

That was why she was here, after all.

She took her stance, leaning on a broken pillar just out of sight. She could see the building, and all the boarded up windows which made it look like it was rundown and abandoned. What most knew of this place was that there were bad people prowling the area. What they didn't know was that these people were low levels who built up a reputation. They were bullies, and they were targeting the weak. She would have none of that.

She turned to the old man, "I had thought that you had the decency to come prepared with at least mission information. After all, you are the senior and therefore considered wiser between us."[break][break] She wouldn't bother introducing herself to him. She did not feel the need to, nor did his attitude make her want to. Instead, she followed in, eyes peeled as she searched for the coffee. Hikari shrugged, "I can do the reconnaissance. I can find their base, and I can make sure that we find out the times they would be leaving their base." A raid would not be good for them. A raid meant that they needed to use too many resources for far too many risks. "We should hit them when they least expect it, where they have little defenses, and have no hole they can hide under."

"There truly is no 'doing this right'. Any plan we make will have holes. And those holes can make or break everything. The best we can do is plan for the best." That was how Hikari lived her life, after all. "There will always be those who will try to follow in their footsteps. The best we can do is to eliminate the threats, and hope for the best." She shrugged then, the inevitability of a cycle is always present, after all.

She turned her attention up, and once more towards the town in the horizon. "I don't think the splinter cells will be a big issue. They will cause trouble, but perhaps the system will recognize their threat. It is possible..." Hikari looked towards the sky now, as though trying to catch the attention of the system itself. "In any case, we must look at the big picture first. If we distract ourselves with the possible outcomes, futures that have not come to pass yet."

Hikari turned her attention toward the building she was planning on ascending. The tower was about four stories tall, and certainly very abandoned. From what she had observed so far, everything in this area was mostly cleared of people. This was the part of town where people seem to actively avoid. It was as though they knew something was going on here, and they did not want to get too involved.

She scanned the area. It was more or less a block just on the outskirts of the city. If one were to not be observant, they wouldn't even notice this small patch of abandoned buildings. And yet, this was where her intel had taken her.

Hikari started her ascent upwards. She had elected to take the staircase inside the building, making sure to use the one that was closest to the edge of the building facing away from her quarry. Each step she took made her feel even more excited. She knew what she was getting into, and she knew that this was important work. Every single thing she sees during this reconnaissance would be documented and sent to Dee Dee.

Better yet, she was sure that the system was trying to prank her. Then again, this was a non-issue. After all, Hikari was not one to take things too seriously from those she does not deem to be important in her life. Words are like wind, if you don't let it affect you, it will pass you by without any issue. She certainly did not need to prove anything to this old man. [break][break] "We'll be in your care." She bowed to the old man, her manners still present even in times like these. Hikari followed in step, before slowly moving ahead as she used all of her senses to see if there were any threats nearby. Their luck seems to be in abundance, since there were no real threats, and those wild animals that would have attacked them were seemingly cowed by Hikari's stare. Her subclass' passive sometimes leaked through without her knowing. [break][break] They eventually arrived at the front of a dilapidated warehouse. Inside was the coffee, although their entrance, and the building itself, seems to have collapsed on itself. "Stand back." Hikari warned, before unsheathing Murakumo in one swoop and cutting through the rusty metallic doors that barred their way. The various debris were chunked as well, providing a clean path in. Hikari nodded at the points that Dee Dee made, although was, herself, more adamant with her position. "We know, from our interaction with the previous group, that their boss was in Seoul. That's a great place to start." She paused, "And from our previous conversations, it's easy to recall that this "Johnny", their leader, is estimated to be level ten, give or take five levels in my opinion. There was really no true strength in this, only the wanton chaos that seeped through these people's minds, making them believe that they are untouchable in this new world that still continues to lack order.

She shrugged, "The mere fact that we stumbled upon this information during a low level mission means that these people are probably trying to lay low. They certainly are not capable of challenging those who have higher levels. Thugs." She spat the word as though it was sin. "Petty thieves, though more organized. That's what they are. A budding group looking to profit from this lawlessness. They must be cut from the root or else more would grow. If we show them that this type of action is not tolerable, then few would dare continue down the path." Hikair paused, sighing, "And those that do? Well, they're the ones we truly need to watch out for."

The walking, the shopping, and the cafe's which lined the upscale streets she used to visit. She remembered those very well, and she longed for those days during her worst nights here in this new world. And yet, she would not change anything in her life right now. Well, mayhaps better accommodation, but then the guild accommodation was certainly up to par. [break][break] She stood close by the city's outskirts, now waiting for her partner for this mission. It was simple enough, really. And she had done this once before. The difference is that this time, this mission would just be slightly easier. She had been forewarned by the quest giver that in this case, the Parisian coffee suppliers were injured because of some falling debris within the facility they had been scavenging in. What the woman said was true, of course. All of it. It made Hikari stop and think for a moment as to how they might go about things. But then again, her sword was all she needed. That, and perhaps one other item. The system had not been too kind to her recently, having been provided with items that weren't truly things that she cared for. And yet, she would not complain. After all, where did complaining get a person? Nowhere.

Nodding to herself, she responded, "Oh, I was thinking of disguising myself. I have to be honest, I have a knack for not taking damage." This was thanks to her new sword, and the fact that she was speedy. Also, there was her class core to consider. "Then again, I was hoping to possibly gather more intel about this "boss" of theirs, and perhaps corner them alone. Would you be up for something like that?" She asked, her ideas already forming as to how she might gather intel. Espionage was something new to her, but she certainly is excited for the prospect.

She turned her attention to her system screen for a moment. "I should be gaining some points soon, and perhaps new items along with it. I can't guarantee anything, unfortunately." The system wills what it wills. "If we go with my plan of isolating the leader, then we won't likely need support from others. We two should be fine. I am not about to fight their whole gang, after all."

Hikari pondered what Dee Dee said for a moment. But of course, they needed to prepare. And the fact that Dee Dee was taking this seriously was a good sign. Hikari herself knew that this was not going to be a walk in the park. Of course, there was the fact that the ring leader was more than likely not going to be as strong as they were. And yet, the ring leader would have his lackeys, and even with their current strength, taking on multiple opponents might not be the best idea at all.

She nodded, "An ambush can be set-up easily. Perhaps a wandering player could stumble upon outside the leader's hideout, innocent, and uncertain." Hikari smiled, "That would be a role I would be happy to play, if you are alright with that." After all, there was the fact that she had abilities that certainly can easily have her adapt to any situation. "It certainly isn't a problem for me." She reiterated, hoping that Dee Dee does not think she is forcing herself into the role.

"As for getting ready..." She paused, holding her sword aloft. "Mayhaps a few levels would not be too bad. Item-wise, I feel very confident." Murakumo had served her well recently, and she was sure that her weapon would continue to serve her well in the future.

Hikari wasn't surprised that the woman had a weapon of the same caliber as her own. After all, she seemed to be well-versed in this new world, and would have the capacity to find such a weapon. Or perhaps be lucky with the system. In any case, she was happy that Akane was well-equipped. This world should not be taken lightly, after all.

As Hikari stepped through the portal, the first thing she saw was shadow. And then mist. And then the clearing of the mist to reveal what looked to be various spirits milling about. They were mere wisps, but Hikari could see the outline of their body, and of their faces. Every single one of hem looked to be in agony. But for what reason?

She peered forward, realizing that the darker shade just beyond were two demonic creatures, whose malice was pouring out of them in waves. Hikari could feel it from this distance, and the distaste grew out of her. They were easily distinguishable, with horns that protruded from their forehead, and wings as dark as night. They could have been mistaken as angels, if their wings were feather-white and they lacked the horns.

"It seems we have stumbled upon something." Hikari whispered to the now emerging Akane. "Is this a ritual perhaps?" She pointed towards the pair of demons facing what looked to be an obelisk. "I can feel their malice even from here." It was intoxicating, yet wrong.
