It may never feel real, the reality they all faced but at least London was a SAFE ZONE. It meant he could sit in his feelings quietly and focused on daydreaming of what could be and what was. He still made sure his phone was charged, his saved spotify songs and air pods were his only hold on something that felt so fleeting. It showed in the way that Rika looked at him with sheer nerves at his gun like his first thought was to kill him. Fox could be a bit prickly at times but it was that at its core that still pangs every time people registered what it meant for him to have his gun equipped. " Nodding at her decision to close the gap between the two of them, soon-to-be monster slayers. ” And i’m glad you think me to be useful. ” He chuckled back, at least with this new apocalyptic hell there was a sense of extreme honesty that removed the societal need for complete niceties and consideration for feelings. It was when he could hear these behemoths in the sky, each one landing to be seven feet tall and now surrounded by the bats who then screeched out a mighty ear-piercing sound and caused Fox to fall to the ground for a second, unaccustomed to such a powerful blast. ” We can do it, f***.” He cursed out gripping his rifle and quickly setting the charge to ICE and sent out a HEAVY SHOT at the were-bat directly in front of him while still somewhat on the floor hoping to catch at least three of them total in the ricochet burst of it all. [break][break]
” Anyone got any suggestions?? If so, i’m all ears!” He pushes himself up and readies himself to make a run for it if they were going to try to kite these beasts. [break][break]

But for now, he needed to get out safely and Jemma and this man named Henri would be their best bet to do something like that. ” It did, Elemental Gunner, pretty fitting. “ Their eyes were still peeled on where in the world these monsters were coming from until the two metal-clanging robots appeared in their vision and Henri, like someone whose down this before, quickly made his way like an ink samurai slicing against one of the robots equipped with a chainsaw. A few people walked past the Gothica portal where he was standing but no one chimed in or walked through and after a few moments passed, Fox had been getting discouraged until Sami appeared first. [break][break]
Fox tried, he really did when he heard the voice of someone looking to venture into Gothica that sounded promising until he turned and was nearly at eyesight with someone who looked, perhaps, like he had recently gone through it. Using his best-guarded smile, Fox let the initial judgments leave his mind as he nodded at the other’s question. ” You’d be right, mate.I’m mostly looking to explore Gothica, looking for a few people but figured strength in numbers?” [break][break]
The moment broke for a section when a darker-skinned woman appeared with a bit of an attitude and what seemed like a cocky attitude. Fox couldn’t help but bite his bottom lip slightly at the sass from her gaze trying to size him up, he loved a woman with that fire within them, but this was a life-or-death game and he didn’t have the time to enjoy the thrills like he once did. ” I’m Fox, and you are? ” He looked over at Sami at the introduction of Miyah. [break][break]
” Yeah, it’s a single round but I think there are mods I can put on for more once we get strong enough to unlock that kind of stuff. ” And she liked guns? Woof. ” You wanna check it out, I’m all for sharing information. Maybe there’s something you can unlock in it. ” He offered the other his gun to check out, knowing that it was still bound to him through any silly antics she might be considering. [break][break]
As Miyah continued to speak, Fox couldn’t help but feel like he was watching his little sister blurt out something she shouldn’t and his cheeks reddened in embarrassment. ” Uhhh, I’m cool with us going, if the rest of you are but if there’s a concern, you all good, dude? No judgment on where ya came from, long as you’re good, I’m good. ” If he turned them for some reason, he’d just fill him up with lead.

After calling out, he dodged a few large hanging vines, until he spotted the pink-haired player spinning up as though either to scare or give up (he couldn’t be too sure) until she spoke once again with slight trepidation. He wasn’t sure if the gun was always the issue but no one ever felt calmer after seeing that Fox had one equipped and ready to fire but perhaps in time, people would be more thankful he was using something that packed so much firepower. ” Sorry, I saw you running off and I thought I saw some monsters scurrying that way. ” He pointed with a quick headnod to a thicket about twenty yards off with rustling leaves finally settling back into statis. ” I’d hate for any of us to turn into tiger meat, or whatever the hell lives in these hills. ” Fox used a strap to place his gun on his back as a way to also showcase his passivity in wanting to fight the other. ” I’m Fox, by the way. Part-time heartthrob, other part pro gamer turned, well...” He stopped for a moment to let out a slightly awkward chuckle. ” Whatever the hell we are now. ” Fox hoped humor could help lighten the mood but only time would tell.

This wasn’t the London that Fox had been accustomed to for the better part of the year. He had come to be one with the gloomy weather, the roar of a pub, and even the currents and leylines of the city where people would flock to and stay around; this new feeling in the air felt silenced and bogged down in the aftermath of what was. His father would be fine, he had no worries about that man who was like a cockroach with his survivability but Jazzy on the other hand had him concerned. [break][break]
North America felt like a decent next stop on this ridiculous journey around the world. After hearing the mumblings of the Bad Lands and how dangerous it was there, Fox decided that the Hollow Hills portal made the most sense in trying to find the missing members of his family. Luckily he had his rifle, the rumor mill had been saying that the flying creatures were the biggest issue in the large, towering mountains that were filled with surprises.[break][break]
As he loaded himself in, Fox ensured to grab his rifle from his inventory and held it in two hands while he took a cautious look around with floating mountains, dense thickets of trees, and the occasional guttural call of wild beasts sent a shudder down Fox's spine. He needed to find a place not lost in the mazelike twisting routes of this place and that's when he thought he spotted another player with pink hair. [break][break]
"Hey, watch out. This place is crazy dangerous!" Fox beckoned out, rushing through the bushes in a moment of wild courage to the other side unsure what he would be stumbling into once he knocked through the underbrush of the Hollow Hills. [break][break]
It felt stupid but there was something about this new world that caused them to need to be brave in a brazen way. If not, they would only be left behind by the others who stepped up in time of uncertainty. But only time would tell what that meant for Fox and if he really had it in him to push back against a world that was slowly but surely collapsing in on humanity as a whole.

before, it felt like it could still be some type of nightmare but too much time has passed for it to not be a new twisted reality. it's why when he learned of a safe zone, he praised the wicked universe while teleporting inside THE HUB and placing his gun into his inventory for the sake of feeling normal for once. holding a gun felt so violent all the time and with the smug glances or nervous looks, fox was starting to feel more and more like a monster than a player trying to survive.[break][break]
on one hand, they still needed to find the rest of the kingstone crew. it felt impossible knowing that jemma was alright but where in this forsaken world were jazzy and the rest of them. he spent far too much time searching for them when he knows deep down that he should be leveling up, trying to catch and stay with the front group of players gaining resources and advantages over those simply playing to exist. he still needed to meet someone who he could see the power difference between the two of them, who knew how much of a mountain fox needed to climb.[break][break]

There was so much in the moment that Fox saw Jemma and realized that it was her that he wanted to unload. Family life hadn’t always been the easiest for Fox and still, he had tendencies to detach and disappear than to ride out the uncomfortable. But he was the oldest and despite wanting to square up with his father at every opportunity, he often let the twins be collateral damage. Fox took a quick moment to grab his sister’s shaking hands and tried to still them and calm her wandering mind down. ”Jem, we can only focus what’s right in front of us right now. We probably gotta kill some huge freak monster; just do your best, alright? I got you.” Fox could only hope that his sister could pull her own weight, they couldn’t all carry burdens in a world like this (if it was turning out to be a survival game like the system has been promising).
