Fox only had one goal in his mind - to be the champion of the upcoming year with THE LONDON EYE. He'd been with them for the better part of six months, joining right during the Spring split and was still getting his footing at such a high caliber of play. Sure, Fox knew that he was capable but the pressure to perform consistently had been starting to get to him. [break][break]
They all sat watching their latest scrimmage picking apart their plays and acknowledging the ways they could have better maneuvered during certain parts of the game until a pop-up appeared directly in the center of a vision. " what the? " his tone was low, a growl even as Fox attempted to wave off the screen until he realized it wasn't going anywhere. [break][break]

Instantaneously, Fox disappeared from the comforts of the team's London flat and into something much more industrial by nature and as the man looked further out it seemed as though wherever he ended up was filled out dilapidated islands of machinery and toppled-over buildings. This felt far too much like a dream and as such Fox slapped himself as though it would wake him up from a weird dream until a second pop-up appeared.[break][break]

Without a doubt, his fingers press toward the first option, and a flurry of elemental energy could be seen spiraling around Fox as a rifle appears in his hand at least Fox feels somewhat at home with a gun, not that he ever used one in reality but he was pretty good with it in his video games. His eyes scan the rifle and it seems to be familiar to the ones he used in-game and for now, he'd enjoy whatever little dream that he was being forced into. "Anyone out there?" Fox called out, hands loosely gripping onto his gun as he began to explore whatever it was this jungle of copper wires and broken buildings had waiting for him.

Long strawberry blonde hair splayed out on the bedsheets as the sun outside shined down through the window blinds. She frantically popped each tetromino in place as the blocks fell down on her screen. Just when she was about to insert a long block, a sudden holographic notification popped into her field of view. Can you livestream when your family gets killed in the tutorial? ye, i wanna broadcast it to some noobs thnx [break] Startled by the absurdly violent message, Jemma blinked losing track of her tetris game as the blocks all began piling up on top of one another. “Huh?” She said, standing up. [break] “Wait!” Jemma called out again, getting caught up in the swirl. She closed her eyes, scared of what was going to happen next. When she opened them again, she found herself in an exceedingly strange area. Tall, dilapidated buildings and piles of unknown machinery seemed straight from one of those post-apolcalyptic movies. It was the aftermath of another one of those procedures - the ones that forced him to detach himself from his humanity before stuffing him full of guilt the moment he put his scalpel down onto the metal tray; the hollow, clinking sound echoing on repeat in Henri's head as he sat on his desk, head cradled in between his shaking hands, legs trembling from the post-adrenaline rush.
He struggled to reach for a pen, his coping method - but just as he grabbed onto his usual clicky pen, a screen with a message too long for him to dissect appeared in an odd fashion in front of him and faded just as quickly as it arrived. He was left with almost no time to recover from the new shock as another followed, this time with the following choices:
1. Penpusher
2. Scribe
3. Echo
Like a multiple choice, he felt the need to pick an option out of instinct, so he did. Scribe it was, then.
Here was a thing about Henri: He was usually right when it came to things that relied on intuition - for not a second later, he felt as if he had lost all of his bodyweight for an instant before finding himself completely surrounded in bizarre environments, two other individuals nearby.
"...A quest?"
He uttered at no one in particular, though loud enough as if it was directed at the others within the vicinity. With his still-thumping heartbeats drumming in his ears, he faked bravado to prepare himself for a completely another challenge to overcome.
Whatever it was that they were looking for, they certainly wouldn't find it here. Not when he was almost sure that this wasn't a dream.

Fox still couldn’t tell if his surroundings were either some type of lucid dream with vivid apocalyptic detail, some sort of AR game that he found himself in and couldn’t remember, or if this was actually real life. With as many games as the teenager played, his dreams were often vivid and filled with unreasonable asks and unfathomable destinations. Yet, here he stood with his weapon in hand with a hunch and a curiosity wanting to see whatever was happening despite believing he’d wake up with something insane to text his friends about. His ears quickly perked up when he could hear two distinct voices call out and one of them sounded so familiar, but he couldn’t put his finger on who it sounded like. With a quickened pace, Fox turned the corner on the large pillar of concrete with his gun still firm in his hand with a finger on the trigger. He wasn’t stupid, enough games had him knowing to prep corners with shots but as soon as he turned was when the next alert came through.[break][break]

" What the f*ck. " He muttered while bringing his left foot forward and quickly scanned the area from what was around him to try and spot any monsters and try to listen for any skittering or noises that might alert him to where this large boss monster could leave.[break][break]
As Fox spun, that's when everything clicked and he could hear the voice of his little sister calling out and that's when he broke out into a sprint without worry or pause to aggravate the boss trying to find Jemma. "Jemma, you there?" That's when he turned another corner and saw his younger sister who he hadn't seen in the better part of a year and dwarfed her by embracing her in a hug and dropped his weapon without thinking. "Jem!" There had been a lot of friction with Fox and his family and he felt bad that it also trickled down to his siblings, but his desire for freedom was far too great and they were often assessed as collateral damage. He let go of his sister and picked up his rifle once again, knowing that at the very least, he needed to get them out of this dream/simulation/whatever the heck was going on, and seeing Jemma shifted his lackadaisical attitude to something a bit more fierce and determined.[break][break]
After taking a few steps forward, Fox took on his usual role on the LONDON EYE as the shot-caller. "Stay behind me, alright? I don't know what the f*ck is going on but we're gonna get the h*ll out of here. You watch our back, we gotta find whatever this boss is. " With his free hand, he pointed the direction they were headed and hoped she would fall in line, for now, knowing that one of his biggest problems with the twins was that Fox was always independently loyal and authoritative. [break][break]
Another corner turned and Fox spotted another player? boss monster? Fox couldn't be sure and immediately jumped back trying to push Jemma back as well while he aimed his gun at the shorter man, ready to shoot the other with his finger already light against the trigger. "Think this is the boss monster we gotta kill?" He asked in a whisper to his sister before his eyes narrowed trying to see if there was anything he could identify the person in front of him.
"Who are you?" Fox called out to the stranger, gun still aimed at him cautious and ready.

Fox!” She hadn’t seen her eldest brother for quite a few months, not since he’d left the family to pursue his career as a professional gamer. But she still quietly followed his career and had even watched a few matches to cheer him on. [break][break] Yet this was far from a happy reunion… [break][break] “Fox do you know what’s going on? I got this message about our whole family dying and I didn’t know what to do….” She trailed off, hugging her brother tighter before letting go. “Do you really think there’s a boss monster here… That we’ll…. Have to fight it?” Her hands were shaking as she stood closer to him, wanting to hold onto one of his, but she quickly realized that he had a gun. Her brother had a weapon? Wouldn’t that help them against a boss? But she had nothing! [break][break] "stay behind me, alright?” [break] Jemma nodded, seeing that Fox was taking charge of the situation. Still vastly unsure herself, she was relieved to see that he could be confident in this kind of situation. They had to find the boss monster, that much was clear from the message. [break][break] Whatever kind of nightmare this was, Jemma just hoped the rest of her family would be okay. [break][break] She still followed closely behind Fox, her eyes glancing around trying to take in their ever stranger surroundings. Tall dilapidated buildings barely resembled what buildings were supposed to be, along the jungle of metal, wires, and cables… How could anything even live here? Certainly, humans weren’t meant to be here at all… [break][break] She nearly squealed aloud when they suddenly encountered…. Another human? Jemma practically hide behind Fox as he confronted the stranger, only peaking out behind him to see that shorter man with glasses standing before them.

He was only spared a moment to observe and attempt to form judgment of his surroundings when he had a gun pointed at him.
Common occurrence, he thought - this wasn't the first or the second time he had a weapon of lethal nature directed at him with so little precaution from either party. Weren't he glad that some things just never change, in reality or in this place resembling it the least?
With practiced calmness and poise, Henri fixed his glasses with a push of his index finger. Now this was more like it - anything that

Even Henri himself wasn't convinced at his own suggestion. Perhaps not without further, much needed reassurance, before the stranger put a hole in his skull with that rifle he was carrying.
"The name's Henri, for ease of reference; a human, obviously. French ethnicity, Canadian - we should work together." He threw in terms that he knew were commonplace back in where he came from, just in case the two others were aliens from outside of planet Earth (you could never be too sure, not after you became a witness to such a strange occurrence).
"I arrived at this place against my will. You can almost say I'm transported into this space all of a sudden, and thrusted into this ridiculou test with the two of you. I take it that you know each other?"

There was so much in the moment that Fox saw Jemma and realized that it was her that he wanted to unload. Family life hadn’t always been the easiest for Fox and still, he had tendencies to detach and disappear than to ride out the uncomfortable. But he was the oldest and despite wanting to square up with his father at every opportunity, he often let the twins be collateral damage. Fox took a quick moment to grab his sister’s shaking hands and tried to still them and calm her wandering mind down. ”Jem, we can only focus what’s right in front of us right now. We probably gotta kill some huge freak monster; just do your best, alright? I got you.” Fox could only hope that his sister could pull her own weight, they couldn’t all carry burdens in a world like this (if it was turning out to be a survival game like the system has been promising). Now, as Fox confronted the stranger with glasses, the elemental gunner let out a slowed breath to showcase that he wasn’t being irrational in this moment. [break][break]
”I am calm.” Deciding to target Henri for now, Fox still kept his distance as he looked around the area for something disheveled or out of place. [break][break]
”I’m Fox and this is Jem, we’re from countryside England. We do know each other. ” It was enough to share without giving away too much information as Fox stepped out of his sister’s way for the introduction.[break][break]
”We might as well team up to face whatever this monster is so we can get let out. Either of you choose a class that can help a ton with fighting? ” It was evident enough with Fox that his gun could probably do most of the damage, if need be.

Jemma forced herself to keep from panicking further, her shaking hands stilling upon hearing his words. The girl took a deep breath in and out, nodding with a forced expression of calm. If Fox could stay this confident and relaxed, she could do it too. She’d rarely seen him like this, so concerned and actually kind of cool. But he was her big brother. That was what older siblings were supposed to do. [break][break] Though soon, when they encountered a stranger, Jemma kept close to her brother, unsure of whether they should trust the newcomer or not. He looked harmless enough, at least he was another human and not a monster. Would they really encounter monsters here? [break][break] Jemma still kept herself strong and silent, a more determined look on her face. Whatever was happening, she knew that being scared wasn’t going to help them so she wouldn’t be afraid, at least, she would try. The bespectacled man introduced himself as Henri, and Fox responded with introductions of their own. Jemma nodded at the mention of her name but was still practically clinging to her brother as he continued talking. [break][break] Picked a class? Was that part of the message earlier? “Um, I picked ‘Star.’ Jemma said, unsure of what that even really meant. She looked at Fox’s gun, “Did your class give you that?” [break][break] But soon, the sound of mechanical clanging filled the air. From further away, two cylindric-shaped ROBOTS clambered down a pathway. Their red eyes glowed with killing intent and upon spotting the trio standing together, a shrill siren-like sound shot through the air. [break][break] ENEMIES SPOTTED! MUST ELIMINATE! [break] One of the robots had a gun and began shooting at them, hitting bullets on the ground nearby their feet and into the debris and buildings on the side. The other robot revved up his chainsaw attached to his middle and began charging toward them! [break][break] “Fox!” Jemma screamed, grabbing onto him tightly, not knowing what else do to. But as she did, a strange notification popped up in front of her. [break][break] ABILITY ACTIVATED: ENCORE [BREAK]

Great; if they knew each other, as per confirmed, then it would be easier for Henri to convince them to accept him into the team. At the very least, he could have more time avoiding a certain death, for example; and if push came to shove, then he would only need to fight one side instead of two. It helped trim down the oppositions and he breathed easy when he sank into this thought, especially when he saw that the girl clung in almost absolute trust to the blonde gent.
In fact, he could only be grateful that Fox (even if he had a gun still pointed at Henri) seemed to be open to tackling the root of their current predicament together. Henri couldn't even imagine loitering around alone, despite being the most comfortable spending time on his own - there was too much at stake to stubbornly stick to his habits.
This was reiterated by the fact that before he could respond to Fox's inquiry after Jem, unwanted robots came into the picture and were intent on eliminating them - yes, Henri had to repeat that word twice before it fully clicked to his still-fatigued mind. He had never been so openly targeted to be 'eliminated' before.
Jem's ability was activated while she clung to Fox, surrounding the blonde in a glow that soon faded. While he was unsure of what just occurred, he had a hunch it wasn't going to do the party any harm, so he felt that it was safe to ignore it for a moment.
He picked up his pen that was lodged on his shirt's pocket, clicked it open and a string of jet black ink flowed out of its metal tip and solidified into a rapier-like blade. At the chainsaw-robot that charged towards them, Henri utilized his speed to hold and thrust his new blade into the gap in between its metal plates. Its blade seemingly melted gooey fluid into the robot, granting it some miniscule damage along with 1 stack of [Ink Poisoning] while avoiding the stray bullets shot by its partner. Unfortunately, while he did avoid fatal damage by quickly backing away and running towards the opposite direction, the chainsaw tore the fabric of his long-sleeved shirt and a portion of some skin on his forearm - but at least he could give the other two some time to put some distance between themselves and the robot.
Some dripping crimson was nothing that he couldn't handle - especially so under this particular circumstance.
"Fox, your weapon is ranged," Henri mentioned in passing as he gestured for them to keep running ahead. "I'm gonna shift out of your aiming route, so you go ahead and shoot."
Whether they wanted it or not, they most probably would have to depend on Fox to deal maximum damage to the robots. .

That stuff only happened in movies and video games?! But it was happening to them now?! Jemma cried out, still scared out of her mind and unsure of what to do. But Fox was there, and Fox still knew what he was doing and Fox was exceedingly, amazingly calm in this situation. [break][break] She could be like that too. She could be just like her big brother. [break][break] “Um!” Jemma said, wiping away scared tears, a more determined expression covered her face as she thought carefully about what people did in video games. She didn’t have a gun, but you didn’t always need a gun to do cool things. Sometimes you had like an energy beam like Sailor Moon or something! [break][break] Jemma put her hands in front of her, holding her thumbs and first fingers together in a triangle formation. Star? That was what she was! She selected her target by placing a robot within the triangle she formed… [break][break] CORE ACTIVATED [break] Suddenly, light colors surrounded her arms, lighting up a sparkling array of pretty chromatic neon colors. From this, suddenly a blast of music came from nowhere, ripping through the air like a powerful electric piano. The lights took shape of a musical note of white light, about the size of a coffee flask, and it fired off toward the damaged chainsaw robot. [break][break] “I… I hit it!?” Jemma gasped, shocked by what she had just done. She looked at her hands, slightly shaking from whatever she had just summoned to hit the robot. She had hit it, and the robot gave off another screeching cry. “Fox!” Jemma cried again, immediately turning to run and hide behind a bigger piece of metal wall sticking out nearby.

Seeing the progress they made, perhaps things weren't as bleak as he thought they'd be.
They looked like they could stand a chance at defeating these robots and make it for another day - but it still needed them to stay focused on the task. He at least had received the wake up call now; the pain he felt from the was real. And if he could feel pain, then experiencing grievous injuries that potentially led to incapacity (or death, as some would simply term it) was not beyond the realm of the impossible.
All the more they had to try to keep up with this, he thought; and luckily the two others he had with him were synergizing well. From the looks of it, the boy had an ability perfect for damage, while the girl was a support with flexibility on a type of light magic. Then he would have to work to make sure they could achieve the best harmonization of their skills.
When the shot Fox did on the Chainsaw Robot connected, Henri took the chance to turn and launched another attack with his rapier.; the Chainsaw Robot's [Ink Poisoning] had increased to 2 stacks. Now that it was apparent that he could stack it, he'd try to stack as much as he could in the next few turns to see what kind of effect it had - hopefully something helpful so he wouldn't have to be deadweight.
When he found a place for cover near the other two, he managed to slide behind a separate slab of metal to avoid a few shots from the Shooting Robot. He couldn't - they couldn't get close to it yet with the Chainsaw Robot still looking to slice them up.
"Let's target the Chainsaw Robot first; when one's down, it'd be easier to get to the other one."
He was so lucky both of his current companions had ranged attacks.
