LEVELLING UP
how to progress
[break][break] Levelling up is a core part of HOTSPOT! It's how you increase your stats, gain new abilities and unlock interesting prizes. In order to level up, you simply spend an amount of the points you gain through posting and completing missions. More info can be found in the Shop here. [break][break] Leveling up is slightly different here though. With each level, you are met with three cards on your pop up menu: Stats, Ability, Other (???). [break][break] With each level, you are given the option to choose between one of them. Stats gives you a flat amount of points you can allocate among your attributes. Ability gives you a new ability attached to your main class. Other(???) is a more random option, granting you a new item or skill, although the results can sometimes be underwhelming. This option will always give you +2 Stats in addition to any other reward.[break][break] Upon receiving your class, there will be some guidance on what stats to increase. If you choose to increase other stats not mentioned in your initial abilities, then your future abilities will reflect your new stat pool. For example, a warrior class with high PWR, DEF and VIT might pour stats into MAGI. If that is the case, the next ability they unlock might grant them an elemental enchantment on their weapon. This means it might not always be the best option to unlock new class abilities straight away, especially if you want to steer your new powers in a certain direction.[break][break] If this is something that interests you, be sure to increase desired stats high enough, then unlock a new ability.[break][break] ICly, your character gains experience which they use to level up. OOC, there is only one currency type that you decide as the member how to distribute and reward your character. That way, it gives members more freedom on what they think their character should be rewarded with e.g. Did my character gain a lot of xp? Did they find a treasure chest? Did they find some other unique thing? This means when you're given points, you can buy that specific reward from the shop.
LEVELLING TABLE

Classes come with a Passive, Core and Three Class Abilities. One of these Class Abilities will already be filled. You can purchase new slots in the shop. Every level, you can choose to acquire a new class ability, so long as you have the slot for it. If they're already full, you can only choose between +Stats or Other. The cost of levelling up changes depending on level, this can be seen in the Shop. [break][break] When you choose the +Stats card, the amount you get to allocate freely are as follows:[break][break] Level 1 - Level 40: +5 stats[break] Level 41 - Level 75: +10 stats[break] Level 76 - Level 88: +15 stats[break] Level 89 - Level 100: +20 stats[break] The System is subject to change based on leveling progression. SUB CLASSES
Your Second Awakening!
For your subclass, you are granted a single passive and a single ability. Simply buy it from the site store and in doing so include the following, a [theme] and [anchor], as well as a short 150-word blurb about your subclass. You will then be given two options to choose from via the mods, much like how your main class is created and awarded your passive and ability! Sub-Classes cannot be swapped out.[break][break]
Once you have your subclass, whenever you gain a new ability from the site store you can choose whether it be from your main class or subclass. Just state which one you're buying it for.[break][break] Subclasses do not have cores and can't gain them. They can have a maximum of 3 ability slots, on top of the 5 maximum you get from your main class. This leaves you with 8 abilities in total should you purchase more slots from the shop. Your subclass anchor type does not give you anchor advantage, it is just to slightly influence what kind of class you want to have.

But since it takes inspiration from themes with a 'stat system', the numbers will be incorporated in a way that it adds flavour, something people can work towards strengthening, and a loose guideline of what your characters are capable of. If you're interested in using crunchier numbers for your combats, check out the Combat & Damage page; casual threads don't have to worry about this, but we try to use it as a guidelines for more difficult content and narrated threads![break][break] NOTE: The stat guide is an overall base guideline of what people are capable of. You power might alter the system slightly, making you stronger than others of similar stat rank to you. [break][break] Everyone starts off with a flat rate of 10 points across every attribute. Upon receiving your class, you may or may not have an increase in certain stats based on what you get. E.g. A Barbarian might be given +5 extra points in [PWR]. [break][break] Upon receiving your class, there will sometimes be suggestions on what stats to increase. If you choose to increase other stats not mentioned in your initial abilities, then your future abilities will reflect your new stat pool. For example, a warrior class with high [PWR] can start pumping up their [MAGI] so that its one of their highest stats. If that is the case, the next ability they unlock might grant them an elemental enchantment on their weapon! You can turn any class into any build you'd like with the right stat allocation! Please mention it in the purchase of the ability that this is your intention, it helps staff ensure you're building your class the way you want it![break][break] Additionally, even if you have a stat build you like an are sticking with it, just ranking up your stats can cause your abilities to become stronger! Every time you reach B rank in a stat, and for every letter grade past that, you can submit a request in System Moderation to gain 2 [Ability Tickets] for that stat! [BREAK][BREAK] You can redeem an ability ticket to upgrade any of your abilities with that stat. using an [Ability Ticket (WIL)] can decrease cooldowns, for example! Sometimes your class' core, passive, and abilities will say they can be upgraded at a certain rank: in these cases, the upgrade is even bigger and guaranteed to happen even without using a ticket! These tickets count as Class items, so they don't take up inventory space; you can save them until you get more abilities if you'd like! When taking and dealing damage, it is still considered as the standard ranks. This means that an A+ DEF would still need to take just 2x B Rank attacks before being downed (if in staff-run threads or you’d prefer to move away from freeform). Flavour-wise, there would still be some visible difference in strength, but this is implemented just to stretch out the comparison of stats in the higher ranks and settle ties among A-Ranks and S-Ranks. The + stat is in place for classes of similar ranks at that high level field. When determining certain clashes of opposing force e.g. battle of wills, tie breakers - it will usually be the PLUS (+) Stat that wins. [break][break] E.g. An A Rank player and A+ Rank player both have mental abilities that they try to use against each other. Because there is still a power difference between the two, it would be the A+ Rank that comes out victorious. This rule should only come into play when freeform RP cannot resolve a conflict. [break][break] This also applies to abilities with the term ‘1 Rank lower/ higher’, but only between the A and S ranks usually. [break][break]

PWR [attr="class","maintext"] POWER - The heavy hitting stat. How powerful your punches are, your projectiles, the strength of your power and self as a whole. Increasing this stat will make you deal more damage or intensify certain elements of your power. This also equates to healing potency - what you read in damage is what wounds you can heal. The physical strength examples described in the PWR rank only applies to classes that actually mention the use of physical strength. If you have an ability/ skill that involves physical application, this would apply to you. If PWR in your abilities references spell damage (fire potency), then that is what you should refer to here. A player's musculature is unrelated to their PWR stat! [Ability Ticket (PWR)] upgrades usually involve increasing damage, size, and potency of abilities.[break][break]
F: Mundane. Regular human feats. Light cuts and bruises. Hardly anything lethal.[break][break] E: Peak human health, slightly superhuman. More painful wound infliction. Low potential to KO.[break][break] D: Superhuman strength, can lift medium sized people with focus. Difficult to throw. Attacks can knock someone out with enough hits. Deeper cuts and bruises. Sharpened razor blades, mallet, light burns.[break][break] C: Can easily lift and throw people. Powers can break through brittle wood easily, break bones with enough strikes in one place and cut like kitchen knives from sharp attacks. Blunt attacks feel like being hit by a metal hammer. Burns last longer.[break][break] B: Lift a horse off the ground. Drag a car. Struggle to throw anything of these weights if there is resistance. Attacks are lethal if hit enough. This is the kind of damage you would want to avoid. Break bones, leave scars from cutting/ piercing damage, burns are more severe (2nd degree).[break][break] A: Capable to lift an elephant with no struggle, throw things of lesser weight much easier. Can prevent a car from driving away. Attacks are capable of instantly incapacitating someone if their stats are too low. Limbs can be severed with enough precision. 3rd degree burns.[break][break] S: Capability to destroy buildings and areas of towns with your fire force. Attacks can rip someone to shreds with enough coverage. Bones can be shattered from impact, burns can char away substance entirely. [break][break] SS: God Tier. Destroy mountains. Level cities. Collateral damage and high casualties expected. [break][break]

DEF [attr="class","maintext"] DEFENSE - As the name suggests, this stat is all about blocking damage. It's how potent your shields are and how naturally strong your passive defence is etc. DEF is usually associated with blocking physical and magical damage, but does not protect you from mind manipulation/ psychic damage etc. That would be [WIL]. The examples do not apply to everyone, and your class description will explain in more detail what is possible for your defensive skillset based on rank e.g. how many times you can be hit with one attack before feeling the damage. If you do decide to pour stats in DEF before having an ability that references such, you can translate that to your own judgement. Be realistic with the table below. [Ability Ticket (DEF)] upgrades usually involve counters, sturdiness, and duration of abilities.[break][break]
F: Little to no defensive capabilities. Shields are as strong as wood.[break][break] E: Slightly more resilient, tough skin and strong bones, but still just as susceptible to break from attacks. Shields are like reinforced wood. [break][break] D: Resistant to light cuts, bruises, piercing etc. Shields made are as strong as a sturdy glass, but can break given enough force/ precision. [break][break] C: Can sustain damage more frequently from weapons like longswords, arrows, some fire etc. Shields are as strong as bulletproof glass. Basic attacks of a magical nature will still use energy, and consecutive use will cause your character to collapse if your WIL is too low. F: Small energy reservoir. Can cast spells a minimal amount and get exhausted after several uses. No protection of the mind. [break][break] E: Can cast spells more frequently before getting exhausted but not notably much. Little to no protection of the mind. [break][break] D: Harder to influence the mind. Spells can be used regularly, but constant use will require longer rest. Individuals tend to be more focussed in chaotic situations. [break][break] C: The effects of a high Willpower are more apparent. Mana is much higher and can sustain a caster for a whole dungeon. Cooldowns are slightly reduced compared to other spellcasters. Your energy rarely depletes unless pushed to your limit/ near death experience. TUTORIAL ZONE
Survival Mission
Earth has assigned different missions based on where you were/ who you are during the Mass Awakening. When the system window appeared, and you got the message from Earth, you were then assigned a class. People were locked within a particular zone, which would be turned into a makeshift 'dungeon/ tutorial zone'. Participants in this zone must succeed in completing the assigned task, whether it be surviving for a set duration, defeating the zone boss, protect an item, capture the flag etc. [break][break] All zones, no matter where you are, will always give you a maximum of 12 hours to complete it. When those 12 hours are finished, the monsters/ threats inside become exponentially stronger with every minute that passes. [break][break]
Everyone can start their own tutorial thread, and you can have others take part in it too (recommended). Be sure to title it as: [break][TUTORIAL] 'Thread Name - Open/Closed'. [break][break]
You are free to roleplay it however you wish, with the intention of beating the tutorial, whether it be you or an NPC you make. Solo threads are capped at 4 posts, whereas TUTORIAL threads with other members have no cap limit.[break][break] Staff are able to post prompts, monsters, alterations during your thread, but it isn't guaranteed. CURRENT DAY: Since the site has been open and progressing for almost 2 years now, the context of Tutorials is slightly different. You can either roleplay your character doing their tutorial as if it was 2022, and what they've been up to in the past 2 years, or you can play it off as a 'late loader'. Late Loaders are characters that have been stuck in limbo from the moment of the mass awakening, and thrown into the world at any point to start their tutorial later.

You can choose one to two words as your theme, and staff will base your power around that with it being the core foundations of what you can do. If you choose a broad theme and aren't very specific, The System will provide multiple power choices (titles only) that you can pick from. If you are very specific with the theme, you may only be given one option that cannot be changed. [break][break] For example, if I chose the theme [dragon], the system could grant me three class options (ignoring the Anchor for now): - dragoon

A nice variety of options. You won't be granted any further information on the class other than the title. Once you select one, you must wait for staff to make your power and update it in the inventory. [break][break] Now if I chose a theme such as [reality warper], it is already very specific. Although there can be options pulled from this, it isn't always likely to happen. Therefore, you might just get one option that staff will automatically begin working on. Once again, you can only slightly influence your power, not make it outright. Tutorial Event Info
In Summer of '22, Obelisks of unknown origin, far larger than any man-made object, start rising from pits out of the ground. With them is an aura of digital energy, pulsating across our planet. The amount of obelisks that have risen is unknown, but there seems to be one in every city, town, jungle and ocean. They've been sighted from airplanes, satellites, and many more. It's assumed these obelisks of digital power cover the entirety of Earth - seemingly harmless at first, save for the sinkholes that swallowed entire districts and mountains... [break][break] After a few hours of their rising, the world went through a total reset. Reality was overwritten by an unknown being which called itself 'Earth', everyone receiving a holographic pop-up window before them from said being. It changed the planet, rebuilding cities, deconstructing mountains, generating dungeons and monsters. But it also changed the people, assigning them a 'class' much like in RPG games, granting them powerful abilities and weapons. [break][break] [break][break] But with these so called 'gifts', there is ruin and chaos: cities overrun by monster hordes, roads collapsed into fissures, planes hunted by wyverns. The list goes on. Entire countries and regions have been 'locked' by The System, giant barriers of light and code preventing travel to and from. It seems there are only a few select areas that Earth has kept open, for the 'tutorial phase' at least.
