She needed to know what she was capable of within the context of battle so that she'd know which missions she'd be able to realistically take on her own. Team-ups were good and all but she couldn't be reliant on others, especially if she wanted to rise in the ranks faster. hence why she was staring at the mission board in the headquarters.[break][break] She ultimately decided to take the mission in the hollow hills to track down a shepherd's sheep. Usually, she'd feel that she was above such peasant work but with her lack of strength currently, there wasn't much that she could do. "At least with this I'm not feeling like some kind of delivery worker." she thought.[break][break] She didn't have an issue with herding sheep and she could aim to get a higher reward by killing the gnomes or at the very least get the farmer's thanks and appreciation for solving his problem. Of course, first, she'd have to be sure that he was open to that option; no need for her to commit murder only for her efforts to go unappreciated after all.[break][break] "Well, off to England then." she muttered before heading into the teleportation ring, soon to arrive at the newly named Hollow Hills. Stepping out of the teleportation circle, Natalya glanced around as she found herself once again in the hollow hills. It was just as she remembered it from her last visit where she meet Idir and the tomato girl for her last mission. Eventually, she would like to take some time out to fully explore the location but today she wouldn't have the time.[break][break]
She quickly made her way toward the farm indicated in the mission statement, noticing the farmer fixing a hole in his fence as his sheep grazed behind him. As she neared him, he noticed her and set down his tools as he rose to his feet.[break][break]
"Good Afternoon Sir. My name is Natalya and I'm here to fulfill your mission request." She spoke in an assured tone to the man's skeptical look. She was well aware that she didn't look the type that would be willing to go gallivanting around the forest for missing sheep but that was just a part of the illusion that she had crafted for herself to avoid any suspicion.[break][break]
The man soon agreed and gave her all the information that he had managed to gather about what had happened to his sheep as well as the previous experiences that he had with the gnomes before she thanked him and went off in the direction he indicated.

Natalya was soon out trekking in the woods, following the trail of wool pieces that got caught in the branches. The trees and other flora in the region had grown exponentially which as a botanist was something that she enjoyed greatly. It also worked in her favor for this mission as the sheep's wool ended up getting caught and left a neat trail for her to follow. Hopefully, they didn't get very far and merely found a nice patch of grass or something to eat.[break][break]
As she maneuvered through the underbrush, Natalya began to go over her plan for this mission. With there being 5 total sheep for her to retrieve, she had the choice of either bringing them back one by one or trying to wrangle them all at once.[break][break]
"I doubt I'd be able to wrangle 5 sheep and that's considering that they're even regular sheep and not some strange evolution." the Russian thought, remembering that the barn had been a bit larger than she thought was needed for sheep.

With her decision made, Natalya soon picked up the sounds of low baaing coming from up ahead. As she continued forward, she made sure to be more careful with her steps as she didn't want to end up having to give chase in this type of environment.[break][break]
Peeking out from behind the bushes, she spotted the sheep lazily grazing on a bush. It was absorbed in its meal, clearly enjoying it from the gleeful baas that it released every few seconds and appeared to be alone. "Did the rest of its fellows just abandon it here? Or perhaps it wandered away from the others." she speculated as she began to plan out her move.[break][break]
Given her lack of offensive capabilities, she had to think more outside the box to win fights, something that she was used to doing. There was her ability as well but she'd prefer to save that for an emergency; perhaps if she ended up fighting the gnomes. No, if she wanted to catch this sheep, then she'd have to use the environment to her advantage.

The sheep let out a sorrowful baa as it ate the last clump of delicious food it had found. The others had all chosen to continue wandering but she had decided to explore their surroundings and had been blessed with such a find. It was a shame now that it was over but perhaps it was time to find the others.[break][break]
As she turned in the direction she last saw the others, her eyes caught the site of another clump of the delicious greens sitting on the group. She wasn't sure how she'd missed it the first time but she wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. [Break][break]
As she happily ate that piece, the sheep noticed that there was another one further back and ate that one too. This pattern continued until the sheep found a giant pile of the greens and began to go to town, happily gourging itself as Natayla and the farmer watched from behind.

"I'll admit. I had been a bit skeptical when your first showed up miss but you definitely have me eating crow now." the man said, scratching at the side of his head.[break][break]
When she had first come back to the farm empty-handed, the farmer had initially thought that she had given up. It was after she explained her plan, he had agreed to go along with it though remained skeptical. Natalya though knew how well the lure would work from how deeply the sheep had been enjoying the food.[break][break]
"Once I bring back the other 4, I'll grow some bushes for them to feed on. They weren't anything poisonous so it should be fine for them to eat. If I find the gnomes, I'll take care of them as well." she offered, receiving a nod from the farmer.

It didn't take long after she re-entered the forest for Natalya to find the others sheep. On the good side, they were all together and seemed to be unharmed. The bad side was that was that there were a group of about 3 gnomes surrounding the sheep in a circle. "Seems that battle is unavoidable then."[break][break]
Like how she captured the first sheep, Natalya began to analyze her environment for tools that would help her in battle. She had no idea of their strength so she couldn't really on her Shield lasting against them which left her to go with the poison option to inflict as much damage as possible. After that, she'd have to start taking pot shots with her seeds to take then out.[break][break]
"Ideally I'd like to find a way to hit all 3 at once with my shield. Perhaps I should go with the thorn shooting option then stall and pot shot until my cooldown ends." she pondered before deciding it was the best choice. Silently as she could, she began finding key locations she could defend from.

The gnomes argued back amongst themselves about what to do with the sheep they had stolen. It had been easy to lure them away from the stupid farmer once they broke a piece of his fence and they had originally planned to bring them back to their own village in order to raise but eventually realized that they had lost one along the way which lead to the bickering.[break][break]
Just as things were about to dissolve into a physical bout, a volley of thorns erupted from a nearby, stabbing into all 3 of the gnomes. As they angrily pulled them out, they noticed that these thorns were a deep purple with a strange liquid dripping out of them. It wasn't until one of them started to feel sick that they realize that they had been poisoned, something that sent them further into a rage before two of the gnomes charged into the forest to look for the culprit while the remaining one stayed behind to keep the sheep calm.[break][break]
As the gnome nervously glanced around at the surrounding flora, Natalya moved on to the next step in her plan. Waiting for the right moment, a small seed shot out from her finger, striking the gnome in the eye and sending it reeling to the forest floor in pain. She quickly ran out from the underbrush, giant branch in hand, and began to bash the gnome's skull in, only stopping once she was sure it was dead.[break][break]
With that part done, she'd drag the body behind her as she prepared to deal with the remaining 2 gnomes.

The two gnomes returned, frustrated and bodies racked with pain as the trail they had followed ended up leading to a dead end. By the time they realized it, they had already been following the trail for 5 minutes. Once they got back, they immediately noticed that 1 of the sheep was missing as well as their comrade.[break][break]
Spotting the blood trail, the two gnomes turned to look at each other before hesitantly following it, weapons gripped tight. A turn around the corner showed their comrade's dead body tied up to the trunk of a tree by vines. His body was stabbed through various tree branches while a mockery of funeral flowers was laid by the smashed-in head. One of the gnomes let out a guttural cry before collapsing to its knees and sobbing while the other moved forward to inspect the body.[break][break]
The sobbing gnome was pulled from its mourning by the sound of something heavy smashing into flesh. Looking up, the gnome was surprised to see a human woman standing there carrying a thick tree branch as she swung it back and forth into the skull of its companion. The gnome let out another scream as it charged toward the human who dodged to the side, leaving him to check on his friend and discover that he was most likely to die.[break][break]
"Poor thing. All your friends die?"

That taunt sent the last gnome into a rage, charging toward the woman with its fist swinging wide. Natalya smirked at this, seeing that the gnome had gone into a berserker rage. Running into the forest, she mentally patted herself on the back for choosing to ambush the other gnome rather than deal with the last one.[break][break]
The only issue left was that she didn't really have any methods to take it out. Her only attack at this point was on cooldown and she wasn't sure if her seed attack would be able to take it out in one hit or not. She didn't have much in the way of vitality and had no idea how strong the gnome was but perhaps she'd have to take that chance.[break][break]
When the gnome took another instance of poison, Natalya turned back around and charged. She fired her seed attack though the gnome managed to avoid it striking it in the eyes; instead hitting the forehead as it charged back at her.[break][break]
As the first punch landed, Natalya didn't feel any damage coming to the understanding that the gnome couldn't penetrate her defenses. "So much time I wasted." She mentally chastised herself as the gnome finally fell from a combination of the poison and her strikes.[break][break]
With the battle won, Natalya went back to the sheep, using some more of the bush's leaves to lure them back to the farm and informed him of having taken care of his gnome issue. He was quite thankful, bowing in gratitude as she walked off heading back to the teleportation pad.[break][break]
"Think I might go rent out an apartment for a soak."
