It had been a good day today. An easy day at the shop and a relaxing night of playing video games. Mr. Beast had gotten snuggled into bed with his favorite blanket, spending a little more time with his virtual critters on his phone before setting it aside and clicking off his lamp for bed. No sooner than when he did that, however, he could hear the buzz of his phone’s notification. “How curious…”
No one messaged Mr. Beast–EVER–so the only possible scenario was that one of his apps was informing him to feed his V-Pets. That didn’t make sense either, though… he NEVER forgot to feed them. Picking up his phone to see what it was, Mr. Beast was absolutely shocked to see that it had in fact been a message. The words “All that buffness for no reason!” shone back at him against a blue background, from an “Earth-chan” with a pixely profile picture.
He could feel his cheeks turn rosy from the message, but was unsure of how to respond. Even PHYSICALLY, there was no keyboard here, how was he supposed to reply? It could have been a virus, but something so specific to him? No way. Mr. Beast tapped his screen, only for it to switch to a different message.

Wh-what?! Who even was this Earth-chan, and what exactly were they offering here? Whatever the case here, Mr. Beast already had his pick. No sooner than his finger pressed against the screen, he suddenly found himself in a completely different environment. It almost looked like he was in some kind of battlefield. There were other people around, but none of them game him the vibes of this “Earth-chan”.
If not for how jarring it was, Mr. Beast would have thought it funny to have suddenly found himself in a place like this with nothing on his RIPPED MUSCULAR BODY except for some blue pajama pants and a matching hat. Before he had much time to react, he felt a tug at his leg. The man turned, only to find…
”OHHHHH MYYYY GODDD!"
Besides him stood a catlike figure, a small creature with a head made of cloth. Nothing like this could exist, they weren’t real, but tears streamed from Mr. Beast’s face as he crouched down to hug his little companion. ”RAGLINE, ITS YOU! I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS!” The same little critter he had spent years of his life training and taking care of through a screen was now standing right besides him.
”THANK YOU EARTH-CHAN! I WILL FIND A WAY TO REPAY THIS DEBT!"
For as caught up and absolutely ecstatic Mr. Beast was to have his little Ragline here with him in person, his attention was drawn away by another message. Hold down a fort for 10 hours.... If this was what Earth-chan wanted him to do, he'd do it! Looking towards the other people here with him, Mr. Beast spotted a man with a musket of some kind. "Hello! Excuse my looks, I was in bed before this wonderful blessing occurred. I'm Mr. Beast, and this is Ragline!" The man bowed as he introduced himself, and Ragline did the same.
"I must admit I have absolutely no idea what is happening right now, but I'm here for it. I suppose we should find shelter to survive?"

Natalya hadn't been expecting the world to break today. That was a bit of an inconvenience though she'd manage. Loading in, it didn't take long for her to get a rudimentary understanding of the system though she wasn't really one to play video games. Still to her, this was a blessing in disguise.[break][break]
"Hold the base was it? Seems like something right up my alley." she said in a haughty tone before moving out to look for anyone competent to commandeer into her team.[break][break]
It didn't take her long to find 2 other players and lucky for her, they both happened to be men. "It should be easy to get them to go along with my plan. Men are easily agreeable to a pretty face.' she thought before adopting a more innocent look on her face.[break][break]
"I can help with that if you don't mind my tagging along. Not sure what's going on but there's safety in numbers."

"Yes, the more the merrier!" Mr. Beast was still absolutely caught up with Ragline as he spoke to a woman that must've also been dragged into the area. "As I was just saying, we should probably find a safe spot." The man raised his hand to his forehead as he began to scan the horizon. it looked as though they were now in some kind of wasteland, with flat, arid landscape all around. There were a couple of buildings in the area, and as people scattered, it seemed like a couple were already being barricaded. Ragline waved his hands to get Mr. Beast's attention and pointed to one of the still unoccupied buildings.
"Goodness, what eyes you have! Thank you Ragline, for pointing that out to us." Mr. Beast then finally turned to the woman, he hadn't meant to ignore her, he was just so completely obsessed with his new friend Ragline and the blessing that Earth-chan had given him. "Oh, and my Apologizes; I am Mr. Beast, and this is Ragline. Oh my, it looks like we should get inside soon!"
small dust storm was approaching from the distance. If it were a regular one, the man didn't want dust getting into his or Ragline's eyes... but considering they were meant to survive a "horde", he doubted it was dust. Letting Ragline lead the way and rushing over to the building, it looked to be an old, abandoned gas station. The actual pumps themselves were busted, as were some most of the building's tall glass windows- but otherwise, the building itself seemed to be intact. "Hmm, if we can hunker this place down, I think that ought to set us up for success."

The Russian mobster was glad that the muscular man accepted her offer to team up. Her ability was not one that provided her with much if any way to deal damage and given the nature of this tutorial, she knew that she needed to find a partner asap. It had been pure luck that she had found another group nearby so quickly before the event started.[break][break]
"I would say a building would be our best bet. It would limit our escape route but it also limits how many enemies we'd have to face at once and from what direction." Natalya stated, scanning over the buildings to find one that would be suitable.[break][break]
She didn't have a chance to assess them as the newly introduced Mr. Beast and Ragline selected one and began to make their way toward it. Given the dust cloud that she could see approaching in the distance, Natalya wouldn't have much of a choice either in what building she'd be taking so decided to follow after them.[break][break]
Entering the gas station, she did a quick glance over before pointing at the connected garage. "We should use that as an emergency means of escape in case we're overrun. Then we can barricade the doors using the shelves while remaining behind the cashier's desk. Not sure how the bulletproof glass will hold but every second counts" she said, quickly putting herself in the role of leader with no hesitation.[break][break]

"Hmmm very good observations. If we're meant to survive, I suppose I'd rather face less enemies than be out in the midst of-" Pausing to think for a moment... Mr. Beast actually had no idea what they were up against. "Of well, whatever ends up attacking us. Hmm, whatever could it be? Well I'm sure we'll find out soon enough; let's hurry inside!"
As the little group made their way to the building and scoped it out, the woman made some great points about it. With the garage there, they would have a potentially easy escape route. Taking a look inside, Mr. Beast was filled with joy to find a van! Maybe not the his first car of choice for surviving an apocalypses, but definitely worthwhile.
That had been his first thought, at least. Upon trying to get into the car and start it up, he was met with another of these "system messages" that told him he was unable to use a car. Not just was it telling him, but PHYSICALLY he was unable to do anything with it.
"Oh my! This is a bit of a setback- It seems whatever is happening is preventing us from using cars! At least we'd still be able to run out if the worst were to happen."
Inside the building proper, Mr. Beast got to work moving the various shelves up against the perimeter. Ragline followed along helping to to push the shelves, though as small as he was... it really wasn't doing much. Still, Mr. Beast absolutely appreciated the effort and help that his friend was already providing. "Thank you, my friend! I'm so lucky to have you here with me... say, when transported here, I got a "pop-up" telling me about Ragline's abilities, including some of my own... did anything like that happen for you?" The man hadn't yet seen any pets or mystical abilities from the woman, but he was curious if she could do similar things to him.
Thinking about it, Mr. Beast certainly appreciated what Earth-chan had done for him, but he was a little bit unsure of the exact nature of it yet. Was this a blessing only he had been permitted to receive, or could other people in this strange world do the same? Whatever the case, he was at least pretty certain that he was the only person here to have a friend like Ragline join them.

The Russian fashionista was glad that her companion wasn't the stubborn type. The time spent wasting arguing was time that took away from both finding a spot to bunker down in as well as fortifying it. The task simply stated that they needed to survive the waves for 10 hours, not defeat a certain type of monster or whatever. If Natalya could have her way, they would never have to fight a single one.[break][break]
Once inside the gas station, Mr. Beast found a van in the garage; a win in her book, though that opinion quickly shifted when it was discovered that they were unable to drive it due to not having the license for it. A quick search showed that it cost 750 points in order to obtain a driver's license within the system, something that Natalya decried as extortion.[break][break]
Going back to the main building, the Russian began directing Mr. Beast to push the shelves up against the windows and doors to provide a barricade.[break][break]
"So obedient. I really did luck out with meeting him." she mused as she perused through the shelves for anything edible. They were going to have to be here for about 10 hours which meant spending the night here so they'd need to make sure to stay hydrated and fed as well as procure supplies in case they had to relocate.[break][break]
"Yes, I got something similar. My ability is called Greenhouse Engineer. There's not really much that it can do right now but I can create a defensive wall that can last a bit as well as damage anything that hits it." she stated as she moved the snacks and drinks that she deemed edible behind the cashier's desk. It was the best place to set up shop in her opinion as they had another barrier to use as well as the fact that it gave them direct access to the garage as well.[break][break]
"What about your abilities? As well as, Ragline, I believe you said their name was." she said, being sure to make eye contact with the strange creature. No need to not be polite after all.

"Wait, hang on, a wall?" Ragline smiled back at the woman as she looked onto him, and Mr. Beast's face was full of just the same joy. "That's wonderful, it sounds like the EXACT kind of thing we need! Whenever things do end up coming our way, surely it'll help slow them down!" He didn't know the specifics of how that ability of hers worked, but whatever the case a wall defensive wall would give them more time to plan things out- and the fact that it also did damage was just the icing on the cake!
"My abilities? I know I have Ragline here to help me out, but hm... that's a good question. Let's see..." Mr. Beast still had basically no idea how things worked here, but Earth-chan had obviously trusted him enough to figure it out. In his taming games, whenever he wanted to know how his creatures were doing there was screen he could pull up. With a little bit of thought... THERE! He managed to pull up a status screen of his own!
"Aha! Just takes a bit of thought is all. Let's see... OH MY GOODNESS!" The man could feel tears welling up in his eyes as he read through the abilities his [Pet Maker] class had given him. It was essentially a toolkit built around training monsters! "THANK YOU EARTH-CHAN! As I was saying, my class lets me tame and raise Monster's like Ragline here, but my power comes from him!" Ragline tucked his head into his paws in embarrassment at the praise.
Walking over to his cat-like companion, Mr. Beast knelt down and placed his hand on Ragline's head. He gave him a good pet before steading his hand to test out one of his abilities. "I'm limited on how much I can do it, but... feel anything yet, friend?" Ragline shook his head, confusing Mr. Beast--only for a glimmer of light to shroud the both of them, and uprising effect that made Ragline look a bit more powerful afterwards.
"WOAH, WE DID IT!" The man stood up and put a hand down for Ragline to highfive, both excited by the success of the upgrade. Looking at the Status for Ragline again, Mr. Beast had a better understanding of what changed. "Oh! It looks like you have a new ability and some better stats now, my friend! If we get into a scrap, try using your [Nightmare Dance]!"
Now that the windows were barricaded, they knew the layout of the building and their escape route, and the food had been stockpiled... all the three of them had left to do was wait. Mr. Beast had found a small selection of T-shirts featuring the gas station's logo on it, so he pulled one on to have at least something other than PJs. Once he was comfy, he took a seat with Ragline behind the cashier area.
"Well, nine and a half hours to go. I think." Glancing up at the clock on the wall, it... didn't work. Mr. Beast picked up a generic crossword book from the register and gave it to Ragline to flip through. "Looks like we have quite the while. Did you have a name, Miss?"

"Yes, though I will say that the wall is more of a last-ditch defense on account of it having a cooldown for use." Natalya said, wanting to be sure he understood her limitations. He seemed to type to be reckless; all muscle and no brain but who knows, she could end up being pleasantly surprised.[break][break]
As she waited for him to review his ability, she listened to the sounds outside. She could make out the sounds of crashing, yelling, and the odd guttural bellow. "Seems that some of the other players ran into whatever monsters are out here." she mused before considering the circumstances.[break][break]
"Hopefully, there will be an opportunity to tame one of the monsters for you before this wave is over, though I feel you should keep your voice down." Natalya warned as she tried to differentiate the sounds outside. They soon died out and things went silent, leaving her wondering what happened.[break][break]
After about 30 minutes passed, her companion spoke up, asking for her name. "Natalya Romanov" she stated before allowing the silence to creep back up. With things going quiet outside, she figured that the first wave was most likely done. Now it was just a matter of how many more would come and when, though that latter was answered as in the distance, the sound of many hooves could be heard approaching.

"Ah, a pleasure, Miss Natalya." Mr. Beast was glad to at least have a name for the person he was holed up with. She seemed to be more of the silent type, though the man noticed it wasn't for nothing; he hadn't been able to tell at first but her silence was due to listening, scoping out the situation outside from the sounds.
Earlier, the sounds of conflict had been rather upsetting. Mr. Beast hated to think what was happening out there, but with Ragline and another person to protect... staying inside was obviously all they could do. When the sounds had died down it became even more eerie, an unspoken dread to the air of what likely had caused such a thing.
The silence seemed to drag on, and Mr. Beast respected Natalya's request for him to keep it down. He played with Ragline, giving the cat scratches until a new sound cropped out. This was was different from before, almost like hooves growing closer. Ragline turned his head toward the noise before looking back at Mr. Beast with an obvious look of concern on his face.
"Yes my friend, I hear it too. Though I cannot say what that is, I'm sure we'll be okay." While he wanted to comfort his friend and truly deep down believed that they would make it out of this alright, he wasn't quite sure how accurate that would be for the immediate future. If whatever had been outside earlier was vanished, then that meant... "But stay ready, my friend."
Ragline stood, nodding with a look of determination painted across his face. If whatever was out there didn't have anyone else to chase after, then it wouldn't be long before they came knocking at the gas station's door. The man had been thoughtful enough to flip the sign around from OPEN to CLOSE while barricading the front, but something inside was telling him that any visitors they got wouldn't care about the sign...

The pair didn't have to wait long in the silence as the sound of battle picked up once more, this time sounding much closer. From what she could pick out, there was something smashing into one of the other groups that they had passed in the north. The sound of screams echoed out for another 5 minutes before dying out, silence once more encroaching throughout the darkness.[break][break]
"Seems someone didn't choose a good shelter. Or they were overrun by one or more stronger beasts." Natalya thought darkly as she glanced over at Mr. Beast. This was not her first time in a combat situation so she wasn't that affected by it but she wanted to know his reaction to the unseen carnage.[break][break]
She would prefer to know sooner rather than later if he was the type to freeze up in the face of danger or if he was able to pull himself together and fight as that would determine whether or not she'd abandon him if the chance came up. She would always prioritize her safety before all others and had no time for those who weren't competent.[break][break]
She didn't get a chance to ask him his thoughts when the sound of running footsteps came rushing up the front. Quickly looking up, she saw a dark shadow arriving at the front door and start banging on the front door, screaming to be let in. A peek of moonlight from the clouds revealed it to be a man in his early 20s, face pale and streaked with blood, glancing fearfully behind him though also strangely constantly looking at the ground.

Sitting and laying in wait was not hard, though maybe a bit tense. Hearing someone come running to beat on the door and scream, however, was hard.
Ragline hid himself behind Mr. Beast's bulking body as a man tried to break into their building. He was panicking, and while Mr. Beast didn't know why, the blood spread across the man's face gave him some inkling of an idea. "Looks like there is someone in need!" Though potentially foolish, Mr. Beast made his way to the door with mind to open it and let the man take refuge with them inside. "Miss Natalya, I don't know what dangers lurk beyond this door, but please be ready for an escape." He looked down to Ragline, nodding to him to stay a bit back but be on guard in case things went south here.
There was no telling who the man was or what he had been through, but Mr. Beast couldn't in good conscious just leave him out there. Unless Natalya physically stopped him, he'd let the man in, directing him to one of the chairs in the building to rest.

"So he is that goody-two-shoes type then." Natalya thought with a mental sigh as Mr.Beast made his way toward the door. While this man would at least serve as a source of information as to what sort of creatures they would be facing, the Russian princess would rather not deal with the clearly traumatized individual.[break][break]
As Mr. Beast neared the door, he'd notice the man suddenly look back into the darkness in fear before banging even faster, the sound of cracks forming as blood began to run down his hand. "It's coming back! Please, I don't want to die!"[break][break]
Mr.Beast would get close enough to the door to see that the blood-soaked individual was a teen of about 15, tears streaming down his face before Mr.Beast would see a large finned mass erupt from the ground, sending earth and debris smashing into the front of the gas station. In the confusion, the teen was snatched up by the mysterious creature, leaving an arm severed from mid-bicep on the floor once the dust cleared.[break][break]
Seeing the rocks smashing their way through the windows and even the walls in some cases, Natalya hit the deck behind the desk, tucking herself into a ball and protecting her head. Thankfully, none of the rocks managed to reach that far but Mr.Beast had been in the range of that attack.[break][break]
" Mr. Beast, are you all right?" she called out softly, not wanting to call any more attention to their little hideaway after that attack.

"NO!" Mr. Beast was ready to let the man in, but was met with the frantic cries from a doomed kid. There was nothing he could do other than shout and reach for him as the ground erupted, but it was too late. The man raised his arms in front of his face as a monstrous finned creature snatched away the boy, leaving nothing but an arm behind.
The partial explosion of the gas station from the mere impact of the creature alone sent Mr. Beast back into a stray shelf. As he stood, he immediately was on high alert and began frantically scanning the room for Ragline- only calming once he saw that the cat had taken refuge behind the desk with Natalya. "Yes, I... I believe I'm alright."
This was the first human death Mr. Beast had witnessed, and while it would hopefully be the last, it signified one very big thing to him- this world had no training wheels. He turned to where the boy had been standing, brushing himself off of the dust and bits of glass that had settled onto him. "I'm sorry I wasn't faster." His fist was balled, and his voice firm with resolve as he spoke.
Turning back again to the others, Mr. Beast picked up Ragline to craddle. "Are you alright, my friend?" Ragline nodded, though the distress on his little clothed face was clear. The man nodded toward the garage entrance. "With this door breached, we'd best move further in.
