Hana hissed at Emir, voice echoing in the otherwise empty subway tunnel. The two were standing near an ominous red door, the sign above it promising access to the Paris sewer system...and catacombs. "It's a sewer, and a graveyard or something?"[break][break] It likely hadn't been quite so easy to travel between the three areas before, but Earth-chan had apparently remodeled the underground for maximum excitement. Lucky them! "We're beating up exactly as many enemies as we were assigned to, and then I'm out. No looking around for...booze or treasure or anything this time!"[break][break] With a final huff of clean air, she pulled a mask over her mouth and nose, settling it in place to help with the smell she knew was coming. This place was kinda annoying. Argent hugged the wall as a bat came into her view, crouching low to sneak up behind it. The monster fluttered in place, seemingly waiting for someone to come pick a fight with it… She fought a few others so far, and the bat’s annoyingly acute hearing made Argent’s stealthy class a bit less effective.[break][break]
The Lunar Assassin sighed and activated her bracelet, causing her pupils to flash heart emojis as the buff activated. Some of the items she managed to pick up had turned out to be pretty handy, and she loved finding all the neat combos she could pull off with them. The buff increased the power of her attacks, which combined with a solid YEET of her knife, meant that she was able to cleanly take out some of these bats without worrying of much danger to herself. [break][break]
Argent clambered over to the monster, plucking her dagger and continuing on again. The cooldowns that came with her items and abilities were a little bit of a bother here; these monsters were stronger than ones she had faced before. Not only that, but… [break][break]

After discovering the convenience of fast travel, Argent thought that Paris would be the place to BE during this time, what with Valentine’s coming around and everything. She had expected to find cool events and quests, but more importantly, to find people–and she hadn’t yet found who she was looking for. At least for now, the missions could keep her preoccupied…[break][break]
Argent still needed to kill a lot more monsters to finish the quest down here in the catacombs. She hated the idea of using a cheese strat to do it, but as long as she was alone, that might be her best option here. “Eeeh. It is just a small sewer. No need to actually freak out.” Emir was lightly teasing Hana. The darkness of the sewer was a great advantage for the two of them. Emir took up the mission because he thought it would be easy. He wanted to do it with Hana since he considered her a friend. The nightwalker was busy recently in a lot of aspects. He needed the chance to relax with some light work and catch up with people. Hana being one of them. He had not seen her since he was level one, now all this time later greatly improved. “Besides, not getting a little extra reward for our efforts is bad. You can’t say besides the near death experience from being newbies, the alcohol was not nice.”

He simply smiled at her and walked more into the depths of the place. Emir restrained himself from reacting, when he felt like the young lady ran up on him. He was living out on these streets more lately. When people started running you could not be sure if they were a threat or not. His reflexes almost had him attack. It also helped that he did not have the normal equipment he was used to wearing. His standard robe and khopesh was actually being seen about. If not he would have already whipped out his weapon to attack. Now all he had was a whip and a taser that was part of his inheritance.

"A sewer is a sewer!" Hana grumbled through her mask. "And all that alcohol is still taking up space in my inventory. I thought it'd be easier to trade away..." She probably just didn't commonly associate with the types of people who were clamoring for bottles of booze.

She followed Emir through the red door and into the depths, a sour look already on her face. "Do you think the monsters will just, like, rush at us? Or do we need to hunt them down?" Hana was keeping an eye out for the creepy crawlies they'd been assigned to eliminate, but she wasn't exactly expecting a person to almost stumble into them only a few turns into the tunnels.

Taking a few steps back, a guitar appeared in her hand out of reflex, and Emir similarly looked ready for a fight. Thankfully all three of them seemed to realize what had happened just a moment later, and she relaxed as well, letting out a sigh of relief. "Y-yeah, someone could've gotten hurt."

After a moment to recover, she waved her free hand in greeting. "Um, anyway, I'm Hana. This is Emir. Did you get sent on the same mission to clear the sewers?" Hana look around the corner, towards the direction Argent had come from. "Maybe you should join our party? If we all work together, we can get out of here even faster!" She seemed excited by that idea, not enjoying the dank environment so far.

Argent threw her hands up as she met up with the other two, trying to make it clear she didn’t know they were other people walking around the mind. They didn’t seem hostile, at least, and upon realizing this- ”Woah, a guitar?! [break][break]
Side-tracked by the cool guitar the girl–Hana–summoned, Argent recomposed herself for introductions. ”Oh sorry, call me Argent! And yeah, you got that right; I’m questing!” Argent took a step back, placing her fore-finger to her chin in thought. ”To be real though, you guys are the only other people I’ve seen down here, monsters aside. Even if her brother had been here, it seemed like she had missed him. Surely they would’ve crossed paths by now if he was here, right..? Whatever the case though, the stronger she got, and more people she met, the higher the chances would be that she ran into him again. That’s how math worked, right?! So hearing Hana’s offer to party–on top of how fun that’d be–Argent wasted no time in accepting. [break][break]
”Ooh, yeah that’d be lit! Let me just…” While she had learned of the party buffs from other people, Argent herself had never joined one yet. Anytime she fought with other people in the past, it was back when none of them really knew how things worked yet. [break][break]
It took her a hot second to figure out the process, but once she got it, Argent was beyond ecstatic, pumping her fists with joy. ”THERE WE GO!” [break][break]

Emir was lucky it was darker in the sewers. He had a hard time keeping his expression off his face for a moment. He was all about inviting people to travel with them. The nightwalker was just not one to invite random people to a party with him. He placed himself as too important to be doing such a thing. What if they saved his info and just tried to ride his coattails later? If it was a hot guy then it would be fine. A girl he just never met. It would be so boring. Since Hana already sent out the request he was stuck with it. He was going to try not to let it get to him. It would even work out if this Argent girl resisted his charms and strength.

“Welcome to the party.” Emir gave a welcome as if he was cool with it the entire time. When the party request was accepted Emir was even more impressed. He felt a subtle change in his body that was confirmed when he glanced at his stat page. Besides his guild leader medallion this was a nice boost. That and the fact that he was in the darkness of the underground sewer. Emir was actually feeling comfy. “I am gonna disappear for a bit. I will be around. Feel free to get to know each other.”

The shadow walker would start to disappear suddenly, as if becoming a ghost before vanishing from where he stood. It was an activation of a class passive, He went into the shadows and was just chilling with the party. He figured it easier to walk in the back and protect them all without interference.

Hana was surprised at how excited the new arrival was about joining a party. "Um, glad we could help?" Her expression was a bit confused, what could be seen around her mask, until she double-checked the system menu. "Oh, I didn't know we could get buffs like that. Huh." She didn't mind at all, of course.

"Hey! Not you too." She grumbled, muffled, as Emir vanished into the shadows. "Well, Miss...Argent?" Hana needed a moment to check what name the party menu displayed for her. "I guess we should head back in a little deeper." She'd already snuck up on them once, hopefully she wouldn't disappear too.

It was up to Hana to lead the way then, it seemed. She was sticking to the high ground as much as possible, avoiding the disgusting liquids the mission description had warned her about. After a few minutes of this, she was almost getting used to the smell. That's when her attention shifted to noises instead. The sloshing and flowing liquid had been drowning it out, until they turned another corner.

"Sp-spider!" The teen practically shrieked the word, pointing out the man-sized arachnid clinging to the grimey brick wall of the passage they'd just turned into, not even registering the accompanying vermin. A carpet of rats moving towards them, batwings rustling on the ceiling as their rest was disturbed.

”Thanks, and woahh, that’s dope!” This synergy buff they got for being in a party together… it seemed as though there was still plenty Argent had left to learn about this world. Anchors, for example, worked like elements in video games, and her class was a GIFT anchor. For this specific synergy to pop up, that must’ve meant… ”We must be a pretty well balanced team, huh? That’s convenient!” [break][break]
Argent had to temper her surprise when the girl knew her name. Ahh, of course, being in a party had more benefits than just the buffs. Using her own menu, Argent pulled what information she could about her party mates as the man–Emir–vanished. ”Ooh, another stealth guy, that’s awesome! Yea though, that’s right. Hana, then? And he’s Emir, okay okay I get it, I see how it works!” [break][break]
Gleaning what she could of the other two as they delved into the sewers together, it was their levels that first stood out to Argent. ”Oh shit, you guys are a lot higher level than me. Haha, and here I was thinking I was doing good so far. Looks like I’ve got some catch-up to do!” Thinking back to the party buff they got, Argent started to wonder what these two were capable of. ”My class is a DPS, though I’m not sure how level-scaling works- man, if that’s even a thing here.” [break][break]
They didn’t have much time to socialize before more enemies appeared. There were a lot more here than she had faced alone in these rancid tunnels, and her movement was a lot more limited with the nasty fluids. Fighting would be difficult here, but despite that, Argent was excited. With a couple more people to help her out, was still confident in completing the mission soon. [break][break]
”Aw shit, why’s it always spiders? Tch, here goes!” [break][break]
Knife in hand, Argent’s target was the big-ass spider. Rats and other vermin were less of a threat than that thing, so she wanted it GONE before moving on to the fodder. Besides, she wasn’t really equipt for AoE… maybe one of the other two could clear them more easily while she focused the spider thing. [break][break]
On the bright side, just because she was a melee class didn’t mean she was out of options for range! ”Hiyah!” As she moved toward the spider, Argent tossed her dagger at it, blade flying in a straight line to lodge itself in the monster’s carapace. [break][break]

Emir did not feel particularly talkative. Truth be told he was not as worried about Argent as he should have been. He wanted to blame Argent popping up and being possibly dangerous but it really was not it. The night walker really just had a lot to think about and on his plate. He recently inherited some stuff. He needed a location to take care of Pori. It was just a bunch of small problems. Not to mention he did want a guild but not a large one.

He shook his head to bring his focus back to the situation at hand. Emir was not phased by the massive army of rodents, bats, or even the large spider. To him they would all be collateral. Wiping them out would be no different than wiping his own butt. Emir took out a cake pop and started to munch on it. He had no reason to rush the deaths of the small armies. Leisurely lifting his hand he waved it. It would be hard to see in the darkness of the sewers. In some places it would look like nothing happened. In other places it looked like an army of gnats. It was really hard to tell to an extent. The wave caused the dark motes to pulse with a strange energy. The energy pulsed through the area, it avoided the three people in the party, and the spider. The army of rodents and bats did a lot of damage from it.

The night walker shadow traveled to Hana. He made sure his voice was at least noticeable when he spoke. “If you want. You can help out Argent. I can make short work of these things.” It sounded like the air itself was speaking. His voice could even be considered eerily calm given the current situation.

The carpet of rats were sent tumbling back, the flying variants faltering in midair as the attack washed over them. She pumped her fist, looking pleased with herself, before noticing the odd dark energy flowing across the temporarily stunned vermin. "What was...?" She trailed off, before being startled by Emir, letting out a muffled yelp! "Oh, Emir!" That made sense.

Hana glanced back and forth, trying to figure out which shadow was actually a person. She gave up after a moment, just nodding and speaking towards the voice she'd heard. "Uh, okay, got it!" Looking down the tunnel, she spotted Argent beginning her attack. The spider tried to skitter aside to dodge the blow as much as possible, but the knife was still left jutting from its side, causing the creature to emit a strange shriek that Hana didn't appreciate at all.

"Miss Argent, hit it hard, then gimme a clear shot!" Hana used her free hand to gesture, grasping at the air...a shadowy hand reaching out from the brick wall to grasp one of the spider's legs. Another appeared a moment later, taking a few swipes before grabbing a second limb. The creature was held in place while it struggled, although this wouldn't last long!

”O-Oh, you’re back!” Argent was a little surprised to see Emir pop up again; she knew realistically that he’d have been nearby, but wasn’t expecting him to pop up like that- though honestly, that was probably how it was when she used her stealth.[break][break]
Hana was gonna help Argent take out this big spider while Emir took out the rest of the mobs… and he seemed like he was gonna do a pretty good job of it! Argent hadn’t met many people yet with Area of Effect attacks, but that was exactly the sort of thing that would help a group survive here. She was especially glad now that she had gotten to meet up with this group. [break][break]
”A clear shot, huh?” The blade of her knife had lodged itself into the spider’s side, so she ran past it and grabbed the blade. The spider slashed at her along the way, glancing a blow across her– but with the bonus to VIT Argent had from her Moon Phase, it barely felt like a scratch.[break][break]
With blade in hand, Argent slid around the arachnid, getting behind it so that she could pull off her new favorite combo. ”Hyup!” Slashing a vertical line across the spider, she activated Crescent Slash, and empowered it with her Sorcerer’s Pendant. Hana had her own way of fighting, and together this spider wasn’t gonna last long at all![break][break]
Attacking it from behind meant that she got the empowered version of the ability, and with the item it was even stronger, essentially allowing her to slice at the monster with an enhanced laser-beam attack. To make things even better, something about fighting with Hana made Argent feel like her attacks were even STRONGER than before.[break][break]

Emir was shocked as he flicked his finger, causing the slightly hidden shadows of his power to release the targeted energy. The bats started to drop from the sky as the rats started to kill over. Only the people and the giant spider seemed completely unaffected. It was only because Emir neglected to try to hit them, that they were all making it through.

The night walker was not used to some facets of his powers. He thought he could make only his voice noticeable. He did not realize that talking was able to neutralize his power and allow him to be seen. “How are the both of….” Emir was going to ask a question on their battle with the giant spider. The nightwalker stopped when he was impressed. The one called Argent was actually battling well. She stabbed the spider perfectly and her moves were impressive. It made him think, if she was an actual assassin, how hard would it be to take her out?

“Those are some sick moves Argent. Most would be freaking out.” A couple of tentacles formed from his dark motes. They surrounded the spider on all sides and hit it once. It was not the damaging portion of his ability. It was a subtle speed curse the tentacles had. That was the reason he used them, before it all started dissipating as if it was never there.

Hana let her guitar vanish back into her inventory. With one hand busy directing the shadow to hold the spider in place, she needed the other to draw items from storage. This one was a large throwing star, which she raised over her head before giving her arm a shake. A strange bracelet began to glow for a moment...as the teen suddenly grew taller.

She wouldn't be scraping her head against the ceiling, but a six foot plus Hana was still a sight to see! She looked around, then down, grinning for a moment at where she thought Emir was. Then she took aim and threw...the shuriken flying much faster than normal, since it was smaller in comparison now.

As Argent finished her attack, the star whistled through the air...thudding into the sliced and slashed spider. Another horrifying shriek, before it vanished in a puff of webbing, Hana's weapon falling for a moment before vanishing into thin air as well. "It worked! Are you almost done with the...the other things, Emir?" Smiling and waving at Argent, she resummoned her guitar now that she had her hands free, the extra-large musician keeping an eye out for any remaining vermin.

The darkness and tendrils under Emir’s command made a little bit of sense to Argent. There was definitely some kind of theme going on there, even if she couldn’t place her finger on it. With Hana, however, Argent didn’t really know what to think. Guitars, size-changing, NINJA STARS- it was like she could do anything! [break][break]
Thanks to the combined efforts of all three of them against this spider, including Emir taking out the fodder, the arachnid was reduced to dust. ”Woo, that’s what I-” Argent paused to stab her knife at another big ol’ rat crawling out of a crack, but thankfully it seemed to be just more of the fodder. ”That’s what I’m talkin’ about! This party thing really isn’t so bad, huh?”[break][break]
”Thanks for the compliments, I’d say I’m taking to this stuff pretty well. Honestly, Argent thanked her time running around being a hooligan for how well she was pulling through here, that and the games she’d play in her free time. It was a “waste of time” to snobs like the people her parents hung around, but look at her now! So much of that knowledge had carried over! [break][break]
”I’m not on you guy’s level yet, but I’m getting there…” Fighting against these creepy-crawlies had taken enough time for Argent’s moon phase to advance, causing her body to gain a glint of transparency as her [Partial Invisibility] effect activated, along with the speed buff it granted thanks to her Passive. ”...and the things I CAN do, I have a pretty good handle on!”[break][break]
