[attr="class","charactername"] [ ] Numbers rolled for Event (5, 3, & 1) Nikolas had been walking throughout the Safe Zone, London, when news broke out about the mysterious light and sightings. From what he gathered, it seemed that a new region had begun to awaken in the world. A place the media was calling Ender’s Island. Little was known of the island, outside what few videos had leaked. It seemed to be some sort of monster-filled den. People were talking as if there were treasures and riches to be had. While the idea that there might be rare treasures out there piqued Nikolas’ curiosity, he mostly shrugged it off. Why should he be interested in an island out in the Mediterranean? He was still struggling to make it back to central Europe. Nobody in the countryside seemed too keen on charting a boat through the channel. It seems that he was possibly stuck here for a bit. “Seems it was a waste for me to travel all this way after all. I would have probably had better luck finding missing friends back in America than I did try to get to Germany.” He pulled up his information screen and flipped through the various community chats, hoping to see any updates on the mainland. It seemed that most of the chatter revolved around this Ender’s Island. Everybody was trying to make it there but it only opened up through random waypoints. Nikolas walked into a smaller park area to find a bench to sit on and collect his thoughts. While he was still only level 3, he had quite the luck with the community store. He had turned a real profit on the wares he was able to gain, he still lacked overall power. Instead of investing his points into his levels, he went on a shopping spree. Surprise, surprise. It was just as his father said America would make him. Weak, fat, and lazy. He sighed and started to stare blankly at the winter trees before him. It was getting cold. If he was still in Canada, they would have already been drowning in the snow at this point in the year. As he stared off into the distance, a golden light caught his eye. It was buried in the branches of a pinetree nearby. He got up and walked over to inspect. Upon touching it, a window popped up. Would you like to go to Ender’s Island?He paused before acting on impulse. Is this really what he needed to do? His fingers danced and jittered about for a moment before touching the confirmation.

In its steed, he found a warmer airbrushing through his hair. The smell of the sea was all around him. He opened his eyes and saw that he was on a massive ship. Not a cruise one or one that might have been common in the world before the Light, but one that seemed to belong to a different age. He walked over to the wooden railing and gripped it tight as he looked across the black, choppy sea. “Wow, I haven’t seen the Mediterranean since I was a kid. Did it always look this rough? He spoke to himself. He looked around and noticed a few other people were looking in awe. They must have been other players selected to come. “So, we’re going to Ender’s Island huh?” he spoke to himself. Out in the distance, he could see a large mountainous structure jetting out from the waters. His grip tightened. “Well, let’s see what adventures await us here. Just wish I wasn’t alone…” He walked away from the railing and towards what looked like a door to the interior before he was able to below deck sirens began to wail.

That was when he noticed from the sides of the ship things were crawling upwards. People were starting to scramble. Some opted to use their abilities and skills, while most tried to just flee below deck. Nikolas was inclined to run and hide but he couldn’t sit by and watch the others get dragged into the ocean. “I can do this.” Nikolas materialized his robe, book, and other items and rushed over to the edge where he saw a woman being harassed by a smaller mutant fish-looking man. Get away from her!” He shouted as a gold light burst from his fingers. It slammed into the creature causing it to lose its balance before falling over the railing back into the sea. “Are you okay? Quickly, get under the deck.” He told the woman as he helped her back onto her feet. As he did so, he could hear the scratching and climbing of another creature. “Hurry! Go.”

He leaned over and saw the monster he had just struck slowly climbing back up but it wasn’t alone. Two others were with him and both looked a bit larger than the first. Nikolas had to act quick, good thing he had a set of skills that would be fantastic in this scenario. He smirked as he stretched his hand over the railing. “Go back to the ocean you fish freaks!” A magic circle appears and whips of golden light lashed out at the three below him. While they were able to strike at the monster, only the one he had originally struck (Level 1 mob) seemed to be harmed. It was thrown back into the ocean once more and Nikolas received a message before him. “You have hunted 1x Forsaken (level 1). You’ve earned 10 points So that was why he was so easy to deal with, he was only level 1. While Nik was only level 3, he was stronger than most. His robe aided in his magical prows and his stats were higher than a typical level 3. The main issue he had, was he lacked diversity in his abilities.

The other two would surface any moment, and he readied his core ability. A golden hue quivered at his fingertips. He would fire it right at the first one that came over the siding. He briefly glanced around and noticed that there were more of the fish folks on the boat now. Many were being handled by other players but some were overwhelming the humans. Was this fight a losing cause? Damn it. Why didn’t he just stay in London? Not even twenties minutes had passed since he showed up on this damn boat. The creature climbed over the rails and Nikolas instantly fired. While it did cause the beast to take a few steps back, it did not stop it from further advancement. Nikolas’ eyes widened as the beast started to charge at him. “Shit!” he said. His book flipped open and before the monster slammed into him, Nikolas had slipped into the shadows. Emir’s ability was so helpful in these situations. In the shadow form, Nikolas was able to race along the deck of the ship and up to a higher area. While the fish man was frustrated, it still tracked Nikolas’ movement and was already making its way towards him. His second fish friend was also finally reaching the summit of the railing so Nikolas would have two beasts to worry about.

[attr="class","charactername"] [] Numbers rolled for Event (5, 3, & 1) As he reemerged from the shadow, Nikolas already was drawing from his core ability again. A blast of light shot at the enemy. While it hit him square in the chest, it still pressed forward. At this point. Nikolas has struck the monster three times now. What else could he do? The Forsaken (level 5) opened his mouth and a blast of water shot for aiming right at Nik. Before the water could strike him, a golden light wrapped around Nik and protected him from the blast. The golden bubble popped and Nik knew that meant he had some time before his shield would be back up and running. “Shit” He backed away from the beast and fished around in his pocket until he pulled out a small mirror. The second of the Foresaken also let out a stream of water, this time, Nik was prepared. He held up his mirror and the water went flying right back at the monster, causing it to stumble backward and slam against the railing. While it was still alive, he did notice that it was moving much slower.

While Nikolas had dealt several blows to it, the monster seemed to keep going. Nikolas was able to slip away once but it would take a while before he was able to use that ability again. His tentacles also were on a cooldown. The only thing that he had to his advantage was that his Veneration ability finally kicked in. He dumped the points directly into his [PWR] and immediately fired off the blast at the big one. While it did not kill him, still, it did seem to force the beast to his knees. As it was catching its breath, Nikolas tried to scurry further away but the second one (level 3) was already on top of him. He raised his arms to block the blow and he was successful. While the monster slammed right into him, Nikolas was only pushed back a bit. It hurt but he was alive. He pushed the monster forward, trying to cause it to lose its footing. The pair of them fell to the floor grappling with each other.

[attr="class","charactername"] [] Numbers rolled for Event (5, 3, & 1) As the pair rolled around trying to punch and kick each other, Nikolas fired off a shot at the monster square in the chest. Instantly, its body broke apart and become nothing more than some pixels. He was breathing heavily and soaking wet now. He lay there for a moment before the grunts and moans of the last living one was starting to stir. Nikolas rolled over to see that the monster was staggering back to its feet and starting to glare right at the light user. “Fuck” He gripped his side and tried to roll over to get back on his feet. Without giving him a chance to stand, the monster slammed its foot right into Nikolas’ side causing the boy to tumble over and over until he crashed into the railing. Thank god it held and didn’t shatter. He’d rather die by the fist of a monster than drown in the sea. Nikolas was moaning and trying to gather his wits. As he lay there the monster took a stance. It brought its head back and readied itself. It let forth a blast of water right at Nikolas but the light mage was ready. In one of his hands, the mirror opened up and took on the brunt of the blast. Giving no reprieve, the water jetted back out and slammed right into the monster’s belly. While it still wasn’t dead, it was knocked back to the ground, once again having the wind knocked from it.

The one artist had found himself thrust into this new and dangerous world. He couldn’t say he enjoyed the new world but he was slowly becoming accustomed to it. He walked over to the fish man. Standing over the beast, he really took in its ugliness. The monster was in and out of consciousness. It would look at him before fading away. What only seemed like a moment felt like minutes. Nikolas made a finger pistol and fired a golden light right at the monster’s head. It didn’t scream, never made any indication it was scared. No, it accepted its fate and took the shot clearly in the head. Nikolas had spent most of his energy. He couldn’t continue to fight even if he wanted to. He stood there, watching the body dissolve and the screen giving him acknowledgment that the monster was dead. “Good riddance” He said before hoveling over to a nearby crate. It seemed most of the other survivors were done fighting as well. While the Foresaken might have caught them off guard, they did not completely overwhelm them. It seemed that there were a few capable fighters on this ship after all. Nikolas looked onward and saw that they were nearing the island. Was this just the start of the nightmares he could expect here? Ender’s Island, what is your true purpose?
