“Sure.” Helen wasted no time pushing the TV out of the way, just as Hana had instructed. It was surprisingly easy to do so, easier than even she’d expected. Had she always been this strong?[break][break]
“Okay, Hana. Just…cue me in if you need help on a verse or something!” said Helen, as she jumped past the falling debris with surprising agility. Which prompted an interesting question; was she always this fast, too?[break][break]
Eh, probably.[break][break]
…That was when she saw the bricks headed Hana’s way. “Watch out over there!” she said, before hearing the air shift and dodging a similar pile of bricks. Okay, something was definitely up, but what was one more crazy thing?

Hana was already testing her next idea, poking at the keys again before registering the commotion near Helen. "Watch out for wha-ah!" She noticed the shelf behind her collapsing at the last moment, stumbling to the side and diving onto the carpet. Just barely out of range.

Of course, the falling products crashed into the keyboard a moment later, sending it toppling forward. Discordant electronic tones were produced, followed by more products rocketing off the shelf towards Helen. Televisions crashing to the floor, packaged remotes and cords flying through the air. A line of wall mounting kits flew above Hana, thudding nearby.

"...or else that, I guess." She lifted her head to peek out, once everything had settled.

Helen knew accidents when she saw them, and nothing that was happening right now was an accident. “Okay, there’s no way this isn’t deliberate. Whatever entity is – agh!” said Helen, before jumping back just in time to avoid another onslaught of machines. There was definitely something up with her current physicality. [break][break]
“…Whatever entity is trapping us here must be doing this to us, too!” she yelled, as she dodged flying debris back and forth. She spent the rest of the onslaught’s duration doing so in silence; when everything settled, she looked around for Hana. “Oh, good, you’re safe.”[break][break]

Hana slowly sat up, small plastic boxes and cases sent tumbling and sliding away as she moved. "Ugh. Yeah, probably. Just a second." She carefully scooted herself across the floor to the fallen keyboard, flicking the power switch before poking a key to ensure it was off. "I'll just have to do it in silence."

She made sure all the devices were turned off or unplugged, righting the keyboard and clearing herself a space to stand. "Alright, so...no keyboard, no guitar, no singing...probably no humming, just to be safe." Hana shuffled away from the debris, unplugging the tablet. And making sure it was muted as well. "I think we've gotta play something all the way through without messing up, no practicing first."

Hana gestured towards the floating screen still displaying nothing but their current instructions, including the warning at the end, before focusing her attention on the gaudy tablet. "That means short and simple. I'll put the lyrics up on the TV screen for you." She glanced up at Helen for a moment. "I bet you're required to participate, too. So we'll do two verses, and you can join in the second time through."

“Short and simple. I like it.” Helen was starting to warm up to this girl, although she’d never admit it. And anyway, now was not the time to start befriending younger people. Not when Zack was in danger![break][break]
Then Hana pointed out something that Helen only realized just then, but should’ve a while back. “…I probably have to join in, yes. I’ve never done this before, so tell me if my lyrics are choppy!” she said. She was much more used to performing existing lyrics than creating new ones, but she could probably pull it off!

Hana nodded to Helen without looking up from the screen. She was once more deep in thought. Free hand sometimes drifting over the keyboard, miming her way through the song. Muttering to herself, updating her notes on the tablet. Standard drumbeat, simple melody, easy to sing lyrics. Hana didn't really know much about this Earth-chan, though.

Was it some sort of hacker? A shadowy corporation? An alien or demon or something? Or maybe she was just having a really bad dream? That'd be nice.

"Alright, I think I've got...something." How long had it been. An hour? She'd lost track. A few final taps on the tablet, and she hooked it up to the TV. Helen could see the screensaver flicker away, replaced with a digital notepad page full of lyrics. There were a few notes like 'chorus' and 'repeat' to the sides as well. Giving her a few minutes to look it over, Hana began carefully turning on the keyboards and plugging her guitar in. "I really hope it's still in tune. I can't really test it first..." She winced at the thought.

"Here goes!" She selected the proper BPM and picked a synth drumbeat for one keyboard, waiting for Helen to look ready...taking a deep breath...and hitting the start button. The speaker came to life, setting the pace...and, thankfully, nothing else happened. Hana let out a sigh of relief and moved to the second keyboard. Pick the right instrument setting, record, and...the teen carefully played a simple rhythm before hitting 'repeat' on the device. Now both keyboards were playing the chosen sounds on a loop. And, Earth-chan seemed to approve. So far.

Hana adjusted her guitar to the proper position, swallowing. Hesitating...and then joining in on the instrument. No flying objects yet! She gave Helen a nod, glanced at the TV screen one last time, and began to sing.

Hana had been tilting her head towards the TV and making eyes at Helen, hoping she'd spotted the 'Repeat from the top' marking at the bottom of her lyrics. No airborne electronics so far, but maybe Earth-chan wanted to wait for them to finish before showing any disapproval.

Hana wasn't exactly sure what to do about this new development. For now, she tried to take cover behind a shelf across the aisle, although the spotlight continued to point right at her. At least the floating tablets made it clear why items had been flying off the shelves earlier.

Hana glanced around the shelf as the ghost cried out, reflexively covering her eyes with her free hand. Her glasses were no help, as the intense beam of light surrounded her, blinding the poor musician. She let out another yelp of surprise as something smashed into her hasty cover, sending other items tumbling off the shelves to bounce off her or clatter to the floor around her.

All she could think of to do was to awkwardly backpedal away from the loud noises, half-squatting to try to remain behind cover.
Unfortunately she couldn't actually see where was she was going, eyes tightly shut, one hand still trying to protect them from the blinding light. Hopefully Helen was fairing better, although Hana couldn't even check on her at the moment.

She really should've paid more attention to whatever abilities that annoying popup had said she'd been assigned, but she hadn't really taken the idea seriously until a ghost appeared and started attacking them.

In the split-second before the flash, Helen opened her menu and searched for the commands – but before she could try anything with them, the flash from the spotlights blinded her. Then she felt something careen straight into her torso, knocking her off her feet. “Fuck!” she said, narrowly catching herself. Come to think of it, was she always this durable?[break][break]
As she stood up again and blinked thrice, Helen lamented her choice of action. So standing her ground against the ghost girl was a bad idea, wasn’t it?[break][break]

Blinded, Hana had stumbled out into the open in one of the nearby aisles. Thankfully that effect seemed to be wearing off, bright spots clearing as the spotlights flickered and weakened. Blinking, glancing about, Hana realized her bad positioning and scurried back into cover, knocking several boxes off the nearest shelf.

Keeping an eye on the monologuing ghost, she poked at the air a few times until she succeeded at opening up that strange system menu again. "Okay, that won't work. And that won't work. And that...won't work." All Hana could see were system warnings that her various abilities would fail if she used them. Simply escaping didn't seem to be an option, either.

"Miss Helen!? I hope it gave you, like, a laser gun or magic wand or something!" Hana poked out of cover long enough to locate her partner for this fight, calling out to her. "I don't think I can do anything to a ghost!" Plucking an item off the shelf, she flung it towards their enemy, although it harmlessly flew past the ghostly musician. Even if she had better aim next time, Hana had a feeling it would just phase right through her.
