The sound of wolves howling, and wings beating in the distance, made her look forwards. Her eyes narrowed as she held out her fan. Shotsuren, Daitsuren, and Kenmyoren floated forward, ready to engage in whatever it was that was heading towards them. Perhaps it was because of their presence that these beasts were drawn to this area. They must have stirred a ruckus while beating back those creatures that had invaded their ship.

"Looks like a hoard, if anything." The trees were shaking left and right, and out came a pack of wolves, huge, and certainly unhappy to see them. In the sky flew a few birds of prey of sorts. Hikari was less interested in those, though she would keep an eye out. "Six birds and three wolves." She counted, before leaping forward into action.

Hikari was not one to wait for the fight to get to her. Her confidence in her skills had grown since she first started this whole leveling-up nonsense. Bursting into action, she waved through and cut the first wolf that had met her, slicing through its upper leg as she weaved past it. Daitsuren flew forward, cutting the second by its hind leg, while the third for Kenmyoren's blade straight through its left front leg.

"I'll leave the birds to you both." Six of the birds, Akane and Alessandra should be able to handle them. Hikari smirked as she toyed around the wolves. It would be a pleasure taking these three down.

As the next set of monsters came into view Akane would set down the crate of supplies she was carrying in her skeletal arms. After all, she was going to need them for the fighting about to take place. While it seemed that there weren't any more foes than last time the fact that six of them could fly was going to be a pain as Akane didn't have any ranged attacks. As such she figured that Hikari would handle most of the birds since her swords could attack at range. However, upon hearing Hikari speak the raven-haired assassin would just let out a sigh. It seemed the other women's bloodlust was being more detrimental than helpful at this point. Akane however wouldn't try and convince the other women to change her mind as she felt like it'd just be like talking to a wall. As such the assassin would simply step forward with her sword in hand.

Once the birds were within five meters she would extend the reach by turning the blade into an AoE attack that hit all of the birds for her PWR -1 in a bleed. As the attack connected it would sever the wings of the three weakest birds causing them to crash to the ground while knocking the other three off course. The attack didn't manage to kill any of the birds it left all of them close to death. "Alessandra you deal with the ones that can't fly I'll deal with the other three." As if on qeue the first of the remaining birds that could fly would try and dive attack Akane. However, the assassin would quickly sidestep the attack before slashing the bird in half with her sword as it now did her PWR and MAGI in damage as she had applied a bleed effect with it.

It didn't take long for the groups answer to be met. As the sounds of wolves and wings was easily heard. However, until they came into vision Alessandra couldn't tell if it was one creature that was both, or two seperate. Something she was starting to learn is that this world was full of mystery and wonder. That she didn't know what was happening with the creatures of the wild but that she knew that something weird was going on. Luckily for her though, the other two would be even quicker on their feet as Hikari was the first to react with pulling her swords and fans forward. [break][break]
Though of course, it was the enemies that decided to attack first. With the wolves and birds flying out from the nearby forest. However, Hikari would immediately jump into action. Though she also was attacking the wolves. Saying that she would leave the... flying birds... to the two of them. Which would be alright. If Alessandra would actually do anything about things flying in the air.[break][break]
Setting down the box she was carrying herself, she'd look over to Akane, who she was supposed to be fighting the birds against and say to her "Yano, I don't know about you but I can't really do anything about the ones that are flying." She'd say to her counterpart.[break][break]
However, that detriment would be short lived as rather than remove somebodies spine, the assassin would take out a sword and after slicing off the wings of a few of the birds Alessandra would look over. "Yeah I can deal with those now." She'd say with a smile to the girl as she'd do a small hop into a run, letting the shadows start to swirl around her as she'd run at the now flightless birds. Charging the closest one she'd run up to it. As it was attempting to regain it's senses she'd use the fact that she had small nails of shadow to once again nick the small creature, running her claws down it's back. And although it wasn't very deep, it was enough damage after Akane's earlier swipe to bring the first of the downed birds... well, down.[break][break]

Hikari knew she was being selfish by attacking the wolves, and yet there was a thrill which sung in her veins. There was also the fact that the wolves were quite interesting, and her plan was to knock at least one of them out and drag it back with her. Perhaps she can make it into some sort of a pet, or perhaps a guard dog for her eventual home? Who knows!

In any case, the wolves pounced, and she dodged. Barely. They were quick, these ones. And without pause, Hikari lifted her sword and stabbed at the first. It roared in agony, before she followed it up with Daitsuren flying forwards and carving through its eye, straight through to its brain, killing it immediately.

This made the second and third one hesitate. Hikari took advantage of this, and ran straight towards the second. Kenmyoren was already flying straight as an arrow, catching the second on its chest. Using her subclass, she raised her hands and made a grabbing gesture, conjuring up a huge shadow claw that rendered the beast from head to tail.

"Two down, one to go." She grinned at the last one, before it back-peddalled. Perhaps it was afraid of her now. Or perhaps it could sense the predatory nature of Hikari. She was the hunter now.

With the first of her birds taken care of Akane would gaze up at the two remaining ones in the air. It was clear that they knew they had the advantage of being able to stay in the air. This of course meant that she had to wait for them to try and dive down to attack them as she couldn't do her sword trick again. However, she didn't idly stand there and do nothing. While she was waiting she would lift her left hand up aiming it at her own chest before she used extraction on herself plugging her hand up to the wrist into her own chest before pulling out her own bone marrow. Upon removing her hand that was now coated in her own blood a small amount of blood would spray out of her chest as she took F-rank damage to her VIT.

However, it would also increase her PWR by 25%. The birds seeing Akane injure herself would make their move the first one diving at her fast. Akane however was quicker and would avoid its strike. The second bird would waste to time following up with an attack of its own raking its claws across her chest. However, her bone armor would shatter as it protected her from the damage. As the second bird tried to take it back to the sky Akane impaled its wing with one of her skeletal arms and threw it to the ground where she stabbed her sword into its head killing it as the final remaining bird flew back into the sky.

While Miss Hikari was off dealing with the wolves that she had decided to take on herself, Alessandra knew that there was no point in worrying about her. Hell, she didn't think she had to worry about either of her partners to be fair. But Hikari had danced further ahead than the other two to take on the wolves and so Alessandra, focused on her own fight, wasn't entirely sure what was happening with her, much more intent on making sure that she wans't about to die herself. [break][break]
Instead, after she had managed to managed to defeat the first bird, although the other two were now wingless, that didn't mean that they weren't defenseless. Even if they were hampered they were still beasts that, while the other two may not need to worry about as much, Alessandra would still need to worry about. [break][break]
With the first bird now cawwing at her, and beginning to waddle forward even on it's shredded wings, it was still going quickly enough that the first one would be on top of her in a short amount of time. Unfortunately, without it's wings it truly was far less adept at dealing with targets when it too, was on the ground.[break][break]
Alessandra switching stances as the shadows that had orgionally been swirling around her now forming once again into a large maw and extended claws. Once again aiming at ripping the throat out of the first bird, though with the bird aiming to attack her at well, instead she ended up connecting with the shoulder, and the shoulder already being weakned from the first attack, meant that she was able to rip it clean off, leaving the bird now unable to move, and starting to bleed out on the ground as Alessandra would narrowly miss a peak from the last bird that had been making it's way closer to her the entire time.[break][break]

The final wolf and her had a showdown. It looked at her, and she looked at it. They stared into each other's eyes, each unwilling to give ground. And why should they give ground to each other? The wolf believed itself to be the alpha now. Its packmates are dead, and therefore it was the de facto alpha. But across from it was the woman who took down its alpha and his mate.

Hikari smirked. She watched as the wolf flexed on its haunches. She knew it was about to make its move soon, and she was ready to meet in in stride. Her swords floated alongside her, Shotsuren taking its position, with Daitsuren and Kenmyoren flanked her first sword. She herself was poised for combat.

In a blink of an eye, both of them were upon each other. The wolf tried to get a bite of her shoulder, hoping to pin her down. But Hikari was just slightly a bit faster, dodging down before driving Shotsuren through the wolf's thigh. It yelped in pain, leaping backwards.

The woman did not let off. She bounded forward, her sword pinning the wolf's hind legs down. Down and out, the wolf was howling in pain as it peered up towards its aggressor. Hikari looked at it straight in the eye, before making a decision. Instead of killing the creature, she used Kenmyoren's sword hilt to knock it out. She would then bind it using one of the supplies that were laying around, ones that they were collecting.

Taking out her fan, she would summon the dragon that would carry the creature. "I'm taking this one as my prize." The dragon growled before wrapping its tail on the bound wolf. "Perhaps it'll make a good guard dog for the guild." Hikari smirked to herself, before turning her attention to the rest of the group. It seems like they were also just about to wrap up.

Akane let out another sigh as she was forced to wait for the last bird she was engaged with to once again try and attack her. She could have of course summoned her skeletal companion and most likely dealt with it that way. However, she wanted to save it for when she was more at risk, and well despite it having the advantage of the sky the assassin was still more than fast enough to avoid it. The waiting would finally come to an end as the bird once again tried to dive-bomb her. Much like last time, Akane would easily avoid the attack however this time the bird wouldn't get away alive as she once again lashed out with her claws cutting deep into its left side. It would remain in the air for a few seconds before crashing to the ground dead.

With her foe now slain she would look towards Hikari. Her golden eyes narrowed as she noticed that the woman had captured the last wolf as if she were going to keep it as a pet. Akane could feel the anger rising up inside her which was strange as it wasn't something she felt often. She would take a few moments to calm herself as she walked over to Hikari and looked down at the wolf. "Might I recommend next time you don't put the group in danger for a dumb pet next time?"

With the first bird that she attacked lying dead on the floor. The second one slowly bleeding out as the last ounces of vitality left it, it meant that there was only one flightless bird left for her to deal with. Unfortunately, it was also a bird that was already on top of her, and one that was able to rather easily attempt to peck at her as she would have to narrowly dodge it's first attack. [break][break]
Unfortunately for her however, was the fact that she was taking the longest to deal with her little group of foes, and she was already helped out with taking out her group by Akane, meaning that she knew she would have to deal with her last one rather quickly in order to both save a little bit of face, but also in order to make sure that she wasn't holding the group up. [break][break]
With this bird appearing slightly stronger than the other two, it meant that it was going to be able to take just that much more of a beating than the others. And while it may not be enough, for someone who was fairly weak like Alessandra currently was, it was a pretty big difference in terms of the amount of damage she was able to do. Because even though she was able to rake her claws against the side of this bird as she dodged a flailing wing attack from it, it still wasn't enough to kill the bird as she'd have to utilize her first stack of Slaughter, a small glisten applying to her blades as she'd quickly do a small run around, being able to run her claws, although far more shallow, along the other side of the bird. Doing yet another small bit of damage to the bird. But luckily doing enough that between the two attacks she would be able to fell the creature as she'd start running over to catch up to the other two, hearing the very end of the conversation and saying. "Really as long as you can guarantee it won't do something like try to attack us during the rest of this journey I don't think there's a huge problem with it?" She'd say trying to at least offer her small opinion on the matter before turning and saying. "I'll go grab my box again and let's get moving probably?" She'd offer a bit of a break inbetween in case one of the other two had a better idea on what was to be done next.[break][break]

Mission 3 - Into Ancient Ruins

Hikari towed the creature using her dragon, before grabbing the supplies that she had scavenged. She made her way towards the makeshift fort which was their staging point. "I'll be sure to keep that in mind next time." Hikari patted her dragon, which was dragging the very unconscious wolf. Soon, they made it back to the fort, and Hikari made sure to pay a few people to keep the wolf guarded and caged. She would be back for it.

Immediately after handing in the supplies they scavenged, a new mission popped up for Hikari.

"Exploration of some ruins..." Hikari accepted the mission. "It seems we're not done here. I suppose I'll be back for my darling cutie." She blew a kiss to the unconscious wolf, before looking towards Akane and Alessandra. "Shall we?"

After asking around for a little bit, they would get the information about an area where ruins could be found. It seemed to hold some sort of power, and a few people had already tried their luck. Hikari supposed this was another way for the System to push people. A forced mission. A game in which they were the characters, not truly human beings to this System and "Earth-Chan".

"If you're all ready, let's head into these ruins." Hikari checked her inventory, getting her items ready for another round with this godforsaken island.

Upon arriving at the fort Akane would drop off her supplies at the designated area before vanishing from sight to regain her bone armor. However, unlike last time she would still remain visible to Hikari and Alessandra. As Hikari paid some people to cage and watch over her wolf the raven-haired woman wondered just how her friend planned to tame it. After all the wolf wasn't exactly all that friendly to humans. It wasn't her problem at the end of the day as she would have just killed it instead of trying to tame it herself.

The small break soon came to an end as another mission would pop up for Akane which she assumed was the same for the other two women with her. It seemed that a ruin had been found on the island and they had to explore it now. Akane would stretch her back as she listened to Hikari speak. "Exploring some unknown ruins doesn't sound like a great idea but I'm ready." Her golden eyes would then shift to Alessandra. "I recommend you stay close to me once we get inside. It'll be easier to keep you alive if you do."

With their small band carrying the supplies into the town, and an unconscious wolf being brought along with, Alessandra was more than happy to just follow along behind the other two as she seemed to be happy enough to follow them into this shack of a town. Hastily built ramparts and wooden walls protecting their somewhat hastily constructed buildings. It wasn't an overly large settlement compared to some of the places she had seen since ending up in this new world. [break][break]
However, shortly after bringing her supplies to the designated vendor, it seemed she must have been the last to deliver them because immediately the system popped up with another message. Something about exploring ruins?[break][break]
Walking up to the other two girls that had already seemed to be together she'd nod her head towards Hikari's comments. "Seems like you're right and we have more to do." She'd reiterate to her and nod her head as she'd let her lead the way towards the ruins.[break][break]
"Ready as I'll ever be." She'd say to her before heading down after her. Though hearing HIkari's comment she'd say back "Sounds like a good idea. For as much as the shadows are my friend seeing in the dark isn't exactly something I'm particularly proficient at." She'd say with a small chuckle. Before realizing, wait, that was a pretty big drawback for someone that was supposed to be a stealth fighter wasn't it? Maybe she'd have to look into something that would fix that problem... one thing at a time she'd figure as she'd continue travelling through the ruins as she'd then ask the group "Did anyone's pop up give any hints as to what was in here or why we're here?"[break][break]

Mission 3 - Into Ancient Ruins

The way into the ruins was quick. The path had been plowed through by other adventurers in the area, which made it easier for Hikari to traverse through alongside her partners for this mission. She was sure that there was something dangerous within its bowels, which only excited her more. Hikari was ready to continue to hone her skills, to see where her newfound subclass could take her.

Taking the first few steps into the ruins, the place seemed too old to even be here. Too old to even be able to stand. She shook her head, eyes peeled as she slowly descended the large staircase that led down. She had picked up a torch, and quickly used Shotsuren as a flint to ignite the end. It provided some illumination, while her swords floated around her menacingly.

"It goes deeper, it seems..." She whispered, before rounding a corner. The place went deeper still. Each step took them a floor down, and in no time at all, they seemed to have entered the final floor. Four floors. Four sets of grand staircases. And at the centre of this floor was a large statue.

"Is that Earth?" She took a small step closer, raising her torch. "And a map beneath..." Hikari made no move to touch the map. At least, not yet. "Perhaps this was what we're after? All of those stairs...led to this. A map to somewhere, or something." She pondered out loud, circling the pedestal that held the map, and around the large statue of Earth-chan depicted as a god of some sort.

"Shall we take the map, and deal with the consequences?" Hikari asked, looking at her companions.

As the group started making their way into the ruins Akane would take up the role of the rearguard. She wasn't exactly keen on letting Alessandra watch her back since she didn't really know what all the blonde-haired women could actually do. Luckily it didn't seem like anything was lying in wait to ambush them from the dark at least yet anyway. As they reached the final set of stairs Akane's bone armor would reappear around her body giving her the extra protection and second skin she was so used to at this point.

As the statue of Earth-chan came into view a look of disgust would appear on the assassin's face. Her gaze would soon however come to rest on the map upon the altar which just screamed trap to her. "Yes, it seems like that is in fact a statue of the earth. As for the map, it's most certainly a trap of some sort. So it'll be best if I grab it since my armor can protect me if needed." Assuming neither Hikari nor Alessandra had a problem with her grabbing the map Akane would use one of her skeletal arms to remove the map from its spot on the altar. As soon as she did so a large stone sword would crash down where the map was as one of the stone warriors being unable to see her would just attack the altar instead.

As all of the monsters ambushed the group Akane would let out a small sigh. However, she would waste no time in acting in response lashing out with one of her skeletal arms killing the closest stone warrior as it ripped through its chest. As she became visible once more the stronger of the two wolves lunged at her. Akane however was able to avoid the attack stabbing her sword into her own leg using her extraction ability to apply a bleed to herself once again and buffing the sword in the process. She would then stab the sword into the wolf's side killing it as it punctured it's lung. "Hikari I'm going to need to take your spine soon just let me know when you're ready."

Something that seemed rather odd to her was the fact that the path had been already covered it seemed. Small footsteps that seemed to be found in spots where mud had dried implying previous travels as well as small bits and cracks that might have shown some sorts of signs of fighting. Meaning that whatever, or whomever, was here, had already encountered enemies. But it also just meant that she was more curious as to if they received the same invitation into this tomb that those who came before did. Was the system just messing with them? She wasn't entirely sure but the only way to know would be to get stronger and find out. A path she planned on taking.[break][break]
As the ruins seemed to open up slightly, it seemed like there was a large staircase heading down, one that their leader would use their torch to attempt to see deeper as Alessandra would wait for her analysis. "Well the only way forward is down." She'd respond as the group would continue going lower before... Earth? [break][break]
"What would that be doing here?" She would ask, seeing as they had gone down quite some ways into the earth to discover this pedastal. Map included as she'd instead stay at the front looking it over for signs of wear and tear on the statue. But with Akane offering to take the obviously trapped Map from the pedastal, Alessandra would offer no signs of stopping her as she'd instead take a step away from her. [break][break]
Though not enough that she wouldn't be caught with a bit of surprise at the sword suddenly coming down at the group as some monsters attempted to attack them. It seemed like a mixture of monsters from previously, as well as some new ones made of stone as she'd attempt to look for the weakest of the bunch. Spotting one bird that appeared smaller than the rest and singling that one out. If it was a fledgling or not, it was still an enemy. One that she would have to deal with as she'd charge at it first, using the fact it couldn't see her as a small blessing as she'd deliver small cuts across it's right wings, crippling any sort of flight it had and setting her up to be able to finish it off in the next few seconds as she'd look to her sides to see another bird, possibly its mother? That didn't seem all too happy with what she was doing. [break][break]
