Everything has changed. Normally as someone that studies evolution would be ok or even fascinated by what apparently happened around him while he worked in the lab. Alastor’s legs moved almost on their own. Like he was hypnotized or even enchanted. As he trekked the empty streets, he took note of a few things. One, there were no other people. In fact there seemed to be no other living beings. Two, some the new additions to the city. Some buildings remained untouched but others, however were overgrown by plants or others flooded with water or sustained water damage or even fell completely. Most notable were the buildings that had seemed to now stretch seemingly endlessly in the sky. No sign of an end visible to Alastor. Maybe he was a bit curious or excited about this. Mostly he was worried. These were big changes and they were definitely not for the better. Alastor saw a restaurant he’d eat at often when he worked all day in the lab. It currently looked like it was taken over by plants. The windows smashed and vines slithered through the holes. Deciding to keep moving to avoid dwelling on the downfall of a favored restaurant. Walking down the road crumbled office buildings and stores. Some ripped apart some in shambles. Alastor took note of the untouched comic book store and smiled. Well, at least there was that. He was happy to see his favorite boba tea place still stood despite being a relatively small place. Unfortunately he couldn’t say the same for the giant book store he loved to sit and read in. “Damn. With what’s going on I doubt Amazon would still be delivering so maybe no books till I find a new place.” Alastor took a turn at the next intersection and kept moving. Startling something in the road. Alastor pulled out the shock baton and readied it in case of another attack. The buzzing and crackling of the baton startled the creatures in the shadows causing them to scatter. A couple of dogs was all. He sighed relieved it wasn’t another mutated animal. Thinking about animals brought up Jaco. He hated what he had to do but it was probably the only thing he could do. That’s what he told himself.

He felt, lonely, sad, confused. Any way to try and scientifically explain this didn’t work. There was just no explanation for all this. He continued on walking down the streets of New York, or, what it had become. He just wanted to know what is going on, well, more importantly he wanted to see other people. To know he wasn’t alone in this new version of the city. He didn’t even know if this was going on just here in New York or all over the world. He just kept pressing on as he knew he should to keep searching for others or maybe a food store not ruined by the change. Finding a convenience store, he turned off the baton, tucked it away, and decided to make a stop inside see what he could find. Delighted to find the store is untouched though empty of any people. Without another thought he got to work finding some bags and started to stuff them with food and beverages and other supplies he may need. Who knows what he will see or experience in the future now. He grabbed foods he particularly liked. Trying to keep most of it stuffs that doesn’t spoil any time soon. Jerky and green tea he grabbed plenty of. He also grabbed medicines, bandages, first aid kits, and some other miscellaneous items. After grabbing plenty he walked to the register “What’s that? Forget about it? On the house? Oh you’re too kind sir, truly a kind and giving man. Have a great day ok?” He joked pretending there was actually someone at the register. With a laugh he walked to the exit waving a hand goodbye to no one before exiting the store.

“Ok, now that I have my supplies I should be good for a while and not need to search for food for days. Not that I’m not probably surrounded by possible food sources.” Alastor was still in New York City after all. Surely there were plenty food places that survived whatever this whole thing is. “Think I’ll head to Times Square. Maybe others will meet in a nice big spot.” So with that Alastor took his quickest route he could to Times Square. Ducking in side streets along the way in case of danger. Though, no danger was found. Yes he felt a bit silly Ducking and sneaking around like a military personnel or an adventurer, but he was not looking forward to another fight for a while. Finally, with another few blocks behind him he reached it. “Times Square.” He looked up at the giant TV screens. Some broken, some cracked, some completely off, and some unharmed. Even still, this brought joy to Alastor. He always looked up at the screens and watch the bright TVs display ads and other programs. Though he seemed to notice a lock of people. He stepped closer only to stop when a wave of connected hexagons moves in the air in front of him like a barrier or something. A window popped up in front of Alastor reading. “Congratulations on almost completing your tutorial. Now as a last step to complete it you must simply cross the barrier into the real world to exit your tutorial. Pass barrier 0/1” "Well, glad to be done with the tutorial. Gotta say it was something." Alastor was happy to receive news that he was done with his tutorial. Whatever this meant he didn’t care as he hoped this meant he could find others. Though, this might also mean more monsters. He reached into his pocket and readied his shock baton as he slowly inched towards the barrier. It appeared where his body approached. Putting up a hand just an inch from the barrier he saw a patch of hexagons appear. He then quickly opened his coat to check on the canister of ooze. It was safe in one piece. He then closed his jacket looking ahead. “Well, guess this is where my new life begins.” With that Alastor tightened the grip on the baton and stepped through the barrier. He didn’t feel it as he stepped through but he could see the hexagons appear as he stepped through then disappear behind him. When he brought his attention back to Times Square he noticed there were changes. Some buildings were not as damaged as before he crossed the barrier but most the area was the same. Except, he was pleasantly surprised to see other people in the area. Like him they were gifted with powers. “So guess I’m not so alone. From here on out I am not just one who studies evolution. I am an example of evolution. These powers interest me. I think I’ll see how far I can take them.” He didn’t want to admit he was actually a bit excited about all this. Mostly because this wasn’t something he should be excited about. But, he had to admit. Becoming like a superhuman was pretty cool.
