Orvis slapped Grumble's side, who let out a whine, but began to charge towards the herd.[break][break]
Orvis could feel his heart racing as they approached the stampede, who were still in early development of their chase, not too riled up yet. He was excited, and a bit scared. He didn't know how many boars there were exactly, but it was enough he felt he could confidently manage. [break][break]
Thinking about the skill he had, Orvis did his best to exude it as strong as he could. [break][break]

Now it had always created varied responses from creatures, but one thing was for certain, he became a target in some sort of way. He just needed to be careful on how he used this skill, and not rely on it too much.[break][break]
"Come on!" Orvis shouted, kicking Grumble's sides, urging him to go faster.[break][break]
"Just a little bit more!"[break][break]
He leaned forward, lowering himself towards Grumble, who was still running at full speed, striding through the fields and the beaten path until they were now a healthy distance from the boar, closing in on them from one side. [break][break]
"Here piggy-piggy!" Orvis shouted out, flailing frantically on the back of his drake mount.[break][break]
"Grumble, get ready to run!"[break][break]
Orvis' voice was drowned out by the sound of rushing hooves, and Grumble's own excited huffs. He took a deep breath, preparing himself for the next step.[break][break]
Slowly but surely, portions of the stampede started to take notice, breaking away from the original path. They were not like regular pigs he had seen - they were large and burly, with bristled backs and mighty tusks.[break][break]
One of them snorted, turning its head towards Orvis, who gave it a thumbs up in response.[break][break]
Unsurprisingly, they all squealed ferociously, before charging straight towards them.[break][break]
"Time to go!" Orvis shouted, gripping onto Grumble's sides. The monster drake snorted, before taking off, sprinting away from the stampede in an attempt to lure them away.[break][break]
As the monsters caught up with them, Grumble kicked up the dirt, his claws digging into the ground and propelling himself forwards. He was quick, but these monsters were still fat and fast, and Orvis could start to feel the ground tremors more strongly.

The atmosphere turned tense as the ominous melody continued to weave through the air, accompanied by the haunting voice singing words that sent shivers down their spines. Orvis, caught off guard by the sudden appearance and attack of the demonic clown, found himself in a dire situation. The bone club he wielded had struck true, creating a momentary reprieve, but the danger lingered.

Tristan's sudden burst of speed, triggered by his Runner's High ability, was a welcome development. The swift knee to the stomach of the clown disrupted its impending assault on the group, providing the needed distraction for both of them to make a hasty retreat. "I'm not so sure we can do this!"[break][break]

Orvis didn't need another prompt. As Tristan shouted for him to run, he slapped the neck of Grumble, galloping away from the menacing clown, the flickering lights and surreal atmosphere serving as a disorienting backdrop to their escape. Grumble, responding to Orvis's urgency, moved the opposite direction to where Tristan ran. If Orvis skill was acting as some kind of lure, maybe he could buy Tristan some time - his attack seemed to have more of an impact. [break][break]

Tristan's strategy was clear – create distance and seek cover. Orvis followed suit, his mind racing as he scanned the area. There was no point in trying to hide, he needed to stay close to Grumble, his only saving grace. Leaping over debris, remnants of joy, and weaving through candyfloss stalls and the like, Orvis noticed the odd limp in his pet's stride. That previous attack had landed, leaving a nasty cut across Grumble's hide, that flickered with red pixels.

The clown's screech of annoyance fuelled their determination to escape this perilous encounter. Orvis glanced over his shoulder to see the balloon-shaped creation, eerily resembling Tristan, inflating and floating towards him.[break][break]

"Hey! Over here!" Orvis called out, his focus shifting between navigating the terrain and keeping an eye on the pursuing menace. Holding out a hand, Orvis activated 'egg snatcher', reaping data from the jester as pixels were tugged from its essence. They wove through the air, cascading into streams of DNA as it absorbed itself into Orvis' rucksack, where his main egg was kept secure.

The demonic clown, undeterred by their attempts to escape, maintained an unsettling pace. Just what was the purpose of that balloon? Was it just toying with them?

It was at this point, Orvis realised it was no longer following him. Tristan was in danger. "Shit. Grumble, turn around, we need to cut it off."

Faster. They needed to move faster. Orvis felt his heart pounding out his chest, he could feel the strain on Grumble, yet suddenly, like the wind rushing past them, he saw 1s and 0s stream across his and Grumble's skin. A surge of energy, growing in strength together. [break][break]

Orvis had to grip on tight, almost thrown off from the sudden burst of speed from Grumble. "Woah!" The beast surged forwards, picking up in speed as he slammed through the debris, lowering his horns and slamming them into the candyfloss machine they passed earlier, heaving it off the ground and hurtling it at the clown's location. Not knowing the aftermath of this strange balloon construction...[break][break]

Riding on the back of his companion, Orvis had his newly acquired Utopia Bandana tied around his head, making him appear like a classic monster breeder (which he secretly loved, by the way). [break][break]
Not many people lived in the open worlds anyway, preferring to tuck away in small cities, or travel to dungeons for the main loot and good stat gains. Living out there would require that you could constantly stay in the open or have a strong settlement or good defences, both of which many could not.[break][break]
Which is what makes monster's so awesome - they protect you from the dangers of the open world. However, finding new spawn points where you could find that perfect creature is next to impossible unless you have good knowledge, luck or a dungeon that you think will spawn the monster you need. This is just some of the advice he got from fellow monster tamers and summoners.[break][break]
The countryside is not like how he remembered it. It's like Earth-Chan couldn't be bothered to remake the small towns and villages in between major landmarks, and chose to just make it all the same green, rolling hills instead. As Grumble trotted along, Orvis spotted a patch of sunlight up ahead, where the thick shrubs and trees were forming into a grove, flowers dancing around the edge where the walls of natural barricades seemed to die away.[break][break]
Maybe the boars were all resting? He couldn't find them out in the open fields. [break][break]
Ideas ran through his head. What if he could deal with them while they were sleeping?[break][break]
Orvis slowed Grumble down to a trot, peering through the trees as he approached the grove. He looked around, the sound of birdsong and the gentle sway of the wind all that could be heard. The man dismounted, placing his hand on Grumble's hard scales, watching his surroundings.[break][break]
"I'm just going to take a peek further in. Keep watch, okay?" Orvis looked to Grumble, who huffed in agreement, before stepping forwards.

Orvis hesitated, his gaze flickering between the warm invitation and the bustling celebration. The atmosphere seemed alive with joy, a stark contrast to the isolation he had grown accustomed to. Dee Dee's gracious welcome echoed in his ears, and a shy smile played on his lips.[break][break]

"Uh, thank you, Dee Dee. I appreciate the welcome, but maybe I should come back if you're all busy," he stammered, an uncertainty lacing his words. His eyes scanned the diverse assembly of creatures and guild members, unsure of his place in the midst of their jubilation. "I don't want to intrude on your event!"[break][break]

Yet, Grumble, ever the steadfast companion, nudged him with a miffed rumble and a gentle push of its scaly snout. Orvis, unable to resist the insistence, found himself yielding to the persistent encouragement. "H- Hey, okay fine!" he conceded, a mixture of amusement and gratitude in his voice.[break][break]

As he followed Dee Dee into the lively mess-hall, a wave of relief washed over Orvis. The camaraderie and the palpable sense of belonging enveloped him like a comforting embrace. His eyes wandered to the tables adorned with a feast, and the tempting aroma teased his senses, coaxing his stomach to voice its hunger.[break][break]

"Oh, the food looks really good," he remarked, patting Grumble's side. The drake seemed to share in his excitement, its presence a source of reassurance. Accepting the 'Waddle-Dee Dee's Beginners guide to the system' with gratitude, Orvis felt a renewed curiosity about the guild and the world they inhabited.

Deciding to immerse himself in the festivities, Orvis observed and mingled with the guild members. The infectious atmosphere carried a promise of acceptance and hope, kindling a spark within him. Perhaps, just perhaps, he had stumbled upon a haven where he could contribute and truly belong.[break][break]
Awkwardly, he lingered at the outskirts of the guild hall, unsure whether to get involved or not. It seemed this was a very well established guild, and turning up now to join was perhaps not the best of times. It was a little chaotic, and certainly not as formal as he had expected initially.

Well, it's been some time since Orvis put himself out there. [break][break]

He guessed this was a start...[break][break]

A guild dedicated to the nurture and companionship of earth's new creatures - Utopia. It seemed like the perfect fit, and after his failed attempt at creating his own guild during the first few weeks of the initial Mass Awakening, he felt like he could hopefully fit in well here. [break][break]

Having spent a year in a bad state, hidden away from the dangers that Earth-Chan set up, Orvis finally mustered up the courage to try again. To build up the strength to defend the ones he cares about. After many trips to basic training grounds like the 'countryside', he started growing comfortable in the fact that there was always someone else that was stronger, someone who could help instead. But after a bad run in with a dungeon that split his party up, with many casualties, that changed his outlook on life. Again.[break][break]

Nervously, Orvis stepped up through the fields of Draco Islands, winding up the vibrant path with the guild hall at the top of a valley hill. Wind turbines gave the place a homely feel, like it was cut off from the chaos that sometimes ensued through this semi-post-apocalyptic world. [break][break]

With his equine-drake, Grumble, trotting by his side, Orvis approached the entrance of the guild hall, poking his head inside, keeping close to Grumble for emotional support. "Um, hello? This is the Utopia Guild, right? I'd like to join... If that's okay of course!"

Orvis had always been a bit of an introvert, finding solace in the quiet corners of his own world, especially after the tragic incidents involving his friends and family after the first round of awakening. But today, the roaring engines and vibrant atmosphere of Motor City had brought him back, feeling like a tidal wave crashing into his reclusiveness. He clung to the handles of his small yellow moped, contently riding through the streets until he arrived to the track that others started to gather.[break][break]
Beside him, his pet, Grumble, galloped alongside him. "Must be nice not having to carry me around for once?" Orvis jested to the creature.

The invitation to this race had come out of the blue, a chance encounter with a flyer that caught his eye during a rare venture into town, which quickly became a virtual message on his system. The promise of excitement and adventure drew him in, the prospect of a new experience luring him out of his self-imposed isolation. Orvis adjusted his worn-out leather jacket and took a deep breath, steeling himself for the unknown.

As he approached the starting line, he couldn't help but feel a mixture of excitement and trepidation. The eclectic gathering of racers, each with their unique vehicles and companions, added a surreal touch to the already fantastical setting. One individual, an imposing figure in striped overalls, caught his attention as he fussed over a monstrous, grumbling entity that seemed to be part pet, part machine - but mostly train…

Kurai, another racer with a whip strapped to his back and a bandanna worn like an armband, joined the scene and greeted Mr. Beast. Orvis, feeling like an outsider, observed the interaction from a distance, totally transfixed on this undead train creature. The camaraderie and odd companionship displayed by the group intrigued him. It was a far cry from the solitude he had become accustomed to over the past year.

Chugging a little closer, Orvis pulled in on his small vehicle, completely dwarfed by the entity that Mr. Beast had walked into. Even his gnarly pet, Grumble, seemed to be quite miffed by the creature.

“Um, excuse me-” Orvis called out, pulling up his driving goggles and pulling his scarf down from his mouth, “Is this race safe? I’m not familiar with this place very much…”
