It was there - something. Something amiss, but no children. Only the sound of their laughs, a rather disturbing thing from Malorie's perspective, but that only made her lean heavier into her caution. She was in a state where she needed to be absolutely cautious about her positioning as she could not make out what was in the field immediately. Her vision obfuscated by the thin woodland tree and their bracken limbs. Slowly she made her way closer, her eyes shifting over the clearing for anything and she did find something. She had heard children, because she had heard children. They were buried with just their heads above ground in what seemed like a stupor. Like crops planted for the field... but what was planting children out here?

As she stepped behind a tree she finally caught sight of a massive scarecrow. It looked out of place, but its pure black shape gave her more than a bit of a chill. Then she saw it, the tag above her opponent's head. Identifying the innocuous scarecrow instantly as a [Specter of the Field]. That was good... Its stats were incredibly skewed as well, but it made sense if it had no SPD since it was an inanimate type... She would do well to act quick, if she was going to hit it hard. She would open with eye beam and move on depending on what it reacted with.

She could likely get away with a sneak attack... after all, she had no love for a creature with no eyes, and less for one made of straw. Rushing into the field Malorie would build the beam in her eyes as she closed in within around seven meters before releasing the concentrated laser. The children beginning to scream as if to warn their captor. Yellow eyes beginning to swivel from the head of the scarecrow as it was blasted by the shot. She would outpace it if this was its best movement. Then the spectre appeared. Malorie's initial hopes were dashed.

Malorie was taking a risk today. It made sense, considering that she had been accompanied by a powerful striker, or DPS, as she had learned was the game term for it recently. A mission that seemed endlessly frequent in the UK countryside - a place she was entirely unfamiliar with. Missing children, or what seemed like children were just playing in the woods without supervision? Honestly, the UK was shameful for this, but that was why the mission was there... right? To cover their incompetence with rewards and a 'oh so grand tale of heroism'. Like a fairy tale.

With that said she was already striding towards the woods alone by the time she felt an update registering her acceptance of the request. It wasn't like she was incompetent either, she just needed time. Dodging attacks from some lumbering beast or sleep-inducing tree she didn't need to approach seemed like a god send from her class. She simply needed eye contact to truly start trying to deduce the problems and a little more to properly crack the code of her quandary.

As the woods became less of a suggestion from the countryside fields to being proper woodlands the woman became eerily more aware of her surroundings. Her eyes would bound around as she evened her breathing. She understood immediately, the wonderful feeling of watchers. If only she could see their eyes.

Not even turning to face her initially, intriguing if a little bit on the edge-y side. That was the level of bold cocky attitude she needed to reach herself though. Her passive not working also told her more than enough about the man before her and her smile only further cracked into a grin at his passable, if awful attempt at humor. It seemed he was not going to actually refuse her asking to party though, that was rather nice at least. He actually looked more and more like some crazy bastard then anything else, but crazy was, again, what she wanted here. She needed to grow and the crazy bastards always did even more insane things then the sane.

"Oh what a shame, rejected immediately," Malorie had to chuckle at the notion, "Don't get your panties in a twist, but your not my type either. Cerulean is definitely a close second, so maybe if they were a hint more on the green side of things, but that's neither here nor there. I was referring to the structure you've been standing in front of." The woman's smile never left as she looked down and locked eyes with the boy, though it was only a slight angle of difference.

"Dr. Malorie Lynne. My title doesn't really pertain to much in this world, and my first name is far too long for combat. So do please just call me Lynne or Doc, I'll respond just fine to both," She would state as she shook hands with the young man, accepting the invitation somewhat subconsciously. Placing the two in a party bar at the bottom of her vision only for it to fade into background info.

Recerche Watcher. She didn't actually look at the other two since they appeared too slowly on the screen, whatever got the screen closed in this pitch black space the fastest. A second prompt, spot the difference, or die trying. Malorie would frown at the demand, but it read mission like on her daily sudoku board from the app on her phone. A photo before her, then another. A farm view, simple at first as she pointed out what was different. Her inquisitive mind caring more about the puzzle then whatever was going on. A smile spreading over her face as she solved puzzle after puzzle. Until there was a picture of a real wolf and something wolf like, it was as realistic as it could get. She paused to try and tell the two apart. Her synesthesia giving her two very different sensations as she spotted the only difference on the board. The eyes of the wolves were different, not by much, but they were definitely different. She could feel it.

Malorie would select it. A congratulations pop-up, and then she was in her office. confused as something like a brainstalk fell to the ground and exploded in front of her. It was an invigorating feeling to watch it explode over the floor. Looking around everyone in the building was covered by one. She needed to leave... why was she so utterly calm? She wasn't sure, but this was definitely a change. A smile crossed her face as she walked out the door, leaving the building to the braineaters. She had larger fish to fry.
