That would be a nice change, Hana thought. That's how she wound up standing in front of what seemed to be a strip mall, that just happened to have smoke streaming from several of its windows. While holding a large plastic bucket in one hand. [break][break] It didn't even come with any water! Although the people that had given her the mission had assured her it would infinitely refill, once conditions were right. Hopefully that wouldn't be a problem. However, there were several more issues to deal with. How would she safely get in and out? Which one of the multiple quietly smoldering stores should she attempt to extinguish first? [break][break] Also, why were all these people standing outside so...unconcerned? She assumed they were all shop owners and employees. The economy had definitely changed after Earth-chan took over most commerce, but she didn't think people would be this relaxed about seeing their place of business slowly burning down in front of them. The woman has casually walked up to the outside of the mall, shrugging as she pulls her pack of cigarettes from her jacket, the expression on her face the very definition of indifference. She calmly observes the people around as they simply went about their business undeterred, and one of her drones eventually flies into and spears a piece of paper that's caught on fire and brings it up to her. She leans forward, sticking the end of the cigarette against the recovered flaming debris, and with a long drag steps back, exhaling through the side of her lips as she shakes her head at the sight.
"Well, ain't this just a fuckin' mess? And here I thought I was finally going to be able to pick up a change of clothes, some beer... eh, whatever. At least I get to see more of LA..." She turns and looks around, her eyes catching the sight of the young girl, unsteadily wielding a bucket and looking on at the sight with some level of... well, confusion might not be entirely accurate. Maybe it was concern? Who knows. She'd gotten separated from her... partner, for the moment, so it's not like she can just turn around and ask her. Was she going to have to do it? Well, doesn't hurt to try.
In a few steps, the shifty-looking woman has already made her way over to Hana and sized her up, before putting on a huge, almost unnerving smile, the kind only someone who is just slightly off their rocker can give. "Hey there, little miss! You can't possibly be trying to put out this conflagration with just a lil' ol' bucket, are ya? Primarily, they had needed a moment in the shade somewhere, and a cold drink, just a moment to fight off the migraine that was suddenly blossoming along the back of their eyes and mind. The veritable storm of data that came from a good ol' worldhop and the sudden placement in a vibrant and much more player-heavy area was a true test for the floodgates Kia had built between their power—or at least their conceptualization of it—and their conscious thought.
By the time the know-it-all arrives, they're pleasantly... Well, not surprised. But they do find it pleasant to see Marisa taking charge in a social situation. Somehow, they've found the time to change their own clothes, having undoubtedly bartered and danced their way through some conversations to flex and stress-test the new walls around their power. While their former outfit of fine reds and whites was vaguely business-casual with a faint sense of easygoing regality, this teal-tinted and dark dress with a black tie and gold lining certainly felt a touch less approachable. Almost militaristic. Their quick smile still stops them from feeling imposing, and it certainly appears more sane than Marisa's own grin.
"Playing nice with the kids, Mar?" They offer with a look between Hana and Marisa, immediately cleaving away any awkwardness Marisa's general demeanor could create. "It seems a few small fires are a common enough occurance that they have special buckets prepared for the process, so I'd say this little miss is well prepared for a fire fight."
As they so helpfully explain—when had they even had the chance to catch wind of the actual mission objective?—they give a little rock back on their feet, taking their hands out from behind their back to reveal two buckets similar to Hana's own, apparently having quite the hang of the inventory system and intending for the duo to assist her...

Hana had just about made up her mind on where to start when someone spoke up, interrupting her silent pondering. "Huh? Oh! Um, well it's supposed to dispense as much water as we need to put out the fires, but..." She lifted it up, peering down into the currently empty bucket. "...I haven't tested it out yet." Lowering the tool she'd been provided, Hana looked over the stranger, glancing between her and the nearby buildings.

"They didn't give you one? Or...are you not on that mission?" She wouldn't be the only onlooker simply here to watch the building burn, it seemed. Hana cautiously returned that smile, even if the stranger's didn't seem all that friendly.

The next person to arrive flashed a slightly more genuine smile, so Hana's beamed brighter in return. This one also seemed to understand the way the world worked a bit better. "Oh! You are on the same mission after all. That's good. We can work together!"

Hana gave the pair a quick bob of a bow. "It's nice to meet you, Miss Rose, uh...Miss Mar." She stumbled slightly over the name she assumed she'd only heard part of. "My name's Hana. Do you want to set up a party, too? I don't think we'll run into much trouble, but most buffs and stuff seem to only work if you're in a party together." She dutifully pulled up the system menu to display an open party invitation the two should be able to accept, while smoke continued to lazily stream from the nearby building.

She nods as 'Rose' pulled the pair of buckets from seemingly nowhere, offering them a bit of a wider smile before they turned over to Hana.
"Didn't give me one? Ah, I hadn't realized we needed to sign up, or that it'd been assigned to me. Honestly, hadn't checked." She pulls up her party menu and takes a long drag of her cigarette before she nods, clicking on the accept button to join. "Hm! And here we go. You don't think this kind of place would have interesting loot, or strange and interesting developments, would you? This is all different from my online game in significant enough ways that I want to make sure I get everything right." She looks over to Rose and reaches out to them, taking one of the offered buckets with that ever-present, slightly smug smile of hers.

Hana at this point might have noticed that two separate, long objects that float around a bit above Marisa's shoulders, each the shape of incredibly elongated spear tips. They seems to float about and scan things, not seemingly interested in Hana... at least not as some source of danger. They seem happy to just go around and examine the building at a distance, almost as if scouting.
She eventually nods as she examines her bucket, looking to the other buckets nearby... before she glances quizically down at her own with a slowly mounting grin. "Interesting, how these things work. So they really don't fill up until you start actively using them to solve the mission, isn't it?"

Well then. "It is just as best an approximation that remains of a mall, dear Mar, and it is a lower tier mission that amounts to replacing a fire brigade, don't get too loot happy," Rose puts on a bit of a mock chiding tone and titters, before swinging their bucket up and around in a proud presentation. "The requirements of our apparatus are two-fold, the first is to be marked as attending to the mission at hand, the second is to be near enough to a proper source of heat-based risk and distress." If it were based purely off of the ability to operate the magic tool, after all, surely Hana's would be as overflowing as her concern with that level of magical influence.
In demonstration, the aloft bucket is tilted towards Mar's face, until the end of her cigarette graces the bucket and dirties the plastic material. Tugging it back down, Rose presents to all that there's about a half-inches' worth of water sloshing about in their bucket, and starting to bead away and diminish now that the source of "danger" has been removed.
The noubits haven't aimed at her: Mar doesn't feel her threat.

But, Earth-chan sometimes gives out items at the end, along with your points." Hana's eyes flickered over the objects floating near Marisa, but she didn't seem to react. By now, the teen had seen plenty of weird things hovering around people like that. They were usually items related to someone's class, or maybe a system menu.

As soon as the two strangers joined Hana's party, they felt a small boost to their stats. Since it was percentile based, it was hard to notice at lower levels. "Besides, these people seem to work here. I think." She leaned in closer to the two, half whispering, glancing at the seemingly unconcerned crowd milling about.

Leaning back, Hana seemed quite impressed with the little demonstration. "Oh, they do work! Well, we should get in there, then." She finally checked the party screen, smiling after noticing their levels. "Just let me know if you need help with anything!"

With Rose's warning in mind, she headed for the closest source of smoke. Some sort of Earth-chan themed pizza place. Carefully opening the door, she coughed at the burst of smoke that let free, although it calmed down soon after. She propped the door open before curiously poking inside.

Marisa seems happy enough with Rose's demonstration, as well as her cursory inspection of the buckets. She seems significantly less happy to actually handle it, her mood turning ever-so-slightly dour when she notices that, while she can carry the bottom of the bucket with ease with one hand, her other hand shakes lightly as it rests upon the handle. She remains quiet, staring at her hand, her expression darkening as the moment lasts for what seems like an uncomfortably long time, despite it just being a few seconds...
Before she turns around with a smile, now holding the bucket simply with the one hand by the handle, flashing a quick thumbs up before she puts her hand in her pocket and walks over to be in lockstep alongside her erstwhile party. "Alright, alright! I sure would love to figure out what's causing the fires, though. I can send these around a bit to look, so long as they don't get too far from me, and we might be able to better find the sources of some of these fires. Otherwise, by all means—lead the way."
She may have fallen into lockstep, but she is quietly going over some things in her mind, taking the measure of the young girl quietly as she follows along...

She blinks for a moment as she notices her nouliths have begun to move ever-so-slightly faster thanks to beign in the same party as Hana. Her eyebrows both raise as she notices their stats improve slightly, along with her own.
She takes a long, final drag of her cigarette before dropping the butt to the ground and stomping on it hard, shifting her foot to ensure the embers have died down, and as she lifts her foot, a noulith quickly flies by to spear it, pick it up, and drop the flattened cigarette butt into an ashtray about twenty feet away. It then unceremoniously returns to float in formation by her side as before.
"Seriously. We have fires to put out." How... agreeable, suddenly.
