These ones that let you stay in a Safe Zone were a good way to grab a few extra points while usually helping out some normal people, and not some crazy scientist that wanted you to fight a giant robot or whatever. This one seemed to be some sort of limited time only event, so she might as well take advantage of the opportunity while it was available. [break][break] Honestly, this one was for a good enough cause that she might have to make the trip to help out even after it was no longer an official mission. It made sense that there were more pets than masters at the moment, with plenty of animals left running free with their owners gone missing. Hana had always travelled too much to have pets, so she'd liked helping her friends out with theirs when she could. This was also a good excuse to explore a city she'd only briefly visited a few times. [break][break] The only problem at the moment was the dog to human ratio. [break][break] With at least two leashes in each hand, Hana was struggling to simply hold on and keep the dogs from dragging her out of the shelter before her assigned partner had arrived. The system menu only provided Summer's name and some other basic information, so she wasn't quite sure who to look for. The teen was wearing her usual dress and jacket combo at the moment, guitar and other equipment safely stashed in her inventory. Of course she got lost! It was just like her, she really needed to learn to read maps better! She wasn't too late thankfully but that was mostly due to recognising her mistake early and then sprinting the rest of the way to the meet up point with Hana, at least that was the name that the system gave her. She'd found that since all of the weirdness had started, her increasing Vitality had also given her more stamina, so as she rounded the corner, she wasn't even winded even after a fairly heavy sprint. Then she saw Hana and let out an internal groan, of course the girl she was working with was cute as hell, this would be a terrible first impression!

Summer for her part still had her bright pink hair, though it was pulled back into a ponytail today. Her glasses were in her pocket and she was wearing a t-shirt and shorts with her brand new puffer jacket over the top, the colours changed to blue today to match with her shorts and the stripey socks she was wearing. She ran up to Hana and gave her a bright smile and a wave. "Hey! I'm really sorry! My sense of direction is terrible and I got lost!" She reached out to take one of the dogs off of Hana and taking a step back, personal space was good, she didn't want to intrude.

"Oh uh... My name is Summer! Though you probably already knew that... I'm a Squire of Hearts! Though with all of the heart motifs all over my jacket maybe that was obvious too..." She puffed out her cheeks for a second before pulling up the menu and sending Hana a party invite just in case anything bad happened. "What about you? I know the system gave me your name and stuff but introductions are always nice!"

Hana had decided to compromise with the dogs, letting them drag her outside where at least they weren't blocking everyone's way. They were all trying to go a different direction, which at least meant they were mostly just spinning her in circles. On one revolution she saw the pink-haired girl rushing her way, and realized this might be her partner for the mission.

"Huh? Oh, it's fine! At least you, like, didn't run into any monsters or anything, right?" She happily relinquished one leash, shuffling the others around before attempting to hand the new arrival a second one. "Oh, I'm Hana. It's nice to meet you." She bowed to the taller girl, able to mostly hold still now that the dog distribution was a bit more even.

The second part of the introduction caught her off guard. "...oh, uh, that's the class it gave you? Mine's Star Belief." Hana still wasn't really sure what that meant, or how it applied to the abilities she'd been given. "I think the outfit suits you, Miss Summer. Did it give you pink hair too, or...?" She trailed off, curious.

They weren't going to be able to stand around and talk, though. The pups were persistently pulling the pair, urging them to get moving on their walk through the London streets.

With a smile, Summer took the second lead and then with a nod started to wander down the street so the dogs wouldn't get restless. "Well you certainly look like a star!" She gave Hana a playful wink before looking ahead to make sure they didn't run into anyone. "Oh and please just call me Summer or if you wanna give me a nickname you can, I don't mind! I used to dye my hair but ever since I got put here and got my class it doesn't seem like the dye is like... Fading and my roots aren't showing so I don't know, maybe the system just assumed this was my actual hair colour?" She gave a shrug.

Luckily looking at the maps let her know that there was a park somewhere nearby and she started to lead the dogs that way but she was happy to stop and let them sniff at things, using these as opportunities to crouch down and start giving them pets and cooing over them. "So what sorta stuff do you like doing, Hana? I know a lot of people have turned to like doing quests and hunting monsters and stuff but that can be pretty scary... I still like my art even if I occasionally have to go and save my pretend husband from some sorta giant monster." She grinned brightly and stood up as the dogs kept moving.

It was certainly a lovely day, a little on the cold side but the sun was out at least and the wind wasn't too rough. It was still strange to Summer seeing how quiet and empty the streets were these days, so many people just... Hadn't returned yet. Empty houses, empty shops, empty cafes, all staring out at the street. It was almost like something from the Twilight Zone or Silent Hill and she still hadn't gotten over the eeriness... However cute puppies definitely helped.

Hana was down to two small dogs for one arm and a single large dog for the other, now that Summer had grabbed another leash. She could handle this! "Um, thanks! I've had to reuse a lot of stuff from my last show..." It wasn't exactly easy to go shopping anymore, unless you wanted to buy armor or something.

"Sure Summer. And that sounds convenient, at least." It certainly seemed like something Earth-chan would do. "Oh, and my hair's naturally blonde. A lot of people thought I dyed it, but..." Hana let the pups she was handling drag her a bit closer to Summer. "It's just the same color as my mom's hair." Anyone that knew who her mom was realized that easily enough, but enough of her followers had no clue that she was asked about it fairly frequently.

Hana was happy enough to follow along towards the park, mostly busy taking in the scenery and watching the pups enjoy their time out and about. Any mission where they didn't have to worry about monsters randomly attacking was a nice change of pace for Hana as well. "Have you ever been to London before, Summer? I mean, before everything. I was too young to run around on my own last time I was here."

It was truly nice to see someone more down to earth these days, everything had gone so crazy and people were so intense now but it was probably needed to survive. Summer smiled as the other girl spoke and she stopped for a moment to let one of the dogs sniff around before moving on and heading closer to the park, she was pretty sure it was going to be empty, this was a safe zone after all so there wasn't really anything worthwhile there. "Yeah I've found that I need to reuse my outfits a lot, trying to find anything with decent fashion these days is ridiculous, I got super lucky with my jacket here but it was kind of a boss drop, not something I bought." She chuckled softly, a little embarrassed considering she had just been mentioning that so many people fought monsters.

"Oh and last show? Are you an actor or a musician or something?" She asked with genuine curiosity, she was really bad at keeping up with music trends and even worse since everything happened, so many new things had came out she struggled to even understand what genre they were let alone anything about their bands or the people behind them. Hopefully it wasn't a sore point or anything, she wasn't sure how concerts or plays or movies were going these days, probably not well.

Then there was the last question and Summer just gave a small shrug. "Nah never really been too interested in the UK until it was really easy to get here. I had a lot of other stuff to focus on, some bad times to deal with but I came through it with a smile and that's all that matters, yeah? What about the rest of the world, anywhere you've always wanted to visit? I know a lot of places are locked off but hey, they might open up for another period of time just like Paris!"

"If I ever got armor or clothing as a drop, it'd probably have Earth-chan's face all over it or something." Hana shuddered at the thought. "Huh? Oh, yeah. Well, I was trying to be." She smiled sheepishly. "Music was kinda my thing, before all of this. I haven't really had much time for it, with all the missions and monsters and everything." She was sure Summer knew how it was, so no need to get too deep into that.

"My dad had me in a few commercials, and a couple of episodes of TV shows, but nothing major. My channel was finally getting good views, back when that was a thing. I was opening for...someone, and made it through my set, but right as they were wrapping up the show everything went crazy." Hana squatted down for a few moments to pet one of the dogs, needing the slight distraction.

"...I've still got my guitar at least. Earth-chan did something to it to make it work without an amp. Gave me a microphone after that, too." She looked thoughtful. "...my tutorial involved writing a song, too...so I guess Earth-chan wants me to keep making music." Maybe that's actually why she hadn't really been in the mood to do so, now that she thought about it.

"Oh yeah, I should stop by Paris while it's safe." She nodded along to that suggestion. "I checked out all the Safe Zones and explored a few more places already. It's nice that LA is mostly in one piece, but we only rented a place there when we visited. Our house in Tokyo...and the studio..." Hana trailed off, walking silently for a bit, until they turned a corner and the park came into view. Then she yelped as the trio of pups she was wrangling excitedly dragged her forward.

Hearing about someone's success and life before it all changed was interesting if a little melancholy, though Summer knew well it was better to focus on the good. She kept a gentle smile on her face as Hana spoke and nodded along to what she was saying. She could tell there was something up with Earth-Chan there and other than a couple of strange world messages, Summer actually hadn't had much contact with the strange entity that seemed to be a source of a lot of what had happened or was at least an Avatar for the changes that had overcome the world.[break][break]
"That sounds really cool to be honest, I'm really sorry that all of this happened right when things were getting good for you. Though I'd say to hold onto those memories, because if you done it once you can definitely do it again! It might be a little harder now but you're also a little bit stronger and probably a lot stronger than you actually think you are." She grinned and took a moment to pet the dogs she was walking as well, it was hard to keep walking when there were cute puppies nearby to be entirely honest. "Are you not a fan of Earth-Chan then? Or just a little sick of them?"[break][break]
When they turned the corner and Hana got pulled, Summer reached out and grabbed a couple of the leads to halt the pull and stop Hana from getting dragged away. It was still strange these days just how much sturdier her body felt, it wasn't like she'd been working out or anything, she was just... Harder to move, harder to hurt. "Paris is lovely, though it isn't entirely safe to be honest, some monsters are still lurking around so you need to be on your toes." Once the dogs had calmed down a bit, Summer let go to continue the walk. "I hope Italy opens up at some point, I'd love to visit there, never managed to get there before... All of this happened..." She pursed her lips for a moment and shook her head, dislodging the little shards of sadness that were trying to take root.[break][break]
With that they had reached the park and Summer moved through a fenced off section with a gate, waiting until Hana was through to close it. She then reached down and unclipped the leads from the dogs she had been walking. Summer then dug around in her pocket and pulled out a ball. "Made sure to pick up one when I learned what the mission was, you can take first shot." She said with a flash of a grin and tossed it underhand to Hana.[break][break]

"Oof, thanks." Hana smiled as Summer helped slow the pups down for a moment, before they released them to run wild in the enclosed area. She looked appreciative about the assistance, and the comforting words. "It's not like we can go back to the way things were. We just gotta, like, try to move forward. We can't give up on living just because life is different now." She knew her parents would want her to do her best.

"Well, um...Earth-chan sees everything we do. And I'm pretty sure it reads our minds, too." She gestured in front of her, as a system menu opened and closed. "It's just another thing we can't change. If not liking Earth-chan was, like, illegal or something, I guess I'd be in trouble. But it doesn't seem to care, as long as we keep playing along."

Hana almost fumbled the ball before catching it, as several of the dogs hopped up against her, trying to grab at it. She held it up high for them all to see, before pitching it as far as she could. Which...was much further than she had expected. "Uh, whoops. I sometimes forget my own strength now." She gave Summer a sheepish grin. The teen wasn't really super strong, but raising her PWR and SPD did seem to translate into throwing things really, really well.

The dogs were happy to dash across most of the park to retrieve it, now distracted by playfully fighting over which would get to carry it back, dropping and passing it between them frequently. "I'll have to be careful if I do check out Paris, then. There might be weirdoes or something..."

The idea of constantly being watched was worrying and unfortunately it was probably true. Summer pursed her lips and leaned back slightly, lifting her hands to place them on the back of her head, interlacing her fingers. She let out a quiet hum for a moment before shrugging. "Kinda creepy to watch us all the time but you're right, gotta just keep going no matter what. Just need to do our best and try and make our lives as enjoyable as ever. If that means you need to do something in spite of even Earth-Chan then so be it, yeah?" She laughed quietly and then crouched as the dogs approached.

She made sure to give a round of pets and ear scratches before picking up the ball herself and hopping back to her feet. She took a breath and then launched it forwards, the dogs happily tearing away in pursuit of it. "I know how you feel with the stats, I fell down a set of stairs a few days ago and just... Bounced up completely unharmed afterwards, it's really weird. I've always been clumsy so I'm kinda used to it but now I'm clumsy without any of the side effects!" It was still weird looking at her little first aid kit and realising for the first time in years that it had been gathering dust instead of constantly getting used. In fact, she was pretty sure she hadn't even had a cold in some time.

"Unfortunately there are weirdos everywhere still, sometimes they're even worse than the monsters. Now though there's not much stopping us from dealing with them." She flexed one arm for a moment before sticking her tongue out at Hana. "If you need any help with anything though or just want someone to watch your back, I can give you my number and whatnot and you can send me a message whenever you need anything or if you just want to talk, yeah?"

Hana smiled, though, as Summer bragged and flexed for a moment. "Before all this I could've never hopped over to London just to walk some dogs, though." She nodded at the suggestion. "That sounds great! Maybe we can do some more missions?" The teen used a brief respite between ball tosses to send a formal friend request, adding Summer to the list alongside several other names.

After a few more rounds, though, the pups were beginning to look a little worn out. Although that result was part of the job description, they still had to get them back home. "Alright, looks like we need to start heading back. Or we'll wind up carrying...uh..." Hana had to squat down to scoop up a smaller, younger pup that was nodding off by her feet.

There was a bright grin on Summer's face as she leaned down to reattach various leads to the dogs. There was another that was very sleepy and with a slight wave of her hand, Summer brought forth her buckler, glowing pink in the light. She flipped up so that it sat like a bowl, floating just off her side and lifted the sleepy puppy up and resting them on the buckler. It almost made the dog look like a little alien in a flying saucer. She grinned and turned back to Hana with a nod as she picked up the leads and started to guide the dogs towards the exit to the park.

"Aye, this new world definitely has some good points to it, sometimes it's hard to see that under all the murk and monsters but if this is what we're stuck with then we just need to make the most of it!" She accepted the friend request as they walked back to where they had to hand the dogs back. "I'm always happy to help people, especially if they're cool like you are, so don't hesitate if you need anything alright? Oh and if you're ever bored, you can come visit me and my Not-Husband and I can cook you dinner!" She gave a wink and a grin.[break][break]
It was nice to just have a good day out, no monsters, nothing scary, no getting hurt. Just playing with some dogs and running around a park. Summer was an only child but she thought this might be what it felt like to have a younger sister and that wasn't so bad. Handing the dogs back would be easy enough and after that, unless she had something important to say, Summer would head off and home with a wave and a check of her maps so that she didn't get bloody lost... Again.
