Valentine stepped through the waygate with his brother, they had arrived at the Big Apple! Though they had lived in the US years ago with his family Valentine could scarcely ever remember coming to New York except for when they had to go past it to get to Maine. He didn't really know much about the area just that its population was dense, its subways vast, and its streets dirty. Oh, and the tall buildings. [break][break]
Even so, he figured this would be on a bucket list for his sister, if she thought the world was perhaps ending then maybe, just maybe she would be somewhere here, especially considering he had yet to find any serious leads in Korea. Valentine looked around the outskirts of the waygate, he didn't see anyone so the first thing to do was to move for cover. The streets around the waygate were littered with cars so it was easy to duck down behind one, "Wait here, protect my body and stay down, these cars make good cover," he said as he closed his eyes and let his astral body ascend from his physical body. [break][break]
Searching around via astral projection was his bread and butter for his class skills that he had, and as such he made sure to use it as much as possible, and with every use, he found that his control over the skill continued to increase, whereas before he could barely go more than 10 miles from his body, he was now able to go 20 miles from his body before feeling like his connection to his physical body was starting to get lost. It was trying but he was getting there, it was like working a muscle. The more he used it the more proficient he got. [break][break]
Keeping their bodies near the waygate was the best possible option, as far as Valentine knew most people waited for those near the waygate in buildings to ambush them, and monsters were often in bigger droves the more one moved from the waygate. Knowing this Valentine could scout easier knowing that the least likely place to get attacked would be here. Though what he loved about his astral projection was that it was unhindered by his human speed, nor could walls, obstacles, or anything of the sort stop him, at least so far from what he knew of, besides those damn barriers around the cities. [break][break]
Thus, moving upward, Valentine used his bird's eye view to scout around them, going in a circular pattern, moving further out, and then downward, before gradually moving in. The whole ordeal took about an hour, of which he knew poor St. Claire was probably bored out of his mind, but after he was done he had successfully scoped out the next 5 blocks in all directions. Not to mention from her own because he could choose a direction scouting would be much easier and shorter. He willed his astral back into his physical, and after it dove back in, his eyes fluttered open. [break][break]
He stretched as he sat upward grasping his knee slightly. "Ouch, I was in that position for way too long," he said, moving his neck around to crack it as it had simply been hanging down the entire time. Damn was he sore, but it was worth it. As he stated "we're going to move west from her, into the old Macy's building on the right. There's no one in there, but thankfully most of the clothes and such have been left, I'm also pretty sure I saw a normal-looking undead in the middle of the women's section on the second floor." He said to his brother as he ducked down, grasping his cramped neck, keeping out of view using the cars as cover as he made his way over toward the Macy's entrance. [break][break]

The big apple. This was not the way Saint envisioned visiting New York City, but here he was. After Uni Saint did have ideas of moving out here, with the thoughts of the super fast life style would fit him. Maybe he could also stay out of trouble, but he doubted it. He could have made allot of money out here in New York though. Some times he convinced himself that New York was his future hime. But who knows now, he looked around at the barren city. This wasn't the NY that he envisioned not to long ago, they still had their famous skyscrapers though. Some of them torn down, and others so long that could literally reach the stars. This was the earth they lived in now, Saint let out air from his nose. His hands in his pockets as he looked around just a bit.
They came here with a purpose to find their little sister, to get some clues of here whereabouts even. Neither of them believed that she didn't make it, they refused to unless it was proven. Their sister was to smart for that. She was out there somewhere, making her way and they were going to find her. They stayed close enough to the waygate, Valentine had already gone off in his astral projection form to look ahead for anything. Saint was more than used to it, by this point. The use of abilities, powers, skills even weapons were commonplace at this point. It ensured survival. The only annoying thing was when Val used his powers, he had to be the babysitter for his body. He didn't mind it really, but it did keep him from going to far away.
Looking around Saint noticing all the cars around, cars that probably all used to be own by people. A small smile appeared on his face he wondered if the cars around were still functioning. He had thoughts of trying to hotwire it, but decided not to. Instead he leaned against the side of the car waiting for his brother to come back.
Eventually he did. "Jeez took you long enough." Saint said to him Val stated they're going to head into the Macy's no one was in there. "Really? I thought there would be a whole bunch of people in there." Saint asked thinking there had to be people in the large shopping store. But if his brother said there wasn't he believed him. He started following him into the Macy's

Valentine smiled at Saint Claire's words chuckling a bit to himself as he continued ducking behind the cars that littered the roads of Herald Square. "Hey, it's not like I wanted to be scouting for that long, but this place is huge, I barely scratched the surface so I just started searching through nearby buildings. Started and ended with that Macy's and in case you haven't noticed the place is damn huge. On the plus side, all the new clothes for this season are out, so I'm sure we can grab a nice array of extra clothing." Valentine said, his love of fashion bubbling to the surface for a brief movement as he moved along the cars using them to hide his visage as he did.[break][break]
Eventually, they'd make their way toward the entrance, Valentine found himself trying to pry the door open, "yeah, my guess is there was, but then the tutorial and monsters happened, probably made for too big of a target area, especially with people running for food, and to check on their loved ones. It also doesn't surprise me considering that waygate is over there, everyone probably escaped into the hub as soon as they could," Valentine said grunting as he pushed tried to push the formally electronic doors open, "help me with this," he said grunting once more pushing for all he could muster. [break][break]
After the door was pried open, Valentine would then shut it, before moving inside, he glanced around smiling ear to ear, after they defeated that damn zombie that was milling about he was going to do some shopping with his handy dandy five-finger discount. [break][break]
Walking toward the escalator Valentine began to walk up, looking to St. Claire only to say, "let's go kill that zombie so we can shop in peace."[break][break]

Saint grinned at his brother. "New clothes ain't a bad idea at all, now that you mention it." Saint rubbed his chin thinking about adding new clothes to his closet. Both him and brother liked to dress well, if anything he picked it up from Val. What did excite him was the fact that they didn't need to pay at all. Was this theft though? Was someone really expecting them to pay for something in the state the world is in now. After helping his big brother with the door, Saint would wrap his arm around him. "So you know this technically means we're stealing together." he said jokingly.
Saint was pretty sure Val didn't steal one thing in his life, he probably did but in comparison to Saint Val was definitely the good one. Not that Saint was a bad person, he was actually rather kind and understanding most times. But he did have a extensive history of theft, there was just a rush of excitement that he couldn't explain about it. On top of that Saint could be pretty greedy if he really got his hands on something that he liked. "Aaahhh the Aito brothers stealing together, who would've thought. I'll tell ya who. Me! I knew my big brother would come around one day and join me in my endeavors." Saint said he was just joking like he normally would.
Heading to the escalator to take care of the zombie that was up on the second floor. Saint was stretching his arms and then his neck. "Yes. Lets take care of the zombie so we can steal in peace." he said with a grin. Getting to the second floor just like his brother said there was one zombie, but it was large and rather muscular one. With a long chain in it's hands, swinging it around. That same chill came down his back, and his talisman appeared by his side. The zombie didn't back away despite being in Saint's presence. "It's a strong one." Saint said confirming his thoughts.
Saint started to run the zombie's left side, drawing it's attention. It swung its chain towards him, but Saint ducked and rolled out the way. Regaining is balance he gestured towards the zombie having his talisman fire off it's projectile blasting the zombie right in the face. Giving a good opening from his brother.

"Exactly, a new season is about to start after all, and by the looks of it the fall collection is already in!" Valentine said with glee, his love of fashion bubbling to the surface. He had always enjoyed when clothing stores brought the new season of outfits in, not to mention all the nice summer clothes that were left over on discount. Granted he wouldn't have to pay for any of these fancy new dudes, and he had already made the mental note to stock his inventory full of clothes, even some that weren't his size. After all, you never know how the body would change or who you could run across in dire need of a wardrobe change, hell just being near Sami had told him that. [break][break]
"Is it really stealing if no one owns it? The CEO is probably dead or something, and if he isn't I doubt he's worried about a single store when most of them are probably gone, burned down, or destroyed." Valentine said with a greedy smile and shrug of his shoulders. "Besides, the dollar bill is a thing of the past, for the time being, at least the old method anyway," Valentine said, after all, the old method of currency was most likely something that wouldn't go that far in a new world, and if it did, right now people had more pressing concerns on their minds. [break][break]
"If it makes you happier though, technically~ Yes," He said with a snicker. Valentine had no qualms about taking any of the clothes in here, he had never stolen anything, but this was a new day, a new age, and he was going to have to get used to doing a lot of things he hadn't done in his old life, like fighting monsters. [break][break]
Valentine snickered at Saint Claire's words, he sighed, "Oh, how far we've fallen~" he said jokingly, he enjoyed the bit of jesting with his brother more than he had let on, the conversation with Saint Claire was always a welcome change to the shit of the world around them. It was times like this that the world didn't seem so bad, granted that was from the safety of a store where one of the things he liked was readily available. [break][break]
Valentine nodded to Saint as he spoke and stretched, "the sooner we get rid of it, the faster we can put it in a garbage can or something to keep it from stinking up the place. I'm thinking we can make this place our base of operations for a while, once we find the manager's office anyway, it would give us access to an isolated area, and if we learn the layout of this place better it could become a good temporary base." Valentine said, already plotting out how they could use the space.[break][break]
Valentine noticed the zombie was swinging around a big chain, he didn't want to get within reach of that so he ran toward the back of the zombie, from behind it was less likely to hit him, especially as Clairey had drawn its attention, St. Claire ducked and rolled out of the way firing a blast from his talisman at the zombie. This gave Valentine the opening he needed to run at the zombie's back, drop-kicking it toward his brother as it fell forward, its body lost balance. A downed opponent was much easier to take care of than one still standing. Valentine quickly rolled back into a standing position he crouched down in case he had to dive out of the way of an attack on the off chance the zombie could recover faster than initially expected.[break][break]
At this point with what they had gone through with their tutorial, Valentine was so used to the sight of a zombie it barely faced him, though perhaps that was due to how high his wit stat had been raising over the past couple of days.[break][break]

His brother used that opening to land a drop kick on it's back pushing it forward towards Saint. Who was already in a prime position to land another attack, he could blasted it again with is talisman. But he preferred to use his fists, he dashed in and landed a strong blow to it's ribcage with is left. Then another with his right hand, his combo didn't stop there. He seamlessly landed a low kick to it's leg, and used the same leg landing another kick to it's stomach and used the same leg again landing the last blow to it's skull knocking it off completely. It was a rather quick series of kicks that he practiced since he was young. A soft grin on his face that he landed it here against a mad zombie.
Saint watched the head of the creature roll away. "Is it crazy that we're actually getting used to this now?" he asked his big brother, it was asked in jest but it was something worth noting. Fighting zombies, machines and other monsters was now nearly becoming common practice. Like he thought during their initial tutorial run, this would actually be allot more fun of the world wasn't in total shambles.
"A base of operations." Saint said out loud processing his brother's words. It wasn't a bad idea at all. It was just funny to him that Val thought about it being in a Macy's. "Haha. Of course our base of operations would be in a Macy's where all the designer stuff is." he joked. "But your right this would serve nicely as a temporary base for us." Saint agreed. "But do you think it's worth teaming with other people?" Saint asked him now thinking about it some more. Other people were bound to start teaming up and forming groups, they would probably have to do the same thing eventually.

Pulling his legs upward to his chest, and pushing off the ground with his arms after landing, Valentine rolled back up to a crouching position after drop-kicking the zombie, he saw a flash of white light, no doubt having come from Saint Claire's talisman. Then he watched as his brother dashed in landing a strong blow to the undead, after which he delivered a combo of kicks that ultimately resulted in launching the creature's head from its shoulders. [break][break]
With the fight over as quickly as it began, Valentine walked over toward something clothing, a drab dress that was clearly out of season with its thick fabric, and worst of all it had horizontal stripes and was black and white, what person would want to walk around looking like the Hamburgler? Valentine thought this hideous garment would be perfect for clean up and disposal. He wrapped the garment over his hands, grasped the back of the zombie's head with it, and then wrapped it up. Next, he grabbed more of the garments as he spoke to Saint Claire, returning his words with a smile and comment of his own, "oh hell yeah. Absolutely, but that's life now I guess, humans adapt, evolve, and overcome, that's our primary strength after all. Besides after the tutorial we went through I doubt much would scare us anymore," Valentine said, though he knew that wasn't entirely true. [break][break]
Perhaps it was because his WIT stat had increased so much, or perhaps it was simply just because he was logical, but he knew that it was only a matter of time before they ran across a creature so powerful it invoked fear within everyone around them. Valentine nodded to Saint Claire as his brother processed his words, "just because it's a base doesn't mean it can't be fun, besides all of the stuff in here lets us have a bit of cover, gives us enough clothes for any situation, and climate, and its big enough to allow us to escape if any crazy shit happens, not to mention all the single entry point with all the other exits only being able to be opened from the inside." Valentine said as he turned away from his brother's gaze. Though they both knew the primary truth that he choose here was simply because of all the clothes, everything else he said did hold merit. He could be vane, yes, but he didn't do such at the expense of his brothers and his safety. [break][break]
Valentine shrugged at Saint Claire's question, "Honestly, bro. I'm not sure, it all depends on the person, there's power in numbers, but only if those numbers can be counted on," he said chuckling slightly at the inadvertent pun that escaped his lips. He began wrapping the body in the same garments as he did the head, making sure to keep them separate so no funny business could happen. "Alright, help me with this body, we can move it to the side and then throw it out later before it starts to stink up the place." [break][break]

His brother made allot of sense about humans adapting and evolving. This was just the way life was now, the fact that he was getting used to it was probably for the better. It was just all happening so fast. "Yeah. Yeah. You're right. What's got me thinking is, if that was the tutorial whats going to happen next? These things and other threats are going to get stronger for sure."
Speaking out loud like this helped with getting used to this new reality. Monsters were going to get stronger, and more powerful. What they were seeing right now was just the beginning of it all. It made even more sense that they joined up with others, and worked together. They also had to get stronger, increase their stats and their abilities. Possibly more as well. Valentine went on to explain his thought process on why this giant Macy's would serve as a pretty good base for now. Saint couldn't help but grin, it made sense he couldn't deny it. But the truth of the matter was, there was all sorts of clothing and things here that they would have access too. "Yes yes. Very good for hideouts and the such. I hear ya."
As they spoke about joining a potential group of people, Val made some valid points. It didn't mean nothing of they couldn't count on others. Saint would make a mental note of this for any future encounters. He was already pretty skeptical of people, in this word he had to be even more so. Saint went and grabbed some random clothes to wrap around his hands, and help his brother with the body. "I wonder if the vending machines here still have snacks in them." he said randomly

Valentine paused to think about what St. Claire had mentioned, what was going to happen next. If that was the tutorial does that mean the game had truly begun? Or were these just the first few levels? The beginning stages? Valentine didn't know how bad it would get, but if the tutorial was any indicator he could imagine shit would hit the fan fairly quickly. The truth of the matter was, was the time they spent looking for their sister, was something they'd be able to do in small bursts. Searching here and there, but they'd have to level up while doing so. If they were to abandon everything else and make only looking for her their main concern they would be dead before the day's end. They had to do things smartly, and they had to progress.[break][break]
"Honestly, I'm not sure what's going to happen next, but I doubt it'll be something good. We'll have to make sure we're prepared and can handle it when that time comes. Valentine could easily maneuver around everything, not even the slightest brush against a pair of clothes as he moved. Valentine's eyes glanced across each garment that they passed. Valentine spoke up and answered Saint Claire's question. "When I scoped the place out they had some in the employee area, they look untouched," Valentine said with a smile, there were three he had seen, one with drinks, another with candy and pastry snacks, and one with chips. Valentine would move toward the largest trash can he could find, removing the lid it thankfully seemed like it had been cleared out, thankfully the employees that were working here kept the area pretty clean, sans a few coffee cups. Valentine lowered the head into a small trash can, before moving toward a window. He lifted his portion of the body out the window. [break][break]

"Trust. I don't plan on becoming stagnant at all." Saint answered his brother with a serious but also cocky smile on his face. Saint was usually a determined young man when he set his mind on something, and now with the situation that they are in now. With their lives on the line, it would be easy for him to find ways to motivate himself into doing what needed to be done. He was going to get stronger, faster, and better. Increase his stats, and abilities in this world only the strong and capable survived. He planned to be one of them, he planned to do more than just survive too.
Following his brother and getting rid of the body. The exorcist looked around. "So this is home for now huh."
He started looking around at the clothes that he saw, and started to grab random pieces that he liked and tossing them into his inventory for later.

Valentine smiled and nodded to Saint Claire, he knew his brother would try his best and that was all he could ask for, but he was happy to hear the words nonetheless. Valentine wasn't sure where the road would lead to here, which path to take, or even what to do next, he was simply going with the wind, playing everything by ear and hoping for the best outcome available. On the plus side Valentine knew that when it to undead they were pretty much golden and shouldn't have any problems with any creatures of the sort, that is unless it was overwhelmingly powerful. However, he knew that he would try his best to scope out such enemies beforehand.[break][break]
Valentine chuckled at St. Claire taking some clothes and throwing them into his inventory, especially because it made it easier for him to move over toward the nearest clothing wrack to grab an overly expensive purple short sleeve shirt. He already knew exactly what pair of jeans he'd pair it with, as well as the shoes, accessories, and jacket to match. "Yeah, just for a little while though, we shouldn't be here more than a few days. We don't need to be complacent, and we don't know what's roaming around or what will see us roaming around," he said with a shrug, glancing down the clothing aisle toward the back area where a sign could be seen that read "employees only," Valentine moved there complacent for the time being as he grabbed garment after garment along the way. Upon moving down the aisle and toward the employees-only section Valentine would promptly push open the door and make a left. Thanks to his scouting he knew exactly where he was going, down the hall they'd see a bathroom, some bending machines that he probably smashed open with an elbow wrapped in cloth, and grabbed the food and drinks from inside. Then once he made it into the manager's office, he plopped down in one of the rolling chairs. Sighing as he did, "it feels nice to sit after all that running around," Valentine said with a smile, grabbing a bag of chips from his inventory before promptly opening the bag and munching on them. "It's been a while since we had American food," he said with a chuckle if one could consider the brand that. [break][break]
"So I'm thinking that we hit Broadway Theater next to see if we can find anything or anyone that could give us any clues as to where Aurore might be, what do you think?" Valentine said, looking up at his brother awaiting his reply. [break][break]
