[ Mission Start: What's Best Left Unpaid 1/5 ] Lafey had grown curious about what her class could do, specifically that part about creating items that were said to possess the tag [Black Market]. Although she wanted to jump into the highest rank mission she could and see just how dangerous she could make this, some part of Lafey knew that it was beyond foolish to just throw herself willing into a suicidal mission. Best to test out her hypothesis for now, and slowly edge her way forward once she had conclusions to draw from. Luckily, there was just the mission she had wanted to see up for grabs. Helping the E2C was likely a forgone effect at this point, but it was a way to get a quick mission done and to test her theory. "So many people to extort, so little daylight to burn." Lafey said while taking the first steps out of her home in Unison Central. Sparse people walked through the streets here, so seeing a woman of her caliber among the dredges of the commonfolk should have been quite the sight to see. The woman threw on her robes and twirling the blackjack in her hand as she began the walk down the street with eyes full of malice and greed. "Let's see who's first up on our shopping list..."

[ Mission Start: What's Best Left Unpaid 2/5 ] ”First up, Layland Scotts. Apartment Sector, Building 3, Room 108.” Lafey read from her phone's screen while walking in the direction of this man. Thankfully an arrow was present to help guide her to the apartment in question. Unison Central wasn't entirely an inescapable maze, but it did feel like it at times. She walked down the southernmost street and took a right by the center of town. It split ways but after a brisk five minute walk, took her before the rows of housing developments. Nothing too fancy but she wouldn't be caught dead in such an abode. The creaky floors and run down nature of the building suggested that perhaps this wasn't the most financially secure part of town. But it mattered little. Money was money at the end of the day. Lafey casually stroke down the hallway while her weapon traced along the walls here. The tip of her baton didn't leave any noticeable marks, but jt certainly helped for the intimidation factor. Once present in front of the room, Lafey knocked on the door, three times in succession. ”Scotts, I'm here on E2C business, where's the money?” Lafey asked and no answer came. She waited for a few more seconds, then knocked again, harder this time. Still no answer. One aggravated groan later and this time, she didn't hold back, slamming the back of her fist down on the door as the impact echoed down the hallway. ”Open the fucking door before I break it down.” It was her one and only warning. Lafey took her time with preparing, even matching the gaze of an angry looking man who opened the front door to see what lied outside. She was already an angry looking woman, so much as somebody impeding her progress just made her all the more furious. She raised a knee and the air and brought it against the door, then again, and then again. It had been about five times until the doorway shattered, allowing Lafey into the apartment. It looked about as nice as it smelled. Her gait into the living room was hurried and held her weapon at the ready. For every room Scotts wasn't in, another hole “mysteriously” ended up in his wall. This continued up until she found him cowering in the bedroom side bathroom. His terrified expression, while pathetic, made him an easy mark. ”Hello, Scotts. Let's have a little chat, shall we?”Lafey stepped out of the broken down door, counting her meager earnings with a dissatisfied grimace. ”You're lucky I'm in a hurry today. Next time, I expect all of it in one swoop. And answer the door. It's unbecoming to keep a lady waiting at the door.”Lafey's feels cracked against the floor as she made her way out if the apartment and pocketing the money she had “collected” from the man.

[ Mission Start: What's Best Left Unpaid 3/5 ] The first stop was down and it was a start. Definitely not enough money to call it a day just yet. Fortunately for this lovely black market dealer, there were always more fish in the sea to shake down for everything they had. The next target was fairly similar. A debtor who owed E2C money before it's dissolution. Which meant that they were as good as hers, but more importantly, one step closer to testing out that loot box synergy with her class. Her phone flicked open and spun around to show another person currently in debt. "Terrance Young, Central Hub." Lafey memorized to herself. The location wasn't too far where she had come from, maybe a five minute walk. It was as easy as retracing her steps and searching for a raggy looking man currently performing for a minuscule crowd. Lafey double checked the information on her phone and walked up as normal. Any sign of a well dressed woman was the perfect indication of easy money. He greeted her and gave the same sympathetic routine while she listened. "A very sad story, Terrance. But I'm here on behalf of the E2C, now under my management. Time to pay up."Of course, he didn't take too kindly to this. But he actually got up and started to sprint away at record speeds. She groaned and took off her heels, then gave chase. She wasn't too quick and nimble, but Lafey was in shape enough that she knew she could outlast this little annoyance. She kept up behind him, stocking clad feet racing across the concrete while trailing behind Terrance. It was a lengthy two minute sprint, but eventually he fell to the ground where she awaited him. "Why do you always run every time?" Lafey asked in between gasps of air, digging in his pockets and pulling out his wallet. After helping herself to some extra dough, she tossed it back and tried to catch her breath. One kick to the side of his head for good measure, and she was off. "I'll send you the bill later."

[ Mission Start: What's Best Left Unpaid 4/5 ] "Alright, next up is Veronica Lassiter. Quite the bill on her tab." Her eyes lit up at the amount that she had been overdue with. Definitely something that "Let's go see what she's been up to."Lafey walked along the concrete pathway just like any other day. For such a simple task, she was certainly getting her steps in. She took a quick break to sip down a black coffee on the way to her destination. Veronica's location in the phone app showed that she was in the business sector of Unison Central. It was a fancy and better name than "a bunch of dilapidated buildings that was once a finance business." Whatever it was, Lafey couldn't really care much, as they didn't truly matter in the long term of things. As long as Veronica was there, she had her reasons for going. She stepped foot inside one of the towering buildings while on the hunt for her little payment princess here. Her location danced all around the area, up one floor, down another, dancing all around. Lafey couldn't get into any kind of read on where she was going to. Another turn down the hallway where she should have been and then...nothing. It was getting aggravating to keep playing this cat and mouse game. So Lafey decided to draw her out the old fashioned way. She calmly came to the lobby of the 12th floor and set her phone down and walked around the corner, awaiting her prey. Her hand fell over her weapon while Lafey awaited the other woman to show herself. It wasn't a short wait, as after a few minutes, she heard the sound of somebody above her making their way to the lobby just as she was beginning to wonder about if Earth-chan could do delivery services for a cigarette. A woman wielding a spear came out of the ceiling and went down to stab the woman whom she thought was below. She descended to the floor while Lafey ran forward with a swing of her baton. Veronica was smacked into the opposing hallway, catching her breath before launching into another scrap. She aimed to skewer Lafey through the side as she sidestepped the attack and and gave another swing of her mace at her target. Veronica slapped the weapon away with her arm with a pained grunt, while trying to shake Lafey off of the spear. Now disarmed, Lafey returned the favor to Veronica by throwing her spear away as well. Both women glared at one another, and the fists began to fly! Five minutes later, Lafey stood over the beaten body of Veronica, with the money she had valued. One spit of blood from the mouther, she smirked at her opponent. "I do love a good fight. I'll keep you in mind if you want a rematch." She smiled, fetched her weapon from the hall and limped back into the elevator with several new bruises. Once the doors closed, Lafey felt her body just collapse to the ground on the slow ride down back to the ground floor.

[ Mission Start: What's Best Left Unpaid 5/5 ] She woke up a minute after she reached the ground floor, maybe ten hours later. The woman opened her eyes with a slow start and moved up while checking her phone again for the last person on her list. Her tongue lapped across her front teeth, savoring the test of blood present as she wiped her nose against the back of her hand. A professional didn't leave work unfinished while on the job, and Lafey was a tried and true professional in every regard. Just one more person to shakedown. "This item better be worth the trouble." Lafey growled to herself and flicked upwards to see another man on the phone screen. "Thomas Avery...Close by. Central Hub." She slowly walked back the way she came back to the starting point of the mission. How very tried and true that the end of her little adventure would turn out to be the very same place where it began. No wonder Earth-chan had such a sick sense of humor about these things, it must have been fate. Or the most ironic place for a debtor to run too. Whatever the case may be, she used her weapon for balance and limped her way back home. Once present, she followed the arrow back into the center of Unison Central. Her target was some boy in his early twenty at latest. She frowned at the arrogance of this kid. He was one of "those" types. A pretty boy who had everything gifted to him and by some stroke of luck, was one of the few people in the world to be stuck here. He was currently chatting with another girl in the usual fashion most men did when flirting. Loves of brags, not enough self confidence. Which meant it was easy to walk up to him, covered in the fresh wounds of her previous fight, and politely "ask" for his generous contribution. This came in the form of Lafey standing before a trembling, cowardly boy once he saw he was outclassed and with somebody in front of him that had little time for games. "You took a loan out months ago for E2C. I'm collecting. Don't make this hard."Thankfully, he was so scared shitless he emptied out the contents of his wallet into Lafey's inventory as she nodded and groaned with discomfort. "Thanks. Here." She slowly put a couple of points back, enough to get him a nice small beverage. Meager pity bucks, but it was better than nothing. "Get you and your date something nice." Without a second word, she turned on a heel and marched straight back home. She needed whine, chocolate and a good book to read during the recovery period. Maybe even see about doing some research about Veronica.
