Deep in focus, Ume had been sitting in silence for a few seconds. Her breath at an even pace, she had been anticipating something; a slew of jeers, taunting. A cold tremble had overtaken her, only for there to be nothing. Firmly between her fingers was her remaining hisha piece. No matter how much she planned to counter Oda’s early aggression, she still managed to be on the backfoot. Her next move was being carefully considered; a trap was clearly laid out before her, and Oda’s machinations were starting to unfurl before her.

Opening her eyes, she swung her piece down onto the table before her, only to be met with the unusual sting of ceramic on metal. There was no shogi board, there was no chai, there was no Oda. Standing up--in palpable shock--she looked around, her heart suffering a rush of palpation. Directly ahead of her was an obscuring blue screen--the source of the ping that had disturbed her thought, no doubt. Feeling her knees buckle under her own now immense weight, she flopped down to the ground.

As intrusive as this interface was, Umeko was left with no other choice than to engage with it. She wasn't confident in her ability to traverse these busy streets with parts of her vision blocked by Earth-Chan's torment. Selecting her class, and coming to grips with a largely insignificant portion of just what was going on, she wandered out of café in a haze, bouncing between disbelief and confusion. Upon gracing the streets she realized that a lot a changed, but Los Angeles--at least to her--was still intact if only a bit stranger

Once more, Earth-Chan had chimed in. A list of names had been given, and the people to which those names were attached were instructed to head over to the former Dodger Stadium. So far, Ume had been forced to take in a lot, and with the introduction of some far off area, more had been thrust upon her shoulders. Alone, on what amounted to the other side of the world, in a situation she was failing to comprehend, she broke, "Dod...ger...sta...di...um?" Ume had repeated, trying to wrap her head around the words at the structural level.

She was lost without her interpreter, who vanished alongside everyone else within that café. Desperately she tried her phone, a phone which was no longer any with urban wayfinding. Completely out of her depth, she tried to orient herself. Her first day in Los Angeles had been spent between her hotel, and a scouting a few locations; her knowledge of the city was entirely dismal. Thankfully, she hadn't been alone there was an entire city worth of people, "Hello? Can you help me find... Dodger Stadium?" She asked the very first person she crossed.
