One had to wonder why she would agree to pursue sheep while her patience ran so thin and her contempt for creatures only widened. Yet there she was in a tree, hanging from her passenger side door , fighting the swaying branches in an attempt to retrieve a horror struck ewe without touching it. Furiously she motioned towards the door, yanking the air before her towards her chest in a pointless display to get the attention of a animal that already making wide-eyed contact. Getting nowhere, she pivoted her method, “Stay your nerves, before you fall to your death.” She scolded; making no tangible effort to calm the skittish animal. With no change and desperation mounting, she finally tried to appeal to the beast, “Come here sheepie...” Her voice strained under the immense physical discomfort of having to speak like that. [break][break] In a desperate attempt to save itself, it kept shifting its shaky legs along the thinning branch, getting further and further away from Ingrid. Sinking downwards, the sheep had gotten the better of her from two different axes. Even over the curses she held under her breath, Ingrid could hear the light splintering of the branches. Returning to the wheel, she grit her teeth. Petal to the metal, and gear shifted, she recklessly shot down the screwing road. Her scheme hinged her slamming the sturdy passenger door into the branch, and the sheep making it into the moving opened door unscathed enough to survive the rest of the trip. [break][break] It worked. Dejected, and teary eyed, Ingrid had to pluck loose wool from her mouth, but she had successfully captured one sheep. [break][break]

One sheep had proven to be far too much. Every ‘bah’ dug its way under Ingrid’s skin as the two drove along the steep cliff sides. She kept requesting that the sheep cease its whining, which it responded with louder and more distressed ‘bahs’. Rain had picked up, and by chance she had come across another. Pure chance, its wet wool had been trapped in a thorny, leafless bush. Coming to a deadstop, Ingrid shoved her parasol from the passenger door and carelessly yanked the poor creature (bush attached) into the car.

Later that evening, she followed a trail of wool towards a hole-in-the-wall. Fanning away plumes of smoke, she drug her flustered sheep along, one still having to be carried. It was clear to her that this hillside cave was home to some house of sin, which she normally, not be caught dead inside. All of the beady, oddly yellow, oft glowing eyes had turned on her. Muddied, miserable, and otherwise morose she shuffled her way through the boisterous cave, turning her nose up at every stationary patron.

Finding a comfortable rock on the ground, she simply refused to take a seat. Raising a free hand, she tried in vain to get the attention of who appeared to be a server, “A menu, please.” She requested, to crickets. Confounded and left miserable by the lack of adequate service she turned back to the issue at hand.

Something hit her nostrils; a warm and comforting scent. It was unmistakable: Cassoulet. A look of dread overtook the sheep beside her. Of course! Mutton shank. Swishing her wrist, she summoned forth a prismatic motorcycle, equipped with a cramped sidecar for her two captives. Having no discernable conscience about disrupting this place of business, she drove right on through. While she offered the small courtesy of not mowing anybody down in her mad quest for this particular sheep.

There wasn’t much of a kitchen in this cave. Simply, there was a pot and an open fire. Above the fire struggled a mundane appearing chef, who slaved to the bone to produce what he possibly could. This chef had cleanly plated the shank in the middle of the bowl, offering a simple, yet still aesthetic meal for whomever had the pleasure of ordering it. No longer. A deafening roar entered his small portion of cave, and an effortlessly domineering presence on the back of a motorcycle swept in, taking the bowl in hand, and promptly leaving without a word.

Three of these horrendous creatures were under her thumb. These two remaining sheep gnawed at Ingrid's impeccable will. Surrounded by incessant bleating and the radiant dread that arose from being in the same cramped car as a cooked(well-prepared), sent the self-proclaimed queen into a spiraling provincial anguish.

Speeding along the singsongsy rainbow road in a frenzied state, Ingrid had half a mind to shear the two living sheep and submit two effigies in their place. It didn't really occur to her that she didn't have the skills or temperament needed, nor did she even have the sheep's best interest at heart. Enthralled in the sways of this terrible, yet enticing plan of hers, she had taken her keen seamstress’ eyes off of the road. In the slightest edge of the corner of her eye she caught a blur of white screaming across the road.

Throwing the entire carriage into disarray, Ingrid let her reflexes take over. Swinging the car into a dangerous, yet exciting, sliding break maneuver, she aroused a spectacular bellow of glittering dust. While the sheep in various states of distress were sent further along, the cassoulet, miraculously, remained unstirred. Peering through the windshield her eyes locked with a shivering sheep, out and about on the mystical rainbow road. Rendered entirely despondent, Ingrid silently wept. The situations in which these sheep were embroiled persistently torturous in their nonsensicality. Dispirited, she sank deep behind the wheel, slowly building up the nerve to crook the helpless animal.

In somber silence she cruised along the rainbow; her companions were at peace. Something suspicious caught her eyes. A snarling wolf backing something against the wall. Clipping the wolf, she was once more reduced to hopelessness. It was no wolf, but a sheep in wolf costume. Out of her depth time and time again, something truly ugly arose within Iingrid's spirit.
Her reaction in turn continued well into her submission of the sheep to the rookie shepherd. Hell on wheels had come to pasture, and had promptly vanished, leaving behind Ingrid in strut and four surviving sheep in flop, “There! Have your filthy creatures! I am through.” She--quite rudely--denigrated, shoving the cassoulet into the “Um…”ing man's chest.
