Once again Kurai found himself searching around The Devil's Triangle in search of something for a mission. Thankfully this one was much more up his alley. After finishing up the first one he got with the specter he was suddenly alerted of something else nearby that required his attention. The popup sent to him by Earth-Chan warned of an outbreak of slimes nearby. It seems that all the players on the island were too focused on the event to take care of the monsters hanging about. Oh well, at least it gave him another way to get some points. It was even a low rank so he likely wouldn't have to worry about it being too dangerous. How bad could slimes be? “You shouldn't underestimate your opponent. We are entering a den. If it has been neglected for so long there could be numerous enemies.” Seere gently scolded Kurai in his mind as they made their way to their destination. Luckily the demon managed to spot the cave during their solo romp around the island. Maybe he should let them roam around more often. Who knows what other things they could find? “Geez you're such a nag. There's two of us so it should be fine. Even if things go bad we can just run away!” It was odd how the demon swapped between caring for their summoner and running after anything that caught their attention. Not that Kurai particularly minded. At least they did it out of concern and not with some malicious intent. Seere let him know once they got close to the cave opening so that he could summon them. The demon rose out of a pentacle on the ground and the same symbol on Kurai began to bleed. “Damn this hurts more than I expected. Twenty percent of my health is pretty big huh?” He spoke through gritted teeth. No surprise that dealing with demons would come with consequences. As they approached the pair noticed a single slime in a small clearing in front of the entrance to its lair. A plain little green blob that slid back and forth along the ground while they watched. “Weird. Almost looks like it's standing guard. Let's get rid of it and get in there.” That was silly though. Slimes weren't supposed to be sentient. Well, not in most games at least. Kurai retrieved his newly obtained mace from his inventory while Seere rushed forward at the slime. Before they could get to it a red bolt of energy hit the creature and popped it like a water balloon. “See? Easy!” He blew off the smoldering head of the mace he used to aim the attack before they made their way into the mouth of the cave.
Inside there were more of the slimes as expected. They were sent to clear out an entire den after all. One that had rocks embedded in it, another with chunks of ice, and one that looked like a pumpkin. Possibly the weirdest of all was the one that looked like a cat head with a tail. “I have not seen slimes such as these before. Interesting. Shame we must eliminate them.”
Once again Seere launched themselves at the nearest enemy, but were able to make contact this time. Their spear quickly pierced the pumpkin slime before a white glow began to emanate from within. The blast of energy unleashed from the tip of their weapon splattered it across the cave wall.
With his ranged attack depleted Kurai dashed at the rock slime with his mace ready. As he approached the creature propelled itself into his chest. The force of the attack knocked him straight on his ass and the air out of his lungs. Getting hit in the chest sucked normally. Getting hit by a giant rock hurt like a bitch. Yeah, he really shouldn't have underestimated the slimes...
While he was on the ground the cat slime tried to jump on his face presumably to eat him. After he caught his breath a swing of his mace quickly stopped that however. The hit sent the cat hurtling to the right where it got crushed between his weapon and the wall. Damn. It was cute too.

Seere wasn't without their own problems as the last remaining slime without a target set its sights on them. While they were focused on the pumpkin-like creature the ice slime spit icicles at the demon. They yelled out in pain as the sharp projectiles embedded into their side. Unfortunately, they were denied their revenge as the spear-shaped bolt of energy they sent in return missed. The body of the slime squashed down to dodge the attack before it jumped further away from the demon.
Kurai scrambled to his feet after the cat slime was squashed against the wall. The one filled with rocks tried to ram itself into him once more, but he was able to throw himself against the wall to get out of the way. As if the pain in his stomach wasn't bad enough his shoulder hurt now too. That didn't stop him from turning around and swinging his mace at the rock slime.
The weapon hit its mark, but much to his surprise the slime didn't explode like the others did. The rocks making up some of its body must have made it more durable. The attack stunned it for just long enough for Kurai to bring his mace back like a bat and swing it in the slime's direction. Another red bolt of energy shot out and collided with the creature. Finally, the slime making up its body lost its shape. “That's the last one! Let's get this over with Seere!”

The last slime continued its onslaught against Seere with a signature slime tackle. It dove through the air and despite the demon's attempt to dodge the attack it managed to catch their side. The same side that the icicles were sticking out of. They roared out in pain once more before the ice slime spat another stream of ice spears at their chest.
The demon fell to the ground after another popup told Kurai that his demon had fallen. “Damn things! You're just some low-level slimes! Come back and kill this bastard already Seere!” He raised his hand in the air as the pentacle on it glowed with red light. Their fingers began to twitch and an intense white aura surrounded the fallen demon. Using their spear to prop themselves up they slowly worked their way back to their feet.
To keep his summon safe while they regenerated Kurai dashed at the ice slime and used his mace like a golf club to send it flying. That wasn't enough to finish it off though. Like the rock slime, the ice must have given its body more structure and more defense. As the creature splatted against the wall of the cave he sent a red bolt of energy at it to finish it off.
The slime stuck to the wall for a brief moment before it jumped off to dodge his attack. It launched itself at Kurai this time but was stopped mid-flight by a white spear of energy hitting it. The attack caused the slime to splatter over his body and face. “Ugh sick!”
His gagging and coughing prevented him from reading the popup from Earth-Chan right off. Kurai wiped off his face once he regained his composure so he could read the message notifying him that the mission was complete. “Good that's over with. Jesus Christ. Let's go get some levels so you don't die to some basic mobs again.” While they were exiting the cave Seere responded. “It is not my fault the system in place limits my power. We will have to remedy that soon enough.”
