Kael thought that he would not be doing anything else today, but of course, he took another mission. But why not? He needed to find himself again, to know who he was, and to finally get himself going with his levels. He had realized that to get by in this world, one must learn to grow. And grow, he must. Through levels, that is!

This is why he took this street cleaning job. After all, why not help out society by cleaning up clutter in the streets, especially in such a big city as this. Plus, the rewards weren't too bad at all!

And this is why he was standing in the middle of a Parisian street, broom in hand, as well as a plastic bag in the other. At the very least, the plastic was recyclable. Mikael was waiting for his partner, eyes peeled as he searched high and low for anyone who was headed towards him. He was told that he had a partner for this mission. He was just hoping they could work well together, and get this cleaning started!

If growing strong would make her a more formidable axeman, then Vanya would have to suck up her annoyance at being forced to do such menial tasks and deal with whatever could come her way. So when a mission popped up nearby during her walk through Paris about street cleaning, then so be it. She slid her finger across the phone, accepting the task as the location to meet with her partner would be on the map before her. Shye made her way across the road and ventured towards the pinged location. Clean up duty wasn't exactly high on her list of priorities, but such sacrifices would have to be made in the name of getting stronger. She'd just have to push aside her feelings for doing exactly what caused her to go down this road in the first place.

It wasn't long until Vanya stood on the sidewalk across from a man with white hair and dashing blue eyes, cleaning the streets ahead of her. She watched with an annoyed pout. What had seemed so trivial had now become something that she absolutely hated to participate in. Just the sound of sweeping the ground caused some memories to resurface of those boys. Ruining every little spot of hard work of her cleaning back when she lived with her father. How they purposefully walked onto a clean floor with mud ridden boots. Her knuckles flexed, wishing to have carved them after their father, but time related issues had made such things impossible. She took a deep breath and walked forward to the man.

"I take it your the person who sent the request for help." She asked, her thick Russian accent on display, grabbing the provided broom in her inventory as it appeared in her hand. The plastic bag came attached to the handle while she tore it away and looked at him with a stoic, stern gaze. "Let's get this over with."

Kael turned at the sound of someone talking behind me, and could hardly stifle his gasp. The woman was certainly striking. Beautiful, in a very regal manner. Or was it deadly? He wasn't sure, nor would he voice his thoughts out loud. Instead he would smile his usual smile, before bowing slightly, though he did not know why.

"Ah...yes! Well, I'm not really the person who sent the request, you see." He started, clutching onto his broom and plastic bag. "The person who requested this must work for the city, or at least whatever is left of city management. I'm one of those who took the job. I suppose you're to be my partner!" He smiled genuinely at the woman, before holding out his hand for a shake, "Mikael, Kael for short. Nice to meet you, miss."

He turned his attention away towards the street he had been cleaning prior. "I'm looking to clean this side of the street. Maybe you can take the other side?" His side was already starting to look much better. Kael was nothing but a diligent worker, after all. It was a trait he had had ever since he was young. "I think we're supposed to clean this street, and then turn in the mission. I know some others have started cleaning different main thoroughfares already." He had seen some other people earlier doing cleaning work as well, and assumed that this mission was open to all people who would be willing, especially since Paris is such a big city!

She was about ready to go and leave as soon as the man had said that he wasn't the one to have sent out that request. Maybe he was just sweeping the streets of Paris for fun then. But it was only by his own introduction that forced her to stay. His name of Mikhael had sent echoes of the deeds she had done long ago to be renewed in one moment. The name of her father, the very first king slain her her hands. It was sloppy and lacked the refinement that she had acquired over the years, but was a cornerstone in her development and growth. She could hide her disgust at the name and at least matched his enthusiasm, even if a bit forced.

"A pleasure to meet you, Kael." She said, reaching out to shake the man's hand, gripping it inside of her own. "I'm Vanya." After the short handshake, she'd recall her hand and look at the streets around them, nodding at his plan. It did make sense, cleaning the streets at a much quicker pace. The woman walked across the street and began to sweep all around. She had a worrisome cast of RBF, but inside, she wanted to finish this as quickly as possible. Too many horrible memories and the like. She'd continue sweeping until coming across a pile of orange skins, just scattered on the street without a care. "Yebanyi..." she murmured to herself, pushing the discarded skins inside of the bag with utter hatred.

First things first, she had one hell of a grip. It was tight, and Kael had almost yelped in shock. He kept his cool, however. After all, why shouldn't he? Just because she was beautiful, and he was somewhat smitten, doesn't mean he should treat her differently. Besides, this world of theirs? It's certainly messed up. Was she a good person? A bad person? Who knows?

"It's nice to meet you, Vanya. I hope we get along well in our...street cleaning." He started, before realizing how stupid it sounded, and made his way towards his own end. This cleaning the street is easy enough. Easy enough after all. Right? Right??

He turned towards her, swept a bit, then snuck another glance. Was he being too suspicious. Who knows?

"Sorry, what was that?" He heard her say something under her breath, and immediately responded for some ungodly reason. Well, there it was. He did his best smile, before turning away and sweeping once more. He then looked up again and said, "I know, this sucks. But the pay isn't too bad, and somebody has to do this, right? At least we can say we've helped the community! Though I'm not gonna lie, the token is what I'm after." He winked and made the shushing motion to add to his stupidity.

Her eyes looked up at Kael as he asked her what she had said under her breath. Had she spoken too loud for it to be to herself, or did this young man just possess a keen ear? "Mm?" Vanya asked, swinging her head around, braids swaying along the way. "Nothing. Just people dirtying the streets needlessly." The Russian woman said in a sort of half truth. She wanted to have said she had murdered people for less than this, but it would be another lie to add to the pile. At least he was one of the players running around too mindless to see the real disgust in such a low ranking mission. Helping the community meant about as much as cleaning half of a plate of food while the other was a day old. Not that she'd tell him this.

"You and me both." she'd make some kind of idle chatter with Kael while continuing to sweep the floors. Sweep, sweep, sweep. "Have you been to Paris before? Even before you were taken into the game? I've just been stuck in Russia all of my life this far." Vanya took a moment to rest her arm, shaking her hands off to try and help with the numbness from sweeping the floor nonstop at such a fast speed. A huff escaped her lips while glancing over at the other man. "Then after getting loaded in here, just wandering around."

Mikael chuckled at her comment. People tend to be so careless sometimes, well, all the time. That was the problem of this world, after all. Carelessness. If people cared more, then this world would continue to flourish. But in the end, this world is ruled by those who are careless, and those who live in this world are apathetic to it. Those who are empathetic, well, there just isn't enough of them to go around.

"Well, that's true. People are oftentimes oblivious to their thrash, and having no care because they believe it'll be someone else's problem." Kael shrugged at that. "But, I don't mind the menial work sometimes. It beats having to take the hits over and over again, to be honest." He grinned at her, realizing that he might have said too much. As a tank, he was almost always bruised after any mission. This was a change of pace for him, and a welcome one, really.
[break][break]"Oh! I've been to Paris once. Twice now since I'm currently here." He smiled at her. "I'm a student of history, and the catacombs below these streets, well, they're something!" In fact, there was a mission to go down those same catacombs. He will have to figure out how, and if he was ready for it. "I'm sorry you had always been stuck in Russia. A beautiful country, with beautiful women- I mean, people, yes. This new world, however, gives us a way to explore the world, though!" He had taken advantage of it somewhat nowadays.

Finishing up his side of the street, he looked towards Vanya and asked, "Here, let me finish up your side. Perhaps you'd like to join me afterwards for a drink or two? It's always nice to unwind after a mission." He asked so quickly, he was sure he forgot to take a breath. Not waiting for an answer, he started to sweep her side too, hoping to finish the mission soon, or perhaps his blood-red ears might just not survive his embarrassment.

"Lucky you." Vanya said, looking at the orange peels with a certain disgust. The man still seemed so unaffected by this, but she didn't expect him too. Not many were born into a life like she had been in. Indentured servitude would make anybody do the things she had done, even if she didn't have any choice in the matter. "Some people don't take hits as well as you. Sometimes the very people you're supposed to look at fondly are the ones giving you those hits." She furrowed her brows before dumping the trash load into the garbage right as Kael went on about his second trip to Paris. The country did catch her interest, but only for the usual tourist reasons.

Although his little slip up did break Vanya's stoic appearance. She cracked a smirk, even chuckled a bit at his response. "Keep your mind out of the gutters and if you're lucky, maybe I can show you around my homeland one day." She joked, poking at his chest playfully as she'd watch him finish up her side of the street. Another soft laugh while she helped him sweep. the combined efforts had made them complete this mission in no time flat. Vanya looked at their handiwork with a relieved huff, then swung back to Kael. "A drink sounds nice. Maybe we'll find some of those beautiful women you've heard about." A finger rose to his nose and flick it playfully, as she'd tag along on his adventure.

The woman's comments jarred him for a moment. It came from her heart, and she meant it. Kael was not one to be oblivious to people's words, their intent behind them, and the tone they say them with. Vanya seems to be a woman who was holding quite a bit back, and if he was being honest, he found it...very interesting. Perhaps he wanted to knew what the woman was hiding behind those veiled eyes.

Her next words, however, made him blush deep red. "N-no...never! My mind is never in the gutter, I can promise you that." He bowed slightly in apology, before keeping to his business. He needed to get himself out of this mess. How inexperienced was he? Kael was not one to stumble over his words, even with beautiful women.

The poke, the flick on his nose, got him stunned for a moment. He scratched the back of his head, before smiling shyly. "Well, we're done here. I know of a small pub just down the street." It was cozy, and quiet. The perfect place to relax and unwind in such a busy city.
