He had decided to do some exploring in the Hollow Hills Given the tunnel size, the spider teen estimated that they had to be about a person's size. From what he remembered, ants were an omnivorous species so there was a chance that he could be designated as food.[break][break] "Still, this is the first time I've heard of anyone being given a direct mission by the system before. There could be a great reward at the end of this." the teen pondered as his broodlings skittered about the opening. "Worst comes to worst, I can make sure that I have an escape route ready." The tunnels were quiet as Sebastian journeyed deeper into the earth. If he looked back, he could make out the tiny sliver of light left from the cave entrance though even that struggled to reach down here; Instead, all that lay ahead was darkness, and with it came the unknown.[break][break]
With him were 13 of his broodlings, forming a 360-degree perimeter around him. He also had a few items equipped, electing to go with a more defense-oriented build given the narrow space he'd have to work with. The mission wanted him to fully explore the hive which would no doubt bring him into opposition with the ants. Given that their capabilities were unknown and it would be prudent to have as much defense armor as he could.[break][break]
"I should probably make sure to give myself time to create more broodlings before running into any warrior ants. Really not smart to get into a close-range fight in the dark.

It wouldn't be for another 10 minutes of walking and another spawn of broodlings for Sebastian to finally run into his first giant ant. At first, he wasn't sure what happened; all that had registered was the illusion spider had passed through something briefly. It hadn't been a wall and when he retraced back, the object had moved and was making its way toward him.[break][break]
As the ant meet his first wave of broodlings, they gave a warning hiss that seemed to have translated well given that it didn't advance any further. Though from what he could hear in the dark, it seemed that it hadn't come to investigate alone. "Looks like I'm not going to be able to avoid a fight after all." he thought as he tried to get a better look at the enemies.[break][break]
"My best choice would probably be to have them explode in their widow form to give myself time to escape. I don't think that there were any branch tunnels on the way in." the teen pondered as the silence stretched.

Thankfully, his standoff against the ants didn't end in a battle. After a few more tense minutes, Sebastian began to make out the sound of the ants scurrying back down the tunnel. After 5 minutes, he allowed his muscles to relax as well as his broodlings, leaving behind the darkness.[break][break]
"I guess they were just here to investigate." the teen muttered before wondering what to do next. He had no way of seeing in the dark nor did his broodlings but it didn't seem as if the ants were particularly hostile. He was still confident that if things resulted in a fight, he could escape. Perhaps after bolstering his numbers a bit.[break][break]
Removing his pop-up book, he opened it in tandem with his passive to summon 8 more broodlings before he sent the arachnid hologram forward, following behind it into the darkness.

With the addition of his new broodlings, now increased to 26 in total, Sebastian continued down the dark path. He continued unimpeded for another 10 minutes before he finally came to a break in the track, the tunnel diverting into two separate paths. One continued to head straight back but the other dipped down into an incline.[break][break]
"Given the mission is to explore the tunnels, heading down would be the best course of action." The teen pondered. He felt like he was repeating himself but it just showed how wary he was and how uncomfortable it was to be surrounded by darkness.[break][break]
"This is only just a D rank mission so at worst would be running into some C rank boss." he thought, trying to put his mind at ease before moving toward the downward tunnel.

It didn't take long traveling down this path before he once again came to a halt as he detected movement ahead. Another group of 3 ants raced up from the darkness before forming a wall, preventing him from continuing onward.[break][break]
"I suppose this is the end of the mission then." he muttered, deciding not to take any aggressive actions against the insects. There was no need to have the entire hive set against him being so deep underground. That would just be suicide.[break][break]
Slowly walking back while surrounded by his brood, it took him a little over 30 minutes before he was finally back in the original tunnel before the mission. "I think I'll have to come back with a light source to do this mission again."
